I am so grateful to Avow for the wonderful care they gave my husband. He was in memory care and was treated with great respect and care.

Avow Hospice performed poorly in caring for our terminally ill brother and did not meet our expectations whatsoever! He was admitted as a critical care patient, only to be placed on a 'wait list' for critical nursing care. Nursing care was very sporadic and the social worker was nonexistent. It became quite clear that all the nurses wanted to do was to dope him up to speed up his journey. Just a terrible experience on all fronts! There are other hospice companies, it prudent to check them all out prior to making a decision. We were extremely disillusioned, disappointed to say the least. Even after his passing, no calls, no follow-up to the family! Poor servicing! read more

My husband was enrolled on March 11, 2021. Horrible death in hospital on January 6, 2022- after 3 days desperately seeking help from AVOW... See the court case (Collier County, Naples Florida). Also, coming book and investigative documentary due on May 2026. AVOW has been deleting/removing almost all negative comments and reviews. This is my third attempt on Yelp. If it helps save even 1 person, 1 family, from going through what we did, it's worth it. My Dad was in the care of an Avow home hospice team for nearly 7 months, and I have never before been so impressed by, or grateful for, a group of health professionals. The attentiveness, responsiveness and gentle compassion shown by each one of them made my father's last months, weeks and days a more peaceful and comfortable time. My mother's wishes and requests were to remain at home and pass away in her own bed. She did not want to be admitted to a facility, nor did she want to be placed in a hospital. Avow helped us follow her directives and made sure that she was able to be at home until her last day on this Earth. When we realized that our mother's health was declining rapidly, we contacted Avow. They were here that same day and quickly made arrangements to have a hospital bed delivered and set up along with other supplies, medication and a regular schedule for nursing care. Hector was her case manager, and it was evident that he had my mother's best interests at heart. He was detailed, clear and compassionate. And he was always reachable - no matter what time of day or night. Medications were clearly explained, along with instructions for her care to both family members as well as her daily caregivers. Increases in her pain meds were done gradually -- obviously according to what she needed --- and at no time did we feel she was over-medicated in order to hasten her death. Hector was very conservative regarding her care, and we greatly appreciated that. Avow helped us follow our mother's wishes. While losing a parent is always an agonizing experience, Avow made sure that she was not in pain and able to stay at home -- which is what SHE wanted. Bless them for that. read more

After a year-long battle, we put my sister-in-law in Avow. The staff was kind, the settings beautiful, and the facilities up to date. They have a nice couch that turned into a twin bed for family members who would like to spend the night. read more

This place is not a hospice. If euthanasia - or worse - is what you are looking for, then this place is illegally set up to achieve that. READ ALL negative reviews. Here and on google. And think about them as it would apply to your loved one. RUN from these people. Every patient that has come their way should have their patient file be investigated to make sure it was a proper medical path and proper death. And if not, this place should be shut down. In my loved ones case, he had brain surgery and out of despair admitted himself to this place's care. His admittance days after his surgery when the surgeon said he wouldn't yet be himself, was was signed off by an ER doctor. An ER doctor! The patient's own doctor was surprised to later find out that he was in hospice. Fine. If they have a doctor signing off and a willing patient. But then. They medicated him speechless. On day one he was active and appreciating us. By day two, he was on a lethal combination of medicine that he would have had a religious objection to receiving, had he known. In addition, if you dare inquire what and why your loved one is receiving the treatment that they are giving, they will begin to treat you like an enemy. The nurses seem to be doing what they are told. But the director of care and social worker were horrendous. Their behavior validated our shocking suspicion of this place. An example, of many: The patient's own dear brother slept by his side the first couple days until the estranged wife worked with the place to threaten him and give him specific visitation hours only. I believe they feared we would talk sense into him and get him discharged. This place should be out of business. It's a factory to put people to death and make as much money as possible off of it. I asked them how long has anyone "made it" until. The nurse proudly said to me, "no one past three weeks." That is not a hospice. read more

Beware. The hospital rep implies that hospice will be with you every step of the way as your loved one nears the end of their life but the reality is you are almost completely on your own. You can have a nurse visit every day (often a different nurse each time) if needed for about 30 mins but most of the time the nurse doesn't read the notes about your loved one's condition and has no clue what is going on, nor do they really seem to care. It's a merry-go-round of indifferent nurses. We have had one nurse who is kind and compassionate, but she is unfortunately not available when we need her. They say to call Avow with new symptoms or needs but every time I have called I am told that there is nothing they can do and we need to hire private help for routine care. The truth about hospice seems to be that they will give you a bag of drugs that you will have to administer when your loved one is at the end of life and aside from that, you are on your own. We are hugely disappointed in Avow Hospice and hope that this review serves to make people aware of the bare-bones care that Avow Hospice provides to families facing end of life care. read more

I would be very careful about buying things from this organization. We purchased a 2 year old sleep number bed from then and it's been 5 weeks and we still have not slept in it. The electrical was damaged, the pump box was damaged. We have had service people out and now ordered a new pump system. We spent $1,340.00 on labor and parts and still waiting for another part. Very disappointed when an organization sells damaged goods. Never again will I buy from them. read more

I am a daughter of a Hospice patient. My former husband is a Hospice Counselor at Hope Hospice and suggested I contact Avow in regards to Bereavement and Grief support. He assured me that the Bereavement Dept was not the same as the Care Department and they would not have moms information because of HIPPA, but would be available to offer me support. Also that my mothers husband would not know I had called and sought assistance. I have called several times explaining who I was and that I was seeking Grief Support. I spoke with a Sue and a Stephanie. I was told the Social Worker was on Team Yellow and named Thomas Loftus and that he would call me back. Instead of a return phone call to me to discuss, staff contacted my mothers husband and indicated I was seeking information about her. This is not true. There is already tension and strife within the family and this caused even more. I received a text from a family member relaying a message to me from her husband to stop calling Avow asking about mom. I called Avow again and was balling my eyes out trying to get someone to understand I wanted Grief Support and to please have someone call me back, yet the staff person hung up on me. How does a company that is supposed to help those who are dying and help their family members grieve refuse to return phone calls to even just find out the purpose of a call, even after it is explicitly explained verbally to staff. How does a company that is supposed to help cause more harm? I am very very disappointed in Avow Hospice in Naples Florida and how I have been treated and ignored and left to suffer even more pain and grief as a result of staff's incompetence. I still have not received a call from the Counselor or Management. Appalling. read more

ABSOLUTE AMAZING STAFF AND FACILITY!!!! The only positive thing I can say about losing my step mother this week to cancer during Covid is the WONDERFUL care she received from EVERYONE at the Avow Frances Georgeson Hospice House. From the moment we had to make the unfortunate decision to pick a hospice faculty until the time we had to say goodbye we received the most wonderful attention and even comfort from the staff. The facility is clean, accommodating, provides wonderful amenities such as daily bedside live music, massages, meals and private patio over looking a lake with bunnies and birds. Please please please choose this place knowing your loved one will be comfortable and get the right pain medication to keep them resting painlessly and peacefully. My husband was transferred to this facility in May 2022 for end-of-life care. Transferring him to Avow Naples is my biggest regret to this day and weighs heavy on me since it was my decision. The facility is nice, clean, and well maintained, but the staff is awful, and it starts at the top with the clinical director. While grieving and trying to come to terms with watching my husband pass, she was harassing the grieving family next to me about things that had nothing to do with their mom's health. She was rude, unsympathetic, and cold along with her cronies, I couldn't believe my ears, and the other family was appalled by her behavior at such an awful time. After speaking to the "good staff, they confirmed she's awful to work for. I would publish her name; however, yelp would delete the post. If you look on indeed and type in Avow Naples, you will see for yourself how the clinical director not only treats family but her staff as well. How she has a job is beyond me. I am speaking for myself, my two sisters and my brothers daughter when I say our prayers were answered when this place found a final resting place for our loved one. After a tough 12 days in a hospital with very grim results our brother/father was move to AVOW hospice and his final hours were probably the best hours he had felt in a long time. During my family member's stay at this Hospice, medications were discontinued, dosages were changed, and medications were added - all without consultation of the patient or family members. This resulted in harmful changes to my family member's condition and a difficult death. read more

Frances Georgeson Hospice House is beautiful and the rooms are spacious with a private lanai and view of the lake. The facility is so peaceful. The doctors, nurses, aides, social workers, and chaplain provided such gentle and thorough care for my loved one. read more

Our mom was in the care of the wonderful Avow staff for four days before she passed on May 6, 2019. The administrative staff were supportive and caring. The Nurses and Doctors were magnificent in their care....they treated mom with loving hands and dignity. Mom was bathed, fed and warm. We wanted her comfortable, and she was. The NCH Critical Care staff was not optimistic that my wife would last more than a few days when taken off life support and did not want her to be transported in an ambulance, The rep who spoke with us about Avow's services seemed to no have read the staff report. Opined that if my wife showed a wiff of improvement she would be sent to their facility. The fact that Avow had pay rent to NCH for a hospital room. The rep shared her stories of WW II veterans who waited to tell their wives about how the war affected them. Neither my wife no I have any military experience. Please spare yourself the heartache and stay away from Avow hospice. My family had a HORRIFIC experience with the cate my mother received from Avow. The variance in the nursing care was incredible. It started when my mom came home and two "nurses" came to set up an IV. But both of them stated that they that they were not familiar with a this particular IV bag. But they administered it anyway without attempting to find out the correct procedure. The instructions were clearly stated on the bag itself and the still couldn't get it right. It wasn't till 24 hours later and a different set of nurses that came to the house that they finally figured out that it was hung wrong. We lost valuable time and much discomfort was caused to my mom. The avow nurses spend more time on their phones recording family conversations than they do administering nursing care. The only time their fingers seemed to stop typing was to give another dose of morphine. I didn't think euthanasia was legal in this country until I met the nurses at Avow. Unfortunately my mom passed away only three days of being home. But when she did pass we asked for a particular funeral Home to take care of my mother they not only chose their own funeral home but they did so at record speed. My mom passed away and virtually 40 minutes later she was out of the house. We were not even given the decency to say goodbye privately, for the nurse as well as the two funeral home employees did not leave her side while we said goodbye. When I tell you 40 minutes I am not exaggerating we asked for more time but were told that wasn't possible. These are just the highlights of a painful journey my mom endured before her passing. Please don't let this happen to your loved one. I've seen better care given to a dog. This just isn't right, plain and simple STAY AWAY!!! read more

The staff of Avow were across the board among the kindest, most compassionate and caring people I have ever met. They are expert in providing comfort in what is obviously a difficult time for both patients and family. After we could no longer care for Mom at home, they recommended that we admit her to the Avow facility on Whipoorwill. I agree that it was cold temperature wise (as stated in the negative review below) but, maybe there is a reason for that. We brought sweaters, and were very comfortable. We were blessed to have had Avow hospice recommended to us by my mother's oncologist. read more

Avow Hospice is nothing they say they are! They are a bunch of robots who say and do nothing to comfort the family or patient that is dying. My husband embraced them for a month. They were ok at getting the existential things, wheelchair, band aids, oxygen etc. and sent nurses here and there. They were not compassionate! The day befor my husband died he began having some uncontrollable pain. When I called for the doctor (who the social worker at Avow told us to call), Avow told me no doctor was available and that a nurse would come. She would be the fourth nurse. Never the same one twice. She arrived at my home at around 2:30 and proceeded to write a report for about 3hours on her phone. She never spoke to me directly and sat by my husband in his bed asking him questions! He was obviously in uncontrollable pain and wasn't up for chatter or her questions! She never never expressed the fact that this might be the end and was as cold as ice! Avow already had my husbands full health history! She proceeded to call the doctor who insisted he be transported to their facility! I said why and she replied "for temporary pain management". I told her he wanted to be treated at home and she said they don't do that!!! What!! Since when. It's now about 4:30 I asked when the transporter was coming she told me 7:30!!!!!!!! My ears and my heart by now we're in disbelief! She stil hadn't told me that maybe my husband was coming near his end! And she told me to pack a bag for him with toiletries and extra clothing???? What? Why? Then she left like a ghost !! Nothing came out of her mouth about my comfort or how I should help him in the mean time and she didn't offer to stay with us either! Omg! The transporter arrived on time. When I tell you they sent a 5' man to lift my husband out of bed onto a gurney! Stupidity! Thank God my neighbour was home to give him a hand! Then they take my husband down to the van (an empty tin can no seats no lights ). Inside!! Horrible I couldn't ride with him ! I had to follow the van to their facility! When I arrived the two nurses were ripping his clothes off as I walked in. I asked them what they were doing . They just replied getting him ready! My husband then, still writhing in pain said he had to urinate. I asked for a male urinal two times, they hesitated and I said I don't want him to mess himself!! Finally a urinal was literally, thrown at me by the foot of my husbands bed!!! And I mean thrown not handed to me. Both these nurses were horrible and never told me that they thought he was going to die . They never stayed in the room to help me or tell me to maybe hold his hand or stay up and not sleep!! It was like they knew but did not care about me or our feelings! I know these people are experienced in seeing people die!!! Why did they let me go to sleep thinking he would be waking up ! The communication was terrible! I woke to a stupid nurse flicking on a light at 5:30 in the morning with a pill asking me to give it to my husband?? I tried to awaken him and he was gone :((((((! They knew and they didn't care and they didn't need to take him there! We never visited the facility and my husband wanted to die at home! They struck panic in U.S. At the last moment that nurse came to our house! She was insistent and cold like she was dead! For what so they could make some money??? Yes my insurance company paid them $3800 for all my grief! I wouldn't give them a dime and I am writing this letter to their corporate. They need to overhaul that place and retrain their nurses and staff! Oh and on the morning my husband died, I'm sitting in his room waiting for the funeral home to arrive and in walks a volunteer with a water pitcher to fill his water!!!!! Ugh! Did these idiots tell their staff that the man is this room was deceased and she didn't knock!! Asses is all I have to say ! read more

My mom was treated with the utmost respect and dignity while in the care of Avow and her personal nurse Rita McGrath. At the end of her life she was moved into their Hospice House in a beautiful room with a serene setting by a lake. The nurses and volunteers were genuinely compassionate. Her passing, at age 93.5, was peaceful and respectful. I highly recommend Avow Hospice. read more

My family had our first experience with Avow hospice located in Naples, Florida in October 2018. Initially we thought we were making the right choice after reading reviews and sitting down with Rita who was assigned as our case manager. Unfortunately Rita went on vacation soon after our meeting and our mom went into crisis care the day after that. Our experience with a nurse named Patricia on Sunday October 14th was the most despicable and uncomfortable event anyone dealing with the passing of a relative should have to go through. Her nasty unprofessional attitude is not appropriate in a business setting especially one as delicate as hospice. Then after asking her to leave her supervisor Trudy shows up and endeavors to portray professionalism but ends up abusing her power, leaving a family in despair. When no one from Avow had showed by 3PM Monday October 15th we had to call another hospice company. By the way a phone call complaint was made that morning, Monday October 15th concerning the incident that happened on Sunday and to this day not one person from Avow has reached out to us. Avow caregivers tended to my Dad for many months at his home and at the very end of his life in the I/P unit. They were visiting angels that tended to his physical, emotional and psychological needs. He outlived his life 'projection' in part due to their loving and attentive care. When it was time to go, they let him know and he went with dignity and no fanfare as he wished. Avow was there for my grandmother as she cared for my grandfather at the end of his life. Over Easter weekend my grandfather needed a medication change and the on call doctor not only made that possible over a holiday weekend, but then a volunteer with Avow picked up the medicine and delivered it to my grandmother. The staff and volunteers treated my grandmother like a friend and it made her feel more at peace during the end of my grandfather's life. My family is so thankful that Avow was able to help our family in ways we could never have imagined. They go ABOVE AND BEYOND for their patients and clients. read more

I simply can't put into words how horribly we were treated. Obviously this process is not fun. However, the staff we experienced at Avow by and large doesn't seem to care. As callous and cold as the staff was, the room we had was equally as frigid. After repeated complaints we were told that they get that all the time and our best option was to open the door. As far as how poorly my mother was treated, you can't image it. If you are reading this I know you are about to go through a tough time. I would recommend you steer far clear of Avow. First thing first the facility and rooms are very nice, most of them are spacious and have a small lanai attached to each room, The staff is a totally different ball game. They just simply do not care. Patients are basically left alone and not checked upon unless it is medicine time. They care enough to keep the patient doped up, but in my opinion it is also a way out for them not to care for their needs. Lack of communication is awful. no voluntary information given to you unless asked. Patients left in soiled underwear for hours or vomit over them and even worse experiencing seizures and the nurses don't even know. Nurses are constantly in their station playing on their phones and clearly do not attend to the patients like they should. It is a ruff time for the family to go through and the lack of concern or help given makes you feel as though they think, "oh well, it is just another person dying". So if you are thinking about hospice care for a loved one i would highly recommend choosing a different facility other than avow because the only thing nice about it is the scenery and lanai. read more
