Our experience at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Naples was extremely disappointing…read moreand stressful during a time when our family should have been focused on healing and recovery. Rather than feeling like individualized, patient-centered rehabilitation, much of the stay felt like a box-checking exercise. We repeatedly encountered rushed interactions, poor communication, and a lack of attention to the patient's unique needs, goals, limitations, and pain levels. As family members advocating for our loved one, we often felt dismissed rather than listened to. There were ongoing concerns regarding delayed pain medication, inadequate overnight medication management, missing or delayed safety equipment, and charting that did not always accurately reflect what was actually happening. We also felt that important information provided by the family was not always taken seriously, despite our being actively involved in the patient's care and discharge planning. One of the most frustrating aspects was the perception that facility processes and discharge timelines sometimes seemed to take priority over the patient's actual condition and readiness. We frequently had to push for appropriate equipment, services, and accommodations that should have been part of a collaborative rehabilitation plan. The therapy itself had some bright spots, and there were individual staff members who genuinely cared and tried to help. Unfortunately, those positive interactions were overshadowed by larger issues with communication, responsiveness, and overall patient-centered care. Rehabilitation is about more than completing tasks and documenting progress--it is about listening to patients and families, treating them with dignity and respect, and creating a plan that truly supports recovery. Sadly, that was not our experience. I hope this feedback leads to meaningful improvements for future patients and families.

I broke my hip from an accident 12/27/25 and was in NCH Hospital North Naples for a few days (not a…read moregood experience there, see other review). On 12/30/25 around 4 pm I was admitted to Encompass. I stayed there for the next 11 days. Food A Doctors Cruz and Presley A- P.T. and O.T. staff (3hrs/day) A- Day Nurses and aids B+ Night Nurses and aids B Housekeeping/cleanliness B Case Manager C I was told that I would be discharged 1/12. Therefore, I was astonished that I was told at 3 pm on 1/8 that I would be discharged on 1/9 at 1030 am. I was totally not prepared to return to my home (I live alone). I had no special equipment like walker, commode (to go over toilet), and shower chair. They said they could loan me one of their walkers and I could return it later - what? I appealed this discharge to Medicare, but was informed about 3 pm 1/9 that my appeal was denied and so I was discharged on the morning of 1/10. Overall, Encompass was very good for rehab.

Unfortunately, over the past 2-3 years, I watched the quality of care, staffing, and leadership decline significantly. The weekends were especially concerning. I would visit and the place often felt empty, with very limited staff and very little activity. Elderly residents need proper attention seven days a week, not just during the week. I was also extremely disappointed with the leadership under Lynnette Durham. In my personal experience, I found her unprofessional, and the facility is simply not what it used to be. I also feel the quality of nursing care declined and that my mother's health deteriorated while under their care. My advice to families: visit unexpectedly on a weekend before making a decision. Based on our experience, I would look elsewhere.

Well, I just got out of a 10-day stay at this nursing home which I attended strictly for the…read morePhysical Therapy rehabilitation. It was much less that I had hoped for and even less for what I'd expected. In no particular order I will give details of the horrors you might expect. Keep in mind that for an older person with terminal issues this might have been much better, but I was probably the youngest in the facility and only needed P.T., not nursing. I had a multiple-occupancy room (read semi-private, two patients) that had a TV each but both TVs were controlled with the same coded remote. When I would turn mine off or on or changed the channel or volume level, his would change, too, and vice-versa. It had a bathroom much smaller that any Motel 6 I'd even been in. It had belt-sander quality toilet paper. And there was no shower... only a bi-weekly schedule to go down to the "spa" always with a nurse or assistant who did their best impression of Nurse Rachet (controlling the shower hose, freezing temps, dumping handfuls of shampoo on my hair, all while seated in one of their rolling PVC shower seats. I am not a xenophobe, but when all of the staff speaks loud Creole in your presence and only barely try to speak English when they address you, I find it disturbing and off-putting. The P.T. "gym" looked more like an adult kindergarten, including match-the-shape games. The silicone rubber bands they used for muscle-strengthening made me think that I was in Joe's Garage and Kindergarten. The staff seemed more interested in whistling to 80's tunes or talking about their next meal plans than focusing on the P.T. The entire facility reminded me of a stalog; it took the door code of the day to exit a door to the outside. This might be effective against dementia patients wandering off, but I was clearly with all of my senses and it would have been nice to sit for awhile outdoors listening to the quite sounds of traffic... It took the kitchen/nutrition staff 9 days to finally get my food orders correct. I make the majority of my meals fresh and raw. So instead of blindly opting in for the lemmings' fare of heated canned food, I spent entirely too much time getting them to make me salads and sandwiches. And why are we still wearing traditional hospital gowns? It made more sense back when most of our medicines were hypodermics in the buttocks, but they have got to go. They provide no protection, they never fit, and the ties get knotted up. My assigned doctor was on vacation when I was admitted and never returned during my 10-day visit. Their inter-departmental communications were horrible, with me often repeating the same set of information to many staff members who should have shared it. I hope this will guide you towards selecting a better nursing home/rehab experience than I had.

The facility is physically beautiful but there are bug and cockroach issues that exceed the normal expectations for living in Florida. There was massive turnover during our tenure with three different nursing directors in the nine months we were there. Weekend coverage is sparse. Communication was non existent unless there was a fall or a crisis. Staff do not introduce themselves and caregivers constantly change so it is hard to know who to approach when there is a question or concern. Although I gave this feedback on multiple occasions, no change occurred. Administration does not treat their residents with the dignity they deserve and does not confer with family regarding care decisions. They are quick to flex legal authority rather than work with family to find solutions. No memory care will be perfect and the Villa at Terracina was excellent in many ways, however their shortcomings overshadowed the positive in our experience. This is a difficult journey for those suffering from dementia and their loved ones. To anyone reading this I wish you and your loved ones the best.

After 6 months in an Assisted Living Facility in Stuart Florida we recognized her wandering required memory care. We mover her into a Memory Care Facility in Stuart for another year. That Facility was nice, and clean, and offered adequate services, but their 65-70 residents lived in three hallways which shared two common dining rooms and one common recreation room. My mother was often agitated due to the noise generated in the common room. As her condition progressed we felt a change was once again needed. We decided if a move was required we might as well move her across the state to allow me to participate more in her care. We researched and visited over a dozen facilities here in Lee County, and found most to be a carbon copy of mother's pervious facility. The exception I found was Pacifica Senior Living of Fort Myers. Their program of 5 smaller cottages with self contained dining and recreation areas were just what we were looking for. While Pacifica houses about the same number of residents as the others, the atmosphere was totally different. As far as staff, care, food, and living conditions are concerned we have been thrilled with Pacifica. All the staff, without exception, have been loving and caring toward my mother. I make a point of visiting 4 to 5 times per week, always at different times, and I have never seen mother in distress, dirty, hungry, or ignored. Pacifica provides activities to keep her involved with other residents and as stimulated both physically and mentally as her condition allows. Mother feels at home at Pacifica and Lord knows they are providing services I could never provide her myself if she were living with me. A big thumbs up for Pacifica! Highly recommended!
