Acoya of Mesa welcomed with my dad with open arms. My dad was welcomed to a balcony viewing the Superstition Mountains, started meeting new friends, and partaking in daily social events. My dad is now living on a cruise ship without water. The Acoya staff spoils him rotten. My family enjoyed a welcoming pizza party. We partake in Holiday feasts, numerous social events with the favorite being Karaoke night. Melissa, the director, often sings duets with the residents. Chef Chris asked my dad what his favorite food was, and it ended up on the menu! I researched several facilities prior to moving my dad into a senior living environment and Acoya of Mesa was the one we kept coming back to. My family and I are very happy to call Acoya home!!

She introduced me to Lynda, the wonderful owner, who made me feel comfortable and welcome within a few minutes of meeting her. I was able to move my mom here the same day we needed services. My mom was living in my home, and took a turn for the worse very quickly. We needed somewhere she could live and receive hospice care. Lynda had a beautiful private room that was painted yellow and was very cheerful. I can't tell you what a relief it was to turn my mom's care over to Lynda and her awesome daughter Maddie. My mom ended up loving it here. She loved the food, and the caring staff who was there for her 24 hours a day. Lynda took care of mom until the end of her life, and treated her like she was her own family. If you are looking for a loving, home-like environment, look no further. The staff are not attentive to the patients, they mostly shuffle them from their bedroom, to a…read morechair or table for food then back to a chair. Don't buy the "demo" where they claim to actually engage the patients. My mother was there for 8-9 months, she lost over 20 pounds (she weighed 105-110 at start), she could no longer use utensils as she could not see directly under her face but even though we repeatedly told them she required finger food or assistance, it rarely happened. She also developed over 4 infections, 3 UTIs, the staff let them sit in soiled garments and they also don't try and help them use facilities. The last one was 2 weeks before I was able to pull her out into my home (it took over a month for UHC to arrange for her to be moved to my house and unfortunately, the damage was too far along. She was with me a week and had to be admitted for a stomach infection that was caught too late at facility and she died 4 days later. She had dementia and was not in a great mental state, but this place should be shut down, patients would be no worse off on the street. I would also avoid UHC - for profits running D-SNP patients is a recipe for disaster.

For three years I cared for my mother as she battled dementia, it was one of the hardest experiences of my life, I struggled to understand her mood swings her refusal to eat, shower, or take medication. I eventually had to accept that I didn't have the skills or knowledge to provide the care she needed, after moving her four times since 2022 I was feeling hopeless until one day in March 2023 I overheard a woman at the grocery store raving about a place of joy she described it as heaven on Earth a place where her father was cared for with love and dedication her words stuck with me and I decided to visit from the moment I walked in I felt something different the owner Chela is incredibly attentive to detail and it's clear that she runs this home with both expertise and a huge heart every time I visit often unannounced I see caregivers who are genuinely happy always smiling and treating the residents with kindness and patience. Most importantly I always see the residents happy. the name says it all this truly is a place of joy, if you're looking for a group home where your loved one will be treated with dignity compassion and expert care this is it. She is well fed, the facility is always clean, the meals are wonderful, and she is as happy as one can be under her circumstances. Her husband, my uncle, visits regularly, and always knows he will find his wife up and dressed, having a meal, or just finishing one, with clean linens on the bed, a comfortable chair where she feels safe, and people around who care for her and make her feel safe. I am grateful for the peace of mind my uncle has knowing the staff care greatly about and for my aunt which allows him some sense of comfort since they cannot be together in their home. Thank you all for not only caring for my aunt, but for the tenderness with which you care for my uncle as well. He is a wonderful man, and a wonderful husband to my aunt for over 65 years.
