I called the first time and they were very rude over the phone and was getting frustrated with me because their system or phones don't work correctly, then I got hung up on and called a piece of sh!t the second time I called because they can't do their jobs or just don't want to. We made an inquiry for our Grandmother and recieved an appointment with the admin at Ararat facility. My grandmother was at the time at another facility and let me tell you, it was like night and day in comparison. We even had a chance to speak to a nice American man who lived at the facility, he was happy and only had good things to say about the place. Furniture was lux, everything was clean and maintained. I only wish my grandma would have had a chance to stay there instead of what I can describe as an asylum. read more

From the first day we brought my mom in, Andy stood out--not just as a professional, but as a genuinely compassionate human being. He goes above and beyond in every way. Whether it's taking time to explain things thoroughly, checking in to make sure my mom is comfortable and well cared for, or just being a warm, calming presence, Andy does it all with sincerity. It's clear that he really cares about the residents and treats them with dignity and kindness. It's never easy entrusting the care of a loved one to others, but Andy has made that transition so much easier for our family. Knowing someone like him is looking after my mom gives us peace of mind. You should be embarrassed of yourself and I hope you and your parents don't go through what you put my mom and me through You and your facility almost killed my mom by neglecting her. And I had hired a out of pocket car taker to stay with her 5 hours a day and you are telling us we are lying that moms throwing up everything and eating nothing. She left there 100 lbs ; the nurses don't make notes and just because it's an Armenian place means nothing. Please do not send your relative here!!!!!! Dr Boyajian is rates one star on Google. Says a lot about a dr. the dr that was suppose to be helping my mom. When I admitted her there, it took the doctor three months to call me after I had left several several messages not only Ararat home but also have private office. Turned out to be a cousin of someone I know so I had to have them call Dr. Boyadjian and embarrass her to call her patient family back. That's when she called me back that's not neglect I don't know what is! I have seen and been to quite a few nursing homes. I've had a family member staying at one as well. The contrast is stark between Ararat Home and other places. There is a reason why it's rated top ten in the nation (number 1 in the state of CA for two years in a row). As someone who has studied structured environments, I can really appreciate the way things are set up there. The care and response are immediate. They give residents freedom and options for their activities. It's clean and no smells (unlike other places). They'll listen to your feedback and take it into consideration. Therapists are great! And again, I can't stress enough, that unlike another place, workers can fully handle him without asking for your help to turn or roll him over while changing diapers. I can be nothing but grateful for a place like this where you can rest assured that your loved ones are in good hands without you having to monitor things 24/7. Whenever someone, anyone, says anything negative about this place, I encourage them to name a better place where they would want their loved ones to be transferred to. Because I honestly can't imagine a better place for my family member or for myself, when the time comes. read more

And, no matter who says what, that's what Ararat provides! Is it perfect? No place is. But I honestly don't understand why people would go as far as attack this place (as I've read in some reviews here)?! Do you imagine your loved ones or even yourself at a better facility? I mean, there are luxury places out there (better than the homes that most of us live in now), but those cost 7-8K+ (up to 15-20K depending on care intensity) per month. But it's not for everyone to afford! This place provides your loved ones with everything and more - all covered by the insurance. Besides the basics and an overall clean, safe, and warm environment, there's an additional bonus -- yummy food. And for Armenian community, it's very important to have the kinds of foods their tastebuds are used to. And Ararat provides that in plentihood. With snacks, and tea, and yogurt, and coffee, and crackers, and cheese -- plus the traditional dishes on the menu. That is besides serving balanced nutrition that is optimal for dd I even heard that they wrote about this place in textbooks, as an example of how nursing homes should operate. Interestingly, both directors' names (that of a previous one and the present one) are Margaritas. I was lucky enough to have met both! And both are amazing caring individuals. The new director's dad actually had been residing in Ararat for years. I have been to and seen several nursing homes, while in search of the right place for parents. I've tasted the bland foods they serve. I've had my dad staying at one of those places as well. And I had to stay there for hours (from morning till late evening) to make sure that they take good care of him (even with bare necessities, like changing diapers), and I was worried as hell after leaving him there at nights. Workers at that other place would literally ask me for help in turning dad over and keeping him in a rolled over position, while changing him (ouch to my back and hands that already have arthritis). You can only imagine how they would (not fully) clean him, if we didn't have him turned to his side. Ararat is the place that let me take a sigh of relief and not worry about what's happening there, while we're not around. They can handle patient on their own and the response time is fast. Dad actually progressed and livened up while there! I trust THIS place to take good care of him. I personally wouldn't choose any other place, but the Ararat Home for my family members or for me in the future. I know it's human nature to complain and, no matter what, people will find something wrong with anything. Accidents happen everywhere. They can even happen at home as we turn our backs to go into another room or even right before our eyes. I tell people to Just put their hand on their heart and tell me what other place would you trust over this one? Be it for yourself in the future or for your loved ones today! Use your own brain, when you hear things! There is a reason why it has such a huge waitlist and people are dreaming of getting in here! I rest in my case. lol read more

This is for the people contemplating sending their loved ones here. This is not a place you want anyone to end up, let alone someone you love and care about. My aunt was here for a few months and they completely neglected her well being, she nearly died because of the neglect. She was completely malnourished, weak and unable to do simple tasks. Not a single person could answer questions, take responsibility or acknowledge the dire situation. Luckily, we had her pulled out and taken to ER so they can treat the numerous issues she was having due to neglect. She is now at another facility and in great shape. This place is where you send your loved ones to die, not to be rehabilitated or taken care of. They are only there to get paid. read more

One of the best facility in Los Angeles area. I have been working in LA as EMT over 17 years and probably visit 80% of SNF. You might find handful of facilities that can be compared to Ararat Home. All staff from front receptionist to director of facility very friendly, helpful, professional and passion. To bad we don't have much more places like this to provide help for people in need. And from personal experience my father transferred to Ararat 2 months ago practical bed bound after falling. Hopefully in a month he will be going home. And he is 87. I would like to share my recent experience with this nursing facility. About 3 months ago, my mother in law was moved here from her home. When she had moved in, she was very nervous and did not know what to expect as this was going to be her first time living in a nursing facility. Upon admission, we were helped by the friendliest and most sincere staff. Everyone from the nurses to the management team was very welcoming and determined to make my mother in law feel right at home from her first day there. The process to get admitted and get everything else set up was made very simple by the experienced and kind staff. My mother in law had been living with a bedsore for a long time. When the staff learned of this during the admission, they assured us that everything would be done to cure my mother in law of her bedsore. Surely enough, after two months of living in the facility, her bedsore was completely gone and she felt great. Currently, my mother in law is very healthy and is very happy to be living at this facility. She receives excellent care on a daily basis, and is always entertained with all the great activities that Ararat Home arranges for their guests. My family and I cannot thank and compliment this place enough as they take such good care of my mother in law every single day. This is definitely the best nursing facility that we have come across. What a joke, they need to be -5....Horrible, horrible. Dont get fooled by the looks of this place...warning you. The Ararat of the past is not the Ararat of today. You wait for years to get your loved one into an Armenian facility, where you think they will take good care of him and all you get is complaints and complaints. Some RNs and CNA are wonderful and caring but many seem to hate their jobs. They have time to gossip, shop on line and even sleep on the job but no time to change the patient, or to walk with them. It all rolls down from the administration. Basic rule for this facility::::: you will love this place and they will love you as long as you keep donating large amounts or money. If however you do not have 1000's of dollars to donate or you do not know a famous doctor or lawyer... you will eventually be told to get your loved one out the door. After all they need to make room for the next donor that's knocking at the door to get their loved one in. NON Profit....don't believe it. read more

My dad has been at the facility for several years now. I visit him on occasion at various hours. He looks very well taken care of, as do the other residents. He is still alive because he is there, otherwise he could not get anywhere near the level of care he gets at Ararat.
