I been passing by this place a couple times when I would visit next door and I finally gave it a try. They have their menu outside so you can even see the prices beforehand. Inside is a little market and they even have some produce. They carry alot of home made stuff in the fridges like hummus, garlic sauce, cabbage rolls just to name a few. I grabbed the spicy hummus with their pita chips. It was alright, not spicy to me. And I also got their chicken and beef plate. It came with rice pilaf, a salad, garlic sauce and pita bread. It was quite a wait but ik that's cus they was making it fresh. She did come out n apologized for the wait and lmk how much longer.. I finally got my food and tried it at home. The rice alone was good. Not dry or overcooked. The meat pieces were pretty big! Nice and tender. The garlic sauce complimented the meats well with the pita bread. The salad was refreshing but really was just okay since it was mainly cucumber and tomatoes.. I still ate everything up.

Amazing lunch options, unique and delicious market treats, and probably some of the tastiest European desserts Ive found in a bodega. My wife and I were looking for Mediterranean food and Arrat Market popped up. While I don't think this place is a true Mediterranean restaurant they do offer delicious Mediterranean focused plates. We ordered two Chicken kebab plates with a side dzadziki (yogurt sauce) and extra pita. The food was amazing. The chicken was super juicy and full of flavor and the rice was a perfect mix of al dente yet not try. Dzadziki, which I've never seen it spelled like that, was super fresh and the crispy cucumber added a nice crunch. Definitely a revisit dinner spot and they take phone orders! While we waited for our food we shopped around. This place is small, but they have so much good stuff here. Tons of international spices, candies, and jarred items. We left with some spices, a bag of cinnamon cookies, and lots of sweets for the kiddos. Can't wait to head back here and sample more of their menu and get a few more sweet treats!

Great customer service at this mom and pop shop! First time here, and will be back. I order the chicken and beef combo plate. It was about 10-15 min wait but the meat was so tender and juicy - not dry or rushed through the cooking process which I appreciate! The salad was nothing special, garlic sauce was well balanced!

Extremely poor customer service by woman at front register. 2pm on 5/2/2025 My husband and I came in to see what the market had to offer the community because we had been drawn in by the amazing marketing on the windows while in the area. Once we entered, Staff did not acknowledge us at all like most small businesses. When I asked her a question she stared at me until I was finished speaking. Instead of answering the question, she began to speak with a customer. The customer did not respond to the staff initially, which led to her answering my question. I would like to clarify that the customer was not an employee and attempted to respond to my inquiry. I'm unsure if there was a communication barrier but this is America, respectfully, and we primarily speak English. Please have someone who speaks English work here and/or if she does speak English, she can use some customer service training. Thank you, I do wish your business the best.

My family and I needed large portions for a funeral but we wanted delicious filling food. I called Ararat Market two days before the funeral and they were able to fulfill an cratering order of 50 people. The lady who helped me over the phone was so sweet! She helped me narrow it down of chicken (forgot to take pictures) but it came in two big trays , rice pilaf , pita and dipping sauce. I needed it by 8:45am but they said the earliest they can do it is 9:30am and was able to negotiate 9:15am as the funeral was at 10am . I showed up with my sister they had everything done by 9am! Very impressed. I came in and they put everything in the car! I wish I could have tipped them but there was no tipped option when I called it in and paid two days before the day of pick up. Anywho, the chicken was so flavorful and the rice was mouthwatering delicious! It was a hit at the funeral and there was nothing left so that speaks volumes! We are overjoyed with the service from start to finish and would definitely order catering from them again. I wish they delivered as we were 30 min late to the funeral. Other than that I cannot thank Ararat Market for coming through for my family on one the hardest days! Definitely recommend for lunch, dinner and events!

The food here is delicious! I always get the beef or chicken kebab plates which comes with rice, salad, pita bread and garlic sauce. I love the seasoning they put on their meats! On every visit the meat has been moist and tender. It's a lot of food for what you pay for and one plate is enough for 2. The inside of the store also sells assorted baked goods, fresh vegetables, and cheese among other things. It's very small but packed with quality products like baklava. I don't think I would ever order the vegetables since some look like they've been on the shelves too long when I visit but everything else looks good. Customer service is on point. You can tell the family that runs this place puts a lot of thought and care into what they do. If you plan on placing an order I would recommend calling it in so that it is ready for pickup. Parking can get tricky in the afternoon and there are no tables or chairs to sit at while waiting for your order. read more

The first time I came here was from Yelping a restaurant near me. I have driven past this place for several years, not knowing actually "what" it was...assuming by the name that it was just another small market of some kind.. Boy was I wrong!! This isn't just a market! This place has need, chicken, lamb, pork, falafel, pork ribs, beef kufta, among other things that one can order from an awesome menu. The rice pilaf & side salad is very tasty & I like that it's not over seasoned or salted. There is a very small authentic market & they carry spices, sodas & Sparkling waters by the cases. Gave this place another shot after the first time and it was amazing! I ordered the beef lula plate which comes with rice pilaf, a cucumber and tomato salad, garlic sauce and 3 slices of pita bread. The amount of food you get for the price is great. I couldn't finish it for lunch and saved some for dinner. The rice was fluffy and perfectly seasoned. Not too salty or soft. The beef lula didn't have the overwhelming garlic taste. It was nicely grilled, moist and tender. The cumber/tomato salad was so refreshing, I wish it was a little bigger as I really enjoyed it. Crisp, fresh, a bit tangy-- perfect to cleanse the palate after enjoying a bit of the garlic sauce. The garlic sauce isn't the best that I've had but it ranks amongst the top. It was great to not only add to the rice but to dip the lula kabob in. Be sure to carry around some mints as the garlic breath stays with you for quite some time. The store was clean with easy to find items. There is a deli where you can get cold meats and a small selection of fresh fruit/veggies. Definitely will be back read more

Hubby and I tried Ararat Market for the first time recently! I ordered over the phone and the customer service was excellent. I called twice and spoke to two different people who were very nice.They were happy to help and happy to serve! When my husband picked up the food he said they were very nice in person too and it was a family run business. They take pride in their business. We always appreciate superior customer service. The food was absolutely amazing. It tasted authentic and very fresh! It definitely had that homemade taste! We ordered combo plates. Half beef, half lamb and half chicken,half lamb kebabs. The meat was perfectly cooked, flavorful and not at all dry. The rice and the other grain (forgot what is was called) were amazing! We got half rice and half the other grain they offered. I never care to eat my rice or whatever grains come with Mediterranean food but every bite was absolutely delicious. It was so soft, fluffy, and s buttery smooth full of with flavor. We enjoyed the garlic sauce although I do prefer more of a garlic aioli type consistency which is similar to mayo consistency, theirs was still good, the garlic flavor was subtle and the texture was similar humus. The pita was pretty standard. We also ordered roasted peppers which really made the food taste even more authentic when we added it in. We can't wait to order again! read more

If you like Mediterranean food you need to come here. Price is about 12 bucks a plate. Choice of meat kebabs...even lamb. I think they have chops too. You get rice pilaf (yummy), salad (yummy even tho I'm a meat eater), the salty yogurt and pita bread. I'm not a fan of the salty yogurt stuff but this place makes it AWESOME. Not so strong. I'll dip it clean with the pita (which is tasty too). I like pilaf but not crazy about it...this place makes it great. I eat it all every time. Not a restaurant. Just a deli style store. Call ahead to order. If you just show up it might be 20 mins. While you're waiting chk out the stuff that the store carries...I found some good drinks from Turkey. Store is tight and can fill up with 4 to 5 ppl waiting. Just on food taste: beat Tofas, equal if not better than The Mediterranean Grill (downtown), a tad bit better than The Mediterranean Rest (Gettybrg/Fresno), I like it way more than Doy Grill. Mom and pop shop...support the family. Friendly customer service. Many items in the store from the Mediterranean area but I just don't know how to eat them all. read more

My family loves Ararat market. We usually order the big family trays with rice pilaf, beef and chicken and a salad. We also get the hummus and pita bread. Everything is absolutely delicious! It's also affordable and our go to when we host family gatherings. Most importantly, the folks who work there are the sweetest! This little market is great! It is organized and very clean. I found sumac and will be adding this wonderful spice to my salads. I didn't think that this little place could come close to having delicious food comparable to a sit down and dine in restaurant. I was mistaken!hamegh! The chicken is flavorful and juicy. This is a great place to come for Mideastern/Russian imported speciality foods. It's small but clean & well-organized. We ordered from their carry-out food menu. The value is great for the quantity of food. However, I am only giving this place 3-stars because I ordered a falafel plate which was more pita bread than falafel. The pita was huge & overwhelming & the taste of the falafel was average (not bad but not amazing either). I would go back again for the number of speciality products & the value of the products sold for the price paid. read more

At first I was skeptical, small little store with Armenian grocery goods. Its relatively small, but carries a huge range of things to make that good Armenian dish. But most importantly the food here is the BOMB !!! I ordered the chicken kabob $7 and ouh my god, when i got home to eat it. I was in heaven, The chicken was juicy and perfectly marinated, not salty like most food i tasted here in Fresno, and most importantly the sauce, that sauce is seriously so good I can eat anything with it. The salad and the rice pilaf is real good too. My favorite part is how generous the serving is. And the bread was so soft like a pillow.. mmmmmmm yumm The owners are really nice and welcoming. Just be sure to know the food is made fresh, so expect to wait 15-20 minutes. No worries just shop in the store of pop by Jo-anns or petco while waiting, or bevmo if your a drinker. I want to say upfront that I completely respect how hard servers work, and I understand busy nights happen. However, after sitting for quite a while without anyone taking our order, I politely told Brenda that we were ready. I am diabetic and was not feeling well, so the wait was starting to affect me. Her response was, "Sorry, we're really busy tonight and there are only three of us waitressing." I understood that they might be short staffed, but at the very least she could have taken our drink order. Instead, she continued cleaning tables and serving other customers. I watched four different tables get seated after us and receive drinks, salads, and appetizers before we even placed our order. As someone who has been coming here for years, I have never felt so uncomfortable or overlooked in this restaurant. In 2026, no customer should feel that way anywhere. When our food finally came, everything arrived at once -- our hummus, salad, and entrée -- which made the experience feel rushed and poorly handled. When I asked Brenda for more napkins, she never returned to our table. We eventually had to go to the register ourselves to pay because she never brought our check. Before leaving, I explained to her how the situation made me feel. She responded with several explanations about being busy and short staffed, but that was never the real issue. The issue was the way we were treated. She forgot who we were all night but when it came to pay my tab, she definitely knew what table we were sitting at because her response was. I'll get your tab for table 3.. The food was amazing as it has always been, but sadly the service we received completely ruined the experience. After nearly nine years of coming here, this will unfortunately be my last visit.

The portions are generous and always fresh, and there are numerous options to choose from. The staff is pleasant and efficient, and the ordering process is quick and simple. One of my favorite dishes is the lamb kabob plate, which includes perfectly cooked and flavorful skewers of lamb as well as rice and vegetables on the side. This place is amazing! Customer service is through the roof! The woman who helped me was so nice and helpful. I wanted to buy some Armenian coffee and she went to get it for me right away and then taught me how to make it. That was very kind of her. My girlfriend noticed how small it was but it was impeccably clean. Even though it was small, the quality of food and meats were of very high standards. They look at the details which is very important. There tziki sauce which I'm probably spelling wrong tasted phenomenal.
