Burritos Tipico (Sunday special)
MaryLinda W.

Like another reviewer I have eaten here off and on since it opened in the 1990's. With several Mexican restaurants in town, we like to spread the wealth to each of them, and each has something that is our favorite. Arandas is our favorite for getting a crowd seated together using the tables between the lines of booths, although tonight it was just the two of us. The salsa is always good here and the chips were crisp. Hubby ordered the Burritos Tipicos special and I created a combo of a taco and chili rellano with rice and beans. The portions are generous and tasty, and I have enough left over for lunch tomorrow. Other items we have enjoyed in previous visits include ceviche, and Enchiladas Suiza.

This small little restaurant is a decent but mediocre site. The food tastes okay but isn't anything that separates itself. The Carnitas were a 6/10, the presentation was pretty bad, the food was okay-a little overcooked, though to bite. This could have been an off night? The do have traditional and tourist imported beer-They do have Victoria which assists in all taste,in my opinion. The chips and salsa were okay, but lack uniqueness. In my opinion, this is the kind of location you go for a taco and a beer if the wait is too long somewhere else.

If I could rate it less than one star, I would. I got a "build my own" combination of a chicken enchilada and a tamale with rice and beans. The enchilada tasted like no other I've ever had - it had a chemical taste to it and the chicken was the issue, when I just tried the chicken I found it stringy and tasted of metal. Maybe canned chicken? The tamale had very little meat and was more greasy than I've ever experienced. Rice, tasteless, beans, tasteless. This was my first visit to Frankfort and this restaurant. Never again.

Enough fajita for six people.

We have been eating here for 25 years or so (not continuously, as we take breaks to go to work; really, for a while it might have been once or twice a month until the children revolted). Ot is a great place for work-day lunch because the prices are great and the service quick. The food is always good and the portions generous. Maybe too generous, because we always leave over-full and overfed. Some of the original waiters are still around, and several children of waiters and managers are around. So we are always recognized. Tonight, a young lady we had not seen in a decade recognized us and said hello. We visit Frankfort only every few months now. Anyway, the choices are very traditional TexMex. The fajita special for two is enough for three, and the special for three could feed an entire family. Tonight it fed four, and we brought half of it home. They could work on the margaritas, though. I should stick to beer. Even when someone else is buying, eat well, tip well.

Worst salsa ever.

Well, I'm sure it used to be good. Pros: The margarita is tolerable. The beer is cold. The avocado was fresh. The fish taco filling was very good. Servings were ample. Cons: Cilantro in my pico was slightly slimy. Chips were flavorless. The salsa was abysmal. I'm pretty sure the flour tortillas are expired. Beans are runny. If this restaurant would like to improve, they will need to seriously improve the quality of the presentation and the food. Focus on the pico and the salsa. Try to make a salsa that is fresh, not something akin to flavorless catsup. Also, the hot salsa has a good heat, but the flavor is seriously lacking. Perhaps when you buy fresh cilantro you can add some to the pico and the salsa.

It's usually pretty good. Tacos de Carne Asada are good, like you would get at a tacqueria. The rest is Americanized Mecican food.

The food is pretty good (it's "Americanized" Mexican). The service is very good. Try the Tacos Carne Asada for lunch.

This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in Frankfort, and tonight I give it 3 1/2 stars. The…read moresalsa was the best I've had all summer, except for salsa I have made, but the first basket of chips was a bit stale. Napkins and utensils had to be requested. But the a la carte chile rellano I ordered now comes with either beef, chicken or cheese all for the same price! It was a good sized chile, and the a la carte order of rice filled another plate. After eating the salsa and chips, I ate half of the chile and rice with enough leftover for a lunch. Hubby ordered the chicken fajita quesadilla. It was served with rice on a large plate and Hubby said it was good too. The meals were reasonably priced and we had a nice date. We will definitely return and hope for fresher chips next time! UPDATE: The chips were crunchy and delicious tonight! Definitely better than at our last visit. Today I ordered a seafood chile rellano; YUM! Unfortunately the server and I had a miscommunication and I was served a seafood enchilada plate. However once I said that wasn't what I ordered, the plate was whisked away and was shortly replaced with a seafood chile rellano.

Stopped on this restaurant completely random and it was packed. Though it was full, we had a quick…read moreservice. Ample parking spots available. Whenever I go to Mexican restaurant, I always order my favorite Street tacos on corn tortillas. I got campechano (chorizo + steak). The green sauce that came with it was good, but could be better. My friend got fajitas and it was filling. Definitely a good place for a quick stop.
