The young lady (a different staff member) managing the front end was more pleasant. Food: The chimichanga was lacking in seasoning; I added Sazon at home. Just got a terrible takeout order. Ordered the burritos tipicos that I'd gotten and liked on my last visit. The lettuce they put in with it had so much water draining off it that the beans were like soup and the tortillas were so soggy I couldn't eat them. Why don't restaurants know to drain the lettuce??!! Called and was very dissatisfied with the response. Said they'd refund if I'd bring back. Or just tell them to put on the side next time. Like another reviewer I have eaten here off and on since it opened in the 1990's. With several Mexican restaurants in town, we like to spread the wealth to each of them, and each has something that is our favorite. Arandas is our favorite for getting a crowd seated together using the tables between the lines of booths, although tonight it was just the two of us. The salsa is always good here and the chips were crisp. Hubby ordered the Burritos Tipicos special and I created a combo of a taco and chili rellano with rice and beans. The portions are generous and tasty, and I have enough left over for lunch tomorrow. Other items we have enjoyed in previous visits include ceviche, and Enchiladas Suiza. read more

I have been thinking about this place for about a week and so glad I went by. First off they had a great easy setup for curbside, I called my order when I pulled up they came out with my order gave them my card paid and went on my way. So kudos to them for doing such a great job. The only reason I'm giving them a 4 is because even though the food was good the inside of my quesadilla had raw peppers vs cooked peppers, which might be how they do theirs but not what I wanted. The chicken was cooked really well full of flavor with a nice crispy outside, I'll be back I'm sure but will ask for either cooked or no peppers. Again the food and service were great but just not my preference on the cook on peppers. read more

This small little restaurant is a decent but mediocre site. The food tastes okay but isn't anything that separates itself. The Carnitas were a 6/10, the presentation was pretty bad, the food was okay-a little overcooked, though to bite. This could have been an off night? The do have traditional and tourist imported beer-They do have Victoria which assists in all taste,in my opinion. The chips and salsa were okay, but lack uniqueness. Well, I'm sure it used to be good. Pros: The margarita is tolerable. The beer is cold. The avocado was fresh. The fish taco filling was very good. Servings were ample. Cons: Cilantro in my pico was slightly slimy. Chips were flavorless. The salsa was abysmal. I'm pretty sure the flour tortillas are expired. Beans are runny. If this restaurant would like to improve, they will need to seriously improve the quality of the presentation and the food. Focus on the pico and the salsa. Try to make a salsa that is fresh, not something akin to flavorless catsup. Also, the hot salsa has a good heat, but the flavor is seriously lacking. Perhaps when you buy fresh cilantro you can add some to the pico and the salsa. read more

We have been eating here for 25 years or so (not continuously, as we take breaks to go to work; really, for a while it might have been once or twice a month until the children revolted). Ot is a great place for work-day lunch because the prices are great and the service quick. The food is always good and the portions generous. Maybe too generous, because we always leave over-full and overfed. Some of the original waiters are still around, and several children of waiters and managers are around. So we are always recognized. Tonight, a young lady we had not seen in a decade recognized us and said hello. We visit Frankfort only every few months now. Anyway, the choices are very traditional TexMex. The fajita special for two is enough for three, and the special for three could feed an entire family. Tonight it fed four, and we brought half of it home. They could work on the margaritas, though. I should stick to beer. Even when someone else is buying, eat well, tip well. read more

If I could rate it less than one star, I would. I got a "build my own" combination of a chicken enchilada and a tamale with rice and beans. The enchilada tasted like no other I've ever had - it had a chemical taste to it and the chicken was the issue, when I just tried the chicken I found it stringy and tasted of metal. Maybe canned chicken? The tamale had very little meat and was more greasy than I've ever experienced. Rice, tasteless, beans, tasteless. This was my first visit to Frankfort and this restaurant. OMYGOODNESS!!! Service is off the charts here and they have the best cheese steak dinner!! My husband loves his dish too but I can't remember the name of it and my daughter loves regular beef tacos, soft shell! If anything could improve, it would be the salsa. I have been coming to this restaurant for 18 years and the owner of this establishment (Martin) decided once again to treat me with prejudice and had the waiter charge me for two salsas along with my drink. I wasn't the only one that just had a beer and ate chips and salsa and they weren't charged for there chips and salsa, there were 9 people at our table. Years ago I decided not to come here anymore because of the rude owner and his staff, I decided since my friends liked going there I would try it again. Hands down THE BEST Mexican food in Frankfort. Everything is super fresh and tasty. Staff are friendly and make you feel really welcome. My fav is the big steak burrito, yes its huge. This was a horrible experience, we came to arandas to enjoy a nice date night. Our service was terrible, took him forever to refill drinks. As well as his attitude, he was fussing in Spanish, he would ignore us and walk past, I'd say thank you after he finally refilled my drink and he would just rush off and give a rude look. Going there tonight - in fact the to-go boxes are still warm, I ordered their kabab and requested it rare to medium rare. The meat arrived at the table well done instead. Fact of life at restaurants - no matter how good the establishment, mistakes happen. What sets the great from the not-so-great places apart is how they respond to customer complaints. Not only did they remake the meal (and the 2nd attempt was EXACTLY what I was wanting), but they comp'd the adult beverage I ordered while waiting for the remake. When we arrived at the restaurant I needed to use the restroom. Upon arriving at the women's restroom I seen that the door had come off it's hinge at the top. When I went to one of the servers to let him know he completely turned his back to me and kept walking. I then had to find a kitchen person to let them know. He told me I could use the men's room. Well I did simply because I really needed to potty. That restroom was disgusting, urine all over the floor, no towels for drying or a dryer unit. I had to back to the women's broken one to dry my hands. As if that wasn't bad enough the server was terrible. After we waited for over 10 minutes for our order to be taken, we basically didn't see him again until I flagged down another waiter to come refresh our drinks, he then come to see if we needed anything. The place wasn't really busy at all. The food was almost ok but kinda bland. One thing that happened also was a child in the restaurant fell off her chair and hit her head on the floor so hard, she was crying a lot.... none of the restaurant employee's even went over to see if she was ok. That to me was very cold of them. I love Mexican food and I haven't been to this one for years so I thought it would be a nice change.... WRONG!!!
