I'm not a customer who retreats to Yelp on any kind of regular basis. I am selective, for both positive and negative reviews. The majority of my reviews are positive. This vendor was inappropriate and challenging to work and speak with. Instead of becoming myopic and outlining the obstacles I have, I would like to contribute to this space that if you have a choice of vendors, I suggest you try another. read more

Do not recommend you even contact this place. I called to inquire if they do a certain project for a commercial property. Instead of letting me even ask the question the person on the phone asked "are you a renter?" I said I was, the person on the phone then said I don't deal with renters only owners. I tried to tell him to wait a second so I can explain what I need, but he insisted that he won't even hear it, he didn't even let me ask what I needed. For your information the owner of the property has allowed us to do this improvement to the property, I needed to find a company that can do the work and get quotes to compare prices. Something the owner has no time or need to do. Next time instead of being rude and immediately rejecting the business you wait and find out what the customer wants. read more

I couldn't be happier with Ara's professionalism and friendliness from our first phone conversation on Friday to when he showed up at my home on Monday as scheduled. Within 10mins of troubleshooting, he identified the bad part which was the smart gas valve and explained how it should work. He quoted a reasonable price and even took care of extending a 1/2" gas pipe out of the furnace for safety purpose as well as replacing my return air filter. We have been struggling for several months with a repairman that just couldn't figure out why our heat was turning off after a few minutes. To make matters worse, he didn't return calls or show up when said he was going to. Ara was the exact opposite. He was clean, professional, and reliable. During his first visit, he came and gave us a quote for what repairs were needed. We decided to have him do the repair and he returned a couple of days later. The repair took much longer than expected but Ara stuck with it until he finished the repair and he didn't increase his quote! Wonderful! I called Ara after One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning left us with a $1600 bill, a not working unit and now telling us now we needed a new unit that they would credit us for (another $7200 ) He came and found a broken blower wheel and told us we did need to replace our 31 year old unit, which I was not surprised at. My husband climbed on the roof with him and could see how bad it was. Ara is as he seems in his video, a regular honest guy, who does does a good job at a fair price. Our new unit was half the cost of One Hour's. We also then replaced all of the duct work and we still were under One Hour who didn't even talk about duct work by thousands of dollars. Ara was on time and left everything each day clean and took care to cover everything on the roof for rain. he even cleaned the driveway of tire marks from the truck. He is a great hardworking guy and our new go to guy for heating, air and electrical. I highly recommend using him! read more

This was a first class experience. I had some apprehension going in as we recently moved into this house and wasn't sure if we were an easy mark for someone to come in and claim that we needed a massive repair. Ara was great. Professional, courteous, and not only knows what he's doing but is great at being able to explain it. Fixed our Lennox Elite; knew exactly which wire our electrician had wired wrongly on the thermostat. Then I said, hey, can you come look at the pilot on our pool heater and ... we actually discovered there was a gas leak! He fixed it and then proceeded to have to fix the mess the previous technician had made. All at a very fair price. Ara did a great job replacing the motor on my a/c on one of the hottest days in August. He was a total pro, showed up, diagnosed the problem, got the part he needed quickly and got my a/c back up and running in a timely fashion. On Sunday, my wife and I came home from the hospital with our newborn son...to a home with no AC. I called our home warranty company REPEATEDLY, and they couldn't get anyone out until the Wednesday. That company inspected the situation on Wednesday and said they would have to begin the process of getting approval. I called them Thursday morning, and no one had even filed a report. They could gave a damn that we have a newborn, and I was actually told, "We've heard every story in the book." I gave up and called a friend who then recommended Ara. Within a few hours, he was at our home. Two and a half hours later, everything was back to normal! If you have an AC emergency, tell your home warranty company to go get stuffed and call Ara instead! read more

I have used Ara multiple times over the years. I initially used him when I got a high bid from an air conditioning repair service and decided to get a second opinion. Not only was his bid much lower, he showed me how to avoid the problem in the future. I've never had anything but excellent service. CROOK- STAY AWAY. Made an appointment with this guy to come out to fix my heater. On the day he scheduled to come, he no-shows, saying that the part I needed was not in stock. Seems like a professional would have checked with the supplier PRIOR TO making the appointment to ensure he could pick it up and make the appointment. Decided to give him another chance on the next day. One hour before the appointment he texts me complaining that I do not live in Studio City, which I told him was the vicinity where I live. I live in the Hollywood Hills area, which is quite expansive, so I usually say Studio City which is the closest neighborhood to where I live and is literally 1 mile from my house. I also gave him my exact address on the same day. Again, if he was a professional, he should have looked up the exact location if a 1 mile differential is a huge deal. So I call him and he's giving me all kinds of excuses regarding why 1 mile is a huge deal, and complaining that the quote he gave me was for a Studio City address (which is 1 mile from where I live). He then tells me to go find someone else. Totally unprofessional and a pain to deal with. Go find a real professional shop. read more

I needed someone to look at my heating/AC units and Ara was able to come right out and after being in the attic for nearly an hour going over things, gave a thorough account of what we needed to have done. The work we did need done was with a roofer- not with him. He honestly let us know that we could fix a few things, but it wouldn't be worth the cost. My tenant in my Studio City house called and informed me the heater wasn't working. I'm in Huntington Beach. It was noon and a chilly 60 degrees inside their house. I called my usual service guy in the valley. Sorry, booked up today. How bout tomorrow at 9:00 am.?... I'm thinking no heat for my tenant tonight? Let's see it's gonna be about 45 degrees out... Sorry that won't work. Checked yelp and got hold of Ara. He was on a job in Chatsworth for several hours but said he could be in Studio City by 5:00. I'm thinking that's cutting it close, but not many options left. Ara showed up on time, met the tenant and fixed the heater in a very professional manner. Tenant gets to sleep in a warm house tonight. Ara was busy too, just like my usual guy. The difference is Ara gets it! He understands customer service and customer satisfaction. This is my 2nd experience with Ara - two different properties. He's honest, trustworthy and true to his clients. My newer (6 years) system was sucking it up - he got to my property, took a look, was able to quickly diagnose it - AND he got my fat ass to climb up on the roof to SHOW me how to maintain it for future ease.. what the hell else could I want? By the way, 2 years ago, he serviced my 30+ year old package unit on my other home - diagnosed the leak quickly (after I had called two other jokers) and it's running wonderfully. Update Just spoke to Ara today 03/21/17 and he stated he only works with aparments. No longer does residential. Just thought i would let everyone know... On the day my family and I were leaving for vacation our heater stopped working. When we came back our house felt like a freezer (not kidding) after being in 90 degree weather and returning home to 45 degree weather. This was a terrible way to end a nice vacation. This was our first time getting the unit repaired and it made us nervous to find a person we didn't know to fix it. The unit made a noise but no heat came out. We searched yelp and found good reviews on Art, and took a chance getting his help. He was punctual, gave a thorough research on the unit, educated us on the filters we should use, and told us without a doubt what the problem was. He didn't even see what filters we used, but he just knew what ruined the unit! We were impressed on his knowledge, professional, and very kind service. We were confident he would be great even before he repaired it. He got back to us with the details on replacing the main computer which had overheated thanks to our faulty filters from Home Depot! He was true to his word, got our unit fixed, and thanks to him, we slept like a log because we were not freezing. I have had nice service people do terrible jobs, BUT Art was a joy from beginning to end. We will recommend him to all our home owner friends without having to lose our friendship. My roof top a/c failed and Ara was available to look at it the next day. He invited me to inspect it with him. He walked me through every single step of diagnosis. While working on my problem he received many calls for work. It showed how much of a client base of return customers he has. He found the problem and scheduled a return visit most suited to my time. Called him Saturday afternoon, by Sunday noon my place was frosty cool with good educational feedback on what he was doing through the whole process. We have used Ara twice now after finding him on yelp. The first time was for a heating issue and the second for AC issue. He has promptly answered or returned my calls and both times was able to schedule me within a day and at very reasonable price. He is extremely kind and I felt completely safe being alone in my home with a man I didn't know. He knows his stuff and is fast and efficient. In Feb our heater quit working. He came over late the same afternoon I called, said we needed a new part that he didn't have so he rushed out to the store to get it before it closed and fixed it that day so our baby would be warm that night. So sweet! Eve gave him a bad review for being unavailable and said she hates to leave bad reviews, so unsure why she bothered to leave it when she notes he was polite when telling her he was unavailable. He is a one-man service, so there will always be times that he is unavailable and people should be understanding of that! read more

I tried installing a thermostat myself, which I was unsuccessful at. Called another technician, who failed to fix my problem and created extra ones as he went along. After three days of no air and no luck with technician 1, I called Ara. From our first conversation, I could tell that Ara was a professional. He made an appointment for a Friday at 11am, and even showed up early. He quickly found out what the problem was and had my air running in less than 30 minutes. He took the time to explain what he did and made sure everything was working properly. His pricing was very fair as well. Wow. Great service. My air conditioning unit went out at 8:00pm one very warm night, and by 10:00am the next day it was fixed for a great rate. Ara is professional, timely, and an extremely helpful HV/AC repair man. He also has a huge truck that has everything he needs on site. There is very little waiting for the repair man to get parts, come back, etc.... He even made a few adjustments that made the unit work even better. I would definitely his services again! Ara was prompt (promised to be there at 11am and knocked on the door at exactly 11), professional (diagnosed the AC issue within minutes) - and a bargain to boot: I was afraid I'd be out at least $500 bucks, but with Ara I ended up spending under $200, including replacing some parts! I called Ara at 7 p.m. on a Thursday to see if he could come fix the HVAC at my rental property in Sherman Oaks. He answered his own phone, and agreed to come at 9 a.m. the next day. Ara was awesome. Like most, I only read reviews I don't write them but in Ara's case, I decided to make an exception. Here is my story: My A/C needed to be recharged and I was concerned because I've been charged a ridiculous amount of money in the past to get that done. Ara came in throughly inspected the entire system made recommendations on fixing it and recharged it. Before he fixed the system, he asked how much I payed to recharge it. I told him, although I was a bit worried I'm giving him an idea how little I know about the A/C and how much he can charge me. To my surprise Ara charged me less than half of what the other guys charged me. He is an honest guy and he has my business for life. I know everybody tries to make a living but Ara proves you can do it honestly without ripping people off. Good work Ara and thank you for keeping my family cool! read more

Recently asked Ara to do an inspection on the HVAC system on a home we're in the process of purchasing. He found a few minor problems in the system and clearly notified us on his written report to us. He also recommended a few easy things we can do to make the system more efficient. He said the freon charge was good and no refill was necessary. I liked the fact he said the freon was good since he could've easily charged/told us that our freon needed a recharge. So, glad he didn't sell us on any services we didn't need. However, he did recommend we replace the gas furnace which he saw rust on the heat exchangers which could lead to cracks. I guess this would be a valid recommendation since the furnace in the home was 36 years old and usually these furnaces only last 20-25 years. Very honest man and would recommend him! read more

First Yelp review. I'm a DIY kind of guy but occasionally I have to call on a pro. That means I don't usually know who to call on. Enter Yelp. My home's central heat failed recently. Furnace burners were failing to ignite even though I could see the hot surface igniter glowing. I called four HVAC company's on a Monday. Ara was the only one to pick up the phone and scheduled me in the next day at noon. Arrived on time, letting me know when he was heading to my place from his previous job that day. Conducted a diagnostic as I looked on and he explained his findings as he made them. Ultimately needed a new circuit board. Old one was no longer energizing the gas valve to open. He ran out to get the new part locally and swapped in the new board. Everything is working great again. He was also gracious with his time and knowledge to answer questions I had about the possibility of adding an AC unit and how that would be best accomplished given the individual parameters of my home. Price charged for his service was very reasonable. Commensurate with what I would have anticipated. Thanks Ara. Great Job! Now I know at least one person to call. read more

AC unit had been out of commission for a few months, and with summer coming needed to get it repaired. Ara came a couple hours after calling, and immediately figured out the problem, leaking freon. He double checked the wiring for me since I told him my circuit breaker may have tripped, and was very careful not to mess up the paint job aroun my breaker box. I really appreciate the extra care he took. He took photos of the leak (compressor is on the roof of my three story building, hard to get to) and explained everything as he worked. It's been long overdue. Ara has helped me putting in the new HVAC system for both my condo and my townhouse 2 and 1 yr ago respectively. The systems have been running great without any issue. The price was much competitive comparing to other quotes that I had received. Recently, I had a leak gas valve on the fireplace and called the plumber to come out to help me since it was a suggestion from the Gas Company's agent. It was a respected Yelp reviewed biz, Beverly Crest Plumbing. Nice people but they came out and totally gave me to wrong approach to fix and quoted me in the thousands dollars range for the job involving removing walls, etc... Luckily, I remembered Ara and asked him to come out to see if he could help me. He came out, unscrewed the parts, and within 1hr, it was resolved. Sure, he preferred to talk to homeowner just like a few negative feedbacks mentioned but that is mainly to avoid legal complication. Small biz like him cannot afford getting sued and going to court. So if you are renter, please make sure you push your homeowner to call him. I highly relied on Yelp to find an honest and competent contractor, but so far, Ara has been proven he is better than quite a few highly rated Yelp reviewed contractors. read more
