    Grande cannoli!
    Christine G.

The first sign of an excellent cannoli is if they aren't filled until you order. It's the only way to get the true crisp ALL the way throughout your cannoli. And not only do they fill your cannoli fresh here but it's filled so full that I could barely take a bite. The cream here is excellent and not too sweet. Would 100% come back.

Literally the most INSANE arancini EVER!! Get the mozzarella one. It was the best thing I've eaten in Italy!! And they go fast. So make your way over and if you're lucky you'll get a fresh one too!! It is so delicious and such a cute little place; you would never know it has the best arancini in the world inside.

For when you want Sicilian street food in Firenze. OK, that may sound a little weird, but the key is that you can actually get good versions thereof here. The gelato is good (not outstanding, but good), and, apparently, the granita is great - "apparently" 'cos it's a summer-only thing. Anyhow, if you're in the mood for arancini, etc. - go

    Cannoli w/ pistachio

It is a good day when I can satisfy a cannoli craving. If you and your fellow travelers find yourself stuck in a line for a museum, you can always pass the time by getting some Sicilian treats to share. I stepped inside and I was trying to decide between a cannoli or some gelato. Then I saw the Jesus head on the counter and I took that as a sign of encouragement to get both. I got a cannoli with pistachio and a small cup of mandarino & pistachio gelato. With sweets in hand, I took them back to the line to share these with Mr. Joy. The cannoli had a very crunchy, thick shell with thick ricotta cream filling that oozes out with every bite. The cream had a nice almond flavor. The pistachio and mandarin orange flavors didn't go so well together, but those were the flavors that I wanted the most. A nice citrus orange for a refreshing flavor and pistachio, just because pistachio is nice. The gelato was pretty good, but the cannoli was better, albeit a little too sweet.

Pretty good cannoli. Some people here said this was the best cannolo they've ever had. Give me a break. You're on vacation. I get it. You're enjoying yourself. But I've had many better canollli in the states. The filling was very good. It was smooth and savory and just sweet enough. The ricotta was prevalent, but not overdone. However, the shell was mediocre. It was overly burnt and a bit chalky.

This place was definitely on my itinerary after I read that it had the best cannoli in town. We were on our way from Galleria dell'Accademia to Museo Leonardo da Vinci when we passed by it too. I call it fate. Most places have the entire cannoli (shell and cream) on display. But Arà has the shells in the display case and then they fill it with cream when you buy the cannoli. That's how you get the freshest taste. They dip one end in cocoa powder and the other in crushed pistachios. Talk about DELICIOUS! The whole thing costs about €3 and totally worth it. Much better than the places that serve cannolis with cream that's been refrigerated for hours. If you're ever in Florence, definitely drop by and try a cannoli.

Authentic gelato and fresh made cannolis!! very attentive staff, we spent all day in Florence and this was by far the best!

I'm so glad that I found Ara on Yelp! While gelato is great, I wanted an Italian pastry in Italy too. It wasn't super easy finding a cannoli in Italy, but I'm glad I waited for Ara. They don't fill the shells until you order them. The shell was perfectly crispy and powdered with powdered sugar, the ricotta was fresh, smooth and creamy, and there was a little dusting of pistachio on one end and almonds on the other. He enjoyed his lemon sorbet. We also got for later an arancini with proscuitto. All this for 7 Euro. The arancini was huge and it was still great later on. Who doesn't like fried balls, right? The proscuitto was more finely mashed, I would have liked some pieces instead, but it was a solid snack indeed. I like how Ara offers a variety of sweet and savory items to snack on.

One big cannoli big enough to share!

Cannoli are spot-on. You know this place is good when it's a legit Sicilian dessert place and the shells are crispy and then filled just before you eat. And the ricotta filling is delicious and not cloyingly sweet. And only for 2.5 euros! I also tried their desserts too--pistachio, gianduja (hazelnut chocolate), and ricotta. The ricotta was too creamy/rich for me, so we went with pistachio and gianduja. Their ice cream was good, but different than other ones I've had in Florence. Pistachio flavor was strong and had bits of pieces of nuts in them, but because of that, the texture was grainy. So I wasn't a huge fan of it their gelato. But still, 5 stars for specialty food and friendly service :)

Ricotta and pistachio for me, chocolate for Gustav.
    Wilma A.

I loved this gelato, the texture was perfect and flavours great. I had ricotta and pistachio, which was also a great combination! €2 for a small cup, but you could chose more than one flavour. (€0,5 extra for the pistachio) Staff was very nice!

The cannoli they make here is worth the trip. They are fresh filled when ordered and the filling is super creamy, sweet, and full of great flavor. The shell is nice and crisp with a great baked flavor. They dip the ends in what tasted like pistachio and one other nut. Overall it was one of the best I've tried, I would highly recommend this place.

During my trip to Florence I was determined to find the best cannoli and tiramisu. I think this place wins for both. The tiramisu was so moist. The cannoli was to die for. They filled it as I ordered it. I ate it before I was even a block away.

The waitress responded that it came with the meal which on the one hand I didn't want to pay for these as I didn't order them, but on the other hand it was part of the experience and it was good. We started with the octopus which had fantastic flavour but having had octopus two of the preceding four days, it wasn't as good a texture. It was a bit chewy but I kept going back for more given the simple but tasty lemon and olive oil flavour. I then got the risotto which came with "seafood." I didn't know exactly what to expect (and I had the waitress confirm there would be no shellfish). Turns out it's a fried risotto ball stuffed with bits of salmon, octopus, and cod. There was a surprisingly good portion of seafood as well, very much worth whatever the price was. Despite being fried and coming in a sauce, I was amazed at how light it was. This was a superb entree

My entree was the pasta with ragu sauce. There was a decent amount of meat and the pasta was so good! Fresh and perfectly al dente, this was one of the best meals and best ambiances at a fair price.

Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. The most memorable dish we had was the appetizer we order - fried polenta with mushrooms and chicken liver pate, the polenta fried crispy, the mushrooms creamy and the chicken liver pate so smooth and savory. We also ordered 2 pasta dishes - wild boar sauce pappardelle and spaghetti alla carbonara. So tasty and with depth of flavors. Paired well with the house white wine we ordered as well. Definitely a spot you don't want to miss when in Florence.

This is certainly something for us to ponder. I have visited Il Pizzaiuolo several times and have always been seated promptly, although it does get busy. As one may deduce from the restaurant's name, they have pizza. The pizza is very good. I am not Italian, so I have not proceeded in the procession of: pasta, main, pizza, salad, dessert. This is too much for me generally, unless I fast beforehand. I have, on separate occasions, tried pizzas here, as well as several appetizers and main courses. I would recommend the fried burrata, which is simply a breaded and deep-fried burrata. It will appeal to anyone with a palette who likes cheese. The pizzas are also very tasty, although the one I ate most recently had many pieces of a lesser breed of sausage that resembled what the Americans call "hot dogs" or the Russians call "doctor's sausage." Simply a deeply and thoroughly processed meat conglomerate. I was not particularly fond of this on pizza, particularly when many superior processed meats are available. The venue here is simple without frills, as one would expect of an osteria. The prices are reasonable for the location.
