When my husband and I decided we were done suffering through these hot AZ summers with no pool of our own, it was time to search for our perfect pool builder. I spent about two weeks straight compiling companies from friends, acquaintances, and through online research. I had an extensive list of over 20 builders and began the arduous process of sifting through their websites, looking up their reviews, seeing photos of their pools, checking the AZ Register of Contractors, finding out how long they have been in business and checking their ratings on the Better Business Bureau. As we required our pool builder to be registered through AZROC, be in good standing with the BBB, as well as have great reviews and good looking pools, our list was quickly narrowed down to a field of 5. From these, Derek from Aquienta impressed us from the second we made initial contact. From the beginning, Aquienta was on top of their communication with us. When I called to schedule our first visit, the receptionist was kind and prompt in our request. When it was time for our appointment, Derek was on time (others were not!!) and professional. The first thing that we discussed was budget. Surprisingly, he was the only builder who asked us this important question! For him to know what our budget straight out of the gate allowed him to guide us in making choices about the type and finish of pool we were looking for. He was very organized and had a questionnaire, where he went over every detail of the pool, so he was able to give us an accurate estimate. He asked us questions, gave us advice when we had no clue what to do or pick (as first time pool owners/builders) and went out back to measure our yard. After this, we scheduled a meeting for about 7-10 days out to go over the quote. In the meantime, Derek set a handwritten thank you note, which we thought was a great touch. During this time, we also met with the four other builders on our list. I have to tell you that my husband and I have very high expectations and truly expect great customer service. This is where Derek and his team really won our business. He was the most professional, easiest to communicate with, had competitive pricing, great attention to detail and a promise of excellent customer service - all of this was just what we expected. When we went down to Aquienta to see our bid/pool rendering, we were again impressed with their attention to the little details, making us feel like their only customer. In fact, we were probably one of his smaller projects and he still treated us like we were his only and favorite customer! Derek took all of our wants and needs and put them into a pool design that was exactly our vision! He, Georgia, Kelsey and Kara were all VERY patient with us as we tweaked the design, and then tweaked the finish, then did it again and again and yet again.... :) Again, it all goes back to that fantastic customer service that they not only talk about but actually deliver!!!! Few companies have the customer service thing down, but Aquienta truly does. Throughout the entire process, there were phone calls, emails, questions and revisions on our part. Aquienta answered all of those with a quick and friendly response! As for our pool itself, it turned out exactly as planned and on budget (which we kept bumping up -there are so many cool features these days!). It was delayed a few weeks, but we built during the winter season and had an unusually rainy year. Mother Nature cannot be rushed, as we all know! Other than that, their trades were on time, did a great job cleaning up after themselves, were respectful of our space and yard. The few minor issues we had were promptly handled by the Aquienta team. When our pool was finished, Brian came out to give us our orientation and show us the ropes. While we are still learning how to properly care and maintain our pool, we are finally looking forward to a hot AZ summer so we can jump in and enjoy our beautiful new oasis that is now our backyard!!! We are currently using them to maintain our pool as well. The guys show up on time, respect our property and our pool looks phenomenal! Whether you need a new pool, a refresh, or maintenance, Derek and his team are worth the call! In conclusion, I highly recommend Derek and his team at Aquienta Pools. He's a consummate professional and you will not be disappointed in his team and their excellent customer service. We would recommend them hands down and in fact we have. One neighbor built a pool with them and finished just 6 weeks after us and another neighbor had them work on some of their landscaping right after our build was complete. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Thought our pool was finished Aquienta went bankrupt right after we were completed. Neighbors got screwed mid job!! We have had some issues since completion and we are left high and dry. No Warrenty to fall back on!! No one to contact to service. SHAME ON DENNIS!! Christie Boyd is excellent is asking for payments, however there is no work done, no project plan (no wonder the project manager quit in February) no communication from Dennis even when we send emails, voice mails, texts, in person messages left with Victoria and now, we find out through other customers and their subcontractors that they are out of business and even made up stories about Dennis being in the hospital. AVOID! If I could give a minus 10 I would. The owner, avoids his customers. No return calls, or texts, and promises made and not kept. It's been 8 months and no pool. Unfinished project and now Dennis' wife chasing invoices for payment well before the previous items are complete...red flags everywhere!along the way. Prior to the sell of Aquienta service was amazing. The new owner does not return phone calls. Mark came out twice to work on an irrigation line that leaks. Mark was rude, talks down to you. He claimed to of fixed the issue when all he did was make it worse. He would not listen, blamed my yard maintenance company, then said it is condensation. It took them months to fix a leak in the back of the pool fountain. I had to keep calling to get the job finished. I would no longer recommend Aquienta. I now have to hire a different company to figure out the issue with the water and why 8 lights have gone out. They did offer to address the lighting issue for almost $700. No thank you! This house is only 2 years old. read more

We signed our contract in June of 2021 and told this would be a 6 month process. We have had a hole in the ground for 4 months now with no one coming to do any work. The pool was dug in Sept of 2021 and shotcrete permit was issues Dec 2021. We are still waiting. I would not recommend them as this process has not been good and we are months behind what we were promised. read more

Aquienta built and serviced my pool. All was excellent. The company was recently sold and their pool service has deteriorated. I called multiple times to discuss and could not even get a call back. Then left a message for the new owner and no call from him either. This forced me to find other options and now with Gilbert Pool Service who does weekly and other maintenance as needed. Very happy I made the switch. Aquienta seems not to value ongoing pool service business under the new ownership. Beware! read more

So disappointed in the company. We worked with them several years ago and they did a great job. This time, nothing. David was out to give us an estimate and seemed nice enough, saying he would need to have their concrete guy look at the property. Then I get a message from the office that they don't have a concrete person to do the work. You do pool construction and you don't have someone who does concrete? I called them back and said we'd be willing to wait until they got a person who could do the work. Kim, who answered the phone said she would talk to David to get further detail about the reason they couldn't do the work at this time, but she never got back to me. When I called her again, she was evasive and unhelpful and simply suggested I email David. I both called and emailed David and he never returned my call or email. Nothing. These guys outsource most of their jobs to untrustworthy companies. We had a problem with a few items and we were caught up in a dispute between the contractor they hired and Aquienta. Aquienta allowed their subcontractor to call us and they refused to call Aquienta to deal with the issues. We were taken by surprise since we had no agreement with this third-party. In addition they aren't real specialists with anything outside pools. Paver work , Pergola, land grading, lawn and plant / trees are not their strong suit. They will always use third parties that are unvetted to complete these. They also use very questionable plants that have a very small chance of survival. They have given us 2 dead Octillos and tell us to call them if it doesn't grow by spring. Their bread and butter is making arrangements with builders. If you need anything out side a pool, go somewhere else. read more

We hired this company trusting they were an honest company. We build a pool 2 1/2 years ago and the wiring they put in was substandard wiring. Our pool stopped working and we called them on a Saturday and no one returned our call. Even though it was under warranty no one seemed like it was an emergency and so we were forced to hire and electrician and have the problem fixed. The electrician even came on a Sunday morning to help us. now They are dragging their feet on paying the bill even though it was under warranty, I would never recommend this company to anyone. I signed a contract with aquienta in Oct 22 as there were recommended by our real estate agent. We toured several projects and had confidence with Mike Lee their manager. Once the project was turned over to Christine the project went south in a hurry. We were told that pool drawings would take 6 to 8 weeks, which I now know should only take 2 weeks. They tried try to apply for our pool permit in pinAl county but we live in Florence. They tried starting work without obtaining HOA or pool permit. The permit drawing were incomplete and rejected by city of Florence. This is the most incompetent and dishonest company. They used my down payment to fund their overhead on other projects. I canceled the contract and lost my down payment. How in the world could they manage the construction when they are too incompetent to get a permit. Unfortunately I have to say they built the highest quality pool I have ever seen; however their service is not reliable. I have been trying for 3 weeks to get a simple skimmer door and keep getting a run around. Apparently some people have left the company I heard. I got an email saying they were going to come "today" and no one even showed up Beware of their service reliability and promises dates. Unfortunately I am now thinking I will need to find another company to rely on. They do a reasonable job when they show up. They came the next day. So I'm editing my review. We interviewed 3 pool/landscape companies to design and build the landscaping and pool of our new home. Aquenta was a referral from a friend and they were our 3rd bid, I'm giving them a 5 star on the design, we absolutely loved it. Jesse put a lot of thought into it. However, they get a 1 star on the follow up since they never actually sent us a quote after multiple requests and promises to send it over. We ended up hiring another company. read more

A week went by with no response. When he called a second time, on a Friday, my husband was told someone would try and call him back after the weekend. She also said they had been really busy lately. Aquienta did an excellent job on some repair work on my pool. A couple of years ago I had some remodeling work done, but the work wasn't done right and some rebar wasn't sealed properly, so rust stains came through some tile on the beach entry. Aquienta removed the tile, sealed the rebar, and put down new tile to match the original. Mike was very helpful in looking at the problem area to figure out what to do and give me a good estimate. The work was started on time and finished on time in three days. The men who did the work, Nick and Jose, were professional and polite and did very nice tile work. We hired Aquienta to re plaster our pool based on the thoroughness of the estimate, a very nice web site, and good reviews. Our pool turned out fine, but if customer service is important to you I definitely would go elsewhere. What I was told would take a week, took a month. Day after day I was told the crew would be there and day after day, they didn't show up. We adjusted our schedules, my husband took time off work, just to sit around and have them not show up. Every day at 3:00 I would call the office and say "this is your daily no-one-showed-up call. One day the office girl said "they're on their way" only to call back 2 minutes later to tell me that they went home because of the heat. I was told that they put a note of "must do" for a particular Monday on the order, and no one showed. The plaster crew decided to do a pebble tec that day. At that point I asked if I was going to have to hire someone else to finish the job. Then they finally showed up after that. Dan, the project manager stopped returning calls, as did the office staff. I called Aquienta to get a quote and info for a full pool remodel (chip out plaster, create a Baja step, install micro pebble, and complete equipment upgrade. The project manager was out of town, so I waited a few days for him to call me. Then, the office called and said he had something come up and needed a few more days, which I appreciated the call from the office. I understand that things come up. Finally, after over a week, Mike called me. I was in a meeting and not near my calendar, so I told him I'd call him back so we could schedule an appt. 2 hours later I called at the number he gave me...voice mail. I left him a message and gave him 3 days that I could meet, my best times, and asked him to call back so we can schedule. No call back whatsoever. It's been over a week. Should I chase them to give them my business? I don't think so. Luckily, a competitor that did call back got the job. My pools in-floor cleaning system wasn't working properly so I called aquienta to get an estimate. They 1st recommended a drain and acid wash which they did, and this work completed was fine. The pool worked for a while after the cleaning and then was not working properly. I called aquienta back to take a look at it. When they finally did come back they busted a pipe while trying to find out what was going on with the pressure system. They called me to let me know and said they would return to fix it (this was in July when a pool can quickly turn green). Three days after the broken pipe no one had still come back to fix it, when I followed up with them and they said they would send someone out right away. Again no one came for another 3 days. They took apart the pump that wasn't working 3 different times and still could not get it to work. They said they would put a gel to seal it, and told us not to touch pump or run it for 2 day while it dried. That night the pump turned on because the worker forgot to turn the system off. They said they were going to come back to check on it the next day, but they never returned to follow up on the work. The next week I got a bill for over $700. The only ting they fixed was a broken manifold in my filter tank and replaced the lid on one of my pumps. They was overcharged for the work done, and never communicated the cost of work being done. They never followed up on fixing my second pump. When I once again had to follow up with them they told me they would check to see if they could just replace the pump that was worked on. Big surprise they never called me back. Very unprofessional company and they have zero followup or follow through. read more

We've used Aquienta for some pool equipment replacement and some other small projects and most recently to resurface our diving pool. They were professional and timely in their responses and we were happy with the results each time. With the pool resurface they were willing to work with us on a pricing plan that made this large project much more manageable for us. There was a small issue with the final product after the resurface was completed and they have been more than willing to help us correct the issue at no cost to us (the pool surface is under warranty). As it is a fairly common issue with resurfaces we aren't concerned. We are confident in Aquienta and will absolutely use them in future small and large projects. read more

Roy from Aquienta pools is a great mechanic. I myself am mechanically inclined, but I had this anomaly that was going on with my pool for almost up to a year. (If you would like to follow the story from beginning check out my awful review for Sun Devil pools). I have had six companies come out and look at this perplexing issue. Some came and told me already what I knew, some charged me for not fixing the problem, and some just didn't show up. Finally I called B&B Pools my trusted pool store since I have lived in the valley. Once they couldn't figure out the problem, they recommended Roy from Aquienta. Roy actually took the time to diagnose, listen to what I had done already, and where other pool companies had wasted my time and money. Roy had my pool issue fixed in 2 days. Day #1 diagnosis, Day #2 fix the problem. To think I wasted almost a year and about $500.00 with other companies. To top it off Roy didn't even charge me for pipes that were cut, as I had already re-plumbed the thing myself a couple months prior. I will always call Roy if I have any other issues that I cannot figure out myself. Don't waste your time with "pole pushers" who don't know the first thing about maintenance. This company is unorganized and liars. They haven't done anything after we signed the contract 3 months ago. When I finally said I needed to cancel to use a different company that was actually going to build the pool they said I needed to pay a $2,950 cancellation fee. So, I paid $1,000 down payment, they did nothing for 3 months, didn't even pull permits, and now they want me to pay another $2,950 to cancel. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! read more

I ended up being very disappointed by this company. I had heard good things about them and liked the sale representative, Mike, when he came out to my house. He spent more than an hour measuring and talking to me about options which I was very interested in. I was told a quote would come in about a week. When nothing came I followed up with Mike who referred me to Ester. Ester told me the quote was going to someone's desk for review and I would have it in a few days. After another couple week I called again asking if they had anything for me. I was told one of the employees had some personal issues, they were sorry and would get the quote right over to me. After another week and a half I called the sales person, Mike. I told him normally I would be long gone but I really liked some of the things he said. I told him if they were not interest in my job to just let me know and I would stop bugging them. Mike told me that was not the case at all and that he was going to go speak with Ester and would make sure they got the quote right over to me. That was over a week and a half ago and still nothing. After 6-weeks I think it is time to give up on these guys. If it is this hard to get a quote to someone who is very interested in working with them, I fear what the actual job would have gone like. read more

Very expensive service! Originally charged us around $350 to plant two small plants and a palm. Total cost of the three plants are less than $50 from Lowe's.
