They did a beautiful job in my neighbor's home. But they sent their 'B' or 'C' team to do mine. Didn't get the specs right. Painter was a joke. Built the box out too far to mount the TV. The TV was supposed to be flush with the shelves, but he built the box flush and after the TV mount was added, it protrudes. The worst part was the installation of the electric fireplace. It was defective from the start. They sent people out from the fireplace store where they got it from. Multiple trips, but it still makes a grinding noise. The last time he came, he said the noise was "acceptable" - to him maybe. Not to me when I'm trying to read or when I have company and want to use it. It's embarrassing. The remote control had one button that wasn't working, so they gave me an "upgraded" remote model. So upgraded that you have to get up, stand in front of the fireplace and press 'on' multiple times. Ugh. The good part was that the designer came out three times to get the design right. She was great. But the team that came out to build? Nope. read more

We imagine this will be another few days of inconvenience, but they did this on the cheap, as the entire install was, except for the subcontracted work, and to reiterate, if they weren't cheap with their skilled employees, this would likely not have happened. We saved the date by giving a $500 deposit under the premise that they could give us the concrete look we wanted (according to Jaime, they "do it all"). We were later told they were unable to do concrete, giving options of an overpriced concrete alternative, a faux concrete paint finish (there were no samples and we were asked to pay another $500 for one) or large scale tile. We finally picked a large, concrete look tile and (based on what we saw on the estimate sheet) expected a lowered price. Well, they came back with a higher price because there was an assumed price in the estimate (no details on the estimate sheet and no discussion of what was hidden in the numbers). When we started asking questions about what other costs were hidden in the estimate, the tide turned. We then were went a contract that did not protect our home and when we asked for an addendum that secured that protection where told we would need to pay their lawyer to amend. Ultimately, we cancelled because the estimate was basically an open book for them to come up with "surprises" and overcharge. Final straw, they kept our $500 deposit although nowhere did it state it was no-refundable. When we posted our complaint they responded on google making it seem we were being unreasonable. Asking questions and delving into the costs of a custom project are hardly unreasonable and when a company balks at those questions there is cause for concern. The entire team at Thunderbird Custom Design is incredible. Thunderbird Custom Design built a feature wall for us on our second floor. They also installed speakers etc to upgrade our surround sound system. In addition they did a small project for us downstairs as well. Truly the most professional contractor I have ever worked with. Every single promise made was kept. They are incredibly organized and provide an app for pictures, feedback and updates along the way. They use top notch contractors from the cabinetry, painting, AV Installation, drywall etc. Additionally, they were very good in regard to wearing masks, maintaining distance and abiding by all Covid Health and safety recommendations from the CDC. This company is GREAT! Recently had our entertainment wall built by TCD and they did not disappoint. They have a can do attitude as evident by the work they performed around my wife's night work schedule (other companies not willing to do this). They are meticulous about their work. They clean up at end of each day. Plastic wrap the work space to eliminate dust in the house. I loved the pamphlet they gave us at the start letting us know what to expect over the 12 day build. After research and talking with neighbors I reached out to Thunderbird for an estimate who sent Matt over to discuss our wants etc. Jamie L is coowner and design guru who came out with ideas on her laptop. We agreed on terms and they went to work within few weeks. We contacted multiple design & build companies to help us improve our great room with a feature wall. Thunderbird Custom Design was by far and away the best. They listened to what we wanted, made great suggestions and came up with the perfect design. The build process was very efficient. All went smoothly and the various trades were there on time and completed their work on time. They also kept the house as clean as you possibly can during such a process. After recently building a new home we were searching for someone to build a media wall in our great room. After having seen advertisements for both DAGR Design and Thunderbird Custom Design in local publications, we contacted both of them for an estimate. Both offer in-home consultations. DAGR wanted a non-refundable $500 design fee and their sales person showed little design knowledge and interest in our project other than signing us up - didn't even take measurements. The sales consultation with Thunderbird was a completely different experience We had heard good things about Thunderbird from our designer and someone else who had used them. Matt came out and was very professional and knowledgeable, provided some great input and ideas, and also did measurements on the first call. He then took our input back to the office and Jamie created several design options and came out to present them to us on her laptop. While she was here, she worked with us to fine tune the design, trying different looks until we settled on exactly what we wanted and then updated the estimate. She even brought stone samples and paint colors with her so we picked those out and were ready to go. It was a very efficient process - all done in our home - did not have to go to their office. We were sent a schedule and a few weeks later the project started. Everyone showed up on time, were very professional and extremely polite. They made sure that the site was kept clean and minimized dust during the construction. The project went very smooth, and was done exactly according to schedule.
