We have had a wonderful experience with Aquatech! We have done private and group lessons for our daughters, 4 and 2. The facilities are exceptional and the operations are so well done. The staff is friendly, and I marvel at how patient and well run everything is. My older daughter went from no technical swim skills to floating, kicking with proper form, going underwater for 20 seconds, and enjoying the water. It's incredible how much progress she's made in a short time! The one drawback is that they don't have a facility in Berkeley! Wish it was closer to us. read more

Total waste of money. Honestly, don't even bother coming here. The pool is way too cold half the time and the place is always dirty. The front desk staff is super rude and they act like you're bothering them if you have a simple question about your bill or the schedule. My kid hasn't learned a single thing in months because the teachers keep changing every week. It's impossible to get any consistency. Love AquaTech Swim School. I've went there for about a year and a half so my 9 year old kid could learn to swim. My kid didn't know how to swim at all when they started, and the goal was to get them to a point where we could safely go to a waterpark or swimming pool and they can be comfortable. This school delivers on that. They have a very methodical approach and my kid didn't move up level until they were ready. I'd say the only drawback to that method is that the class can feel repetitive so I made sure to tell my kid to ask the teacher what they should be working on and what to do differently exactly so they can achieve their goal and get to the next level. After a year and a half of weekly 30-minute class, my kid went from Seahorse to Tigershark level, but of course this is going to be different for every kid. My kid loves swimming in general so they were very motivated to learn. Overall, I'd recommend this school. read more

Now we are continuing to use this place for my little daughter to learn everything and she is doing great. We know she will be well thought here same like her sisters. We love AquaTech Swim School! We've been attending the Concord location for our daughter's first swim lessons - she started classes at 7 months old. We decided to start her getting comfortable with large bodies of water in anticipation of a vacation we had coming up close to her 10 month birthday, and weren't sure how things would go starting her a bit on the younger side. From the moment we arrived for our first tadpole lesson at AquaTech Concord, the staff was so welcoming, kind, and helpful! The facilities themselves are clean, well laid out, and they have a nice waiting area for parents to watch their kiddos swim as they become older and more advanced with lessons. (We attend class with our little one, since her tadpole classes include 1 parent or guardian in the water with them). Overall, each instructor seems to go above and beyond to make your little ones feel comfortable and confident in the water by using fun songs, toys, and games. The tadpole classes we attended were fantastic as well because the instructors took the time to thoroughly explain the drills we were doing, as well as how it would benefit baby in the water and ways we could practice at home if you had a bathtub. We look forward to each class and feel very confident that we'll all have a blast on vacation enjoying pool time safely now! Attending aqua tech started off great and then it became very disappointing. We moved to the area a couple years ago and welcomed a baby boy last summer. We have a pool at our home and decided that a pool gate may not be enough safety. So we decided to look at infant swim classes in the area for extra precautions. When googling we found that AquaTech had a deal on Groupon for 4 classes. We bought the Groupon and then contacted AquaTech through email for booking the set of 4 classes. (Since I'm home with a baby and working, it's hard to talk on the phone. Emails and texts can be easier since I can get to it once I have time.) It seemed to be a no brainer over email. I provided the Groupon info like they asked and I was told to then create a "customer portal". I created the Log In and proceeded with booking the 4 classes. Of course it requires a credit card on file. As a hairdresser myself, I understand that. We completed the 4, 30 minute classes and enjoyed it! Once we were leaving our 4th class, we spoke to someone at the front desk ensuring our Groupon would be used versus the credit card on file. I had received a text about the "monthly billing cycle". A few days later I received voicemails and emails explaining that the Groupon WOULD NOT be validated. I could "give to a friend or use on another sibling." I don't have another child, and no friend of mine wants to come here to use a Groupon and end up in the same situation. What kind of friend would I be by telling them what happened to us, but go ahead try it?? Yeah go ahead! Put your card on file and get charged twice? No thanks! We payed AquaTech $40, $140 We payed Groupon $68.40 Total 248.40 for 4 classes As a new mother I'm learning what to do with your infant, so I thought maybe trying swim class would be a good idea! Especially through Groupon. What if my son hates it? Or if he loves it, I'd come back for another 4! Just saying. You lost a future client. So be aware of this scam. I am a big fan of aquatech. I have taken both of my children here for 2 years for swim classes. My daughter has moved from being a timid swimmer to confidently performing beautiful strokes. My son has become less afraid of the water and is more water safe. The front desk staff is super friendly and helpful. The swim teachers are kind and encouraging. Their online process of reporting absences and scheduling make-ups is really easy and can be done at all hours. read more

Great place to bring your children for swim classes! The instructors are all so nice and friendly. I started my son when he was 6 months old, took a break and we're back now that he's 2. Can't tell you how happy I am that we have the same sweet instructor (Eva)! We've had other instructors step in while she's out and they're all just the nicest human beings. My son hasn't adjusted very well, and they're so patient. They do not force him to do anything he doesn't want to which I absolutely love! I've been to places where the instructor forces kids to participate and it made me feel very uncomfortable. Super disappointed and I think the customer service is disingenuous at best. Enrolled my kids in an available class at their current level after two years since their last lesson. I received a call the next morning that they were cancelling our enrollment bc they were I enrolled them at levels that were different from their last class. Which again was two years ago when my youngest was not even old enough to be out of the mommy and me class. So I got a voicemail that we were cancelled followed by an email stating the same. we will get a credit but their policy is no refunds. (Never mind that we never got the chance to show up and that AquaTech unceremoniously cancelled the enrollment.) But here's what really annoys me: I have no recourse. I called to try and get reinstated so we can make it to class, but it's not possible to speak to anyone directly to resolve it, I can only leave a message or send an email and wait for a call back. Now I have two upset crying kids bc they aren't going to swim class like I said we would and I'm out 130 bucks since I'm not going back to AquaTech after this. Our first day for this facility and it has been a super smooth process to transfer from Alameda to over here following our house move. Maxwell looked after us from A to Z and was clear, efficient and so pleasant. The faculties here are smaller hence quieter but it takes nothing away from the quality of the venue, the clever use of space and of course the aquatech pedagogy which as an educator myself admire for its smart goal approach and ethos. read more

Absolute waste of money. I purchased Groupons for both of my kids, after the four 30 minute weekly sessions, they gained zero new skills. They spent the four weeks drilling the same exact basic skill which they already knew how to do prior to attending. When I was my sons age (8), i took swimming lessons which spanned over four weeks and I learned how to tread water, and four fundamental strokes. They were not private lessons, they were group sessions with several other kids. This school prolongs the learning experience so parents have to keep renewing their "membership", which is a great business model but an absolute waste of money for their customers. read more

As a long-term customer, (5 of my older children were enrolled at Aquatech in Alameda, and had nothing but good experiences) I am highly dissapointed and angered by the staff at the Concord location. One of my younger sons was grabbed in a forceful manner by a swim instructor, during a lesson. This behavior I had never witnessed before, and I have attended many swim lessons at Aquatech over the past 10+ years. When I intervened, a problem ensued, which Aquatech staff directed at my response to the instructors assaulting behavior, instead of the actual issue at hand. MY CHILD WAS FORCEFULLY GRABBED, SEATED POOLSIDE, AND MADE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE!! This is unacceptable behavior from a professional "swim instructor". When I attempted to address this issue with the owners directly, via phone & email, The Aquatech staff refused to give me contact information or refer my isssue to the actual owners of the facility. I have since located the owners information on my own. If anyone needs the Aquatech owners contact information - please reach out to me. I am more than happy to provide the NAMES, ADDRESS, etc for the owners of Aquatech upon request. I do NOT recommend this establishment (any longer). There are better swim programs in the immediate area that are lower cost, that will not physically assault your children, and value your continued patronage! Or perhaps make time to teach your children to swim yourself, as I now have and it only took a few weeks, at a few hours per weekend, of dedicated time. Best wishes swimmers! read more

The staff is very ignorant and terrible at communicating. Good luck with someone ever answering you when you call and if they do, they are very ignorant. If your child's school funds don't come through for whatever reasons, they expect you to pay right then and there the $150 and if you don't, your child will not get to participate that day. I would definitely score the swim teachers, reception team a 5...sorry this is a 1. I tried to purchase a gift certificate for my son to enroll my grandson in swimming lessons 2 months ago. AquaTech referred me to their website and then a link. I paid $200. I followed their instructions to do something good. Then I find out that they don't honor the gift card and my son has to jump through all these hoops to get the gift card honored. I asked them to simply honor the gift card I purchased and they would not, and quite frankly, said it was my fault. Very disappointing and poor customer service. read more

My 1st son attended swimming lessons here a decade ago in 2009. He loved that the water was warm year-round so he had lessons even in the Fall/Winter, when it was chilly outside. Now my 3rd child started in 2019. Facility had little updates here and there, with more staff personnel, snack wall, and online scheduling. There were more swimming classes going on in the pool at the same time. Classes were 30min sessions, but I was really disappointed to watch my son's teacher "hang out/chit chat", and stare at the clock. She would let them out of the pool in the last 5-8min. It seems short, but if you think of it, that was 1/4 of my son's class time! She didn't even go another round with the students. Valuable learning time was lost! So what if they ended ON TIME?! It was really frustrating because it happened again during the 2nd session and they wouldn't even give my son a credit/re-take on the class after I complained. read more

They fake lie about promotions and no they do not have Olympic style pools - kids can't even swim the whole lap coz they are always over crowded- it's a mess and very scammy. My son has been taking classes here for about 7 months, and we've finally decided not to waste any more money. With 4 students per 30 minute class, each kids gets about 6 minutes of actual swim time, and the instructors spend a surprising amount of that time looking at a clipboard and talking to other instructors, seemingly trying to figure out what to do next. And with high instructor and student turnover, the teacher doesn't really know your kid very well so they don't know what your kid needs to focus on for fast improvement. The classes could be good for very hesitant swimmers, but if they are at all independent, it's painful to watch. It wasn't all bad--the instructors are very friendly and I love their positive style (two stars for that), but some teachers are much more enthusiastic than others. A few we've had seemed like they were just going through the motions. One of the other frustrating things was the lack of communication from management regarding teacher turnover. Multiple times (I think we're at 4) we've shown up to a new teacher (not just a sub). We asked over and over for them to let us know if the instructor changes, but they never once followed through. Then TWICE the front desk person lied and said they didn't have any record of it. We SAW the note in all caps on the computer screen right in front of their face! They just smile and say, we'll make sure to note that for next time. We chose our classes according to instructor, so it got really annoying. Some teachers, while nice, just aren't very good, so it definitely matters who you get. More recently when I called to withdraw, the person I spoke with said that they like to change the teachers a lot so that the kids "learn resilience." How about ya'll just stick to teaching my kid how to swim, huh? Above all, it's just painful to watch them standing on the platform for the majority of class. We gave it a solid shot, but in the end it was clear it was a waste of time and money. read more

My 20-month old toddler got severely ill with a crypto bacterial infection (103F fever, diarrhea, and dehydration) and a chlorine rash, after attending a class here on Oct. 2nd that sent him to urgent care. We have been members since August, and when I called to let them know, I was told by the manager, Leah that the pool is clean because there's chlorine, and that she didn't know what my question was. Even though, I had tried to ask in several ways if the facility followed or had any protocol in these situations. I was STUNNED by the rude dismissive tone Leah took in response to a TODDLER becoming severely ill after attending class there. Leah told me that the issue would be looked into and that someone would call me back. Instead, I find a partial refund credited to my card, a drop from the class on my account (even though I didn't request that, as I was initially going to wait for the results from the Environmental Health Department), and no follow-up whatsoever. I understand that some risk is associated with public classes, however, I would expect a business that advertises services for BABIES to want to assure parents that their pool is not only safe but there are protocols in place when incidents like this occur. If you're okay with risking the health of your child at a business that could care less about whether or not your child gets ill in their care, this is the swim school for your family. If not, avoid this place like the plague. There are other swim schools in the area that value the health of the children in their classes. I've never in my life been more disgusted with a business. Shame on you Aquatech Concord! read more

I would give no starts if it was possible. Their policies are worse than a German Gestapo. We've been going there for over 6 months, no problems. My wife who's a graveyard nurse, had to cancel her card on file because of possible fraud. Since she works at night, she neglected to inform them (our fault). But as I walked in my son jumped in the water leaving me at the check in table. Their true colors showed that they are all about the money. Since my card was declined they said i have to pull my son out of the water? Seriously? I told them I'll just take care of it next week, what's the big deal? They said it's their policy. Needless to say my son was disappointed. The guy who helped me "David" was absolutely useless, but in his defense, when I asked for a "manager" he said they are "all managers." So I guess their all useless? I say this because they said they could not take care of my issue unless I pay them; I would, but it was my wife's account and they wouldn't take a check. When I asked for a "real manager," they said they can only document the incident and someone will get back to me. Screw them. If my money isn't green enough I'll just go somewhere else. The just lost two clients; myself and a friend I recommended who I just reached out to and told him not to take his kids there and I caught him just before he was going to enroll. Good timing. Horrible place. Regret ever going there; extremely unprofessional. read more

I brought a swim student to this school and for 2 months not only that she did not learn anything, but she lost skill that she previously had. I spoke with management and staff multiple times and yesterday, I just had enough of their excuses. Will definitely look for other swim schools and hoping to get a prorated refund. Great instructors and environment! Everyone goes above and beyond to make the kid's experience amazing! From the instructors in the water to the staff checking you in, everyone is friendly and put the kids at the center of all they do. My kids have been going there for about 6 months and they are now both very comfortable in the water and know how to swim independently although my little one needs a bit more confidence in the water, she's leaps and bounds above from where she started thanks to her lessons.
