We signed up for swim lessons hoping to nurture my daughter's love of the water. Instead, we ended up with weekly tears. The program isn't adaptable to the child's needs at all. Instead, they expect very young kids to conform to a rigid teaching style, regardless of how it affects them. I eventually requested to cancel our membership. I hadn't planned to share how disappointed I was, I just wanted to walk away quietly. But when the receptionist pressed for a reason, I calmly explained that it simply wasn't a good fit for my family. Her response? She told me my 3-year-old daughter was "too sensitive." That was not only completely unprofessional, but also incredibly inappropriate. I wasn't asking for feedback. I was trying to protect my child from an environment where the teacher was far too serious for a toddler and clearly not the right match. Swimming should be fun, especially at this age. Period. This place missed the mark, and then doubled down on the failure by dismissing a parent's concern. We won't be back. read more

We were very disappointed with our experience at this swim school. Our kids weren't making any real progress, and the lessons just didn't seem effective. When we decided to stop attending, management showed no willingness to offer a refund--instead, they only provided a credit for future use. What they don't make clear is that using that credit later requires paying a new enrollment fee, which feels very misleading. Overall, we're frustrated with both the lack of results and the poor customer service. read more

Overall there are a lot of good qualities with this swim school, but after bringing my toddler here for about a year, I can't say I'd recommend it. 1) there were at least a couple of occasions where the teacher got frustrated with our daughter (now 3) for not progressing in swim lessons as fast as the teacher thought she should. It wasn't even about bad toddler behavior, which I might even be a little sympathetic to; it was about our daughter continuing to hate back-floats. Sorry she's not a natural back floater I guess. 2) the cancellation policy is one of those ridiculous "must come in person to sign a form over 30 days prior to your next billing cycle. This is clearly designed to juice you for one more month of billing if you want to leave, which I think is a horrible business practice every time i see it and should be called out. On the good side, it is worth noting that the staff was very friendly (with the exception of those couple of times) and professional. The facilities are clean and they really emphasize water safety as the first skills. read more

We recently moved to Idaho and were in search of a great year-round swim program. Aqua-tots has a pretty small pool, but the coaches & staff are amazing. They have great programs specifically designed for each age and skill group and make it fun. I wish they had more times available for classes, they are closed Friday & Sunday and during the day just have one class at a time going. Stephanie who is the GM is the heart of this place and I've seen her on multiple occasions bring comfort to worried kids, she is so patient and seems to genuinely adore all of the kids. We see coach Naya for both of our kids abs we really like her, she is excellent at helping shape skill in young swimmers! read more

This place is great! We had both of our small children enrolled until we had to move out of state. Parker was the coach. Two different age groups at two different times. Staff are extremely friendly and professional. Staff do change however there are many co-teaching and training sessions and smooth transitions so parents can meet the new coaches. I think it's completely acceptable that there are changing coaches as this is a part-time job and primarily attracts college students, but knowing that the transition is smooth and training is offered to the new coach I think that's the best practice for both the families and students. This allows a smooth transition. I would just recommend checking in on what skills are targeted during sessions. Both of my children attend here and they have done very well. One of my children struggled, and they paid closer attention to him to help him through the skills which I appreciated, they are always welcoming to hearing feedback from Parents which I also appreciate, and I also appreciate the feedback I received at the end of sessions from the coaches during class, lastly I appreciate the reinforcer Box that's put in place. It encourages positive positive behaviors during classes in order to earn tokens to get awesome prices from a treasure box. As a parent who is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst I think that's a great way to do things to help increase positive behaviors while in the pool. read more

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE! 1. All they care about is the money. They drag the sessions out to make more money. And read the contract, when you cancel they charge you an extra month - even if unhappy. 2. They change teachers way too much and if you understand child development and how to support it, this is a recipe , NOT for success. 3. Most of the teachers go through the motions during class checking off what they need to get done. It's quite obvious and robotic. 4. Last straw with this place....a recent class the teacher let our son go too early before the steps. Luckily he was tall enough to tip toe over (any smaller and he would have been under) but she was so focused on talking to the other kids in class she missed it. Why! No idea since she had our child in her hands and all attention should be on him. So many other places to choose from. Go elsewhere. read more

Parker is AMAZING! He was so patient with our babes. My little boy was very upset at times and he let me do whatever I wanted in our comfort zone to ease him through the lesson. Parker is very compassionate, and ALL the aqua-tot staff is great. I saw a guy (don't know his name) that picked up a toddler girl who was freaking out and calmed her in the water so her parents didn't even have the need to come to her aid and by the end of the lesson she was smiling. They are just the best group of instructors. They are the only swim school that I would recommend! read more

I have experience with other swim schools and can say this school isn't run well. My toddlers young teacher was unfriendly and condescending on our first visit. Haven't heard from her since because now she provides zero feedback. I have no idea what she is saying to my toddler because your behind glass and can't hear. (Wyatt is an exception - very friendly teacher). The pool is small, the teachers provide zero feedback, and my other child can't even get on the schedule at a decent time. Classes are crowded and your child spends 2/3s of the time against the wall waiting. I'd say they actually swim for 7-8 minutes per lesson. read more

We have been going to Aqua-Tots for about 6 years. My 7-year-old is an incredible swimmer, way better than my husband or I. Both my kids have always loved their lessons, have developed consistent swimming skills, and progress a little bit each and every week. Horrible experience!! I called back in March to enroll my 4 and 2.5 yr old and a member of the staff told us a new class would be opening up April 6th at 12:30 for both my boys and to call back on Saturday. Called back Saturday and a different girl said, it's too early to enroll-- call back Wed. Called back Wednesday and they got me enrolled. Said we're all good to go. We couldn't make it April 6th, so I called ahead of time to schedule a makeup class and they said sure thing, we'll add it to their accounts. Showed up next week for class and they have no record whatsoever of us enrolling. No record of our calls or notes about all our conversations. Now there are no classes available for them. SO frustrated with this company! SO unprofessional! Would NOT recommend to anyone, unless they want a major headache to deal with throughout their time here. Hard pass. read more

I want to love this place, but it just isn't run very well. Registration isn't available online and took multiple phone calls over a period of weeks, even though I knew exactly when I wanted to start baby swim lessons. Everyone we spoke with told us something different and there was lots of confusion. Shortly before our first lesson, they sprung their "double diaper" policy on us and wanted us to buy swim diapers from them. So far we've had a different teacher every week and only one seemed qualified to teach. The others, while friendly, are quite young and don't explain the long-term goals behind what we're doing and don't know how to lead a class. They sort of stand around and watch the parents swim with their babies, then the parents have to say, "Okay, what are we doing next?" They tend to run out of ideas about 10 minutes before class is over. Twice I've had to remind the instructor which skills we haven't practiced yet, even though they have cheat-sheet cards they read during class. All in all, the experience is definitely NOT worth their regular price of almost $20 per half-hour lesson. For that price, I'd expect dedicated professionals who are consistent and effective when teaching children. read more

I bought swim lessons for my granson who is 15 months old. The class size was perfect with only 4 students (the max they offer for this age group) Both my daughter and grandson had a blast. The instuctor was very hands on . Classes are once a week for 8 weeks. I love the fact they focus on saftey issues such as reducing risk of drowning. The other great thing about this facility is that they offer birthday parties ! What a great idea for kids that have birthdays in the winter months. I highly recomend giving these folks a chance.Your child will be safer when it comes to water. In response to the other review , Afternoons seems to be the best time to reach these folks for class info. I was told about the double diaper when I inquired and was given several options as to where I could purchase. I would much rather have a double diaper rather than the alternitive , The pool and facility are CLEAN! read more

Spent thousands of dollars here only for my kids to be given a life long fear of water. We stopped swim lessons here in 2020 after trying for a very long time with Aqua tots (l I don't even know why I tried with them so long. I just wanted my kids to learn to swim and be safe around water I guess). My now 8 year olds not only can't swim now, but when I've tried to enroll them in swim lessons at other places they are so fearful of water now and of swim lessons that I cannot get them to go anywhere. They say that they're afraid the instructors will "hold their heads under water" like they did at aqua tots. So essentially all I got for my money is traumatized kids. I know a lot of people have had good experiences here but we did not so I would not recommend. I'm writing this review over a year later because I'm still trying to get my kids enrolled in swim lessons and they are still traumatized and it makes me very sad. read more

I am giving aqua tots a 1 star solely for my experience with the lady who was running the front desk. I brought up three issues and each issue was faced with the response "I can't really verify that" or " I will need to verify that". Her customer service skills were outrageous. I am a professional in the community and we were paying over $200 a month of my son's lessons. They had some staff turnover so when I let her know what had been said to me she indicated that the staff were no longer there so what they told me was "unverifiable". I immediately canceled our lessons and let her know my son would not be back for "make-up" classes. I am sad because as another reviewer mentioned... I really wanted to love this place but their staff really needs to get it together. We won't be back! read more

Aqua tots was recommended to us when our son was 18 months. He loved going to class. Once he switched to Miss Jen he was building the confidence he needed to swim. With the verbal praise, high fives and her challenging his skills each week he was more successful. All week long he talks about going swimming and sharing with Miss Jen something new he has done during the week. Miss Jen, his instructor and Miss Courtney, at the front desk, have taken the time to get to know him and his interest. They work well with our schedule. When we signed up they were quick to answer our questions and made a new class for our son and his friends; therefore we could do the mommy and me class altogether. This is the cleanest facility I have been to. The water is always warm and clean. The kids double up on their swim diapers which allows for a cleaner pool. There is a little play area that my son always looks forward to before swim and after he gets a prize for doing well in swim. Positive reinforcement is huge with him. Miss Jen finds what works for each individual kid to help them be safe in the water and have fun at the same time in the pool. When she moved him up to the next level she went in and sat and watched him. This meant so much to us. It made him feel safe with his new instructor. We highly recommend Aqua tots! It might be a little more but we believe you get what you pay for. Our son is happy and has learned a lot of skills for just starting a level 3 class! read more

We are not happy with Aqua Tots in Eagle due to their lack of clear instruction and organization. Here is one example: They sent out invitation to the members by email with the invitation to Friday free lessons so that new instructors get practice. It was a great offer, the email they sent out stated what levels are given free class at what time. We got there for our level two on time (half-hour drive with a small child through the Friday afternoon traffic and then half hour back). It turned out we had to call in advance in order to participate in the class. Apparently, their website does have that info somewhere, or so they claimed. The question is: why didn't they mention it in the email they sent out to the customers? It seemed to be an easy thing to do, right? We are not happy with this lack of consideration and are cancelling the class. Also, the instructors keep looking in their notes during the class. Not professional. I agree with other reviewers that the school is not run well. read more

When I enrolled my two children in swim lessons, the only option was the YMCA. Both my children had horrible experiences there so I am so thankful to now have Aqua Tots in the Treasure Valley. The pool is very warm, clean, and clear. The store and locker areas are kept tidy and clean as well. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the front desk staff. The teenage girls they have working the desk weren't very friendly or informative. I received more information from the instructor than the desk girls. Every time I've been in they never seem to engage in any sort of work. The instructors and the overall curriculum is what keep us coming back! I love that they focus more on safety and life saving than turning kids into olympic swimmers. I currently have a child in level 4 and level 2 with Coach Jen. My children started with another instructor, but progressed and learned more in one make-up lesson with Jen than they did with any other instructor. She is one of, if not the best instructor they have! Each time my children accomplish a goal, they enthusiastically receive high fives and praise from her. She also gives out a lot of encouragement when they struggle. With my 16 month old, she was very informative and explained not only how to do things but why we were doing them. My kids talk about Coach Jen all day after swim lessons. I highly recommend Aqua Tots to anyone. read more

I am incredibly impressed with the experience my daughter has had at Aqua-Tots Swim School in Eagle. We started swim lessons in June of this year, and in three months my daughter has gone from being scared of the water to almost independently swimming on her own. My daughter has been in classes led by about five different instructors throughout her time, and not only have they all been professional and effective, but my daughter has genuinely liked each of them. They have all done a good job of finding the balance between providing support and pushing her to become independent, and all have been able to keep my 3-year-old interested and having fun throughout all of her classes. Their make-up class policy is incredibly convenient and forgiving, the front desk is very helpful, and the results we've seen have made us feel as though our investment has been well worth it. This is an excellent swim school! My daughter would not even put her face in the water when we started swimming lessons and in less a month they have her grabbing rings off the bottom of the pool! I just got off the phone with a sweet gal named Maddie, who helped answer all my questions re. swim lessons for my baby girl. I just want to say WOW. She was polite, super nice and helpful. I can't wait for us to start swim lessons next month! It really makes a difference to have someone so willing to help you out, and that it seems she truly enjoys her job.
