We purchased a blemished model from Aqua Spa in December a year ago. We did this knowingly as it was a workaround to the shortage of hot-tubs that is currently ongoing.
The stated procedure was that it would be brought to factory standards by repairing/replacing any parts that were part of the marked blemish.
There was some issues with the shipping dates in regards to what was stated in person, versus what ended up on the contract, but that is on me for not checking the contract.
The contract also listed out a serial number for my blemished hot tub.
We settled on the date that our hot-tub was to be delivered with reservations, but it was in the contract.
Suddenly, Courtney, called us to let us know our hot-tub would be delivered. They also stated that the color on our hot-tub listed was incorrect, and if we were okay with a different color.
They also said there would need to be an electrician on sight the day of install, because there was water in the unit. It would freeze otherwise.
They said that it was -our- hot-tub, and the one we ordered. They never once said that it would be a demo-model that had been used.
We said that the color change was fine as was the electrician, but I became suspicious. They were quite clear on the coloring because the model they were selling us had sat in a warehouse. Unused/untouched.
That there was no water in the system at all.
Given how they had treated us during the delivery process, where they quite literally hung up on me and told me to just "refund it, we don't make any money on these models anyways", I suspected they were being fraudulent.
Upon delivery of said hot-tub, I immediately checked the serial number.
This was not our hot-tub. They had baited us with one hot-tub, an unused one, and switched it with a demo-model after all.
The serial numbers did not match at all.
On top of that, they were unable to provide filters, our cover, or install a cover to protect this unit that wasn't ours.
We accepted the hot-tub at the time provided that they would send us updated paperwork to indicate the change in serial number. I was concerned they wouldn't honor the warranty if it wasn't the same serial number.
This has only been a few days since then, but no paperwork.
Now, the cover blew off in a wind-storm, the hot-tub was filled with debris overnight, and due to the fact that it had no filter, it is likely very damaged.
Rather than the unit sitting unfilled, as we had planned with the one we purchased that wasn't a demo unit, this one had to be filled and turned on otherwise it would freeze. Now, the debris has likely made it into the system itself and the unit is making a loud grinding noise.
We've notified Aqua Spas of the issue, and had contacted them in regards to the Serial number bait and switch, the lack of a filter, and the missing cover, all.
They have said they would send us paper work (didn't happen), ship us filters (they never arrived), and get us our cover(it isn't here). Next they will likely tell me they'll send out a service-man to repair the hot-tub that makes a grinding noise.
Updated: They did manage to eventually get most things to how they should be. Except for the panels of the tub constantly break and need to be put back on. They charge me every single time, despite it clearly being a product issue.
It finally sprung a leak for no reason and they wanted to argue with me over the phone about how they don't warranty freeze damage. It isn't freeze damage, it was full, it broke, now it isn't.
After going round and round with them, they finally agreed to send someone out. And by the way, that'll cost you another couple hundred dollars.
Except, surprise, they wouldn't be able to send someone out for an entire week. If there was freeze damage in that time, it wouldn't be covered under warranty.
That I needed to, and I'm not joking here, put a corded ceramic heater inside of the panels so that it didn't freeze. Because they didn't have an emergency technician on hand to come assist me with THEIR product.
I'm done. Absolute scam. Save yourself. read more
