All the right insights for how to keep us in budget, and very generous with (we can add this/that for little/no extra costs since we're already doing XYZ). We mainly requested a bid on two projects (Kitchen and Primary Bathroom) and help deciding the scope for the remainder of our projects (Flooring, Guest Bath, Office, Patio, Etc.). We were very impressed with how realistic, but also open-minded he was with what portion of our "bonus" projects we could fit in. The formal quote came in fast after our initial meeting, was easy to follow, and fairly priced. Found the proposed timeline to be very well balanced for efficiency vs realism. Appreciated the suggestions provided for if we should/could "live-in" during the remodel vs. a timeline that would allow the bulk of the work to overlap with a time that we were going to be out of town already. Also insights on what it would be worth "buying in advance" to take advantage of sales, even if the actual work was delayed. We got a few quotes and would have felt confident moving forward with any of them when the time came, but the quality of their portfolio and Avi's attentive listening definitely put Teamwork Home Designs at the top of the list. I hired Carlos from R Home Together Construction to build a custom bed and bookshelf nook in a…read moresecondary bedroom. What should have been a straightforward project turned into an expensive and dangerous mess. The project ended up doubling in price from the original quote. More concerning was the unsafe electrical work done under Carlos' supervision. He brought in someone who posed as an electrician (but wasn't licensed) to install two reader lights mid-wall which he then covered with the built-in. Soon after, the circuit breaker kept tripping every time I turned on the room lights. I hired a licensed electrician who uncovered: * Two live wires left inside the wall with no caps and no boxes * A 20-amp outlet installed on a 15-amp circuit * Undersized wiring that couldn't safely support the installed outlets and fixtures To fix this serious fire hazard, I had to completely remove the built-in, which meant the money I spent on it was basically thrown away. I contacted Carlos to ask for a refund to help offset the electrical repair costs, and he flat-out refused, saying that because he "delivered the built-in," he had fulfilled his part. There was no acknowledgment of the negligence, safety violations, or unlicensed electrical work done under his direction. I also attempted to pursue compensation through other channels, like the Yelp Guarantee but was told nothing could be done because a "product" was technically delivered, even though that product had to be destroyed to prevent a house fire. This experience was frustrating, expensive, and downright dangerous. Carlos and R Home Together Construction takes zero accountability. I would strongly urge others to avoid working with this company, especially if you value safety, professionalism, or honest business practices.
