Bella was the main worker there who assisted my husband, 4 year old and I. She was wonderful! So kind, patient and knowledgeable. She was able to answer all of our questions, walking us through the purchase/ financing options and still be so sweet with our four year old whenever he wanted to hold her hand and guide her to the next bird he had questions about. We will definitely be coming back once we are ready to have a new feathered friend in the family.

I believe this is the "original" Dave's location, and I do prefer it to the Springfield location…read more Here's why: 1) great selection of small pets (hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, snakes, frogs, lizards, fish, etc) and birds. Everything is clean and the animals are well cared for. I especially loved the walk-in aviary. 2) the bottle redemption center is cordoned off to a back corner and has walls around it to help reduce the noise. The one in Springfield is just in the back and it can get very loud at times. They also have great soda for sale, can mix and match to your heart's desire. Lots of local craft soda from New England. We just bought 12! I do love that their toy section prices seems to be right on target for other big-box pet stores, but I have found that they tend to carry *more* of the pricier/better food, and less of the more generic types. Their prices on the generic pet food is a few dollars higher than what you'd pay at Wal*Mart. I will stick to buying fun toys and treats at Dave's, and splurge on sodas for the humans.

We brought our labradoodle to a location in CT after months of no grooming due to covid -19. If you know labradoodles, u know they have very long hair which easily Gets matted, deep under the furry exterior. That location wound up having to shave very low to the base of the fur, but our dog still came out handsome as can be; fluffy tail and face, but low shave on the body. (As shown in the image provided) After waiting a few months for dog works to open, because it is much closer...our dog once again needed a groom desperately. We brush him daily - but we're advised by dog works that, that is not enough. (Due to the information they provided and friendliness, I gave them two stars) however our dog once again needed to be cut short. The problem is, when we saw our dog after already paying and generously tipping, he didn't even look like himself. My family owns a alpaca farm, I would much relate the shaving job to that of how we shave our alpacas once a year; uneven and rushed. All that is left fluffy on our dog is a portion of his tail. Our dog is still the most handsome boy but they took away his character. Will not be returning.

During the "interview" I spent the majority of the time sitting uncomfortably in silence while Alice ranted on and on about how INCREDIBLY happy she was that I am not ugly or overweight. Odd, right? Fast forward, the new hire and I are aimlessly walking around the barn alone with no idea what to do. We quickly noticed the horses had NO HAY, NO WATER, NO BEDDING, and were tacked up from open to close. The girths remained tightly secured the entirety of the day. Almost every horse had several burs stuck in their manes, tails, and forelocks. It appeared they had not been groomed in WEEKS. During the short time of handling these poor horses, Nicole and I noticed they were all broken down in some way. 100% were lame. 100% had ribs showing too much. 100% were so obviously unhappy. Aside from the horses, Dennis was extremely creepy. He would slowly follow us around the barn in his car without saying a word. He even threw his cigarette at Nicole. He would tell us to do something, leave, come back, and then ask why the f**k we were doing what he told us to do. I met the ONE employee they have and needless to say, he was more than willing to dive into how shitty the owners are without me asking. It was also apparent that he abuses the horses and is NOT a horse person. Additionally, Alice and Dennis were more than willing to dive into how "dumb and slow" their only employee is without me asking. I left crying because I felt so horrible for those poor animals. Do not buy from here, do not take pony rides from here, do not take trails from here, do not send your horse here, do not do not DO NOT! Nicole contacted me a day or two later explaining how she confronted Alice about the quality of her horses. Unsurprisingly, Alice responded very aggressively. To the people considering doing business here: DO NOT. Alice and Dennis do not care about their horses in any way, shape, or form. I was excited since I needed a groomer for my two Furr-babies. They are brothers but one takes after their dad who happens to be a Maine Coon, so needing a local place to cut their claws and shave Louie, the Maine coon of the two, was essential. I called and spoke to the owner, Nicole, who was such a pleasure and made sure to ask me the right questions as to what I needed and wanted for Louie so she could book enough time for the appointment. I also learned that she only has one animal at a time in the grooming room so as to not stress the animals out anymore than necessary, which I LOVED! When my appointment day came, they were very sensitive to the fact that my boys DO NOT like going into their carriers so they ride free in the car. I bring the carriers in with me because they are extremely willing to go into the carriers knowing they will be going home in them. Nicole was very understanding and since all Huey Hefner needed done was his claws, he was brought in first. By the time I went back out to the car to get Louie Dewey, Huey was all set and in his carrier! So she immediately got down to business with Louie and made quick work of him. I was so impressed with how fast she was because she came out to help other customers along with telling me how well he was doing. I will recommend Nicole, and of course her mom, (which I'm soooo embarrassed to admit I don't remember her name....and SHE even gave Louie a smiley face sticker because of how well he did!), to anyone and everyone! I love that she only does one dog at a time, so no dog is in a kennel after a bath and waiting for their turn to get their haircut. Leah was so relaxed when I picked her up and instead of rushing to the door to get out, she was strolling around, so comfortable and stress-free. And her price is very reasonable!
