After my grandma had her thyroid panel done, we came to Dr Aqeel for results but upon each visit, i find myself having to constantly explain why we are there as Dr Aqeel has no clue. Even after she orders bloodwork, we visit for results but instead we get told my grandmas hair is outdated and she needs a new hair style. I'm sorry yall, but is this a damn salon or thyroid specialist? As confused as she is why we even enter her office, I also am more confused myself as to why she's still practicing? She'll look you dead in the face and say you don't look good when there's nothing wrong. Idk yall your thyroid is in your hands, if you end up walking in her office, turn around and walk out. Worst Endo dr I have ever experience, I went there for the first time and she did not let me talk, then while she we was talking I told I had jut had breast reduction surgery, she looked at my results and said .. if i was the dr I would not have done the surgey.. SHE relplied YOU could have had a Thyroid storm....me thinking lady these are the results, I received after my surgery, I did get blood draw before my surgery and clearance also a chest Xray and A EKG...So my surgeon made sure I was ok before they did my surgery. and then she replied while walking me out..by the way you are diabetic ....Honestly I was there for my thyroid not my breast..When I left this office i was in tears.. read more

I went into her office with low blood sugar issues and she is the only one that listened to me and took me seriously. She had me get a full blood work and that came back and without another office visit she said I needed a CT Scan. I wasted several years going to other doctors and I am thankful the tumor they found on my pancreas was not cancerous yet. Had I not have gone to her this would have been a different story. I explained my medical history and some issues i've had with my ovary etc. and when she was examining it she flat out laughed and said you're fine. 2 weeks later my ovarian cyst burst. Every time I have an appointment, it lasts maybe 3 minutes? I can't get a word in, my questions are treated like I'm not an actual human. I understand she looks at the same labs all day every day, but she needs to improve on listening to patients and maybe possibly consider digging a little deeper to help people. 1. She had no answers as to why my heart is racing and I'm having palpitations, and my throat swells directly after I take my levothyroxine. 2. She said diet has no effect in thyroid (so wrong) 3. suggested I drink the Tap water because it has iodine in it, or maybe she's saying not to drink it? I have no idea because there was no elaboration and again, it's hard to even get a word in and have her actually stop and listen. 4. She refused to test for anything other than the basic thyroid panel, the same panel that millions of patients test for only to continued to feel like crap. Where is a doctor who will do a full thyroid panel after each dose change to TRULY Check everything to see what is FULLY going on? Why not at least try? Why is it automatically disregarded? But for an appointment to last only a couple of minutes and then send me on my way... so disheartening. Dr Aqeel has been treating my husband for a few years now. She is a very caring and attentive Endocrinologist. Now that his thyroid levels have normalized, we only return for routine checkups. She was truly helpful during a very trying time. We appreciate her excellent care. Her office staff is courteous as well. read more

Firstly, I am not of fan of forums such as this, however if one does not know about their staff then this is how they find out. I have been a patient of Dr Aqeel for a few years now, and I really like her as my specialist dr. When it comes to her staff...they are not only not nice, they simply don't seem to be motivated. When calling, they instantly put me on hold without even knowing why I am calling. My average wait time is between 10 -15 minutes. When I go to the office, it's the same process, just in person. Her staff has no problem taking my money(co-pay), but won't go the extra mile to make sure one is taken care of. I was simply calling to say I wouldn't be able to make my appointment, but after 10 minutes of waiting, I gave up and sent an email. Hopefully, my email reaches the doctor. read more

My experience with the Dr and her staff is very satisfactory. Her office emits a friendly vibe, and have been nothing but courteous to me. DR. Aqeel is a joke of a doctor. My husband Reggie has had to have her for the last 9 months. My husband has been a severe Type 1 diabetic. For 50 years he was only had prick his fingers and take his medications in 2004 due to the flu he got DKA. And was put on Humlog 3 times a day and Lantus long action for bedtime, usesa pen you dial and shot. Since he had Dr. Aqeel for the last 9 months does not know what she doing. She works for Kindred Hospital in Ontario, she is contracted out. And since she had him every day his numbers has been so low the blood meter just register LOW or they let his sugars drop pass 50. I've try to tell her he not your average diabetic. I even gave her his Primary Endocrinologist Dr. Richard Berkson phone number so she could call and talk to him to get insight into his diabetes who is top of his field and he known my husband for 18 years now. But she told me it was not necessary she knew her job so let me do my job. I have try to fired her but Kindred Hospital in Ontario won't let her go. Reggie's Endocrinologist feels that she is going to put him in a coma. They call it a Diabetic Coma, and some time they come out of coma, but my Reggie is 81 and Dr. R. Berkson is worried she will put him in a coma he may never come out of. She plays with my husband diabetic numbers and has NO CLUE WHAT SHE DOING. If you want to live a full life which you can with diabetes because my husband has been a diabetic for 54 years now. No problems still he wound up with Dr. R. Aqeel now I feel she on a mission to kill him. She doesn't have clue she just go by what she was taught and by what she read in a textbooks. Reggie's Endocrinologist is top of his field in Long Beach, CA and at his wing at UCLA. If your looking to live long life with diabetes and your Endocrinologist his Dr. Aqeel all I can say is run don't walk and drop her like a hot potatoes. I had to get a lawyer to have her license revoked. This is how good she is, I have called her every day this week. And she won't call me back. As Ieave this review I'm waiting for her to call me back. And her and I don't see eye to eye any way. We've been butting heads for 9 months now. I've been dealing with her 9 months now and have nothing nice to say about her, except for if your a diabetic she WILL KILL YOU. So if you want or need more information or have questions on Dr. R. The doctor is great, but her front staff makes it all not worth it. The girls at the desk are rude. Don't like to be bothered and favor certain types of people. I feel like an annoyance. Pros: I have been to this office once. The wait was minimal compared to other doctors offices. If wait is of major concern then this may be a good choice. Everything was clean and organized. The staff was respectful although not particularly friendly but not bad or rude - just kind of doing their job. The doctor is experienced and ordered the appropriate tests. Her check up was fine and overall she took some time with me to understand my life, age, background and so on. Cons: This doctor's medical opinion is that women should not breastfeed past 18 months. It was the first time I heard a medical professional say this. She was actually appalled that I would still nurse my 3 year old - if only once or twice a day. La Leche League for example recommends allowing your child to self-wean. My child's pediatrician thinks it's fine. But there you go. Don't expect breastfeeding support here past 18 months. The office does not take any credit or debit cards at all - not over the phone, in person or by mail. If you have an FSA or HSA and a high deductible be prepared to have to pay cash or check and go through the trouble of getting reimbursed by your account. Before going here you need money in the bank not your medical savings account. The office staff is apparently not authorized to allow you to know your lab results. You call and then you have to wait for the doctor to evaluate it and then -maybe- they will say something is elevated. But if you are used to know your numbers - they won't tell you. read more

They owe me money. I overpaid bc there was glitch with insurance and paid them and now that insurance got their act together this office had owed me money since December of 2019. IeC contacted everyone from medical board to better business bureau to report them. read more

After reading the comments of the few patients that went to Dr Aqueel I feel bad they had to go through the same as I went through. This Dr Mis diagnosed my thyroid Condition and said I had "Thyroiditis" when I realty I have hyperthyroid. She told me she couldn't do nothing but prescribe me Advil or Ibuprofen.. when in reality I had hyperthyroid problem. Firstly I made my appointment back in December for soonest, which was February. The office never got my authorization, which I didn't find out until I'd already been waiting 30 minutes for my appointment. Their fax machine was obviously jacked up. Their biller supposedly can't do anything without the whole authorization, rather than just the number. Overall I waited three hours to be told she probably can't help me and next time to have my authorization ready. The MA didn't even take my height. Her office only takes cash.
