We have called this company multiple times asked them not to spray our yard. We did not sign a contract and when they stated we did we asked for proof of the contract they could not provide it, they turned us over to their collection agency and they said they didn't have a contract. They continue to show up, we decline their service. We had to cancel our debit cards to get them to quit take REMOVED money out of our accounts. Sold on false hope. The lady sounded very convincing and made it clear on my side of things of getting rid of my mice/voles/yellow jackets/other bugs out of my yard first time around, and then the other services will help maintain the yard to keep them away. Just spoke with the" headquarter manager", told me that they purposely spray the area and it doesn't harm it until the next services. So I called them out saying "so it was faulty?" And he basically agreed, and then started to back his words. Not worth the attitude+money He was rude when I said, I want to speak to someone higher than him and he would not give me the opportunity cause he's the "superior" there. I desire to back out from this faulty service. And they won't let me without me paying almost double the price of a service. Plus, their service guy told my wife he was confident the traps would work and they're the best but we have not caught one wasp or rodents since and actually had to buy different traps from Amazon that worked better. This company is a scam. I signed up for the service based on what the sales rep told me. Almost everything their rep told me was a lie. They continue to bill me throughout the winter claiming they're spraying my yard for mosquitoes and hornets. Nevermind the fact that they haven't made any contact with me in months, no notices of service left after they supposedly spray my yard, no emails and no one in my household has seen an aptive employee in our yard since September. Then when I called to cancel I was told I couldn't cancel because I no longer have the phone number I had when I signed up for their service. They need my old number to cancel service but don't need it to continue billing me? Every aspect of my experience with this company has been trash. Aptive is a fraudulent company and they will scam you out of your money. Unfortunately yelp won't allow me to give a 0 star rating so they get a 1 by default. read more

Be careful! We are very unsatisfied with how sneaky they can be. Everything's easy when you want to sign up and hire them, but it's not the same when you need to cancel their service. Because of an ant issue, we hired them last year and they offered us a $100/month service. We are moving now and needed to cancel their service, and they charged us a $200 penalty because apparently we had a 2-year permanency. We were never informed verbally of that when we first hired their service. They should inform of their cancellation policies. Had we known, we would have never singed up for a 2a year permanency contract. We just checked now and it was under small letter on the contract conditions. That's sneaky! It's not ok for companies not to be upfront about their policies, making it very easy for you to sign up and surprising you with unexpected fees and conditions when you want to cancel. I don't know how the owners of these companies can sleep at night knowing they've build a business model on deceptive marketing practices. 1) Ignored my No Solicitation sign, but hey, I had some earwigs that needed terminating. 2) In the sales pitch you are never told you are signing up for a subscription. They couch it like you are signing up for a service. In the past I've never had this happen with other service providers. Only later did they tell you that you should have read the fine print. 3) Ask for a credit card up front. This should have been the first sign of bad thing to come. No ability to cancel from the website is another red flag. 4) When you point out to customer service that you were deceived, they tell you "Sorry! Should have read the fine print.", but hey, we can discount your further services. What they don't tell you is that by doing so, you reset your contract and that all prior service(s) don't count toward your subscription fulfillment terms. In the end it is just cheaper to cancel then to carry out your remaining services. 5) Only after escalating my customer service complaint to a manager and threatening a scathing BBB, Google, Yelp and Social Media reviews did they let me out of my contract; though only a single service early mind you. He could have let me off the hook for two and that is the reason I'm going to review bomb this company through every means necessary. I will say that the service techs were great and professional. Cancelled today. This is what we have been dealing with since hiring aptive. The spiders, spider mites, and ants, and wasps are the absolute worst they have ever been in the 14 years of living here. It looks like we live in a haunted house. The webs are so bad on all of our vehicles, from trees, on the house, fence, everywhere! We were serviced 2 weeks ago, and when you call for a re service. Aptive charged me for a service i did not receive. I was unaware of Payment due and then sent the payment to collections and doubled the total amount they said was due. Then I received terrible customer service in response to calling them and trying to talk to them about this situation. read more

Where do I begin? The beginning was ok. The reservice in the beginning seemed okay. Once our contract was close to expiring things changed drastically. We scheduled a reservice in the app and the dates came and went. We did this 2 more times and no one ever came or contacted us. I finally called corporate and they scheduled us an appointment. The day of our appointment we get a text saying our service would be next day. After waiting nearly 2 weeks I was pissed! I call the office to speak to a supervisor and Conveniently they had all gone home for the day . I explain the situation and they magically have to guys show up within the hour. I have tried to schedule two re-services since then for other issues such as wasp and ants and they still never showed. And now their app is no longer working and I'm not able to reset my password to get into it and their website is temperamental. It has been almost 2 months and I am still waiting for a callback from a supervisor. I even emailed on the feedback form of my last service that I was waiting to hear back from a supervisor. They just don't care about you. I already got a quote from another company and it was much cheaper than Aptive. They came in our HOA where we have "no soliciting" signs and harassed me and my neighbors. His pitch when I opened the door "I'm not one of those annoying solar guys. Then told me he was spraying for pests. I told him I had another company come out less than two weeks ago and then he said "hmmm... that's interesting." And pointed out a cobweb on my front porch. So he basically accused me of lying and being a good housekeeper. Great sales tactic. Then he takes a picture of your house when he leaves. Horrible sales tactic! read more

I fulfilled the terms of my contract by having an initial treatment and 7 more completed in my first 2 years. After ending my contract with them, they are now trying to charge me a cancellation fee of $199. They say that this is because the terms are supposed to say 4 treatments per year when the contract (picture attached) only says 4 treatments total. After bringing this to their attention and showing them the contract terms that were signed, they are still refusing to remove the $199 cancellation fee. read more

UPDATE: They contacted me after a bad Google Review. Said that they guarantee their service and scheduled a free follow-up treatment. It *seems to have improved things. I won't give 5 stars because I didn't like the way they just chose a time and date to return without even asking me if that worked. And then they finally showed up at almost 6:30 p.m. the day *they* scheduled, and I told them to come back the following day, because I had kept my dog away all day so he wouldn't ingest anything. Then they rescheduled again for the following week--and again without consulting me about whether that day/ time worked for me. Not cool. They came about two weeks ago for the first time. Still plagued by Yellowjackets, one even stung my dog. Seeing spider webs outside when I didn't see any *before* they came. What a joke. After reading the other reviews about what a pain it is to get out of the contract I am concerned about telling them to get lost. read more

This company just debited my card -- without any authorization on their website -- for $209. Now here's the story: That summer I gave in to one of their presentations and they did three services -- the initial and two more. I lost my home of 30 years finally (a whole other story of a landlord and his mortgage activities) in January. I spoke to Aptive and told them I could not use their services as I lost my home. So the lady I spoke to said, well, it's an early termination fee unless you send us something so we survey your property and see if we can treat it or not. But this was on January 10th, so regardless of anything else they knew I was no longer at my old address. As an aside, the whole attitude of this lady was we don't trust our customers or care about them or their situations, we just want money. I've never experienced this with any company I've dealt with during this very painful time in my family's life. Anyway, fast forward to April 10, 2019 and I get a voicemail saying we're at your property and no one's here. I kid you not. They knew in January I was no longer there and in April they send someone to service the property, and then they call me to say I'm not there, we need instructions. April 11, 2019 I find a debit for $209.00. Actually, I started to feel insecure in the financial sense about this company when once I put in my debit card number I had no access to edit or remove it. With everything I was going through I didn't do anything else at the moment, but made sure I did not check the automatic authorization box, or initial it. I called my bank this morning at 4-15-19 and they are doing a fraudulent transaction and a provisional credit within 7 to 10 days. They asked if I wanted to cancel my debit card and get a new one. I really depend on this for everything, but having to think quickly my first thought was this company has this access and they will just bang the card again without authorization, and I can't remove my information from the website. So I won't have a debit card now for 7 to 10. I will also comment on the quality of their work, because I am not sure even if I had been able to keep my home, that I would not have canceled after the contract. The last service they did I was there, it was end of October. We had cameras on that house. The guy was there for about five minutes. Almost an acre of property, with a small but heavily wooded portion in the backyard. On the door he left a list of things he did. No way could he have done that in 15 or 20 minutes, much less 5. There was no difference in the amount of any bugs, certainly not ticks at all. And on Long Island we have bags of them. That stressful year we had not treated the yard ourselves with nematodes or DE and/or Cedarcide. These things work and they work extremely well. So, yes, we know the difference between what Aptive did and what we did. For all I know they could be spraying water. I don't know. I don't understand the positive reviews of this company, but even if their product was substandard and didn't work, unauthorized charges to a credit or debit card is another thing. We all pay bills online. Every company, be it a utility, phone and retail site there is unfettered access to your financial information, for you to edit or remove. It's interesting on Aptive's site that you can enter credit or debit information but once you do that you can't go back later to edit or remove that card. read more

Aptive is the only pest business of 3 I have tried that have a spray that actually stops my wasps from returning! They knock down the old nests and remove them. They are always very friendly, attentive, and listen to the points where I have concerns and took care of them. They take care of the spiderwebs around my house and in my garden and even spray the aphids on my roses! They are very good at checking in and out with me when arriving and leaving. They have also been very understanding of my little dogs protectiveness. Excellent service! read more

Once you sign up, plan on being a customer for life. They make it as difficult as possible to cancel. When you call to cancel their service, they will tell you they need to transfer your call to the cancellation department. They will then place you on hold with annoying music for 30 minutes with an option for a call back. They will never call you back if you request a call back. After holding for 30 minutes, it will go to voicemail where, again, they will never call you back. After many attempts and no return calls, we are still trying to cancel the services but can't talk to anyone who will do that. Our next step is to create a stop payment with the bank and take legal action if they attempt any collections. read more

Do you not think that maybe, possibly that's IRRESPONSIBLE AND UNSAFE? Now let's talk about how I was over charged. By more than double. NOW let's move on to trying to reach LITERALLY ANYONE. I have called multiple days trying to get things fixed and there hasn't been one day where I have held for less than 20 minutes. This is the only number given when you need to schedule an appointment, fix billing issues, or cancel your service. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE. I received a notice that while I canceled my service I was still on their schedule. So I have attempted contacting them twice with sitting on hold for over 30 minutes each time and each time being told they will call me back. Don't expect very much from Aptive service, managers, or the corporate office.  We did not receive our quarterly service that we were charged for.  We requested a call from management and never received a response other than them declining a reservice or a refund.  We contacted corporate and never received a response.  We co tacted the BBB and did receive a response.  They declined a refund and a re service with no explanation.  Very poor service. We decided to start using Aptive after working with another pest control company. We didn't realize how good we had it with the smaller company. The crappy thing is that I am not even saving that much money. Since starting with Aptive we have seen no improvement in the amount of bugs, especially spiders. In fact, it seems like our problems have increased exponentially. I am attaching some pictures of what we are seeing. All pictures posted here were taken within our last Aptive visit. One of the pictures of the orange cat spider was actually taken on the exact same day as our visit after receiving the nice little postcard of what the tech completed. On the Aptive postcard you can see that power spray and de-webbing were both services that were performed that same day. I am not sure how that spider and it's web were missed. Makes me really wonder what else I have been paying for these last four or five visits that really were not completed. Unfortunately, that isn't all. I tried to call Aptive's customer service line to voice my complaint, and although the rep was nice he was no help at all. I asked for a refund of my prior visit (that same day) and he said he could provide a $20 credit but if I wanted a full refund he would have to have the loyalty department call me. He did say it could take 2 or 3 days to hear from them because I was calling on a Friday afternoon. I waited a week with no call. I decided to call them back and ask for the loyalty department myself and to cancel all future visits. The rep again told me how busy that department was but if I wanted to wait 10 mins or so we could try to get someone on the line. So I waited. About 10 mins later the rep picked up the phone again and said that he would have someone call me in the "next few days". Sound familiar? I have still not heard back from anyone and that call took place about 1.5 weeks ago. Does Aptive really have a loyalty department? I am really surprised that a company with such a well known name and fairly decent reviews would drop the ball as much as they have in this circumstance. I have given plenty of chances for Aptive to make things right before I decided to post this review. Let's hope that after they see the review someone decides to take action. Also, I did notice the note from Alan Bowles in another review and tried to call him at the number he posted but it just routes you through the call center and back to the beginning. A door to door salesperson from out of state came to our home. She was extremely nice. We specified not to kill honey bees, good bugs in our flower beds such as lady bugs, praying mantis; to spray our grass and trees; and to get rid of voles (like a baby ground hog)! Well, what the "contract" specified in the fine print and what we wanted did not match. So everything in the flower beds that crawls is dead, no spraying of lawn and trees. So we called to cancel, as they would not perform what we wanted done. So the "contract" specifies a cancelation requires payment of all services, over $200. We have been ripped off. read more

I've tried to call customer service multiple times and always get a message saying "we are experiencing unusually high call volumes..." No matter what time I call or how long I hold, I always get the same message. I don't think they even have anyone staffing the phone. Today, a Saturday, we got an email minutes before they showed up and we were already gone for the day. We couldn't let them in the house or anything. We tried to reschedule the appointment, but of course, no one was able to answer their customer service phone "due to unusually high call volumes." The sales rep was very professional and explained all the packages to me thoroughly and answered all of my questions. He told me that someone would come to walk my yard with me so I could point out problem areas and areas that he needed to say away from like my garden. I mentioned that I had some trees that I needed looked at to see if something was eating them. He told me the tech would definitely be able to help me out with that when he came. So we scheduled the appointment and I agreed to their services. When the tech came for my appointment he was confused when I asked if he was going to walk around with me. I said I had some questions about my trees. He said "I don't know much about this stuff but I can look and give you my opinion." DO NOT USE THIS SCAM COMPANY! They tried to come spray our home during the hours we asked them not to and during a rainstorm, when we called them out they said they were going to respray. They didn't so we called to cancel and they said they wouldn't charge for that spray. Then they kept calling to get us to keep paying. Aweful Service - Technician only completed half the job on my last visit then left a note on the door that the gate was locked - My entire family is home all day everyday - no one knocked at the door to quest the gate be opened. I tried to contact the company to arrange for a re service but after an hour on the phone waiting to speak with someone I lost patience. Then called back to request cancellation of the service - once I did finally get a live person on the phone, I was told they had to fill out a form and transfer me to another department. I waited and additional 45 minutes on hold music but no one ever came back to the phone - Apparently they have no need for customer's and must already have plenty but I can assure you-I will not be one of them!! read more

They asked me what was needed, since this was an extra visit because of an ant invasion, then explained what they would be doing and what to expect. The job was done quickly and efficiently. Never sign a contract with these folks. The sales rep told us that we could cancel at any time but would have to pay the difference between the first visit 'offer' and the regular price of $89 per quarter. After 2 applications we cancelled. I should have known better than trust the sales rep and spent 30 minutes reading the fine print. I guess that is the normal business / sales structure of companies like this. I certainly wouldn't pay $89 for a 15 quickie spray only to have to call them back to complain about pests. I want them to be proactive, not retroactive. Do your job right the first time and then you won't have to be called back! read more
