Horrible customer service. . Don't stand behind their product. Used them for a 1x hornets nest removal and the nest was being rebuilt the next day and since I only paid for the 1x service fee they wanted me to pay again. I paid the first time to REMOVE the hornets and Aptive didn't get rid of them so WHY?? would I pay again. They said I didn't pay for the 1 yr service contract so they wouldn't come back out. Amazing. Bait and switch company. Will never use again. read more

I agreed to a one time treatment of a hornet nest. they refused to go in my attic and actually remove it but told me the spray would kill all of them. The tech promised that if the treatment didn't work that they would come back out to try again at no charge. That was a lie. The treatment did not work and when I called they told me I would need to pay for another treatment for them to come back and finish the job. read more

Very aggressive door 2 door salesperson. When told him no, he continued to tell me why I need their service. After I shut the door, he laughed at me. I opened it back up and told him to get off my property. He kept on with his sales pitch until he knew be better leave. This is the 3rd time this month they have been knocking on my door. Do not fall for this scam or answer the door. read more

It is an expensive service and has done nothing to alleviate my wasp issue. The first service guy refused to go into my attic and spray and remove a wasp nest. I also have one in my retaining wall which they have sprayed and it did nothing . read more

This company sucks. Flat out sucks. An overly aggressive and rather duplicitous "salesman", on a Hoverboard, rolled up to my elderly mother's place. He fast talked her, told her to "just say yes" into his cell phone, and bang - she's signed up. He gave her no contract. There is no invoice for the service. Apparently she also "agreed" to a $199.95 "exit fee" for quitting the company's services. Plus their "services" don't do anything. If anything, there were more insects close to the house than there were before she engaged them. Avoid - avoid at all costs. read more

Everything everyone else said and then some. I cancelled the service because of a potential move; they charged me anyway. I argued with the credit card company and they sent me a copy of the contract. I am moving. I do not want to pay for a service on this property and they charged me anyway. I wish I had read these reviews before. Aggressive quick sales. Not time to think. I realized I was a bit dumb, but I do believe they took advantage of my age and widowed status. Why do scammers think widows have money? I am barely making it from week to week. Anymore charges and they will hear from my lawyer. read more

This company is a complete scam. They tricked my elderly father into signing up. At the time, I decided to let it go for a while because he did seem to have a lot of ants and yellow jackets around. After a few treatments, it was clear that their process was completely ineffective and called to cancel. That turned into quite the runaround because even after cancelling, they just kept coming and sending bills. I finally had to resort installing a motion-activated security camera so I could get notified when they arrived and go chase them off. Their sales people are really scummy too. They come to my door over and over throughout the spring and summer. They just keep talking when you tell them no, and if you shut the door most of them will start ringing the bell repeatedly. A couple have actually been pretty belligerent and insulting. One even walked into my house! I was working in my basement and he came in through the garage and into the basement to harass me. I had to threaten to call the police to get him to leave. read more

I had been mostly satisfied with the service until yesterday, the tech (supposedly) sprayed outside as usual. however, I had seen a mouse inside and asked what they could do. He placed a "bait box" in my back yard. left the "key" about 8 inches away on the ground and with NO EXPLANATION HOW TO USE OR MAINTAIN THIS CONTRAPTION! Like, how am I supposed to know what to do with this thing? and to add insult, he just left without even telling me what he had done. like bye ...!!! and they give you so little warning that they're coming. less than 24 hours and its impossible to try to contact them to change their appointment. Im contemplating stopping my contract after yesterday's dismal experience. I may not care about that money read more

Check your bill right after the treatment. They promised a free treatment and still ended up charging 170 USD. If I didn't check there goes your 170. Had to make two different calls and waste almost 40mins to revert the charge. Very unethical company I'm read more

got ants? save your money, get a pack of $4 ant traps from walmart instead of hiring Aptive. salesman talked my husband into an agreement for several treatments and claimed we could cancel anytime. tried to cancel after they had visited our home multiple times and our ant problem was continuing to get worse. apparently there is a $199 cancellation fee. huge waste of money. they do offer free additional services between scheduled visits which would be awesome if their products actually worked. read more

Typically I'm not home when they show up, however today I was coming back home when I got a text that the technician just arrived. I was home in 5 minutes, there was no technician. Complete BS, didn't do anything except send me old photos of past treatments. Do not use. read more

STAY AWAY this company is deceptive and difficult to work with. Intentionally didn't get an email after signing up with them so I couldn't cancel within the 3 days. I didn't even have an account number to look up online. Once I made contact a week later to cancel of course they charged me the $199 fee that I was never told about. They won't refund me even though it was their fault I never reviewed any documentation. read more

I saw flying ants a couple years ago, and that could mean the wood structure of my house is at risk. I have had Aptive now for a couple years and I have been pleased that no flying insects have been spotted since then. Garbage company with shady business practices. There product is laughable (spraying tea tree oil on the outside of your house) They tell you that you can't cancel the service before the first treatment because once you go past the 72 hour window they hit your with a $200 early termination fee. Essentially using the company is like throwing money away. Locked in to a contract that provides nothing! read more

We cancelled our service with them after a year. It was not worth it, as we didn't see a decrease in pests.

Christian E. came and did our service today. He was attentive to detail and was happy to treat all of the areas we requested. He was friendly and seemed genuinely eager to provide excellent service, taking the time to review the areas we wanted to have treated, and looking for the issues we delineated. Haven't had any problems with pests since we signed up a couple of years ago, but have definitely noticed the price increase - that would be my only issue. Treated both indoors and outside, as requested. Thanks, Christian! read more

Fonzie came and did our service today. He called when he was on his way so I could put the dog outside. He sprayed inside and explained why he was spraying where he was. He was very polite and nice. He went outside to complete the service and let me know when he was finished so I could let the dog out. The bug population has definitely declined since Aptive has been treating our house and yard. read more

Very pushy sales guy who came to my front door on a moped would not take no for an answer. I told him I was already receiving services from another company at the moment and wasn't sure how long I was going to continue using them. I did give him my info (dumb mistake) but he promised I was not signing up but was putting me into the system to keep the price of the deal he was offering in case I decided to move forward with them in the future. Next day I got a text saying I had an appointment for their services between x & x time. I replied cancel. Then I get a call from the person who was supposed to be coming to my house letting me know he was on his way. I told him I did not sign up and make an appointment and not to come. He seemed really confused. Two days later, same thing happened. Had to call main corporate number and complain to get out of their system. Nice try moped guy. Now I definitely won't ever consider using aptive. (South Park, PA) read more

Do NOT do business with this company. I had used them for close to two years, when apparently, the credit card I had on file expired, and they were unable to process my payment. They called and texted me repeatedly multiple times a day, each day, for close to a week, beginning at 8 am to 9 pm, for an invoice that wasn't even delinquent, and less than 30 days past due. I cannot, and will not do business with a company that has no respect for my time, or ability to pay, after two years of prompt payments. Do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere for pest control services. read more

Aptive in Pittsburgh, Pa. Please avoid these people as it's a door to door scam. The salesman convinced me to sign up at a $69 application price and three more applications in the year. When the service tech sprays the property he said there is a total of five applications at $116 each. After the first application I still have bees and their policy of returning is to charge another application fee of $116... no free return service. I tried to get out of this contract but the local office in Pittsburgh wants $160 fee to get out of the contract. And yes I still have ground bees!!! read more

Terrible service. They discount the first visit to get you to sign, and when their services don't work, they try to charge you a $250 cancellation fee because you don't stay with them the entire year. I have not noticed a decrease in insects and have called to complain for their "free resprays if unsatisfied" and they don't seem to care. They spend about 5 minutes at the house and charge $140/visit. A new guy comes every time and says "the last guy didn't know what he was doing and is no longer with the company and I will be doing the treatment correctly". Stay away from this company. read more

I started using this service because wasps are a problem around my house. I pay about $150 every quarter and I still have wasps on my deck. I have called to complain, they don't really care. Aptive in Pittsburgh, PA. Sales representative misrepresented the service indicating it would cover my entire back yard, that the treatment was organic, and I would be charged for 3 treatments for the annual plan. After initially quoting $229 the sales rep dropped the price to $95 per treatment then said the first application would be free and there would be 3 treatments at $95 each with no additional sales tax. The contract showed I would be charged for 4 treatments even if I cancelled after the first treatment - an additional payment than the sales rep indicated and there was sales tax on the service. The 2 guys who came to do the treatment said they only treat 30 feet from the house or end of the deck which would not cover my back yard. The area manager subsequently confirmed the limited 30 feet coverage and said that the products are derived from organic material but are not organic. While the sales rep and area manager said their products are safe for humans and pets, the information about one ingredient says if it comes in contact with your skin to flush with water for 15-20 minutes and call poison control center. The sales representative gave me his phone number to call if I had any problems but when I called his phone number the same day he gave it to me it was not a working number. I called the area office on Monday and when no one answered left a message indicating the service was misrepresented and I would cancel if I didn't hear from them. They didn't return my call until the next day. Given the pressure used to sign then have the treatment applied the same day the sales rep came to my door (a Saturday), that no one is available at the Pittsburgh office on the weekend, and they didn't answer the phone when I called during the hours for their office (monday-friday 9 am-5 pm), this seems to be a door to door scam to get you to sign an agreement that forces you to pay the full amount if you receive the first treatment which they do on the same weekend day they appear at your door. The township said they had received other complaints about this company. Avoid this company, read the terms carefully and do your own research - don't believe what their sales rep says as being factual or truthful. Fortunately I stopped the service and was able to cancel the agreement within 3 business days. read more

Terrible service. They promised to treat our entire property for moles, mice, wasps, hornets, spiders, aphids, etc.. but did not. We gave them multiple opportunities to re-treat but the problems persisted. They left black plastic boxes around our yard and the mole problem continued to get worse. After multiple phone calls and messages along with a certified letter stating the problems over months we still have not been contacted. Great sales door to door with a Segway!! No service. We continue to get a bill and calls about paying the bill but still no follow up about our concerns. Do not believe these people!! Do not use this company. read more

So far, so good. We signed up on Memorial Day and have received treatments as promised. Yesterday, I noticed quite a few ants in the backyard and a few in the house, so I called around 12:30pm and by 2:30 Jamar arrived. He listened carefully to where I had seen ants and proceeded to treat several areas inside and outside with a spray treatment, as well as gel and two different kinds of traps. Jamar was efficient, respectful, and did a through and professional job. Haven't seen an ant since, but I know that if I do, Aptive will come back and keep treating until they are gone. read more

Horrible Customer service. Signed up for service in June 2016. We had no improvement in the bugs situation around the house or in the house after their first treatment or subsequent one. Called them for re-treatment and the person would come and spray some chemical and be done in less than 5 minutes and we had a big house (6000 sq feet). The prior pest control company would take much greater care and spend ~ 1hr to do the treatment including granules and packets that they would leave under the cabinets and hidden spaces. This company does not do any of that and dont even try to go in the hidden spaces or under the cabinets etc. The house was full of spiders and cockroaches right after their treatments and re-treatments. They said that the house is in wooded area and that we have tree cockroaches and that they cant do much about them. I told them in April 2017 to credit my account for ~$90 for the prior service that did not work at all. The lady on the phone agreed to do it after much discussion. However, instead of giving the refund, they charged me ~$90 on my credit card. When I brought it to their attention in June 2017, they said (Mr Chris) it was a mistake that they made when processing the credit card and that they will again issue me a refund for that amount. It still did not happen till September 2017 when I called them again. I told them to cancel the service again-- since I had relocated to Phoenix area due to work since Feb 2017, but Mr Clay (Branch Manager) said that I had to continue the service for a full year, whether I lived in the house or not. He said I will have to pay ~$260 for not continuing the contract even though I did not live in the house and even when their prior services were ineffective. I had not gotten any bills to my new address in AZ, and all of a sudden I got a call from a collections agency that I owe them around ~260. Mr Clay insisted that the contract had to be completed, whether it was effective or not and irrespective of the fact that I no longer lived in that house after Feb 2017. That is also the reason that they sent the account to a collections agency. Mr Clay was rude on the phone and said this is how they are set up and do their business. If I am not refunded the money that they promised to refund and have the $260 fee taken away I am left with no choice, but to explore legal options. Stay away from this company! read more

So far, I've had an awful experience. The tech came out and ever since, we've had ant problems that we've never had before. I've left 2 voicemails and spoken to 2 people. I have not received a return call or any service to rectify the ant problem. Very disappointing. read more

I signed up for their service 1 year ago. The first visit affected the dogs (1 wiemeriner, 2 goldens, and 1 collie) so bad that my neighbors canceled before they could spray. When I went to cancel they said they had an alternative product. Due to the "special" it would have costed more to cancel then continue treatments. 4 season and 7 follow up, I have a mole (first time), bees, spiders, and ants. They will tell you all types of science related information such as spiders have long legs and some ants travel differently. But in the end their product line is a scam. read more

We decided to go with Aptive for a mouse problem in our house. The salesman said they could do almost all the same work as Terminex. As a Pgh Realtor who has a lot of experience with pest control companies, this is the worst! I called after seeing ants after my service 2 wks ago. The rep then reads this obvious script telling me I probably have ants because I need to keep my counters free of food crumbs and water...really?! He then said he needed to call me back...never heard back. Called again today, still no call back. Needless to say I will be cancelling my service with Aptive. read more

The service tech. Terrill Miller was a very helping person and always had a smile on his face when he did the job. He addressed all the issues we have and made sure he did his best to eliminate them. I'll never use this service again. I signed up in July 2017. One month later, I got yellowjackets under my patio. They came out to resolve the problem, but I still had yellowjackets. I called them to come here again and I was told they would treat again, but there was nothing they could do because the nest was under the concrete. About a week later, still yellowjackets. I went to Lowes and bought a treatment and that solved the problem. Everything they've "treated for" I've had an issue with. Treat for ants, I still get ants. Centipedes? Still get them. Moles? Yep. Mice? Absolutely. My house is only 10 years old. I have woods beyond my back yard so I get many pests. I hoped that Aptive would mitigate many if these problems without my efforts. Not only did they not mitigate the problems, not made them worse than ever. I will go back to doing myself where I had way better results for lest money too. read more

SCAM! This company is a scam. They go door to door selling a foundation treatment for your home. They will tell you it is $50. They will do one treatment in a few minutes and leave. Then you will be billed quarterly approx $120 for a service they won't provide. After months of trying to cancel a service that was never actually completed, I was told they have a contract and there is nothing I can do but pay. They never showed up to do the second treatment. The address on my bill is even incorrect but they will swear that the service was completed. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY, CREDIT CARDS OR SIGN ANY CONTRACT! They will scam you and you will be forced to deal with courts. Spiders aren't as bad as these thieves! read more

Totally swindled. Feels like Comcast might run this business on the side, not to mention their employees are all around 20 years old. I truly should have taken more consideration into the fact that they solicited me at my door for their initial sales pitch. Discounted my first service to $1 and then hit me with a rebound fee of $250 before sending me to collections after I tried cancelling my services--if you could even call them that. I even had to call a different pest company to come in and fix the pests that I had after my initial "flushing" with this company. Very unsatisfied. Would not recommend. read more

I signed up for an annual contract with quarterly service. Aptiv has since been padding their contract by coming out every other month. When I contacted them to cancel I was told I had to pay a cancellation fee even though I have been charged in excess of what I agreed to. In 4 months they have been out 3 times. Also, I am not satisfied with the results - I continue to have problems with spiders and other creepy crawlies. There are definitely better options out there for pest control services. read more
