DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!
I had brought several vehicles here for repair, and always left with doubts and a HUGE chunk out of my wallet.
On our first visit here, I made the mistake of letting this character know that we lived in NYC and had a summer home up here. He immediately decided to cash in on us. He would always find several additional things to "fix", totally unrelated to what we brought it in for, and never once phoned to ask if we wanted the extra repairs done. He'd just say he did them, then hand us his inflated bill.
Once, I called Aprea in a panic because my car had just sputtered out and died. He towed it in, and charged me $565 for some vague-sounding "repairs". When the car did the exact same thing a few weeks later, my passenger informed me that I'm simply out of gas - and probably was the time before, too!
During another questionable "repair", my neighbor reported seeing my car in town one night - even though she knew it was supposed to be in this guy's shop. When I got the car back, I noticed the backseat was strewn with French fries and other debris. When I questioned Aprea, he said my neighbor was wrong, and that the garbage was mine. Bull! I later learned from some locals that this guy's teenage son often "borrowed" cars from the shop to go joyriding with friends (say, uh...I thought my car was supposed to be disabled?) I began to suspect that something was very wrong here.
It wasn't until my final visit to Aprea Automotive that I knew I was being fleeced: I brought an old car to him and specifically told him (based on his previous antics) that, if the repairs will be more than $300, DON'T fix it, and call me instead. Oh, he called, alright - but only to inform me that the car was ready and that I owed him $580! I balked, asking WHY he didn't call BEFORE any work was done, but he just demanded the money! I had to get the State Police and the BBB involved before he'd give me my car back. That was it!
