The gaskets (interior rubber trim) in a Sub Zero freezer in the house I property manage were old…read moreand mouldy and it was time to replace them so I went online to the Sub Zero site and they suggested 2 companies on Maui for repairs. The first one I called was Maui Repair Service and Tim was extremely helpful, looking up the correct part, quoting a competitive price for labour and taking a cc payment for the parts. He kept in touch with me regarding their arrival and a date to install, calling me a couple of times and fitting in with my schedule which I really appreciated. His customer service was excellent. The install was quick and he cleaned the area too. Tim is a friendly professional who I definitely recommend for all your appliance repairs. I will be using his services again if needed.

I had used KNL (on Maui) in the past, so I called them again when I had a small leak from a pipe in…read moremy kitchen. Long story, short. They gave me a bid of $1,220.00 with a time estimate of 4 to 6 hours. It was supposed to be a really involved job (very hard to reach). They spent just 2 hours with no ripping out of anything, and they only replaced one cast iron "T" and another 8 inches of some white 3" piping (which I would assume they had on their truck). On the bid, they had a list of about 8 items to do, which is why it was supposed to take 4 to 6 hours. They completed less than half the items on the bid. I was charged the entire amount, which would have meant I was being charged almost $600 an hour. I said it was outrageous for them to charge me so much. They said it involved, picking up supplies (all would have been on their truck, as they were standard parts), mileage, (they are only 10 minutes) from my condo. With the slow down on Maui, they must need to charge double or triple what would be normal. I will never use them again and would not refer them to anyone unless you want to be ripped off.

The price we talked about on the phone was what they charged no surprises.

I don't know how anyone can live without a dishwasher!?…read more I was introduced to Aloha Appliance Installations when we purchased a replacement dishwasher from Lowes. The sales associate recommended that a plumber do the installation, with which I was in total agreement. She stapled their business card to our receipt and told us to expect a call from "Rocky". Fast forward a very long month and the stove we ordered at the same time was delivered and installed, but our beloved dishwasher was no where to be found. I left a voicemail for Rocky, the owner of AAI. He quickly returned my call and told me he'd go to Lowes the next day to look for our dishwasher. The next day came and he called back with good news. We then set up an appointment for installation. I was expecting Rocky but one of his workers showed up. Total time from start to finish was under an hour! AAI picked up the new appliance, delivered and installed it and hauled away the old one (key info that Lowes didn't explain to us), for a little over $200. TIP: They also install refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, hoods and built-in appliances. OVERALL: Great communication, professional work and service. Highly recommended even if the worker didn't remove his shoes before entering the house.

Weirdest thing ever. Last week I called MB Appliance to have someone fix my refrigerator. This is a…read morerecurring issue, and I'd had it fixed last year by someone I couldn't reach this time. These guys got someone out immediately, so I was very grateful. Mario was here within 30 minutes, and when he got here, he stood looking at the fridge (not even opening it) for several minutes before saying anything at all. Then he mentioned that he'd been out several times in the past for this same fridge (previous owner of the house) and had never figured out what was wrong. He took a couple of panels off, checked a few things, and said that he didn't know what to do, no charge for that day because he hadn't fixed anything, but call again Monday if the fridge didn't start cooling. Fifteen minutes after walking through our door he was gone. A few minutes after he left, another repair person returned my call from earlier, and came out an hour later. He took things apart, showed my husband what had happened so that when the issue arises again my husband can fix it, and charged a reasonable rate. Just now, the office of MB Appliance called me to ask where I wanted my invoice sent. I was confused, and asked what invoice. The woman said "For fixing the refrigerator." I explained what had happened, she said "Tell that to Mario," I said "Mario's the one who said there was no charge because he didn't do anything." Silence for a moment, then she said "Don't ever call us again!" and then hung up. Done.

This way I could confirm the company could repair my oven. . 11/19/14- Julie emailed me back to let me know they were off island until 12/2/14. She asked if that would be an okay day for repair. I accepted. 11/19/14-12/2/14 no one ever called me to confirm any details on my repair request. 12/2/14- after being without an oven for several weeks and waiting (overall) two weeks for this repair appointment I was incredibly disappointed when the repair man walked into my kitchen, looked at me like I was insane and said he can't fix it. When I asked why, he said he doesn't work on gas ovens! Isn't this something that should be established before making me wait two weeks for the appointment. Gas ovens aren't uncommon. I reread the company profile on yelp, and I didn't miss any description about this. . . Might want to update their info so they don't waste their time or mine..
