This guy Billy charged me a service fee for diagnosing a washing machine. He stated that it'd cost much more than it actually did and took off with my money. I called a shop to have it repaired and they warned me about people doing this. Stating that the repair is too much and to just have the unit replaced. In reality the repair cost less than a replacement. Seems like he just wanted the fee for diagnosis and was too lazy to actually do the work. Seems shady. Shame. Shame. Shame. read more

I'm writing this review literally about 20mins after Billy leaving my house to repair a Samsung front load washer. We had issues since Saturday night. I called Samsung to troubleshoot because the door wasn't unlocking. I fixed that issue. The next issue was the water wasn't draining so I got the "nD" showing up. Samsung referred me to their contracted techs but they didn't answer nor did they call me back. I looked at their yelp reviews and said "ew NVM I don't want them". Luckily, I yelped around and did my research. I came across Appliance Attack and decided to call them today at 10am! Janelle answered the phone and everything went smoothly. I called Billy because my housemate's washing machine wasn't draining properly. Even though he services Silver Lake and surrounding areas, he made time to drive all the way out to Temple City the SAME afternoon to fix the washer. I wasn't present to receive him so I followed up with him afterwards, and he took meticulous time out to update me on our repaired washer and inform me in earnest on the details of it over text message, making himself an available contact/resource even after service was done. i called today to ask if they repair range hoods since all the other appliance repairman I've spoken to said they don't. The guy I spoke to said he didn't either. I asked him if he could refer someone since I couldn't find a repairman. He was kind enough to take a few minutes to explain to me that range hoods (with the exception of high end models like a Thermador) fall outside the repertoire of all appliance repairman because it's difficult to find a replacement part for generic range hoods and most people end up replacing the entire hood with a contractor. It was nice to experience the kindness of another good human being. Next time we need an appliance repairman, I will definitely call Appliance Attack. read more

It's true! So, my dryer gave out for a second time and for sure I thought it was a goner! I called Appliance Attack on a Friday explained that I think it's the belt cause the drum isn't turning. I was asked to send photos and schedule something for Saturday. I did just that. They were prompt the following day and did excellent work. My dryer started making a crazy loud screeching sound. I was hoping it could just be fixed and not have to replace it. Called Billy and he came to the rescue! From the time Billy walked in the door to assessing the problem and fixed the dryer, it was just under 20 mins! I watched him dismantle the dryer within 5 mins as he figured out I needed a new pulley. He the parts in his truck, replaced the pulley and reassembled the dryer in 20 mins! He was very knowledgeable, knows what he's doing and knows that time is money. Highly recommend Billy as the man who can get the job done and get it done fast! They are quick and easy to work with and the price is perhaps not CHEAP but definitely reasonable, and they do things properly so that makes it well worth it. I just wanted to share my experience w/ Billy. I had a problem with my washing machine, and contacted a couple of places. Rather than just name his housecall fee, he asked for a picture of the broken part, and the serial # of the unit. With my plea of financial hardship, he was able to tell me what the problem was and how much it would cost to repair, and gave me options as to whether it would be better to repair or replace it. He even explained what would be needed to try and salvage the broken part. The store he recommended also had good things to say about him when I called them. I say this is exactly what you want in a service technician. Miraculously, I was able to (probably temporarily) fix the part myself, but when it falls apart again, I know where to go. read more

Billy pretty much dropped everything he was doing (or at least it felt like it to me) to accommodate my crazy schedule to come out and diagnose my fridge when it suddenly stopped cooling. I wish the news had been better but he was honest about what he thought it could be (corroded Freon line) and didn't try to up-sell me on expensive, doomed, short-term fixes that would pull money away from what I need to do--which is replace my 12 year old fridge. The guy is sweet but charges $100 just for showing up. Ultimately he suggested that I get a new washer instead of him replacing the seal which is leaking and which he claimed would be so expensive it wasn't worth replacing. I finally had a SEARS tech come out and he is replacing the seal. Again, a nice fellow but either didn't have a lot of experience or just didn't want to deal with replacing the seal. $100 is a lot for the advice he gave. read more

I called Billy about the heat sensor in my Maytag dryer prematurely extinguishing its flame jet. The last guy I called about this problem replaced the $18 sensor and charged me $180 for the part and $40 more for the privilege (see my last review for the deets on that). I mentioned this to Billy, and he said (over the phone!) that the problem could actually be as simple as a clogged vent or air hose. Sure enough, I checked the hose and vent and found them massively clogged with lint. I cleaned it all out and the dryer now works like magic. I've never met a repairman who's so honest he tells you over the phone the ways your appliance may not need to be fixed. Now that I've found him, Appliance Attack has a loyal customer. Funny thing is, mine isn't the first review to hail Billy for giving self-help advice that saved the expense for an appliance call (at Billy's expense). I hope that guy too sent Billy a healthy tip for his expert advice because honest repairmen should be rewarded for their honesty. Keep it up, Billy! read more

my washing machine made the scariest fucking noise the other day - i legit locked myself in my room and debated calling the police. it was like requiem for a dream fridge status. i managed to finally turn the machine off then called this place to see if they could come fix it. i tried to schedule an appointment for them to come out and the guy was really flexible with the times but asked me to run an empty load first and see if the problem persisted. i did that and it worked fine, meaning my clothes had just been on one side of the washer creating a weight distribution issue. i was supposed to call him back to let him know how it went and if i still needed him to come out but i forgot. he texted me the next day for an update and i said it was fixed. really impressed with the customer service - he didn't want to waste my time (or his time) and he helped me out despite me not paying him. i'll definitely use in the future! read more

Last night my LG clothes dryer stopped blowing hot air. I know nothing about appliances and thought, "Oh my goodness, this is going to be expensive and I may have to wait several days to get an appointment for a repair." I called Appliance Attack early this morning (around 7 AM) and received a call back within 20 minutes. As luck would have it, they had a technician in my neighborhood, who was able to come to my home within minutes. The technician was respectful and efficient and was able to repair my dryer by replacing my broken thermostat with a new one that he had in his work vehicle. He had finished the job by about 8:45 AM. This was the easiest home service repair call I've ever had. Their prices were very reasonable, I've used other companies in the past and have been charged extra "emergency service" fees, but not with Appliance Attack.
