I went there to get my prom dress altered . First they broke my zipper and gave it back to me and didn't want to fix it. Then i go back and they charge me an additional fee to fix what THEY MESSED UP. The third time I take it back they are completely rude and unprofessional and didn't want to work with me to fix my dress AGAIN. And wanted to charge me $60 to FIX what they messed up AGAIN. My husband usually handles drop-off and pick-up here, but on the two occasions I've gone myself, I've been met with a very unfriendly reception. The business owner comes across as rigid and lacking a customer-first mindset--it feels more like the customer is "against" the business rather than valued. Today, I forgot my wallet and phone, and since she requires pre-payment, I asked if I could call with payment once I got home. She said no. I then asked if I could leave the item and return later to pay, and she agreed. When I requested a receipt to confirm the item was left, she abruptly removed the pins, tossed the item back to me, and said, "I'm cancelling this transaction. Come back when you can pay." That interaction sealed it for me--I will not be returning. I plan to try A+ Clothing Alterations down the street, which has a strong 4-star rating. read more

I was hopeful to find a new tailor as I recently moved to the neighborhood. Unfortunately they charged me $69 to only cut the hem of my dress. There was no sewing involved (see picture). This is way too expensive. I will only go back if I am desperate. Bummer. read more

I took my suit in here to get altered once. They were pretty quick about it. They also negotiate prices well too, so don't feel bad about scoffing at their first quote. The work was definitely top notch though. My suit jacket and pants came back exactly as I needed them and it only took them 3 days to turn them back. The staff is always extremely nice and they typically greet me by name. I am petite and I'm always asking for off the wall alterations and although sometimes it isn't the norm they are great about accommodating me. They are also great about standing behind their work. I appreciate the way they care about the individual coming into their shop. The place is right next to a dry cleaners, so it seemed convenient to get some alteration carried out on a pair of jeans and another 2 items. The place is run by two Asian women who speak some broken English. The younger bespectacled woman was present on the day I visited. She was incredibly rude and insisted she knew me from another visit until she finally admitted she was wrong. She was rather abrupt and acted like she was angry with the world in general. Maybe she was having a bad day. Her rates were exorbitant and I gave her only 2 out of 3 items to alter. She wanted $40 to alter a $30 item. Her whole attitude was arrogant and unfriendly. $68 dollars for 2 alterations of length. Got items back in 1 week. Avoid this place at all costs. Should have walked out as soon as I saw her attitude. There was a place at Denver West Mills that was good, but the Mills has closed down for 6 months due to hail damage! read more

Brought an off the rack suit here for tailoring. The original (nationally recognized) shop where I bought the suit had done some work with it but it was not complete. My fiancée wanted me to look sharp. After a brief consultation and measurement session, Applewood pinned the suit and shirt. We were told to return in a week. We returned the following Saturday. I tried on the suit and my fiancée was wowed. Her jaw dropped at how good I looked. I would highly recommend Applewood. The shop is cash or check only. The quality is amazing. I have used Applewood Tailors for many years now and even though I have moved to another state I bring my clothes that need alterations with me when I visit Colorado because they do exceptional work at unbeatable prices. They are efficient, very particular about their work, and will alter your clothes in exactly the manner you desire. I have brought everything from dresses to dress pants to jeans and have never been disappointed with the service and results of the alterations. I recently took in 2 pairs of jeans to be altered on a Wednesday afternoon and they were able to get them ready before noon on Friday of that same week. I've used them for at least a dozen items over the past 4 years. At first I was extremely pleased, both by the quality of their work and the pricing. Unfortunately, they've gone downhill over time. The last time I went their they did a horrible job with the fit and charged me a ridiculous amount (partially my fault for placing my trust in them and not asking about the price when I dropped the items off). Yep, I'm the guy that pays too much for a pair of jeans but they are wonderful and when they begin to wear out I have them fixed. In the long run it doesn't cost as much that way. It was time again to get holes patched up so I dropped them off with the ladies at this shop. They re-patched a couple of holes on a pair of jeans, fixed one hem, And reattached one belt loop. I stopped back in to pick the jeans up and they told me it would be $70! I absolutely couldn't believe it and before I lost my mind with her, I decided to haggle. If you're not going to run a business like an American, I will haggle you down. I would skip this place if I were you. I will say they did a decent job but I didn't know I was having to pay off her student loans for Taylor University. read more

I have had alternations done by this biz since it opened many years ago. I am completely satisfied with the quality of their work. I write a check for the alternations and find their prices comparable to other similar services. They have a one week turnaround time and the garment is always ready when I arrive to pick it up. I have never been quoted one price and charged a higher one. read more

I'm seeing a pattern here as I read the reviews. I wish I'd read them before we took our items to AT. I had a simple single-layer hem on a small sundress and 3 sport coats that needed the sleeves shortened...no buttons. When we dropped everything off we asked the price and the young woman working at the front motioned towards her manager in the back seemingly in a meeting and said she didn't know but it wouldn't be too much (clearly, this should have been my first clue!). Their prices are conveniently NOT posted anywhere. We returned a week later to pick up the order...and was given a bill for almost $200. I was literally STUNNED. We've had these type of alterations done before elsewhere in the WR/Arvada area. They should have been maybe $100. I told her how disgusted I was and felt they were very underhanded about the pricing. She said they always tell their customers the price. Ummm....look at my claim check...there was NO PRICE quoted! She finally only charged $150, but I think that was still outrageous. Complete lack of integrity. As a fellow Christian I wanted to ask her to take the cross off her wall....giving Jesus a bad name by the way she does business! Needless to say, we will never be going back. read more

Recently I visited here to adjust my suit for a wedding reception. They were very quick and relatively cheap comparing to other alteration shops. They normally suggested one week for any alternation but due to my urgency, they finished mine in a couple of days. I heard that they did not take any credit card but recently they installed a machine. I paid it with my credit card. Workers seems to be very experienced in alternation for a long time. Worst experience ever. I called ahead to make an appointment to have my wedding dress altered. She assured me over the phone that I did not need an appointment, and that I should just to come in. So I come in, try my dress on, and she gives me one look and says- no I can not alter this. I asked her why, and she told me to go to the store that I bought the dress, and take it there. I asked her again, why she could not take the dress in, and she waved me away and again, says- no, no, no- I will not do this. It only needs simple alterations. I took in pants to have four pairs hemmed and suspender buttons attached to five pairs. One pair needed a seem repaired. I picked them up and thought the price was very high but I thought if they did a good job then I could live with it. When I got home I found that three pair were not hemmed. I took them back and said they weren't hemmed right. I was told they didn't hem them wrong because they didn't do any hemming on them. Since I was a long way from home I asked them to be hemmed. I received the pants the next week and measured the inseam when I got home and the hems were a half inch to long on one side and an inch to long on the other. I used a cloth tape to take the measurements. I hate tripping over my pants and not getting the service I paid for, I will have to find a decent tailor next time I need some work done. read more

These other reviews must have been a different owner or the owners have changed there business model. Went in to get a zipper fixed. Waited a long time finally handed over a sweatshirt jacket with a broken zipper. Had priced zipper repairs out and everyone had come in around $15-$18. Went back to get the jacket. She charged me $30. I was floored and pissed. Only took cash so I had to come back the next day. Sweatshirt only worth $30. I told her I called around, which I had, and no one charged that much. She said that was her price. Paid it but told her that if anything went wrong she better warranty it. I swear to god the next day my son came back and the zipper metal part was gone. Fell off. Went back and showed her. She claimed that another child must have pulled on it and she would fix it now for me at the bargain rate of $15. Now my $30 sweatshirt was going to cost me $45. I walked out and vowed to tell people about this business. The two times I was in the shop the people in front of me mentioned to her that they thought she quoted them a different price. It was a couple of dollars more on each one. Just a couple of dollars they thought why argue. She does not write the price on the receipt when she hands it to you to pick up late. I cannot even give this place one star because the experience was atrocious. I needed to have a dress altered for an upcoming wedding I am in. I asked for an idea about how much this would cost. I was told $30-$50(although the lady denies EVER telling me this). When I came to pick up the dress several days lady, they tried to charge me $155!!!!! The dress only cost me $90. She claims it was harder than she thought and she needed to stitch up the side as well. To which I responded, then you should have called me!!! I am a school teacher and that kind of money is not easily acquired. I am still in disbelief by how rude they were. The woman working then called her boss and put her on speaker phone where I had to listen to her yell at me and tell me I was "robbing them". According to the lady, the material was expensive. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE IF THE ENTIRE DRESS WAS MADE USING THE SAME MATERIAL AND THEY CHARGED ME MUCH LESS???? I told them I couldn't pay it and they said they would charge me $120 but nothing less and would call the authorities if I didn't pay. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Never go to this place!!! They have no integrity and take no shame in pulling the wool over their customer's eyes! read more
