We really had a good experience the last time we went to Applebee's however after getting home, we found that they overcharged us by four dollars. we did go back and tried their buffalo chicken wrap special and their Cajun special. We also talked to the manager and showed her the four dollar error. She told us we should have reviewed the bill on the electronic payment and cough the mistake then. The service this time was pretty slow and even the manager had to help this poor guy out. The food was just mediocre. My wife did not care for the buffalo chicken wrap and the cage and special was OK. A lot of rice. I'm not sure if we'll ever go back. This place is hit or miss. They need a hostess to greet and seat you. There is never anyone there and the employees ignore you standing there and don't acknowledge you. Nice looking place but the service is not that good. Hit or miss. Food also. Sometimes it's not bad. Other days it's sub par. Not sure what's going on in the kitchen. I wish it was better honestly. It has potential. It just needs a manager who knows the restaurant business and gets the business back in shape. So enter at your own risk. Other options are available near by. read more

The worst service I have ever had. Our waiter was obviously new and you could tell he wasn't confident in what he was doing, but he was a nice kid. We were 2 couples and from the beginning we told him were splitting the bill between the 2 couples. We went in specifically for their 1/2 price appetizers, which were pretty good. When we asked for the bill, he brings us 1 bill with all the appetizers we ordered at Full Price. We asked to split the bill again and correct the amounts that were double what they should have been. He leaves, comes back with the same bill and he's asking us who had what and circling items on the bill, which is still not correct. After 2 or three more attempts at trying to get this bill split and correct we finally asked to see the manager as the kid was obviously not able to fix this problem. We were told that the manager was "busy" and he again tried to fix the bill. Still not correct (this is going on 30 minutes now), we got up to find the manager ourselves and got her to come to the table. Short story (I know its already too long), she couldn't get it right and had an attitude to boot. Never offered us any compensation for our troubles. I could go on but this has gone on long enough. We're never going back to this location and the company should fire that manager. read more

Ever since the new company took over this place has gone downhill. Food is horrible. Management turns over constantly, they scream and yell at the staff in the back where customers can hear them in the dining area. Jeanine the new area manager should be fired. This place hopefully will close soon. Have you seen the bathrooms. Health inspector would shut this place down. Disgusting. Now I hear they are not buying the NFL package. Whenever we wanted a nice steak at a decent price, my Wife & I always went to Applebee's. Didn't even have to think about it. The steaks we were served last night were very different. As soon as I went to cut it with my knife, I had to saw thru it. It very tough and very chewy. The ribs we ordered were good. But, after spending almost $100 there, we both decided to never go back. My cigar club is meeting here every Tuesday night between 7 - 1130 PM. There are between 7 and 15 of us on a regular basis. NOTE: We had to leave the last meeting location, after approximately a year, due to staff turnover and poor service from the night manager. So far, our experience here, with Annie as our server and James as the Bartender - has been exceptional. Only one real complaint from a member so far - but nothing major. The food is good, tickets are affordable, the drinks are good, and (a bonus) we have a covered, outside, patio to enjoy our friendships without worrying about the rain. It appears that this is a great location for us and we will use this as our new "clubhouse". Thank you Applebee's staff and management team. we really appreciate you. read more

My boyfriend and I had a great experience there there $25 their appetizer, and two full-size meals were great. The burgers were fantastic.

I'm always thrilled to discover restaurants that serve later than 9:00 pm and aren't mainly a bar. The Asian salad with chicken breast has always been a favorite and dependable meal, I don't stray too far. Here's my beef: at 9 or 10 pm where is the lighter fare? Appetizers are all heavy and fried and this late night eater loves breakfast food or just something small and lighter. Well, first the food is pretty good. Prices may seem high to some, but it's the going menu prices for chains due to inflation the last couple of years. The service is bad. There's one good server. But most - included two guys who don't seem to have any idea of what the job of server is. For example, never bringing silverware, bringing the food, putting on the table and asking if there's anything else and we have to tell him we need silverware. Bring flares or a 3x5-foot flag to wave if you want a drink refill. We went in -- this was our final time at this place -- no sign that says wait to be seated, no one to seat us, so we finally took a seat only to be ignored while others were helped. We started going there and really liked the food and the first time we had what seems -- in hindsight -- to be the only experienced and knowledgeable server. As I said the other three we had have little clue as to the basics of providing any acceptable level of service. It's too bad, as the food is good, but the inattention and incompetence of servers may be why the place isn't that crowded. Gave it four tries. Even when we got the worst service and incorrect food and bill, the manager made it right, so we tried again -- but that was it, being ignored when you're trying to have a nice dinner and spend your money is not acceptable. read more

What a disappointment. Hadn't been to this Applebee's in several years. A friend suggested it after liking their last meal there. It was a nice night so we sat outside under the covered patio. Not their fault but there were a few tables with smokers. That was my mistake to chose outdoors and then be disturbed by smokers. I'm not faulting Applebee's. The table was the next issue. I did ask the server to wipe it down. However it did have residue stuck to it that wouldn't come off. Didn't move because that meant moving closer to the smokers. Finally the food. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. It was ample and filled with fresh green lettuce. However the chicken was tasteless and strange. If I closed my eyes I would not have been able to identify it as chicken. Again it is my mistake to not explain my dissatisfaction to the server and make adjustments to my experience. So... we are admittedly the much hated snowbirds from New England. I mention this because the Applebees that we frequent there is a once a week habit for us. We truly enjoy the Oriental Chicken Salad and it's our Friday night go-to. We grab a seat at the bar and usually strike up a conversation with other couples. Here in Venice, we've been doing the same.... Except ... as another reviewer mentioned, the regulars at the bar go outside for a smoke, leaving their drinks at their place. Out of, perhaps a dozen visits, we've been able to get a bar seat maybe 3 times. The other times we were told those empty appearing seats were taken. Now, we don't HAVE to sit at the bar, we just prefer it. I will say the salads we enjoy are equally good here as what we're accustomed to. The only other complaint is they don't seem to have dedicated host/hostess people. At our home Applebees there are usually 3 people waiting at the door to seat you. Here, patrons walk in & stand there looking confused, hoping for someone to notice them. Overall, the food we like is decent, the 2 for 1 wine/beer deal is great and we'll definitely be back. I see a lot of very unfavorrable reviews of this place, and a lot of it is deserved. Service is soooooo slow, it's excruciating, but then again, they are short on staff, so it's not the servers' fault, I have to say. I waited a good twenty minutes or more to get my order, but my waitress Sabrina had about 5 tables to wait on, so I do not blame her, she did a good job with what she had to do. I had the CHICKEN AND SHRIMP with MASHED POTATOES and that was so delicious I ate the whole thing and even ordered some to go. My work buddies and I were out visiting a Target Store near Sarasota and we needed some lunch. We walked into Applebee's thinking it was a Chili's but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. (There was a Chili's next door) Our hostess was super nice and the manager checked on us at least three times. I ordered the lunch special of the fiesta salad and the turkey sandwich. Both were solid and our waiter was cool and refilled my soda as soon as it was empty. No one had any real complaints about it. The hunks of turkey were awesome and the bread was great, the salad was large and I was pretty full after I was done. Dressing on the side was beautiful too! Sat at the bar, the bartender had no personality, none. My dinner was so spicy I couldn't eat it. They did ask if I wanted something else but I didn't want to wait, the spinach dip we ordered and chips were good so I ate that. The store manager came over and wanted to know what the problem was, so I simply sad I didn't request to complain further, I just committed on how spicy the meal was. She (whoever was on the phone) tried to tell us our driver left without our food, but he had our phone number and was sending us updates - they made the wrong food - he had to wait while they remade it, waiting 20 minutes for French fries to come out, etc etc. Grub hub was not the problem! This location is a damn scam!!!!! I love the appetizer chicken quesadilla, and have order It many times; it comes with 6 slices of quesadilla. I had one ordered to go and had a friend pick it up and these people only put 4 slices in it! So the next time I went to get it to go I made sure I was there to check. I got 5 slices so I told the To go waitress who than began to argue with me. The manage got involved and he came off as sarcastic, took my bag back and within a few seconds came back with my ordered corrected; all 6 slices. When I got home to eat it I found out these bastards gave me the corners of 6 quesadillas!!! So I'm guessing somebody got the middle slices of my quesadilla or maybe one of their crew member ate it. We have been coming here for a while. We have had mostly good experiences here. Marky Mark and Stacie are top notch and keep the place working. The rest of the staff is always nice as well. If you want something special on your order just ask and they do their best for you. We keep coming back and so should you, or at least give them a chance. read more

I ordered take out ribs and mashed potatoes and side salad. The ribs were dried out, the mashed potatoes were lumpy and the salad didn't have much in it and the croutons were soggy. They shouldn't package the croutons in the salad for take out. I won't order take out from this Applebee's anymore. read more

Unfortunately not up to the current advertising ! Slow service (not the servers fault ~ only one server to service the floor). Burger now uses lower quality meat with plenty of grease. Bun so saturated, could not eat. The welcome back commercials do not mention they are still using a limited menu and no lunch menu which was a major reason we came here. Please improve this venue because it is much needed in the limited restaurants in Venice. On review mentioned the bar was good ~ sure for the cackley old men drinking their beer and talking loud and disruptively ~ not a good image for their restaurant. While on vacation in the Venice area we used Uber Eats for delivery of food from here. Our experience was AWFUL to say the least. Food was cold when it arrived, it took well past the estimated delivery time and the order was wrong. We ordered 2 exact same meals and were charged 2 different prices, one was $13 & change, the second order they charged over $18. Obviously Uber Eats isn't to blame for the awful meals, but their delivery service leaves a lot to be desired. Will NEVER order delivery from this place again and I might reluctantly use Uber Eats again but only if I have no other option. BEWARE of this Applebee's location! read more

Fairly new to the Venice area. Wasn't feeling up to par, so ordered food from Applebees. Delivery was excellent. Driver was very likeable and friendly. The french fries were excellent! Probably the best I have ever had! If I had known the fries were so good, would have ordered extra! Cheeseburger was really good, too, but there was some light pink in middle and I prefer well done. I'm still giving 5 stars because the fries were so goooooood! Plus, the driver was great! Definitely recommend! read more
