Walked in for lunch to an empty restaurant. Was told there was a 30 minute wait and would be more than hour to get our food.

we were having our car serviced and this was a closet restaurant. We walked in , lunch crowd was gone 1:15pm . We asked for a booth because we maybe hear a couple hours. The server said no I have to seat you here , the servers have to even out tables. We told her why, oh we both are senior citizens. She still said no I can't . Literally one table away was 3 empty booths. We sat at the table and still no server came to get our drink order. My husband asked , Yall must be short handed today, she replied No. we still waited . When traveling and I need a go to-it's Applebees. I know the menu and they always have a special going on. Recently, we found ourselves far from home on Summerhill road craving steak. The 8 oz Top Sirloin was the ticket. Great tasting steak. Our waitress clued us in on the fact they tend to over cook. So I ordered it medium-rare and it was flawless. Served with creamy mashed potatoes and slightly overcooked broccoli, it was still, a delightful evening. The appetizers were spot on, just like our home town. The staff were very accommodating. We were seated right away. We got our tea and water very quickly. We ordered from the "2 for" menu. Our salads came quickly; they were crisp and fresh. Our dinners came before we were half way through the salads. everything was hot, tasty, and exactly as ordered. Our server was attentive and anticipated our needs: extra napkins, lemon for tea. Everything went smoothly. We noticed the photos of local events on the restaurant walls, and since we're from out of town, we appreciated learning about Texarkana culture through these photos. read more

This place is very dirty inside. Needs a serious renovation. On 2 desperate visits I ordered a draft beer and both times they tasted horrible. I sent the beer back and tried another on tap and it was same issue. Then I had a customer approach me saying he'd sent his back previously. Why still serve tainted beer?!?! read more

Tonight me and 2 friends came in to enjoy a nice meal and sit in a friend of ours section that we haven't seen in a long time around nearly 10pm. We were sat in her section, and within not even 3 minutes we were approached by the night manager (ALECIA, if that's her real name) speed walking up to our section and asking very rudely "so which one of yall is barred from here?!" Keep in mind, none of us have ever been barred from there nor told so by any staff in the past. We eat here frequently and this off the wall approach caught us all by surprise. I proceeded to tell her none of us have been barred and why is she saying that? She then replies with an aggressive tone "I was just told that so you need to leave" we ask her why would we leave when we have every right to be there? We have never been barred and never given a reason to be barred to begin with. She then proceeds to say 3 times without letting us get a word in "you gonna leave? You gonna leave? You gonna leave?" Again I tell her no we aren't barred from there so we would like to continue our service as paying customers. she then proceeds to get louder and more aggressive saying "bye! Bye! Have a nice night! Get out!" To avoid further conflict we get up and leave the restaurant. I then call the restaurant 30 minutes later and ask to speak with her. She answers and I ask her what her name is. She refuses to answer my question and ask what can I do for you? I said I would like to know your name so I can file a complaint to Larry Robinson the GM in the morning because how you handled and approached us earlier was very unprofessional. She then said "do what you gotta do. Do what you gotta do" and hangs up in my face. We are VERY unsatisfied with how things were handled tonight, and do NOT recommend to eat here. The environment is very unfriendly and not welcoming whatsoever. The sad part is we planned on spending a good amount of money and tipping our waitress way beyond average. Not only did this manager stop her own employee from making her money, but she disregarded our service for the restaurant as a whole and has yet to explain the reason. We will be contacting the GM and HR in the morning. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. This place is not family friendly. We will not be back unless she is fired or handled accordingly. A manager should never speak that way to their customers, and we will not be back until she no longer works there. Then we might.. MIGHT give it another try. Do better Texarkana. read more

The night manager is a freaking NIGHTMARE!!!! Does not care about customer satisfaction AT ALL, only being on a power kick. Actually have had trouble with her twice but we left the second time, all we did was rotate the light so it wasn't in our eyes and she demanded to put it back. The night female manager is rude. She is on a power trip, just wanting to exercise her authority rather than giving great customer service. First she tried to keep us from bringing in our service dog. Then we wanted to sit at a booth and wasn't allowed to even though there were many available. So they sat us at a table with a bright light shining down on us. When we tried to direct it away from our eyes the manager scolded me like I was a little kid. We left. If i could give 0 stars i would. Im from out of town and travel constantly. Moved here for the time being and this was my first time here. I walk in the door greeted by the host who was having a conversation with her mom on her personal cell. She proceeds to tell her mom she has to go as if she wasn't at work and i was a bother. I sat at the bar, first off i had to ask for a menu and to order a drink. I wasn't even looked at until i spoke. There were 2 bartenders when i walked in and after ordering my food they walked away and weren't seen for 15-20 minutes. In the back going to the kitchen you can see 2-3 employees on their phones laughing and carrying on... I ordered the 3 course meal: 1. Salad 2. Wings 3. 3 Cheese Penne First off my wings came out before my salad and the wings had been sitting under the lamp for quite some time. I know this because they were dry, had zero sauce on the wings but it was all over the plate... As I'm in the middle of my second wing, the salad and main course came out at the same exact time. This time the same thing. No sauce on the penne but all over the bottom and the top layer of penne was crusted. (Due to sitting under the heat lamp i assume) I ask for my ticket and a box to leave because i just couldn't stand the service and had to wait 15-20 minutes for that as well without anybody attending the bar. This has to be by far THE WORST restaurant, not Applebees... RESTAURANT that i have ever walked into and if you think I'm coming back you are 110% wrong.. read more

What I love about Applebee's is their consistency and a menu with something for everyone. Applebee's Texarkana is no exception. The food is exactly the way I got it in Dallas or Miami. Order you favorite burger and it will taste the same at hopefully every location. The staff here are awesome as we joined them just after a crazy lunch. They were all cleaning up from a busy lunch and the staff all worked together as a team to get everything done. I've been places where the hostess did "hostessing" and nothing more. Or another server saying "that's not my section" but here the bartender sat as, got us menus and our drinks as our server was finishing up her 3 other tables. We ordered and got our food quickly and everything was hot and fresh. Everyone that walked by our table check in on us and that is how a great restaurant is run. This is by far the worst Applebee's I have been to. We ordered ahead of time around 10pm and once we got there around 10:30 we were told to stand on the other side of the bar and wait. No greeting like you'd expect at any other restaurant. After standing for about 20 minutes (mind you, they were not that busy) they asked what we ordered and we didn't receive our check to pay for our to-go order until around 11. After paying, the man didn't even give us our food. We had to look through the bags they had on the counter and finally got to leave late that night hoping we took the right bag (which we did). This Applebee's seems like it's more about their regular customers. If you're traveling through Texarkana, I wouldn't bother with this establishment. read more

Ugh! Listen, I usually don't complain because I've worked in the restaurant business before (and I'm easy to please). So, I know what it's like to get slammed with 4+ tables at a time. But this was not the case. There were 7 of us (6 adults & 1 child). The restaurant was not busy...at all. We were seated quickly & our server came by promptly. That's about where our service ended. We ordered appetizers and our meal. After about 20 minutes I wanted to stop our server and ask for our appetizers, but I decided to wait. Bad choice. Everything came out together. My side salad was a dinner portion size and my food was cold. I had to send it back, and we had to ask for several missing items. Again, it was not busy so I think it was unacceptable. Needless to say, when we come back to town I will NOT be eating at Applebee's. read more

We were traveling from Arkansas to Texas and stopped at this Applebee's for a desert. The hostess was quite friendly and so did our server seem, at least at first. All we ordered was dessert and coffee which took a long time to arrive. Additionally, our server, Jeremiah was neglectful, choosing to sit with his mother at the table behind us rather than make sure we attended to. To make matters worse, his mother and her friend had the foulest potty mouths I've ever heard, and we were sitting there with our fourteen-year-old daughters. I understand it may be difficult to censure one's own mother, but there are just so many motherf#%?kers and pu$$!3 Customers wish to hear bandied about in a family restaurant at 4:00 on a Sunday afternoon. Next time, leave potty-mouth Momma at home or at least out of earshot! Finally, I'd had enough and asked the hostess to make sure we could pay and leave immediately. In retrospect, maybe not paying and demanding a manager's attention would have made a stronger impact. If this were our neighborhood Applebee's, I probably would have. Unfortunately the steak was overdone, they forgot the topping, it took way longer than it should have and when we asked to speak to a manager the waitress went to get her but came back and told us that the manager said she would comp the steak. What's up with this chain? Or with me for continuing to go :( Yet another mediocre experience at an Applebee Restaurant. Staff was fair. Pleasant but overworked. Always running and too busy to give really good service. My wife ordered a steak medium-well. It came out barely medium. When they re-brought it back it was barely warm and the rest of her food on the plate was cold :( It seems Applebee Restaurants are banking on the volume of people eating out will out weigh the loss of customers due to poor service and only OK food. I travel 5 days a week out of town, so a lot of dinning out. I have been to my LAST Applebee Restaurant. I will not wast any more of mine or my companies money on this chain. I came here with my fiancé, my brother and his friends(all men, I was the only woman). Our waitress was more attentive to the men and everything I received was last which I found pretty rude. It was my first time being served this way. I am not sure if this was her first time being a waitress or not.The fact that she didn't even bring all of our food at once when me and my brother ordered the same thing was weird to me. I had been ordering numerous curbside to go without any issues until tonight. My order hadn't even been started when I arrived at my scheduled time so after I waited another 25 minutes, I get my order which is missing half of my drinks (which was only half filled). I get home to find out that things are missing from my order and the rest is cold or burnt. When calling the manager to complain, I was told it was no big deal and to then come back for the missing parts of my order. We had President Club dinner reservations to honor our best call center employees for the month of July. We made advance reservations for 16 people at 6:15PM. When we came to the restaurant there were only 8 or 10 people in the entire restaurant. We had advance reservations and yet we had to wait 15 minutes to get seated, when there was plenty of open seating. We were assigned only 1 waitress even though there were several other waitresses standing around. We asked to have another waitress assigned but they refused. I waitress is not enough for 16 people. Our waitress then disappeared for 1 hour. She didn't bring anything to the table before disappearing. No salad, nothing. Meanwhile during this hour no one was able to locate the waitress. When she finally returned, we find out that she hadn't even put in out order until just before she returned to the table, after that one hour. Because three of our employees had child care commitments, they had to leave before the dinners were even served. Several others had to take their meals home with them when it was served, because they also had child care commitments. By the time the hour and half that it took to get our food, there were only 5 other people in the restaurant and at least 3 waitresses standing around doing nothing. During this hour of waiting we asked the hostess to speak with the manager, whose name we found out is John. She informed us that the manager refused to come out and speak with us regarding the issues. When the food came out it was horrible. The food was dry. The grilled chicken was like rubber. There were missing items on the plates. On order was missing vegetables, one order of chicken and shrimp, was missing the shrimp. read more

Steak was totally undercooked and Mac and cheese with spicy chicken was gross. No cheese taste to it. Only sweet dry spirals with burned up chicken strips on top! I told her that my meal was not as described and I was not going to eat it. She said that there was no kitchen mistake, so there was nothing she could do.
