It's about a 15-20 minute wait to get waited on. The steak was so tough as to be inedible; we gave back and my husband got chicken. Our price should have been 2 for $25-instead we were charged $29. Then we were told, no broccoli, no green beans-get a different side. So we got Mac n cheese and onion rings. Then our bill reflected a price of $4 for EACH change--now our $25 two-fer becomes $37!! Walked in at 9 PM on a Sunday. There was no hostess. There were a few guests seated. One man was sitting at the bar and a bartender was behind the bar. I walked up and asked if anybody could just sit at the bar. This was her response: "You can if you want to. Why you yelling at me, though?" That is an exact quote. The waitress kept walking in and out of the restaurant flirting with her boyfriend who came to visit her doing god knows what. The table smelled bad, the lighting was off, and the 15 employees serving 5 customers were just standing around the restaurant talking loudly. Our waitress was so so so sweet. Her name was Ramonica and she was very attentive and took good care of us. She also gave me a free birthday treat which I really appreciated. The food was okay honestly. My steak was a little tough and more raw than i would have liked. But I didn't mind because I was full from the appetizer I ate so it wasn't a big deal. The ambience was great because they decorated the store for halloween. There were cobwebs and spiders and pumpkins everywhere and it was really cute. I met with a client at this particular Applebee's Bar and Grill in Tallahassee, Florida. While I am usually not a fan of chain restaurants, my client suggested this place because it is close to his work. This particular location of Applebee's is not far off of Interstate 10 and there is a decent amount of parking. Our server was incredible. They were short staffed, which seems to be the norm nowadays, and despite being shorthanded and overworked, our server never lost her smile nor her cheerfullness. The inside of this particular Applebees is what you would expect. It was upbeat and colorful and a pleasant enough place to enjoy a meal. For my lunch, I ordered their French dip sandwich. I believe they called it a Prime Rib Dipper or something like that. It was about fifteen dollars. I would like to think that the portion for that price was a bit small. My client had a wrap which was about eleven dollar and that did not look much better. All In all, I will give this place three stars it is a chain restaurant and I will judge it from that perspective. POOR POOR POOR SERVICE!!!! The manager greeted us at the door and asked us to wait. He went to the kitchen and got the hostess who then came and greeted us. She went to 3 different servers all of who said loud enough for us to hear that they didn't want us. She went ahead and sat us and we WAITED. The manager asked 2 servers if they would help us and again they both said no. Finally the bartender helped us. The first two drinks we ordered she had never heard of even though they were on the menu so we ordered something else only for her to say that they were out of that. Finally our third choice was acceptable. When we ordered our food it was a very similar experience. She came back and said that they don't have the Crispy Shrimp and she didn't even know why it was on the menu. When we finally got our food it was ok except they forgot out sides. The entire time we were eating there were 3 servers sitting in the booth behind us complaining about the management and how they couldn't get enough help or pay the staff. There was only one other table of 6 that was sat after us in the restaurant at the time while we were there. This place is a shit show for sure. Our servers name was Arthur and he was so great! His service was phenomenal and he had such a positive attitude throughout all of our time there! He was so sweet and friendly and would check up on us consistently with a bright smile on his face, and was very mindful of the fact we were traveling and still had a long road ahead of us. It has been a while since I have visited Applebees. My last two interactions concerned the location on Apalachee Parkway, and both times, the experience was negative. In any case, met up with some friends at this location (Capital Circle NW) this past Saturday after a morning of community service projects. We "beat the crowd" but it still took a while for us to receive our order since there were only a few servers on hand. I am sure we have all been on the other end of waiting longer than usual due to staff shortages, of which I have no problem, but just like to know this when I make my order. There were over 25 of us seated in a particular section and there was only one server working the entire section. We knew we would be in for a wait and just passed the time chit-chatting. It seems that other servers could have offered help a bit in that the other sections only had a few folks in them altogether. However, I am sure there is a method to how this is done; perhaps the servers have to stick with their assigned areas and not help others, particularly when tips are involved. Still, the server who waited on us was super friendly, very attentive, very respectful, and did very well under the pressure of serving such a big crowd by herself. Regarding the specific orders, I ordered the Southwest Chicken Bowl and other parties at my table ordered the Fiesta Lime Chicken, the Classic Burger and fries, and Wings and fries. We all enjoyed our meals, though I noticed that my "bowl" is not as deep as it used to be, lol! Inflation! :o) All in all, we had an enjoyable time and I just wanted to commend the young lady who waited on the group that was seated at 12:00 noon at this location. We give you props; you handled yourself with poise and grace and we really appreciated the service! :o) I usually post photos of the food, but was so busy talking, I didn't think about this. When to Applebees after graduation it was freezing inside the restaurant. Some of our noses were running it was so cold. We asked for them to turn down the air SEVERAL times, and even asked for the manager, he refused to come out and we were told he was cooking on the line. Avoid this location like the plague. I would've given this place a zero, except the waiter apologized profusely. Right away noticed the house flies buzzing around and the dead ones in the window sill. Opened my silverware and leftover food flung across the table off the fork. Waiter took order for child's food right away, took our order a few minutes later but forgot to put it in the system. Claimed because we were outside his normal section he forgot. Hilarious. Showed up at 8pm, sat at the bar. Bartender greeted us at 8:10pm and said she would be with us. She then makes 30 drinks and waits on a couple tables BEFORE taking our drink order. After sitting there for 20 minutes with not so much as water, we moved to a high top with a waitress. Waitress finally takes our food and drink order at 8:30pm (yes it took 30 minutes to place an order). We remind her about our drinks 5 times but finally at 8:50pm our food arrives so we have to cancel our drink order. I understand in 2023 customer service is at an all-time low, but this was ridiculous. Applebees is always a great option for people want to go out late and sit down and eat with friends. The inside of the restaurant in Tallahassee is pretty nice with the wall decorations. But I have to be honest with the people, the service here is pretty bad. You will wait 20-30 minutes for apps and good luck getting extra sauce or drinks refilled in time for you to enjoy it. For what Applebees is this is a great option but your not going to chose this restaurant over the other options in town is you have a choice. I've visited this location 3 times and, so far the food as well as the service was impeccable. The food was well seasoned and the perfect temperature. The servers were fast paced, respectful, attentive, and people friendly. The patio area was a nice vibe, very clean and spacious. I enjoyed my experience each time I visited. Keep up the great work. One tip I can give is for staff to remember to ask the customers when they get a dessert to go, whether they want it warmed or not. Other than that, everything was perfect! read more
