The food was great! As always. We were surprised to see that our server was the same girl we had at breakfast at a different restaurant. Her name is Leah, she was great, very helpful and friendly. Thanks Leah. The restaurant was very clean an everything seemed to well maintained. Definitely go and check it out. read more

We were seated pretty quickly, and our order was taken promptly. It was busy, the service wasn't awful but the conversations of the staff was definitely something we could have lived without. At the next table a waitress was saying she was so hot sweat was going down her back , and a server was just a few feet away saying it was his moms birthday soon and it was the worst day of his life. Definitely an atmosphere of wtf ( forgive me but it was). Food was decent, drinks from the bar was mediocre. read more

If you've been to one Applebee's anywhere, you've sort of been to them all as they are all cookie cutter-like identical, with the minor exception of some local art. Applebee's Grill + Bar in Summerville is no exception to that general rule. The good part about that is, if you are traveling, no surprises. Though all their food may be only mediocre at best, which I found it to be here, rest assured the place will be clean, well run, and the service good. I really got a chuckle out of some of their menu items, like boneless chicken wings. Boneless wings? Really? Being from the Buffalo area, that sort of sounds like some kind of venial culinary sin to me. But as they also had bone-in wings, they've covered themselves. Be all that as it may, I went for their Bourbon Street Steak which turned out to be a nice piece of top sirloin dowsed with Cajun spices served on a sizzling platter. As I eat my meat rare and knowing they were going to use a sizzling platter, I cautioned them in advance to leave it rare enough that the heat from the platter wouldn't turn it into well done by the time I got to eat it. And to my surprise, they did heed to what I said, so I did get it rare. And though Cajun spices alone do not make a Cajun steak, I have to say it was pretty good. Also, as I didn't want any potato with it, they had no problem accommodating me by doubling up on the broccoli. read more

Where does a reviewer start with a poorly run establishment such as this? This was one of the poorest-run Applebee's I've ever been to. Started out being greeted and seated quickly and that's the one star. A good judge of a restaurant is how well-kept bathrooms are and I didn't take that advice from a good friend. I always go into a bathroom first anyways so that advice makes more sense to me now. This bathroom was disgusting. The urinals looked like they hadn't been scrubbed for 6 months or longer. The floor was greasy and slippery and overall a liability to the owners. We ordered drinks when initially seated and those were brought to us rapidly. Our server Kelly came to our table. She asked us if we were ready to order and we proceeded to try to start providing our order. My other good friend started to give his order and Kelly stopped him mid-sentence to go to the front door (not too far from where we were seated) to seat two of her regulars. They were an older sweet couple so I can overlook that for their comfort. Kelly turned around to our table and looked like she was not even sure where she was. My friend who had started his order asked if she was ok because we weren't sure if she was. She was ok luckily, and we proceeded to order. I explicitly stated my salad was "Gluten Sensitive" as I ensured I was the last one to order. Our table took forever to get our food. We were told by Kelly that our food was next to come out. We then watched two other tables get their food and ours hadn't come out yet. My two friends entrees came out and I was still waiting on my salad. Once the grilled chicken salad I ordered came out, it had a breadstick and croutons on it. I brought the mix-up, up to Kelly that I am gluten sensitive and can't have any bread items and it would have to be completely remade. After 15 minutes when I had not received an update or gotten the salad, I called Kelly over. She immediately stated he was still working on it. I asked her to just cancel as we were on a long road trip and needed to stay on schedule and needed to go. She let the manager know who came out with excuses as to why/how the mix-up happened. I let her know "gluten sensitive" should clue them in to include no bread items period. She continued to try to make excuses and cover for the mix-up. I could have let all of this slide if she had just owned it and said yes we screwed it up, and it shouldn't take that long to bring that menu item out. Oh, almost forgot. My friend ordered the grilled chicken with shrimp and the shrimp were semi-transparent meaning they weren't even cooked all the way. Stay away as this place is going to hurt someone since their wait staff, kitchen, and management seem to care very little for the health and safety of their patrons. read more

Got told they didn't have any booths. There were 8 open booths when we came in. When we asked why the server told us there was nobody to do those tables til 4. So they made us set at the bar, while we were asking our server why she said we would get s#/÷÷/ service if we sat over there. The manager just came out and let us move to a booth lol. But there outta ribs so I had to change my order to a ribeye, o well. I hope it's good. Manager came back out and was really nice. Well changing my review from 1 star to 4, the manager saved it. Honestly food was good actually. read more

If you're looking at this review you, like me, are stuck in Summersville for the night, hoping futilely for a good dinner. Forget it. Applebee's is as good as it gets here, but it's not as bad as some of the reviews indicate. The service was satisfactory, although the server told us that we couldn't get a bottle of wine, even though the menu included wine by the bottle. The food was as expected, which is as good as you can expect. Overall a safe, if uninspired, option. read more

As we're sitting our waitress complained she was being sat with us because come to find out she can only handle one table at a time. After waiting forever for her to never get to us we asked to just move into the bar area. The waitress was way better but the kitchen took forever with our spinach dip, as I was mixing it it was oddly crunch.. it was ice cold.. literally still frozen on the bottom... I wish I was kidding... that was it for us. Bar waitress was perfectly fine but our patience was out. read more

Not a huge fan of Applebee's but this was really bad. We had been on the road for hours and needed to stop. We ordered the bourbon st chicken and shrimp, and the shrimp stir fry. What you see in the pics is what wasn't edible. They clearly microwaved the bourbon st chicken to the point of being rubber, the potatoes were nuclear hot so I had to wait to eat them but then they turned to hard lumps that you couldn't eat. Service was not much better than food, when your customers aren't eating the food you should ask if there is a problem. Her tip went down to 18% Trying to end on a happy note, the Patron margarita was awesome. read more

Seated quickly then a totally disengaged waitress managed to wallow over to us and take order.food arrived quick but fish was lukewarm paste like substance inside poorly microwaved, fries were rancid mostly cold! Waitress informed us we could just leave money on table apparently it was just too much work for her to wallow back out of the kitchen to get the money? Drink had no noticeable amount of alcohol in it whatsoever?? You won't want to eat again for a while after this shitty experience of corporate slop! I honestly don't even know why this chain is still open! I always regret eating there, and especially at this one in Somerville, WV. This place is conveniently located in summersville near the hospital and other restaurants. I ordered the Parmesan steak and shrimp. I asked the steak to be well done and it was more medium well. It was ok but I wish it was cooked a little more. The shrimp and Parmesan sauce was very good though. I added a backed potato as my side but it was pretty much burnt. The side salad and ranch was good and the croutons tasted homemade. The waitress was not that nice to us and I asked 3x for the same thing but she never came back to the table besides for our food and the check. They were also out of broccoli and onion soup. read more

I'm really giving this place credit for one star. Truthfully, they deserve less. On a weekend trip to West Virginia for a family reunion, we stopped in a familiar restaurant for dinner. Being from Baltimore, Maryland I can assure you I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth. Usually, I don't complain much for poor service and subpar food. But for the first time in a verrryyyyyyy long time, Applebee's pissed me off. It all started when we pulled into the lot. A red flad was when 8 employees were outside on their phones and smoking next to a side door. I thought it was unprofessional and thought of my teenage years when I was a bus boy and they didn't allow smoking anywhere near customers. When we walked in the front door their was not a hostess. We waited a good 5 minutes but eventually the hostess got off her smoke break to seat us. I noticed something odd. All the wait staff were wearing beer shirts.... Our waitress came to take a drink order. My mother and father in law ordered a blue moon draft. But they couldn't enjoy it right away. You see, they had to go to the hotel to get their ID. Clearly older then 21. But that's not the biggest issue because law and policy reigns supreme. They came back with their IDs and along came our other drinks as well. I watched my father in law take a sip of his blue moon and make a funny face. "Taste this," he exclaimed. After a quick sip it was clear the draft lines are dirty and the beer tasted the same. But we didn't complain.... They took our order and the wait begun! But when asked for Mac and cheese the waitress said "it's Kraft so it's the good stuff." Mind = blown 30 minutes later our salads came. Mine was 40% rotten lettuce. I ate what I could and then couldn't stomach anymore. See pictures. My in law was given his French onion soup and it was halfway filled with a tiny piece of cheese. See picture. After we stated the disappointment, they comped the soup and salad. 20 minutes later come the main course. 3 steaks cooked with with ice cold uncooked carrots. I had a order of honey barbecue wings. I took one bite and noticed it was rotten chicken. But at this point I was so irritated I told myself I wouldn't say anything. But when the the waitress seen the uneaten wings, I couldn't lie. She told the manager and a young, douche bag manager comes over to tell me that the wings are fresh everyday and that nothing is wrong with them. Again, I'm not a person that ever complains this bad! But wow.... Just wow. He told me that he already comped my salad and he can't comp anymore. Well thank you mr. Douche bag manager with your sears button up shirt. It was so nice of him to give me a free brown salad with complimentary rotten lettuce. I simply told him I'll pay for it and it's a small price to pay compared to getting sick. This was truly the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Two other tables around me complained of poor service and long waits for food. I could go on and on with the horrible service, food and atmosphere Applebee's in Summerville, WV provided. I was so irritated that I gabbed my tired son and waited in the car for the rest to try and finish their horrible meals. When I was out there I snapped a pic of these horrible cooks and wait staff smoking outside. I watched one of them go back in a deliver someone's food Straight from smoking. When the family came back outside they couldn't even finish their meals. Another couple in the parking lot was on the phone filing a complain with their corporate offices. But to end this horrible review with a cherry on top I must share one last thing. When they were walking out and said goodbye to the waitress, she told them she just got out of jail for drugs. Ok... One word to describe this Applebee's. HORRIBLE read more

We ate at the Applebees in Summerville when we left the lake! We wanted to go inside & sit down for a nice meal & it was absolutely the WORST experience EVER! Giving I worked in the food industry for 15 years I'm qite understanding, but when you get your appatizer before your drinks, u kno its going to b an experience! Then your waitress comes & takes the table that gets seated rite beside you, she takes their drink order, then proceeds to tell you she'll b rite back w your drinks. Then we eat our appetizer, wait for 30 more minutes before we ask for our salads! We ordered the 2 for $25 plus got desert! My husband had to ask for a refill, then by the time I was done w my desert she finally asked if I wanted a refill so since we waited so long & was ready to leave i said yes I'll take one to go... Needless to say because we had the promo to get a free app, they acted like we wanted a free meal! We never 1 time complained about how crappy our service was which the waitress was sweet as can be, just crappy service! The manager came around & asked how things were then we never seen him again, till our waitress came back & said that our promo code for our free app wouldn't work & my husband asked to speak w a manager... we still never seen the manager, they just took off $4 for the mozzarella sticks when it was half off appraisers any ways & while we stood there waiting 15 more minutes for the tea 2 go, when we was walking out the door she came up & told us they was out of tea & said they was making some .. had she told us that before we wouldn't have waited.. but what got me was my son asked for a tea to go as well, his mouth was hurting so he didn't eat anything, we even bought him an applesauce & a drink but he didn't eat... when he asked for a tea to go she proceeded to tell me they was free like we wanted something for free! We paid for his drink! I wish so bad I would have been a secret from corporate because I would fire everyone in that place! Where we both went online to sign up we both got a code for a free appetizer so we thought what the heck, we'd try to get some food to go today since we was already in Summersville again, shoot no! Today confirmed we would NEVER eat at Applebees in Summersvill again! My husband went into order the food since the code would not work again, the manager acted like he was there for a free meal because we had 2 codes where we both signed up for the app! But let me tell you what's funny, my husband works for the Turnpike & we spend more on eating out than he probably makes in a year! We always pay for our food, but giving the last few times we have eaten out was the worst exp ever, we're gonna b eating in for the next few months! When he walked in to get our food (which was cold, & we only ordered 3 appetizers!) we didn't get any silverwear! & we didn't even get the free app he just "took off" $4! I will never eat at this Applebees again I do know that much! Considering that we have spent $70 between yesterday & today just for the people running this place to treat us like we was just there trying to get something free when we got the promo code for downloading yalls app to begin with which expires on the18th so we would have been stupid to not use it! Not that we will b keeping the app now! I would extremely not recommend anyone to go to this Applebees to eat if y'all have a promo code because they will treat u like your just there for a free meal! The manager asked my husband "wasn't u just in here yesterday trying to get a free appetizer" because the code wouldn't work for the waitress or him I guess! Which most definitely wasn't our fault! We didn't ask for a free appetizer we simply received a code for signing up! We waited over a good hour yesterday to get our food, we got our appetizer before our drinks, then had to ask for our salads then got treated like some bums while waiting for our first refill before leaving w nothing "when they was free" when we wouldnt have cared 1 bit either way if we woulda had to pay for them we just didn't appreciate waiting 15 more minutes than we had already been there throughout this horrible experience just to get told "we're out of tea I'm so sorry" then today we got cold food with no utinsel's to eat with not that we could eat cold mozzarella sticks cold boneless wings & cold quesadillas!! We simply threw it all away & went to fat Eddys to get some good Food! read more

This place is hit or miss and today it was a miss. The place was almost empty but it took our server about ten minutes to come to our table. We placed our full order and it took another ten minutes to get our drinks. My wife's burger was good but came with one single piece of brown lettuce on it. My shrimp was barely average. We stopped while passing through town because it is in a convenient location and you usually know what you going to get from an Applebees. It was a Monday night and a light crowd. Had to wait for a hostess who was unfriendly and seemed to be put out with seating us. Nearby tables were dirty our entire stay. It created an unclean atmosphere. Some workers standing around a nearby register playing with their phones. Our server was pretty good. He salvaged a poor experience. Both chicken entrees were rubbery. Already a bit discontent that we were running behind to get on the road, my mood was only made worse when we opted for Applebee's. Not a lot of options in Summersville as far as food is concerned, but fast food with a 50% "we bring it to your table" upcharge wasn't really better than Taco Bell or Long John Silver's, in my opinion. Initially, when the waitress refilled my sweet tea (an obscurity in Columbus) almost instantly, I thought this might not be so bad. However, our food took forever to come out. Our check took even longer. The mixed vegetables that came with my meal were clearly of the frozen variety, as is 90% of the food served, I'm sure. The beer selection was deplorable, Sam Adams being the only thing remotely close to a microbrew. To make matters worse, I kept getting stared at because of my being a weirdo covered in tattoos. Not by the staff, but the other bar patrons. That's negative points on the atmosphere scale. If you absolutely must be waited on with a tip expected, then this is an option. Not necessarily a good one, but an option. If you aren't kingly and don't mind walking your food to your own table, then I'd recommend other fast food. read more

I usually don't leave many negative reviews, but I wanted to warn people. Service was bad, slow and uncaring, felt like I was a bother. Long wait for the food, never got my appetizer, was never asked for a drink refill. Chicken was so chewy, had to ask for a knife. Manager did take appetizer off the bill, but never said a word. Seems like no one wanted to be there. Not the experience I have at other Applebee's. read more

Good food. Also bigger portion (I always order pasta) than the Applebee's where I live. My only concern is I wonder is water free refill? Coz the server didn't even bother to ask if we need more drinks (it was 4 of us & none of us got a refills & others drink tea & soda). My glass was empty empty. He did asked how's everything though - how's the food 2x. But guess he was worried about the food & didn't notice some of us need refill on the drink. And my husband ordered wings, other place will give a small plates just in case you want to share. I guess we just hv to be more demanding next time instead waiting for the waiter to offer us something. Point is: our waiter not attentive enough. Just basic same question how's everything & how's the food. Oh..I'm surprised he asked me if I want a to go box. Bingo...you hit the jackpot man by asking a different question. read more

I would have given this 3 stars if it hadn't been for the slow service. I had the honey pepper sirloin and it was delicious. My complaints are that it took 15 minutes after I had been seated before anyone asked me what I wanted for dinner. I asked if I could get a beer and she said oh, of course you can then took my drink order and dinner. Didn't ask if I wanted an appetizer. I ordered a salad and it came out after about 10 minutes, before the beer ever came out. When I got the bill I was charged for a 9oz steak when I ordered a 7oz. In Fairness to them it looked like a 9 oz. read more
