I wanted to go on a girls date with one of my girlfriends. We were starving and wanted the happy hour appetizers at 9pm. We were seated right away but waited forever to order our food, receive our food, and the longest wait was probably around an hour just to get our bill. The server was nice overall. He would say "sorry about the wait I'll be right back" multiple times and went away and hung out in the kitchen or talked at the bar. There was a group of maybe 6 people or more that arrived a while after us, got their food, tab, and left before us only because they had a different server. Server was good, but our broccoli chicken Alfredo came out with reheated chunks of thigh and grizzle. I asked what changed, and supposedly there's a chicken shortage so all dinners including chicken are made with whatever cut they have. The quesadilla burger was super greasy and you could bend it like cardboard. The only saving grace from this being a one star review is the server. read more

This was terrible. Waited 1 hour and 30 minutes to get food. Once I got food the order was wrong I asked for a quesadilla and was given a chicken quesadilla. A member of my group ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with no ranch and it had ranch. 2 people in our group got food at the hour mark and by the time the other food came at the 1 hour and 30 minutes they were done with their food. The blackened salmon was the only good dish in all 6 dishes ordered. Never coming back. I have been to other Applebee's and had better experiences but the food isn't as good anyways. read more

My mother and I dined here recently. When we arrived, the place wasn't busy at all. We waited 10 minutes to be seated. When we were seated, our server took our drink order and later returned for our food order. I got wings and fries. My mom got a sandwich and fries. First of all, the food came out COLD. Fries were not even room temperature, just straight up cold. My wings weren't hot, they were room temperature. If I'm going to dine in a restaurant, I expect my food to be hot and fresh when it comes out. Service was terrible. The server barely checked on us and I couldn't even get a refill because she wouldn't come to check on us. Very disappointed in what Applebee's has turned into. I have had two consecutive bad experiences with this Applebees location. The first time we stopped in late with our son after a sporting event. It took about 15 minutes to be seated. The waitress was next to non existent. We had to use the page our waitress button on our table computer and she still didn't come. The food eventually arrived and it was the worst food from an Applebees I have had. Bourbon Chicken was small and overcooked. There was one bar tender that was slower than slow. It was a bad experience and I thought it was a fluke. I tried again last with the family. We were seated in a reasonable time even though there was no one at the greeters podium and a lady had been standing there waiting to pickup food for much longer. Once seated at a high top I saw again there was one bartender endlessly making drink concoctions. I could not even identify who the waitress for our area was. We said for 20 minutes with no service at all. There was only one person sitting at the entire bar. He couldn't seem to get the bartenders attention. When he finally did he ordered two drinks at once, a trick I've see before when you know your server won't be back for a long long time. We got up and left. I will not ever return to this location again. Staff huddled by the back of the bar didn't budge as they watched us walk out the door. We went to Fiesta Cancun down the road and had an awesome experience! Give them a try for great Mexican food and service! read more

This is the worst excuse for a restaurant I have EVER SEEN. The burger was so fucking thin and the lettuce was like they chopped a fuckin cabbage and gave me a quarter of the middle of the lettuce. WHO WANTS THE WATERY CRUNCHY PART OF THE LETTUCE??? Who wants their onion to be six ringlets of onion on their burger? And then inside the lettuce divet there's just a PILE of pickles laying in the center. Also who the hell takes off the top bun for delivery????? What's the point? Just put the damn top bun on the burger. Also not to mention the lack of care put into it all. Mozzarella sticks were definitely frozen obviously, and the French fries as well. My wife and I had a $25 gift certificate and went grudgingly, expecting the worst given the past reviews. But we were surprised to have had a good experience and pretty tasty food. My wife had the French Onion Soup and a side of fries and a pretty decent Perfect Martini which came with a side of chips and salsa. The soup was a bit salty so she couldn't finish it, but that would be expected with that kind of soup. Otherwise it was full of cheese so she was not disappointed. I had a Swiss Bacon Cheese Burger, which was medium rare just like I ordered it. Their burger is never frozen which made for a nicely flavored and perfectly seasoned burger. It was a quiet afternoon when we went so service was good and our waiter was pleasant and attentive. The decor was "commercial" but with imagines of local sites on the walls. Not quaint by any means, but at least it was clean. Our bill was $37 which wasn't cheap, but we didn't take advantage of the happy hour specials; the Perfect Martini was $10 alone. Our mistake, but overall, we were pleasantly surprised by our experience and would try the restaurant again without protest! read more

Great people / employees but the food is very meh. My steak was ordered to be medium (I wanted pink in the middle and I verified that with the waitress) but it was well-done when I got it. (There was NO PINK at all) They do not carry stout beer at all. Very disappointing. The kitchen staff also forgot our dipping sauces with the appetizer and then they forgot the coleslaw that came with the fish and chips meal Apparently they also do not carry malt vinegar for the fish. My son, father, and I were really looking forward to Sunday lunch at this location. We came in with a positive attitude, excited for our lunch. We walked in and weren't greeted (that's ok, when it's busy it happens), but we stood there looking for a sign that said "seat yourself" or "wait to be seated", but there wasn't one. So, we found a booth and sat down. We made eye contact with several staff members who looked away and continued with what they were doing. After 15 minutes I went to look for a menu and was finally approached by a staff member. I explained that we'd been here for 15 minutes and didn't see a sign etc. She apologized and said she's been asking her manager to get one for some time now. We let it go and stayed hopeful:) The waitress came about 10 minutes later to take our drink order, and returned with them pretty quickly. She was very straight faced, no smiles, or welcoming. Just acted as if she were stressed out and tired. FYI, I've waitressed in the past for many years. I understand how stressful and underpaid the job can be! So, I'm always extra kind and tip well. Unless, the service is horrible. Anyway, we ordered the food. The chips and spinach dip came first. Someone other than our waitress just set it down without a word and walked away. This happened with all of our food FYI. The chips were ALL broken and small, and we couldn't dip them without getting our fingers full of food lol. We waited for a staff member to check on us, which didn't happen, so 15 minutes later I was able to wave someone down and showed them the chips. They didn't apologize, they just said "I'll get you more", and did just that. By that time, the dip was cold. Our food came. It was ok. We have had their food many times (mostly in bloomington) and it's always great! This was just ok. Our drinks were never full, we had to ask 3 times for refills and sat without a drink for long periods of time. Again, I get it. Sometimes it's busy and it happens. But they were not busy at all. I actually felt as if I was bothering them when I asked for more water and soda! One time, she brought us 3 drinks, and set them on the corner (the edge) of the table and walked away! The silverware was dirty. We asked for more, they were dirty too! There were dirty dishes on the table next to us the entire time we were there, and at one point, a waitress brought dirty dishes from another table and set them at the table next to us with the other dirty dishes!!!! Our waitress barely took care of us herself, it was always other staff bringing out drinks and food. I thought we were on candid camera after awhile! How could so many things go wrong? My dad and I just kept looking at each other in total disbelief. It was unreal! It was an awful experience and we left feeling bummed. We will not return to that location. I rarely complain because I always feel like a jerk. But, this was bad. The entire time we felt like we were bothering them by eating there. No smiles, no small talk, slow service, poor service. The only person who was kind and helpful was the host, but she was busy picking up dirty dishes most of the time. read more

I got a $15 gift card for Applebees on my birthday. So I went up there to try the cowboy burger with sweet potato fries and a bottle of Bud. The the bartender was very friendly and very helpful. Very poorly run. Been here several times. Sat at bar. Even when just a few people sitting at bar service is slow. Bartender to busy making drinks for servers, taking to-go orders, or just gone/inattentive. Gave them a shot again this week and the bartender literally took 6 or 7 trips back and forth to unload some clean glasses and didn't look at me/acknowledge my presence at all. After the 6th or 7th trip I simply got up and left. Literally no contact! TV Soundboxes are nice but the TVs too small for how far away they are from the seats (i.e., they're poorly placed). No healthy appetizers. $9.29 for regular chicken wings??? Seriously? Very limited/standard beer selections (5 taps). Obviously poor management. Note, Buffalo Wild Wings next door has 20 taps and about 40 bottles, and even a local (Stillwater) beer. Plus much better & more TVs, friendlier service, etc. read more

We visit Applebees frequently at other locations and the Stillwater location has THE worst service. Note: We also visit the Stillwater location frequently. We were seated quickly and then at least 10 minutes went by before i had to get the hosts attention to have a server come to our table. The server came made an excuse, then apologized. In the servers defense I think he was embarrassed. He took our order and then during our dinner three different servers tried to bring us other people's food. Very unorganized. Not sure why all the bad reviews, except that many of them are very old. We visit this Applebee's at least once a month, and we're always pleased with the food and service. They appear to be short-staffed. Not sure if that's an Applebee's (budgeting) issue or a local management issue. However, our server is always polite and hard-working. Sometimes I think people expect way too much from a "budget" restaurant. If I can sit down and have dinner for 2 for twenty bucks, my standards are different than when I'm paying $50 a meal. Their food is good. If you're not happy, they'll make it right. But it always appears that people want something for nothing. I've seen people argue until their food is free, then leave nothing for the server. I doubt you'd want to be treated that way at your job. We go back for Monday Burger Night, half-price appetizers, honey chicken mac and cheese, and friendly service. All at a price that rivals fast food. read more

If I could have left no stars I probably would have. I have been in the restaurant industry for over 23+yrs. and I can honestly say I have never treated a guests table as poorly as this. My husband, my children, and my mother decided to take my mom out to dinner for her 60th birthday. She suggested the Applebee's down the road and we have always had good experiences with Applebee's in the past so we figured this would be good-Wrong! When we arrived the waitress greeted us and took our drink order: fine. Came back with drinks- good. Said she would be back-ok. Around 20 mins later showed up after she sat 2 new tables, got their drinks and took their orders. Stopped and asked if we were ready to order- YEP about 15 mins ago. Took our order and offered to get my husband a refill on his draft beer. Sure. 20 more mins go by and everyone needs a refill and didn't get it. Waitress walks by our table multiple times. Beer finally arrives from the bartender no less. 15 mins after order.Waitress stops and offers to get my daughter a refill of lemonade and my daughter is afraid to give her the cup for fear she won't come back with anything but agrees. After 20 mins. no lemonade but my daughters food arrives- no one else's food just one person. Then after 5-10 mins they come with my sons salad. We wait- still no refill on lemonade- are you kidding me. Someone drops off mom's soup but no salad, or bread, or my husband and i's food. I see a manager and explain the situation he apologizes and tells me the are short staffed- yah not buying it. The remaining g food arrives but still not Mom's salad and my daughter finally walks to the damn bar to get her drinks back. Manager comes back and says he is sorry, and will take 20 bucks for my bill. Not even close to making this better- I maintain my tongue as this is my Mothers birthday but I vow to tell you this- I took your survey and it was all negative and I would never return to your location again! I will drive to Hudson next time where we can get a cold beer, a smile with service, and a freakin drink in under 25 for a refill. I could understand if the place was packed but it was 4:30 on a Monday and it just began to get busy after 5:30. This was horrible service and honestly next time save the excuse and come back and say, " I'm sorry we failed you we do not ha e a logical excuse." That would have been fair. Go here often, at least 2 times a month. The food is good and the after 9pm specials are the only reason we come back. The service is terrible, most of the servers have bad attitudes and I've had several roll their eyes when asked for a refill on a drink and another refuse to bring a refill, she had to go find the other server to do it. Management could be better. I go to restaurants several times a week and wait staff is great at other places, not sure why their staff is so poor in customer service. read more

I brought my 3 kids here for dinner and my 4-year old daughter started having a meltdown because she wanted hand lotion. Our server was able to find some from a coworker and brought it over. Horrid. The strawberry lemonade I ordered (because they don't carry Coke products) was a neon red color not found anywhere in nature. Just received awful service. The floor manager was not nice at all. The rare steak that was ordered - which came out more medium, and was covered in au jus. Not what should be on a steak! It should be cooked properly and have juice itself. Then when trying to fix it they tried to take off 8 dollars. This was a 2 for 25 deal. That is not right. Then the floor manager was like "well people ask for the au jus all the time." Well we didn't. When trying to explain our confusion with the bill she (her name was Betsy, same as mine) kept cutting me off and interrupting. The chips in the spinach artichoke dip were super salty and I don't think I have ever had so much pepper on my french fries. The other steak that was ordered was also overcooked. My ribs were about the only good thing and the mashed potatoes. A PROPERLY COOKED STEAK DOES NOT NEED AU JUS!!!! Good luck to this Applebee's. Will not recommend...ever. read more
