We were traveling through town and wanted a quick, easy family-friendly restaurant to have dinner in. Applebees was the perfect answer. Despite being really hot outside, it was nice and cool (actually, too cold if you asked my family) inside. We were quickly seated and our friendly waitress brought us menus and drinks. Food was average for a place like this. My chicken sandwich was much larger than expected and the bottomless fries (straight from a freezer bag) were fine. The price of $10 was perfect. My kid had a child's pizza that looked like something a school cafeteria would serve, but the many options for sides like applesauce were appreciated. My wife really enjoyed her steak. There must have been a special on Boubon steak as the wait staff kept walking by with plates of it. This place was exactly what we needed and we had a good time. read more

In high school- Applebee's was the go-to spot for after events. I was feeling a bit nostalgic the other night so we said "Hey, why not Applebee's?" It was like walking into a slightly updated time capsule which was what we were kind of looking for. We got the appetizer sampler platter (not sure what the official name is now) & it was good. I'm assuming most of it was warmed up in a microwave but it all came out hot which was nice. Our server was really nice & tried her best which is all I could have asked for. The dessert was actually very, very good! We got the Sizzlin' Butter Pecan Blondie. The blondie was nice & hot while the ice cream was still nice & cold on top when it came out. Their "All You Can Eat for $15.99" was quiet the disappointment. One of us started with shrimp; which was overbreaded, mushy inside, and a few didn't seem as fresh as the others. Another started with the ribletts; which did not look/taste like ribs, more like rehydrate beef jerky on the bone. The third started with their meal with an extremely over-salted and lukewarm French fries. It's sad to see this restaurant go downhill after all these years. My husband and I and my FIL and SIL ate at this Applebees on 11/29/25. After being brought our menus and while placing our drink order I requested bottled water but was informed by our server that Applebees doesn't carry bottled water even though it's on the menu. So I ordered a mocktail (which tasted like an orange smoothie.) Then when it came time to order, I ordered the broccoli chicken linguine and I was informed by our server that Applebees had no broccoli and didn't know when broccoli would be available. So I ordered something different but I really wondered why Applebees couldn't have been more upfront about their menu shortcomings. Cross those menu items off if you don't have them....I'm sure I'm not the first person to ask for them. When my FIL's salad was brought there was no dressing on the salad to be found anywhere. And neither was our server. My SIL's order can only be described as a massive rock covered in sauce on a bed of linguine that looked as though it had sat under the heat lamp a while. After we were finished eating we couldn't get our server to come back to clear the some of the dishes away. (We needed room on the table because we were presenting my FIL with a bday gift.) My SIL paid the check but hadn't gotten her receipt or her card back from our absentee server. When our server did come back she apologized by saying how busy it was. It wasn't the least bit busy.The restaurant wasn't even at half capacity. Most of the customers were at the bar. If these huge restaurant chains want to know why people are flocking to locally owned family restaurants with better food and service this is why. Because they suck. read more

Went to Applebee's on Friday, April 11th for dinner with my wife at the bar. She drinks Pinot Grigio or Riesling and they were out of both. I spoke with the manager and she said they needed to order some; seem more of an inconvenience that I had politely complained. No apology just that she needed to order some. I contacted Applebee's corporate phone number and spoke with women who gave me a case number and also said I would get a follow up phone call that week. That never happened... The purpose of this review is to document they were out of both kinds of wine, manager unapologetic, and corporate said someone would call me back and that never happened. I was not trying to get anything for free; just wanted to point out to them somebody dropped the ball. The two for $25 was also two for $26 on the menu; won't be going back. My husband and I stopped by for dinner on a Wednesday evening at the North Syracuse location. We were seated right away and were greeted by our server Amanda she was great !! I ordered a jalapeño burger. She asked me if I liked spice and I said yes, and she suggested maybe to get it on the side just in case . She was very pleasant & attentive, but not overly obtrusive. Applebee's has always been my family's go to for some cheap eats. When you think about it, their $2 for $22 menu def beats a fast food restaurant (think McDonald's or Burger King, etc). I find that the appetizers are best when you dine in. We had the boneless Buffalo wings and the spinach artichoke dip. The dip was ok and I really wish it was filled to the top because it was def a chilly autumn day and I love eating something warm to warm me up. The wings were slightly crispy on the outside and was decent. I had the bbq ribs with broccoli. Not sure if it's just me but I felt like I didn't get a lot for my side, just a few pieces of broccoli. Ribs were good and one of my go to dishes there. I also had the bourbon chicken and street (and yes, I ate them both haha) presentation was the best out of all the dishes but chicken was a bit bland and you could see a good amount of oil on the dish. My som had a classic burger and normally it would come with other toppings but my son is picky so it was pretty much just a cheeseburger. My other son got the chicken tenders. Both dishes were average, nothing wow about them. Our waiter was really good with checking in on us and also accommodated my request to be in the warmer section of the restaurant. This review is for the carside pickup, which was pretty convenient since we were on our way to my kid's practice. However, they did forget one of my kid's milks. Luckily we were just down the street so we were able to go back for it. If we were farther away, it wouldn't haven been worth the hassle to go back of course and my kid would have been without a drink & bummed. I tried the quesadilla burger and it was greasier than I would have liked. Came with 2 sides which was a plus though so was able to choose mozzarella sticks as one! Awesome experience here last week. My family ate here and my burger was a tad overdone, the manager made it right immediately. In a matter of minutes, I had a new perfectly cooked, delicious burger. My friend, wife, and I were in the North Syracuse location on 12/23. We were very disappointed in the taste of the food. My wife's steak was dry, her beans and mashed potatoes were cold. My food wasn't warm either, but doable. Also, we were not offered any refills on our sodas. Was not happy at all with the service. That location is usually better than that. Two issues, small to be sure. Applebee's will not prepare a medium rare or rare burger. I think the server may have taken issue when he asked me if I wanted "pink or no pink" and I said medium rare. (I ordered something else.) Also, when a store requires the employees to wear masks, those masks should be worn properly. Our server preferred to wear his below the nose. From start to finish this was the worst applebees experience I have ever endured. I had to ask my waitress at least 3 different times for lemon with my water (even though I asked for water and lemon to drink upfront.) My aunt and uncle waited nearly 15 minutes for the 2 waters they asked for, the waitress came to and from the table multiple times after they made the request. My aunt asked for a burger that had no pink, she was very explicit she wanted a well done burger. Her burger came rare, she had to send it back and have it totally remade. I ordered chicken tinders which was a very easy order, they came out burnt and inedible with very little fries. You'd think I ordered a kids meal looking at how small the portion I received was. My cousins chicken dinner was horrible, she did not eat it nor did she take it to go as it was so terrible. My uncles burger was not fixed to how he ordered it as well. Everything was horrific about the experience at this applebees. The food was gross and not good at all. the service from the waitress was awful. Auburn NY chef has to be new the steaks we had there last night the 22nd Sept were terrible tasted like they were boiled instead of grilled we order them 8 oz and came to us as 6 oz have to say for the past month the steak meals are not good at all * they need to learn to grill steaks medium rare is med rare... the potato should of had garlic in them but didn't taste any garlic in them.. broccoli was the only thing that was normal on the plate.. we ordered the wings and even those were not good look and tasted as if they were just put on a plate and the wing sauce was just poured over them it was not good... the service was ok but not great maybe it was the 5 pm but personally they need to go back to better restaurant food.... that is that on the restaurant.. read more

Was very disappointed. We went just before noon, not busy at all. We were a table of 4. My sister and I both ordered French Onion Soup and Chicken Caesar salads. The soup was delicious. But when our orders came out there was no chicken on the salads. The server said, no problem and took them back. Then it was easily 30 minutes before she returned with our Chicken Caesar salads, but at that point our other 2 guests were done with their meals and ready to leave. I have given this restaurant several chances but I have finally given up. I ordered 2 meals and a side order for delivery. I had too previous orders screwed up before from this restaurant This was my last order from this restaurant. I ordered a fish dinner and didn't get any tarter sauce. The coleslaw wasnt even coleslaw. It was shredded cabbage and carrots. They totally left out the order of onion rings and my order cost almost 50 dollars. If I could give 0 stars I would. this is NOT a family establishment. Slow service, rude waitress' and nasty costumers. First, the hostess asked us if we would like to sit at the bar with a 2 year old. Then we had to wait to be seated, at a dirty table. The waitress was extremely rude. (ie. MIL wanted a burger the waitress said "pink or no pink" MIL said "a little bit" where the waitress replied "pink or no pink".) We waited about 30 minutes to get drinks. And OVER and hour to get food. Honestly we didn't even get our food because we watched our waitress sit at a table and talk to two people for about 5/10 minutes. Then while we are talking amongst our selves the table the waitress was sitting at butted into our conversation. Where the one male proceeded to say smart remarks to a 60 year old woman because frankly she was complaining about his waitress friend. after smart remarks from both parties the male proceeds to tell my MIL "I will "F*** you up" then ran to the bar and got a manger. We decided to stop in for a quick meal 1/8 and it was absolutely awful. My partner got the quesadilla burger (no pink) and ended up puking not even 20 minutes later followed by an upset stomach for the rest of the day. My friend got a plain burger (no pink) and it was black. The patty was burnt so much it was inedible. I asked for the 4 cheese Mac and cheese with the honey chicken on the side. I had just gotten some dental work and the sweetness/crunchiness of the chicken would upset my teeth. When it came out, I politely said "I asked for the chicken on the side because I don't like the sweetness" they were polite as well about it and said they'd fix that. 5 minutes later, it came back out cold and they'd clearly picked the chicken off because there was still a whole piece on there. I ended up leaving the whole plate basically untouched because after 3 or 4 cold bites, my whole jaw and teeth were in incredible pain because of the honey sauce still all over the food. read more

What a difference from a terrible experience at a nearby restaurant. Walked in, was seated quickly.. Amber, our server, was right there to take our drink order. We got the 2 for &25... The salad was fresh, and larger than I expected... Our meals were timed perfectly.. I had the Bourbon chicken and blackened shrimp. It came with roasted red potatoes, on a bed of sauteed onions and mushrooms... My chicken was tender and very flavorful, the shrimp perfectly cooked... Applebees really is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get when you go there. The place is clean and set up casually. It's comfortable if a bit loud. The menu looks like it is full of variety but really has mostly chicken and pasta with steak dishes coming in second. Soft drinks and ice teas are huge and bottomless, a plus. I like that they have a light menu for people watching their weight or caloric intake for whatever reason. Unfortunately, their lighter fare is really sparse and portions are very small - which makes them lower in calories I suppose. Prices are average for this type of restaurant. Drinks, however,are a bit pricey and usually not very good. My sisters have sent back drinks many times because they were made wrong or poorly. I don't drink so my iced teas always live up to standards. lol. Portions look huge but that is somewhat of an illusion with shallow bowls, large plates with huge rims and baskets that make it look you're getting much more than you are. Still, on a good night, the food is really tasty and satisfying, The problem is, I never know when it is a good night to go there. I suppose it has to do with the cooks. I have ordered the same meal many times and it has been delicious and alternately been a disaster. Cold, wrong sides, much less food than usual, etc. I just never know until the food comes to my table! Service is hit and miss as well. Most of the time, it's really good. Sometimes, we will sit for 30 minutes waiting for someone to take our orders and then the waiter or waitress never returns for refills or to see if we want anything else. Usually it is not that busy to warrant that sort of poor service. Still, we like Applebees in North Syracuse and will continue to roll the dice and eat there. Some of my friends have given up and stopped going there but my family enjoys the meals more often than not. I wish everything from quality to portion size to service were more consistent. read more

I live pretty much to eat out. well this place makes me want to find another reason to live. I took my g/f there for Valentines day for a nice riblets dinner which she loves, espcially for the coleslaw. from the minute we walked in it was bad. It took about 5 minutes for anyone to even aknowledge us, and it wasnt even busy. half the tables were empty. we purposely went at 5 pm to make sure to avoid the crowd. we were seated and a while later gave our order. we both oedered same thing, riblet platter. she ordered french onion soup to start. she got her soup in a timely manner and the the wait began. after abou 20 minutes we got or food. IT WAS COLD. I couldn't believe it. after taking that long you would think it would be HOT. Anyway, long story short, (I know, too late for that) my g/f called them and they sent us 2 ten dollar vouchers. We went and used them last week. service was great. food was luke warm. sidenote: my g/f will nnever eat there again because they changed their coleslaw recipe. they added cilantro! totally ruined a good thing. The bad thing about the 2nd trip was that the manager knew about our first experience as we had to pick up the vouchers from him, and he didnt make sure our food was hot, or check on us to see if we had a better experience.
