Very good service and food .. will be back again. Bathrooms need an update but overall clean

I'll start by saying this was a 0/10 experience! Went here Saturday night at 8 PM. No wait time to be seated and the restaurant had a decent amount of people, but not full at all nor busy. Service was absolutely slow; we sat with menus for a good while before we even had our drink orders taken. We came here with the intentions to try the new Don Julio Poolio souvenir cup drinks that just released; but we weren't even originally given a menu card for them. We had to ask about them just to make sure the restaurant was even doing these new drinks. Once our waiter came back, after another short period of time, we went ahead and placed both drink and food orders because we had been waiting for far too long. We were basically almost done with our drinks by the time our food even arrived. We definitely waited entirely too long for our food, which made no sense because it truly was not busy in the restaurant. To eat: I ordered the Ultimate Trio. In my trio, I chose the chicken wonton tacos, barbecue riblets, and the fried shrimp. My original plate had to be sent back because (as I included in my photos), my chicken wonton tacos did not have any slaw on them at all ??? made no sense, so I asked for my entire plate to be remade. This meant another 10-15 mins of still no food for me. Overall, I'll just give my Ultimate Trio a 7/10 it was decent, but after such a long wait, I really couldn't enjoy it. I also got a side of onions rings (9/10) they were hot and fresh. To drink: I got the Melon Margarita flavor of the Don Julio Poolio (6/10) not strong at all and it really just tasted like a strawberry lemonade almost. I do like how we could keep the cup because they were really cute. To make matters worse, we already dealt with a long wait time for our food and drinks to come to the table; but as we were waiting for our debit cards to be returned to us after paying for our meals, a roach or water bug, whichever one, came running from under the table beside us. Ran right towards our feet under our table and then when we jumped up from the table because we were scared, it crawled out to the middle of the floor and our waiter just looked at it and carried on about his business ????? Like huh Complete 0/10. Coming to Applebee's for dinner was a huge mistake and the bug we saw was just the cherry on top to a bad dining experience. Our waiter had no intent of making matters right for us when it came to us having a long wait time for our food and drinks, nor did he care to even make anything right for us when it came to the bug crawling by us. I was in the area for an appointment and decided to stop by Applebee's. My first impression was wow it looks like they remodeled the entire place or Applebees in general. I haven't been to an Applebee's in about a year but this location looks amazing. The hostess greeted me with a big smile and our waiter was just as friendly and attentive. I ordered the burger and it did not disappoint. The patty was juicy packed with flavor and served hot like it came straight off the grill. Overall I had a great experience! read more

My mom and I moved to the neighborhood almost four years ago. We visited this particular location for the first time to celebrate my birthday today. The place was empty when we first visited. We usually get the 2 for $25. The four cheese Mac and cheese is my favorite. I chose to get the new Chicken Fettucciini. It was tasty and flavorful. read more

Terrible service. Actually, we were seated and never acknowledged. It's unfortunate that we came hungry. After being seated for 15+ minutes, we left because no one bothered to even get our drink order. I see why this place has two stars and we'll never come back. We had our toddler with us and she was more disappointed because she was hungry and stated that she wanted to eat. But at what point do you continue to wait for service or leave? My husband has been in the restaurant industry prior for years and said that they could've at least brought us water. I'd give them grace if they were busy but it wasn't. If you're looking for a quick bite or good service, do NOT come here. If you want Applebee's, pick another location. Don't spend your money where it's not wanted. read more

Five star **** I lost something important to me and the staff did their best to find it .... And guess what they found it !! While there were only 8-10 people (including us), the service was extremely slow. Order a salad and Prime Rib Dip, neither requiring any real cook time. Thirty five plus minutes later the food comes. The "Prime Rib" was way over cooked and beyond rubbery. I ate less than half as it was just terrible. Would have like a possible water refill, but the waitress seemed to hide in the kitchen unless she was bussing out orders. Someone came by and asked if everything was good and when I said no, her response wasn't what was wrong, but more along the line of "oh". Can't imagine how long it would take to be served if they were busy, but no worries, as I won't be going back to find out. read more

The wait was over two hours after we were seated , we were told there was one cook on staff.... Awful, our server Tyler made the experience much better by making us aware of the conditions in the kitchen, making sure we had drinks at all times, extremely apologetic and helpful. -189427/10 experience. Ask for Tyler if you come here but I don't recommend eating here read more

I'm never coming here again. The hostess was nice though the service was very slow. My friends and I went, hardly anyone was there and it took over 40 minutes for our food. which were all salads and bowls. The salad my friend had was horrible and not fresh at all, which we expected it to be if it took 40 minutes to prepare. Plus the pricing for extra chicken in the salad was ridiculous. With all the one star reviews left in this place you'd expect something to have changed by now but you guys don't even try at all. read more

I literally downloaded yelp just to leave a review on this place. The service was absolutely terrible. We walk in and the hostess has the worst attitude I've ever seen. I'm 9 months pregnant and my husband politely asks for a booth, she proceeds to not say anything at all, and walk us to a table that is surrounded by open booths. And my husband points to one and says "can we get one of those booths?" and she says "idk I guess you can sit there if you want" in the nastiest tone of voice and just walks away. My husband and I sit down and we're looking around and the other guests don't even have drinks or food yet. She was so rude she literally made us loose our appetite. Brought my son here last night for his 6th birthday! His birthday was ruined by Applebees, the staff being rude the food was undercooked I told them it was not cooked all the way they had an attitude brung my food back still not cooked. Not to mention we waited over 20 minutes for drinks and they were not busy. This was very disappointing to my 6 year old whose birthday was ruined. But even worse the second time my family and I sat there for 25+ minutes not getting served not even water while other people around us got served. Visited family in Norfolk. I'm from Nevada. Went to Applebees for dinner on 6-16-2025 aprox. 7 pm with a group of five. Was seated quickly and that was the best part of the visit. No silverware. Had to ask waitress as she came by to take our orders. Took awhile to get our food. Nothing spectacular about the cuisine. Wife ordered refillable riblets. Never happened. Waitress took an extended vacation away from our table. Greatly disappointed in our service. I actually had to go to the register and flag a different waitress down to get our ticket so we can get the heck out ASAP!!!! Bottom line, go elsewhere! read more

Ordered the 12oz ribeye(Medium temp) and it came raw so it's on the stove right now while the rest of my food gets cold ‍. I'm not sure what's going on with this Applebees but the service sucks. Me and my friend seat at our table for 20min until I asked for a supervisor. Everyone around us was served. The first this the manager said was, we will comp something for you. No thank you, we have no problem paying. I just believe it's poor quality and the food came out cold. Your see. I personally am not a fan of chain restaurants but many family and friends seem to love Applebee's because of their happy hour specials. Applebee's has now added a second Happy Hour from 4-6 pm and second time that starts at 9 pm I believe. My over all experience here is always so so. I mean affordable drinks and some quick finger food. What more do expect Applebee's never truly meets or exceeds my expectation with the food or the service. I consider it along the lines as going to Mc Donald's ‍. But I come because it seems to be a place we're some of my friends enjoy to get some fast food and a cocktail. Here is the kicker. The food never comes out fast. What you save in money you pay for in time. This particular restaurant is on the newer side. I always feel as if the staff is unorganized. I got a take out of Quesadilla Burger and Fiesta Lime Chicken. The burger was burnt. As for the Fiesta line chicken, the flavor was good, cheese wasn't melted enough for me, and the side of rice was dried and clump together. I am giving it a benefit of the doubt that this was due to being a take out order. The staff was kind and helpful. read more

This restaurant is near my home and it is convenient but the service is always poor. It is always crowded in here and the servers always forget things. I know it's probably not their fault but maybe they need more employees. The margaritas are good and the quesadillas and spinach dip is great. RAW CHICKEN...EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Complete disaster. We called in our order to go, and it was suppose to be ready by 7:40pm. Didn't get our food till 8:20pm, and the hostess didn't offer an apology or explanation at any point during our wait. She was dismissive at best...kept saying they were working on it. We should have left long before our food came out, but we were super hungry so we didn't. Huge mistake. At home, my son ate half of his Fiesta Lime Chicken before I saw it was still raw in the middle. Furious beyond belief!! I brought it back to the manager, and she started her "explanation" by telling me they were very busy when our order was being prepared. Lady, are you serious?! What a useless and shameful response. I couldn't care less how busy they were, and the restaurant wasn't even close to being full when we were there. It would have been smart to open with an apology, am I right?? This was a no-brainer. Serving raw or undercooked chicken is indefensible and unacceptable under ANY circumstance, so the manager should have apologized profusely without giving such a lame excuse. And offering a refund or some type of compensation instead of me having to ask for it would have been nice. Disappointing response from management all around. If food safety and friendly, competent service aren't important to you, then this place should be #1 on your list. read more

It's an Applebee's, so you know what to expect from the food. It's brand new and based on previous reviews, we expected some unevenness, especially on a jam packed Friday night. First it is an absolutely beautiful space and really clean (despite the crowd). When we walked in the hostess was a little overwhelmed, as they were on a wait. A server stepped right in to greet us and gave our name to the hostess who put it on the list. We were told a 15 minute wait, but were seated in less than 10. It looked like they were doing a good job spacing out the tables so as not to overseat their servers, so kudos. While our server was obviously inexperienced (didn't seem to know the menu very well), she was friendly and on top of her game most of the time. Apps were ordered at the table and it came out quickly. We had the soft pretzels with beer cheese and they were yummy. I remember having this app at another location and it was WAY too spicy. This one was perfect. I also had the wedge salad (because when don't I if it's on the menu?) - one snafu, it came without bacon. Our server, who made sure to frequently check on us throughout the meal, rectified the situation when it was pointed out to her, by bringing out bacon on a plate. Hubby's steak was cooked a perfect rare and was a decent cut of sirloin (not full of gristle or anything). Our server did ask if we needed drink refills, then forgot them, but figured it out quickly when checking on us and brought them out without us having to ask. One thing I was impressed with is that the "proprietor's" name is on the door, and someone obviously in management with that name tag ran some of our food out to us. If the owner really is in there deep in the trenches, then KUDOS to her! That is a great sign that this place will continue to improve as it works out the kinks. And this is an area that desperately needs decent restaurants! We'll be back. read more

I understand that it's a holiday and Covid... but we've literally have been sitting waiting for food for over an hour. Every 15/20 minutes they come out to tell us it's almost done. Update: They close in 30 minutes and half the adults have been fed. Three children and the pregnant woman are still waiting... food that has been served is cold to touch. Restaurant and the service here is typically subpar. I think they would hire anyone. However, I will say that if you come here and have Shane as your waiter he really sets the bar high. Five stars for him. Nothing wrong with this location - I like the fact they're open a little late. Food is okay and service is good, so I'm confident enough to recommend this Applebee's. I like their interior - it looks nice, is spacious and inviting. I've only sat at the bar, so I can at least say I enjoy the televisions. I can watch a sporting event while I dine. The only problem I had was with their food - one time I ordered soup and it came out cold. The staff apologized and got me a hot one immediately, so that worked out. Also, I recently ordered their bacon-topped mac and cheese for a side and it just wasn't very good. It tasted like it was microwaved - at the least it didn't seem fresh. Regardless, with Applebee's being a chain I shouldn't be surprised with microwaved food. But I like the quality of their service - that goes a long way for me. JV read more

This is a new location in Norfolk, on Little Creek Rd. It is a different vibe from the normal Applebee's. It seems like it should be called "Applebee's Express", or something to that nature. I went on a Saturday night with my daughter, about 8pm. We walked in and was seated immediately. We were sat at a 2 person booth next to the waiting area. I knew we were near the area, but I didn't realize we shared the same wall. Not long into being seated, were little kids banging on the other side of the wall, and peeking over, as the food came. Also, the booth seemed odd, because the seats were either too low, or the table was too high. Just felt weird, like I was reaching up while eating. They have the electronic tablets at the tables like BW's, you can order and pay from them. Although I didn't have to, because our server was on it, before I realized the tablet could order. Where he missed the mark, was not knowing what adult beverages were available. Because he looked puzzled by me asking for a Mojito, I just said, never mind, give me the Sangria. I normally love Sangria, but in this case, there was way too much grenadine in it. It almost taste like Kool Aid, it was so sweet. It was also super loud in here. I know its a sports bar, but it was just loud with chatter. The space is so small, and there's so many people, it is almost distracting in a way. Needless to say, I ordered an appetizer to share with my daughter, and we left. The appetizer combo wasn't too bad. Although, I asked the server if a certain flavor for the chicken was spicy/hot, and he said no. Now I know that people have different taste buds, but I am clearly sharing this app with my daughter... First time here and the last. I came here with my family to eat and the service was horrible. The waiter didn't bring plates for appetizer after I ask for four plates so we eat out the appetizer bowl using our hands for plates. I ordered a bbq whiskey burger with extra whiskey sauce and make sure it's well done. The burger didn't have any sauce on it at all and when I ask her can I get the extra sauce she said sure and never came back. This is the second time she ignored me. I was super annoyed so I reported it to the manager and just wanted to leave. The manager apologized but no actions was taken nor customer compensation to get my family to eat there again.
