I've been coming here for years and it's sad how the quality has disintegrated...The "new look" is much to be desired when the establishment needs to cleaned...I went with a friend and I was disappointed throughout the whole night...there was a wait to sit which wasn't bad but when people started to get seated before us and we were there first, that was my first problem. The host seemed to be overwhelmed and in need of assistance. When another server saw my frustration, we were finally seated! That is a shame because we were ready to walk out and eat somewhere else.. The server came after 10 minutes being seated and got our drinks and food orders...it took an additional 15 minutes to get our drinks which was water with lemon and strawberry lemonade. . While we were waiting on the food, we noticed the floor was dirty with sugar packets, straws, and other garbage that should have been swept up or vacuumed. That made me think of how their kitchen look! Smh.. The food came after quite some time, I would estimate about 20 minutes because I had already finished my drink and was trying to get a refill. My server was no where in sight. When I told her, she said okay but every time I saw her, my drink was no where to be seen. The food wasn't even hot! It was Luke warm and not the best quality. I've had the same order before and it tasted better before last night..my friend was asking for sour cream which didn't come until I asked to speak to a manager on duty. I informed him of the seating, the service and the quality of the food and he just said okay, asked a waiter to bring me my drink and within 2 minutes I got my refill after what seemed to be at least 45 minutes waiting on my server! I don't like wasting food but the food got cold quickly as I was eating so I couldn't finish it so I was looking for my server to get desert. She was a no show so I decided to ask for the bill instead...After about 20 minutes, we finally get the bill.The overall wait for the establishment was unacceptable! I was in there for close to 3 hours and that made no sense! It wasn't even that busy inside. All the tables were not being used...Some sections were empty so I don't understand why the service was so bad last night. I like to support a business and always give my honest opinion but this place has changed and not for the better. I would NOT recommend coming to eat here as this is not my first time being disappointed but this last visit was the last straw! Go somewhere else! Never have I experienced Applebee's on this level. We arrived and was seated it took our server 15 minutes to come and ask if she could start us off with drinks. Our waiter I forget her name it may have been Brittany or something close her hospitality was disgusting. We ordered and part of my party food came cold. We sent it back and after complaining the food came back out cold again. At this point we are ready to leave we ask for to go plates and our server never comes back and when my wife gets up to ask for to go plates again the server tells my wife well I'm finishing another order. Not a good experience and I usually try to give the benefit of the doubt to an obviously low staffed business. The food was cold , i asked for it to be remade and it was not it was brought out as if it were remade with no difference, everything i touched were just replaced. The drink was horrible, i ordered a perfect margarita, a margarita is probably one of the most basic drinks on the menu, it was overly citrusy, i was not trying to be a pain but if i cant enjoy the food i thought id at least enjoy the drinks so i sent that back as well. It came out no different, apparently the drinks were being made by a trainee which is okay but if someone complains i would hope that someone with more experience would have taken over. The manager/Supervisor was clearly occupied in her conversation and was no help to her staff just galavanting in deep conversation with another worker. Last night was my last time ordering food here for myself. The place is overehelmed by UberEats, Doordash orders so the service has gone down hill. Staff complain about tips being low, all while having an unfriendly disposition. I deliver for DoorDash and I have experienced orders purposely not being fulfilled & staff ignoring my presence & kying (no wonder their tips are low). The thing with me and chain restuarants is not only do I know better than to go late nights or for dates or busy times or try to treat as if its gonna be some happening hot spot, im a little afraid of what the food is gonna be like. I go with friends or family to be a good sport though. And ive always had my reservations being that this Applebees was in newark, people made it sound like it was gonna look like a post apocalyptic o.k coral.. My fiancee is just so in love with thier chicken, so I went. He too had his stories of it looking like a ghetto disco on friday nights, the bad attitudes,vagrant culture, and people who thought they were in a music video taping or something.Guess what? we went today a few minutes after noon for lunch Nice, clean, sports stuff /decor and applebees memorabilia every where. Margarita specials and fast service, decent food and no one got shot. There was actually a big family lunch right next to us for 2 beautiful kids who had just had thier christening. Horrible experience at the Newark Apple bees location. I placed an order online for 4 entress. I went to pick up the order and hd to wait about 15 minutes to pick up the order. When i got home the order was wrong the left out a side items and the presentation was disgusting. Worst service ever...... Me and my friends went there on a Saturday for late night happy hour, I always love Applebee happy hour special for long island ice tea and magaritas. We sat on a table next to the bar, and ordered a pitch of Sangria, whole pitch of ice, not much sangria, we had 4 people and only able to get 3 glasses out of the pitch, and it had no alchohol tast at all. it took the waitress forever to bring the sangaria and she was disappeared after that, walked by our table so many times and never stopped by, My bf had to walk to the bar to get drink himself, and ask for check and didn't show up til 15 minutes later, we left 1 cent for tip, this is first time I have done that in my life. smh read more

A BARTENDER THREATENED MY FIANCE. If 0 stars where a possible selection, it still wouldn't be a fair rating. I've been to this location a few time and everytime its the same horrible experience. I vowed to never go again however after getting out of a movie theater which is across the street me and my fiance decided to give it another chance. First it took 20 minute to get any type of acknowledgement from the bartender so I decided to ask if we could order which got ignored. So when she (Donna) finally came back I said it a little louder so she could hear me. So finally drinks came, no big deal. Now me and my fiance are having our own little conversation not even loud at all when suddenly the bartender chimes in our conversation. Wait so you didnt hear us ask for service but know your ears work to easedrop on our convo and butt in. So she gets engaged into our convo which was basically her and my fiance testing each other being sarcastic and catty which was very awkward. So they both get mad at each other and the girl walks off. Know my fiance starts talking to a guest who was also not happy with the service who was talking about it to her friend. Then the bartender Donna who is at the other side of the bar looks and hears their convo with her super sonar, and says "I will f**k that b**tch up, I dont give a f**k!". Wait what! So instead of us bringing it to another level we decide to bring it to the manager attention, we let him know about the situation and ask for the corporate number. Meanwhile when telling him, Donna keeps walking up to us from her side of the bar to listen to what was being said where he had to tell he in a stern manner to go to his office. Everytime we go here its nothing but ignorant people behind the bar and takes forever for even a glass of water when theres not even alot of people at the bar. So that coupled with this experience is it for us. Sadly everyone in the area knows because we went to the next closest one which is 2 miles away in Kerny and it was literally no place to park and was no seats at bar and a line to wait for a table at 11:00 pm. Okay okay where do I start ? Applebee's on Springfield Ave & Bergen. This location is conveniently across the street from the Newark City Plex Movie Theaters. Which is good for a dinner and a movie date. But the one thing about this place that isn't all that great which is why I gave it 1 star is only; the service. The people here aren't THAT rude but the animosity is there. Plus the way the waitresses takes the orders needs to be worked on. I shouldn't have entrées 5 minutes after my appetizers. The cooks and waitresses need to communicate a lot better. The supervisors are great people and will pay attention to your needs as a customer in this restaurant. The only issue is the service but the food is amazing. I cannot complain about the food no matter how many times I've been here. I only once had hair in a appetizer other than that no complaints on food. So I can only give it 1 star for satisfaction. If it was for the food only Id give it a cool 4 read more

And it was a good thing I was standing right in front of the Hostess because she literally whispered "Cheri party of 3" so low I would've missed my seating. And once seated we then waited another 15 mins for our server Aniya to finally introduce herself to us, take our order, come back and bring knives, napkins etc and we did not see her again until maybe another 40 mins or so - apparently the theme for the evening. Then our food comes 30 mins later and our drinks arrived 15- 20 mins mins AFTER our food arrived! They did not even serve my glass of water I asked for, I didn't even order any alcohol. I ordered a Blue Raspberry Lemonade and water but didn't t get that until I was almost done w my entire meal! Our server never came to check on us or ask if we needed anything not even once! Where should begin, I came here because of the new burgers commercial I had seen a month ago. I had a taste for a pub burger so I decided to see what they were working with. I am turned off by the quality ofbthe burgers at the fast food spots so I figured I'll spend a few extra bucks and get something better. I ordered a triple bacon cheeseburger medium of course (with a LIT) and it was good but they forgot the bacon on the inside it was busy so I'll let it slide this time. However they lose a star because of that. The burger was on par with a good pub burger so I was happy with the taste. I sat at the bar and received prompt service. The bartender did a good job making my drink so that was the icing on the cake. I have never had a real bad experience here and it is always clean. I am usually pissed off about the quality of service in this city but this isn't one of the places that ended up on my crap list. This place is horrible. They advertise they close at 12 midnight but we got turned away at 9pm after calling and being told they last sit at 10:45. The host and security guard was nasty and rude and kept saying that we spoke to a call center. The lobby was full of guest in a 8 x 5 section all 8 of us. And then when we order food to go we had to wait outside with a 6 month old in 35 degree weather at 9pm. And the to go place doesn't have drinks to go. Service is horrible. I ordered the 7 oz sirloin steak and was given the option to add a topping by the bartender who was taken my order. So I decided to get the shrimp and parmesan topping. When my order came to my surprise it was missing the shrimp parmesan cheese topping. I asked the server about my order and the bartender jumped in claiming I never asked for a topping. I was shocked. The steak was not cooked to temp. My next time going to this Applebee's I decided to order Carside to go. When I called they told me I had to come inside and place my order at the bar. Really nice restaurant. I like the music and the large TV screens but I go there for the food. I like that you can play games at the table for a price. I also like the fact that you can swipe your own gift card. At other restaurants the waiter will sometimes put a tip on your gift card when you already gave them a tip at service. The desserts are really good portions. I had the Fish & Chips with tarter sauce and Cole slaw. It was delicious! Yum :o) I also had the cherry lime lemonade because I'm staying away from soda. The price is reasonable and I plan to go back again. I did go back and added photos of the All Day Brunch burger. The ketchup bottle was empty, I had to ask for a new one The Crackerjack cheese cake which I had to go and a wonderful chocolate shake. All was so tasty!!!! read more

This franchise is probably one of the worst locations. My first grievance is the staff gave my dasher a completely different order than what I ordered through DoorDash. My second grievance is the staff hung up on me four times that night: twice when I was trying to confirm my order and twice when I was trying to advise I received the wrong order. My third grievance is after submitting a complaint through Guest Relations, nobody in the franchise contacted me about the incident until Guest Relations intervened. The time frame on this is two weeks. My fourth grievance is the female manager on duty who contacted me gave me the usual lines of "we're sorry this happened and we do care about your experience." When I pointed out their lack of contact for two weeks as their "care," the manager became defensive and wanted to end the call ASAP. She did not wait for my response and hung up. I am honestly not expecting anyone above the managers to contact me further regarding my experience on 06/16/22, but the poor quality check on orders, the unprofessional response of the staff, and the lack of customer service from the management should be a nice big red flag to steer clear of this franchise. read more

We came as a party of 11 and the servers were fighting over who was going to take us. After waiting 20mins for a table they give us a server who has only been working here for a few weeks. I ordered carside pick up for the first time due to my broken leg. I could be wrong but this is where you order online give the make and model of your car, pay online pull up in the assigned spot and the food is brought to your car. I did all of that. When I got to the restaurant they could not find my order using my name or my phone number or my order number that was provided to me in my email. I waited an extra 20 minutes while the manager looked for my order. It was a mistake on the restaurants part but then the manager was silent. I asked is someone bringing my food to the car? she said oh I guess I can have someone bring it out to you as if I didn't order car side pick up. I checked my bag to make sure everything was in the bag without opening each individual meal. Of course when I got home I was missing two sides I don't live close to the restaurant.
