I went to Applebee's expecting a quick, casual meal, and that's pretty much what I got--but nothing more. The atmosphere was decent and typical of the chain, but the experience overall felt a little underwhelming. Service was ok. My server looks as if she hasn't slept in days and seemed to be dragging herself. I was looking forward to having a least 1 drink but was told the bar was closed and it was only around 10:30PM which was disappointing One thing Applebee's does well is variety and affordability. They've got a big menu and deals like all-you-can-eat wings or combo specials, which is nice if you're on a budget. Overall, it's not terrible, but it's not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again. It's more of a "last resort" spot when you just want something quick and easy. read more

My friend and I had a wonderful dinner at the Newton Applebees recently. Our server was great, the restaurant, table, seats, everything was spotless. It was the greeter who really got our attention. He opened the door for us with a huge smile, and welcomed us in, like it was his own home. He was very friendly, chatting a little bit as he seated us. When we got up to leave he wasn't by the door, but in the adjacent isle. When He saw us heading toward the door he raced to get in front of us so he could open the door for us, then preceded to open the outside door as well. Again smiling, wishing us a fantastic evening. The food was bad. I ordered a kid's sized chicken Alfredo with a side of broccoli. It looked like noodles with canned chicken. There was no taste whatsoever. The drink was also watered down.I ordered curbside but ended up going in after it was well past the pick up time. The staff was friendly. A party of 4 we decided to try this location l after 10pm for the half price appetizer specials. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a gentleman who asked us how many was in our party. After we told him he said the host will be right with us. I'm not sure why he asked if someone else was going to come but she did and asked us how many in our party and sat us immediately. We sat for over 10 minutes with no one coming to greet us. I had to go talk to a manager before we could get service. We were putting on our coats to leave when Dominque walked over to us. She apologized as she didn't know she had our table. She was polite so we decided to stay. She recommended the tacos, we also had the honey bbq boneless wings, chicken quesadillas and Tipsy Reindeer made with Smirnoff Vodka. Dominique definitely saved the night with her quick and efficient service. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. I didn't care for the drink it was weak and a bit tart. The waiters and waitress don't seem to want to work after we were seated it took 15 minutes to come to our table just to place our drink orders. This place needs a whole revamp because even when I came back to talk to the general manager the next day she took 20 min only to have one of the employees to give me a gift card. This Applebees is the best one I been to by far. The hostess sat us quick. Our waitress Bobbi J. was so attentive. Came by frequent. Treated us with respect. My drink was always full. I didn't have to ask for another. That usually makes me happy. My kids ordered chicken tenders. They were happy. I ordered lunch special French onion soup and chicken Caesar salad. It filled me up. Going faster than a saunter is highly suggested for a waiter and perhaps ticket times under 40 minutes for two long islands would be wise. Went to place a ToGo Order. The host said I had to go back outside and walk around the restaurant to the side. When I get to the back, the lady says with an attitude (not towards me) we don't allow ToGo Orders here only online. I go back to the front, ask for the manager. The manager takes her time but comes up and says I'm not allowed to place a ToGo order in the store because it's a state mandate do to covid. That's a damn lie. The 2 appetizers for $10 is not a bad deal, but keep in mind they are samplers and will not fill you up. I wasn't that hungry so it was perfect for me. This AppleBees isn't horrible but its not great either. Our waiter was in training and made us nervous because he was so nervous. The woman training him was like a hawk,which didn't help the tension. We ordered the three cheese cavatapi with chicken, pretzel sticks, wonton tacos and siracha shrimp. The shrimp usually comes "smothered " in a siracha mayo. it was lacking the sauce and instead was heavily coated in this weird cajun seasoning. it was complete overkill and the spices tasted raw. The pasta was in need of more cheese sauce, but the wonton tacos and pretzel sticks were good. The staff was friendly, yet hesitant to accomodate us with a booth. The atmosphere is typical AppleBees neighborhood bar, tv's galore, full bar, just the norm. I hope Will (the server in training) continues and gains a bit more confidence as time goes on! read more
