Got the new ooey gooey cheeseburger came out burnt with no ooey gooey sent it back. They brought another one out. Wasn't burnt but still no ooey, gooey or cheese. The burger was good but don't put something on your menu and tell you that it's ooey gooey and there's no cheese underneath and the burger was stuck to the plate. I had to pry it off with a knife. My wife's chicken sandwich. We ordered fried chicken crispy chicken sandwich and got a grilled chicken sandwich so we had to send that back as well. I would not order the ooey gooey hamburger again until they actually put some cheese underneath it to dip the burger in cuz that's what they say it is supposed to be. read more

The staff when they are off work all hangout at a table directly next to the bar, which would be fine, if they didn't talk so loudly and carry on with staff that is still on the clock and sh*t talk staff they don't care for. It's very unprofessional that the store manager, who by the way is fully aware of this behavior and also sometimes joins in on it, allows this to go on. If the staff wants to hangout after work, they need to leave. A lot of chain restaurants have rules in place where staff cant drink there after a shift unless they change out of their uniform. The draft beer always tastes like soapy water. The Mount Pleasant Applebee's sucks. read more

Applebee's is one of the only chain restaurants that we choose to go to, they have have a good selection of different kinds of foods, my wife and I have completely different tastes and we both have favorites that we can order and be certain that we will be happy with our orders. read more

I ordered a chicken sandwich expecting a nice piece of chicken. What I got was a bunch of small chicken nuggets that looked like they were left overs from other meals. I did complain to the waitress who consulted the manager but, because I had eaten half the sandwich, no compensation was offered. This happened over a year ago and I have not been back nor do I intend to return. I hope the loss of my business was worth it. read more

The wait to be seated for us was actually pretty quick, but I heard the waitress say that we got the last table. I saw a lot of other people waiting outside after us for quite some time to be seated. This probably had to do with how slow everything came out. Even with another waitress taking our drink orders and helping out the service was still very slow. My husband was offered a beer that was supposedly on tap to be told that it wasn't after the fact. The peach tea is very floral tasting. Our server came by our table and said our food was up like 5 times. She kept saying the same thing to the tables around us. She seemed a little scattered, or maybe she was new. Finally got our food. My husband said the salmon wasn't bad. I personally was not a fan of the bone in wings. They were breaded and had a lot of fat instead of meat. read more

I don't know what the Pennsylvania liquor laws are for restaurants, and frankly I don't care. If I want to drink, I'm old enough to go buy alcohol at the state store or go to a bar by myself. That's not the point. The point is that apparently the server staff also does not know the liquor laws as whether or not I get denied or served alcohol changes with every visit. I have been served before when I was seated with my friends (not yet 21) as well as with my partner who is not yet 21. For reference I'm roughly a year older than everyone give or take but I am legally allowed to drink. What I can say from the handful of times I've been allowed to order alcohol is that their drinks are consistent and good. During winter I got their Tipsy Reindeer at this location a lot and it was excellent. One of the last times my partner and I went here I was told that because he isn't 21 I can't drink. Okay, fair enough. Then our waitress told me that I would have to be 25 if the person I was dining with was under 21. So, based on that, I gather that it doesn't really matter how old I am, because by that logic I could bring a 13 year old and get drunk and then drive home and it would be ""legal"" by Applebees standards. I tried once more in April when we went with my SIL and her boyfriend who is over 25, and although I'm sure it would have been allowed I did not want to ask everyone to pull out their ID just so I could order one drink. Our waitress said that if I wanted to I could go sit at the bar as if I was going to get up and leave my table. So, with all of this information out there, I want to say that Applebees should probably make it more apparent that 21+ can't drink when seated with under 21s and should probably make sure their staff doesn't let things like that slide because it really honest to God is insulting. You've got servers who are sticklers for the rules and then ones who don't check the whole table's IDs, it's a mess. It's not even like you go here for the food because let's face it, it's all microwaved. Ask any employee and they'll tell you. You go for the 1/2 off drinks. Basically, my whole point is that some consistency needs to be upheld in regards to the age limit for ordering alcohol. If it's a state thing, then whatever, I can wait another year. But if I can go to tons of restaurants in Pittsburgh and be allowed to order drinks when with my partner then it doesn't make sense to me. I am not sure why 21 years is good enough for some servers but not for others. It just does not make sense to me at all. read more

While Applebee's is seldom my first choice for a meal, there are times when it fits the bill perfectly. For example, when in the Allegheny Mountains in the middle of a snowstorm around 11:00 pm, its red and white awnings are actually a sight for sore eyes, much like seeing that St. Bernard with a cask of brandy around its neck bounding toward you when your sled breaks down. The few dozen other refugees around the bar and in the booths no doubt feel similarly. Their salads and burgers are decent, and my 14 year old devoured his Sirloin Steak (well done) like a hungry wolf. Neither the Baked Potato nor the Apple Sauce went to waste. So, no more apologies for stopping in allowed. Either admit that you like Applebee's, at least sometimes, or just don't go. Better yet, don't write the review, and no one will know you were there. Made the mistake of stopping here last night and the place was overrun with kids from a nearby Homecoming dance. That wasn't the problem. The kids were perfectly fine. The waitstaff were overwhelmed and totally confused. We ended up with a $91 dollar bill for 4 people and since they were so overbooked and understaffed the entire ordeal was a mess. The food was good, no complaints there. But there were items on the bill that were wrong. Two of us ordered the 2 apps for $10, one ordered the 3 apps for $13, and the other ordered and entree plus a regular app. Somehow we ended up with 2 full priced apps that should have been apart of the deals but were added on because they brought out the wrong items, and 2 extra drinks because the bar was in the weeds and likely confused. Everyone was confused and even though we were overcharged at least $20, we ended up paying the bill because none of us were sure how we got bamboozled until we got back home and went back over the bill. So many things were sent back and returned again incorrectly we felt like someone had done the quick change con on us. The electronic invoice they made us pay with was even more confusing because so many things had been taken off and added on with a higher price. By that time our kids were exhausted, my husband and I were also tired and exasperated, and our waiter was no where in sight. He had given us take home boxes that were so small that we had to break out pretzels in half to fit them in there. There were no containers for the cheese, and we ended up having to leave most of our orders behind. Against our better judgment and out of sheer desperation, we paid the tab and went home, dejectedly. I understand that this was mostly our own fault for not being more diligent, but when I go out to eat, I want to be treated right, not have to perform a dissertation on forensic accounting. It's a rarity for us to be able to go out and enjoy ourselves, and we felt horrible and somewhat guilty for letting ourselves be taken advantage of like that. Again, the food and drinks were good when we were able to get them. But to anyone else going there, please watch what you are getting and how much you're being charged for it. It was a very hollow feeling to realize we'd been ripped off. The waitstaff could definitely use some retraining. read more

I'm not usually a big fan of Applebees but when you're traveling and looking for a decent place to grab dinner it's not a bad choice. The food is pretty consistent at all Applebees locations and is pretty decent. I'm finding the service, however, to also be pretty consistent for all locations and it's not as good. The hostess was pretty accurate with her estimate of 15-20 minutes for a table but once we were seated - the service was extremely slow. To me, it appeared that the restaurant was under-staffed and that maybe the Saturday night crowd was bigger than they expected. Our waitress was very nice and professional but seemed to be running ragged. For food alone - I'd rate them as a "4"; for overall value - I'd also give them a "4"; but once you factor in the slow service - the best rating I can give them is a "3". And -- this is fairly consistent with the last few Applebees I've visited. read more

I hate this place. The wait for food was too long and the food wasn't even good. If you are vegetarian you shouldn't go here. There are very few choices on the menu that aren't meat. I was in the mood for pasta this evening but when I looked at the menu there were 3 choices but all had meat. I recommend to Applebee's to expand the menu more and try to keep up with orders. I ordered broccoli with my meal, but after a 45 minute wait I didn't get my broccoli with my meal and I was very upset. Also for the all you can eat deal one of my family members got the shrimp but only got 5 shrimp. With 10 minutes to get another plate of shrimp. I prefer other Applebee's locations to this one. However, anyone who has ever spent time out in Mt. Pleasant knows there are not many restaurant options. I find myself out this way quite a bit because my parents live near by. I usually find myself getting a burger or the Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad. They also have the 2 for $20, which is really a pretty good deal. You get two entrees and an appetizer for $20. Or, instead of an app, you can get two salads. But beware, the Caesar salad is much smaller in size than a regular garden salad. I learned this the last time I came here with my mom and got it. If we do go for the 2 for $20, I almost always go with the Fiesta Lime Chicken - yum! They also have several lunch specials during the week where you can mix and match small portions for $6.99 - $8.99. Overall, this restaurant is clean and I've never had a problem with the service. Will most likely be back since it is a convenient stop. read more

We came with a large group and they were notified of the group coming 24 hrs in advance they our service was horrible an hour into the visit tables were not seated and then once they were seated it took another hour to get someone to take their order! Apparently they only had four servers on duty! This was very disappointing to me cause like I said we told them we would be coming! read more

Applebee's was great when it first opened in Mt. Pleasant, but the service has really gone downhill. We stopped in yesterday during the Steeler football game and saw a menu saying draft beer and appetizers were 1/2 price during the game. After waiting longer then usual for our server to come and take our drink order, my husband showed him the menu and ordered a beer. I ordered a margarita at the same time. It took some time for him to bring the beer, but he apologized and said my drink would be ready soon. He had already taken our food order before my husband got his beer. So I sat and watched my husband drink his beer and the bar tender making a few drinks. Took a good while to get my drink and by then I had wished I just ordered water. I got a $9.50 glass of ice with just a smigdeon of maragarita in the glass. On top of that, the servers kept trying to give us other people's meals. We also ordered the pretzels with the beer cheese which were to be half off also. I have to say the food was very good, but we had sticker shock when we got our bill. Not a thing was half price, but we did get a $2.78 senior citizens discount. So a 2 for 20 meal turned into $50 with the drinks and appetizer being more then our entrees. We have been there before and saw people walk out because they weren't getting waited on. It's sad to me to see this restaurant go downhill as there aren't many nice ones in the area. I came in here after driving to Mount Pleasant for a doctor's appointment. We used to eat here on occasion and it was always very good. The service was always fast and friendly. I arrived at 3:45. There were two or three other tables and one person at the bar. Most of the waiters were standing around the bar talking and having fun. My waitress was nice and she was kind but she wasn't worried about me. It took her over 10 minutes to get my ice tea and then she didn't come back for like 15 more minutes. My tacos were delicious. I wanted to order two meals to go to take home for supper for my husband and son but she never came back to allow me to do that. When I was checking out with my card on the little table tablet she came over to see if I needed help to check out. If they were busy I could understand but they were not busy at all and the staff was just having a good all-time laughing and goofing off. read more

Applebee's is a difficult place to review. The food is only okay, but one really doesn't go to Applebee's expecting to be wowed with the food. 4 stars for value, 5 stars for service and 2 for food.
