Well is did not start out to well after I walked in. The hostess was at another table with other employees. She saw me waiting then kept talking and eventually came up to the desk. I decided to sit at the bar and service improved tight away. Had the Salmon, mashed potatoes and Broccoli. Asked the cook to over cook the broccoli and he did not disappoint. This Applebee's is always, always a hit or miss. Either it's served cold, old and overcooked. Today, it was a hit. I ordered the Bourbon Street chicken and andouille sausage penne and my mom had the classic broccoli chicken penne. Absolutely delicious. Presentation was beautiful and appetizing. Love chicken tortilla soup! The best. Thai shrimp salad is awesome. Just ate one scoop of ice cream. Fantastic. Now I have to run 20 miles to burn all calories. But the service is very slow. It's always about the "service," as if the servers don't have lives, and sometimes aren't on the top of their game.? People? Want great service guaranteed at a restaurant? Go to a Michelin-starred place. Otherwise, give your server a breakl and enjoy the food. Anyway: In the middle of a road trip, walked into this one, and Jennifer, behind the bar, was positively glowing with gladness at welcoming me. Efficient? Times two. Friendly and funny? Same. We stopped here on our way to Jackson. We were a group of 17.... and it was Mother's Day.... and they managed to get us seated (some at bar, some at high tops) within a few minutes. Plus 5! But that's where things went downhill. Service was extremely slow. I ordered a bacon burger with no fried, substitute Caesar salad. She brought me the burger (added cheese which cost more) and fries and a Caesar salad! I didn't want the fries! The burger was way over cooked and the bacon was over done and burnt in several places too. Make sure you check your receipt before paying because they added a $1.99 game fee to my friend's receipt, even though she never touched the console on the table. To make matters worse, the bathrooms were in horrible condition. Two of the women's stalls were unable to lock! How is that something they've allowed to happen?!? And they were filthy as heck!! After a long travel time was really hungry. This was one of the few places that was open late so we stopped in. Was a little leary after our other Applebee's experiences. We were sat immediately and it took a little bit for our server to get to us, but she was busy taking care of her other tables and helping the other servers. We chose to do the 2 for $ and got the artichoke dip. The down side was the appetizer arrived about 5 minutes ahead of our main course. Other than that, and despite how busy our waitress was, the food was good and the restrooms were wheelchair friendly. read more

After three days of driving, pulling a boat from Phoenix, AZ, we decided to stay overnight in Meridian, MS. There was an Applebees near our hotel so we decided it was time to give them another chance. I couldn't wait for a cold beer! I dropped my wife at at the front door to get a table while I parked my car & boat out in the back of the parking lot. When I walked in the door, a waitress with red braids sitting at a table with others pointed me toward my wife's seat. I sat down and we waited for 15 minutes with the staff sitting on their lazy asses just looking at us but never came over to bring us a water, take a drink order or anything. I entered the curbside pickup area to place an order. There was a person doing something at the register who looked up at me and did not say a word and kept on doing what she was doing, then walked away. After that, at least 3-4 employees passed by me and did not say one word. Finally the manager saw me standing there and asked if anyone had helped me, and I told him, no. He took my order and after a short wait, he brought my order out and I was on my way. I didn't notice until I got home that I was missing an order of fries. The food wasn't for me so I can't comment on the taste, but honestly, I normally like the taste of the food at Applebee's. Good food, bad service. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!! After driving 9 hours and checking into the hotel, we decided on what we knew was good food and service. I'm so disappointed in Applebee's in Meridian! Employees sitting down and bs'ing with other co-workers, ignoring tables and forgetting request. This was 5pm during the week. Only 5 tables occupied. Should have been a sign. I finally went to the bar to get a re-fill of tea since our server was busy sitting and chatting. The bartender was more attentive of us than our server. The food was ok but not Applebee's ok! The manager walked by to clear plates. I confirmed she was the manager and she apologized as it was shift change. Employees sitting in dining, chit chatting and complaining about the shift with on coming staff. Total disbelief. As a manager myself, I would have closed the doors, finished the tables that were sat and FIRED each and everyone one of them!!! (Other than the gal bartender, She was good). Our experience with this Applebee's on February 28 was worse than terrible. It first started with the hosts being incredibly rude because I did not have a mask on. I am a healthy person without need of a mask (they don't work anyway). We only wanted to walk 5 feet to the bar. I get it so I digress about the mask. I put a mask on to walk 5 feet to the bar. Sat at the bar for no less than 12 minutes before someone acknowledged our presence. While waiting for someone to show up, my sister went to the restroom. I noticed the floor all around was absolutely disgusting. Upon her return, she told me how disgusting the bathroom was, two stalls out of order and trash everywhere. We ordered two beers and an order of the pretzels and beer cheese dip. When the order arrived the cheese dip had been left in the microwave too long and it was crusted around the edge of the bowl. The pretzel bread sticks were shiny (clue of greasy). The cheese dip was more like a powdered cheese and water dip. So watery and thin. The pretzels were more like greasy breadsticks. Taste horrible! I will say the bartender was extremely kind and hospitable unlike the hosts. My maskless face was the least of this establishment's problem. Health department needs to pay a visit. Will NOT go back. I purchased the bourbon steak. It was supposed to come with mushrooms and onions. The steak was so tough I could not even cut it with a knife. There were no mushrooms at all. This had to be one of the worst food services I've ever had. The restaurant wasn't busy so they had no excuse. I went in with a party of 7. It took 15 mins for a person to ask for our drinks and order our food. Then we got our appetizers before our drinks. It took 40 mins for them to bring our drinks after our server took our order. Then it took another 35 mins for our food to come out. The restaurant was out of half of their menu. So after we ordered she came back about 20 mins after to say they didn't have half of our foods. Well, seating was fast but there was only 5 tables that had people seated. The wait person took our drink order and came back with wrong drink. We waited and waited as the wait person was seated talking with other employees about the weekend, children, friends, management, and other things. I tried to not want to listen, but it was right across from our table. We finally went to the bar to get the non-alcohol drink as the wait person saw us go and get it. Food was ok, but appeared to have been sitting waiting to be served because the wait person was still socializing. As food was delivered, wait person quickly left without asking us if everything was ok. I wanted to ask for dipping sauce but wait person vanished although reappeared to sit and check in with friends. But honestly, we wouldn't have gotten anything extra until the meal was done anyways as socializing was WAY more important than helping any of us.
