I visited Applebee's in Edwardsville/Glen Carbon, Illinois, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. My meal was going well until a party was seated behind us and lowered the window shade completely, which blocked the natural light at our table. I politely asked if the shade could be kept halfway down instead of all the way. One of the individuals, a male, said the sun was in his face, which I acknowledged, but I still suggested a reasonable compromise. Instead of responding respectfully, he called me out of my name and I retorted with a similar response. At that point, I told him that if the sun was that much of a problem, they could consider moving to another table. The waitress finally stepped in and suggested the party move. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of management involvement. No one came over to check on the situation or ask if everything was okay. Later, the manager came through and lowered all of the shades, stating the sun was bothering someone. The way it was handled felt dismissive and disrespectful, especially after one of their guests had already spoken to us in such an inappropriate way. A brief check-in from management or an effort to address the behavior would have gone a long way toward maintaining a respectful dining environment. Instead, it felt like the rude behavior from another guest was indirectly validated. I typically don't leave negative reviews because I understand that restaurants are busy environments and situations can happen. However, this was a situation where a simple moment of management awareness and professionalism could have prevented the experience from escalating. It may also be worth additional training for management on how to handle guest conflicts in a neutral way that does not appear biased, particularly toward the party that experienced the disrespectful behavior. What started as a perfectly fine meal ultimately turned into a very negative and uncomfortable experience. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that future guests at Applebee's in Edwardsville/Glen Carbon have a better experience. read more

Do not recommend eating here, you might get charged 3 times for one meal. We went to eat here on 1/10/26 around 1pm our meal was $30 and we left a tip on the card. Around midnight we got another charge to the card for the full price of our meal again, and it showed in our bank account that we had two $30 charges from here and we had been double charged from our meal. When I called about this the manager said that it appeared our waitress accidentally charged us our meal amount again instead of just the amount of our tip and that he would get ahold of his district manager and have it credited to our account by 1/13/26. I checked my account on 1/13/26 and now both of the $30 charges from 1/10/26 have went through my account AND there is a new charge for ANOTHER $30 in our account from here. When I called again I was told that on their end it shows that it should've been credited back to my account and that there was nothing they could do besides give us a free food voucher. I have now been charged $60 over what my meal cost and am having to deal with the fraud team to get a dispute made with my bank to try and get my money back. read more

I was getting my truck serviced at Walmart and decided to get lunch since it was going to take a while. I haven't been to this Applebees in 3-4 years because of a couple of bad experiences but decided to give it a try since I had time to kill. I have to say it was much better than our last couple of experiences, the food came out fairly quick and was very good. The service was okay but not great, my waitress asked if I needed anything when she delivered the food and proceeded to take care of another tables drink's before she returned with the condiments I requested, by then I had eaten half of my meal. My daughter and I visited the Glen Carbon Applebee's this evening. My daughter needed to "carb up" before a cross country meet tomorrow, and I am way past eating pasta every week, so we settled on Applebee's. The restaurant was somewhat busy but not too bad. It's Applebee's, so we all know how the restaurant is decorated. The store was clean and appeared well kept. We were seated fairly quickly and were immediately greeted by our server, Madison. Madison was very upbeat and friendly. Our drinks came quickly. My daughter ordered boneless Chicken wings with the hottest sauce and the Four Cheese Mac and Cheese With Honey Pepper Chicken Tenders. I ordered the Chicken Wanton Tacos as an appetizer and Bourbon Street Mushroom Swiss Burger. Our appetizers came in in a reasonable amount of time. The Wanton Tacos were fresh and tasted great. My daughter enjoyed the boneless wings. Our main dishes arrived and looked perfect. About 10 years ago, I had sworn off Applebee's. We had a long run of horrible service and bad food. This visit is making me a fan again. Th burger was awesome, maybe the best burger I've ever had from Applebee's. The burger was cooked perfectly, the onions, mushrooms and swiss cheese gave the burger TONS of flavor. The fries were hot and properly seasoned. My daughter, also, enjoyed her pasta. Madison checked on us several times and was super awesome! The only drawback is the price. After tip, $73.52. seems a little high, but I guess this is the world we live in. read more

I met a friend here for weekday lunch. My friend had one of the "under 550 cal" lunches: Dijon chicken & Portobellos, with steamed herb potatoes and veggies. For a low-cal dish, it looked and smelled pretty good. I had the Reuben sandwich, which had nicely toasted bread and plenty of meat. The only good thing about this visit was a good server Stacie W. I hadn't been there in two years because of the quality of their food. Now I have started WW, and knew they used to be connected to them, showing points and such, not anymore. I ordered a sirloin steak (5 points by the way} and it sure didn't look like any piece of meat that I have seen. It was gray and gross, reminded me of cubed steak. It was tough and just nasty. The lettuce in the salad had spots of brown lettuce in it. Applebee's has dropped the quality of all their food to save money I would guess, but if you want to good, healthy food, this is the wrong place. My wife and I visited on Friday night We were greeted by the hosts there were multiple hosts but seemed to be some confusion on where to seat us. I have mentioned in other posts that more people with a negative review or complaint tend to post more often than people with positive reviews. That being said I would like to post a review for this restaurant. My wife and I are on vacation and the two of us along with my son and his wife decided to try Applebees while still being under the new normal with this pandemic. We thought it might be safe. I was impressed with the social distancing that they are practicing by blocking out every other table and the spacing that created. The sanitation procedures they were using was to spray a generous amount of disinfectant and let it stand for several minutes giving it a good amount of dwell time necessary for Covid. Then come back and thoroughly wipe down the tables and chairs with a cleaner. A definite effort to disinfect and clean the area. Staff and most of the customers were wearing masks as a courtesy to others which I appreciated. The food was very good and the atmosphere helped ease the anxiety of the new normal in this pandemic. This place was very excellent, not too expensive or cheap. Applebee's did a wonderful job on their ribs. Needed a little bit more sauce into the flavoring but, the dish was just right. Nothing makes up for experience. Was there last night and the waitress, while very friendly, was poorly trained. She disappeared for long periods. The food was good, not spectacular. We were seated next to the waitress station and the managers spent a lot of time there apparently correcting mistakes. Their frustrations were evident by their gruffness and facial expressions. It seems that they forget that people can actually see them. The table next to us was not cleared for over 20 minutes, not until this large group came in. After we were finally done because of the time gap between appetizers and entrees, we had to request our bill after she returned from another 15 minute departure, then she took my credit card and bill and instead of taking two steps to process it, she proceeded to take the order for a table of 15 on so before she processed. She was at that for over ten minutes before I asked if someone else could process our order. The young man was very courteous and took it from her and did so right away. So after we finished eating, it took over 30 minutes for someone to process our payment. Not happy at all. I would like to blame it on the waitress, but I know it's a training issue. Why else would there be so many problems for the management to correct. The manager literally had to rekey and adjust bills on six orders before we got our food. Ironically, after we were ready for our bill, we never saw the manager again, I guess she went to the other side of the restaurant to correct things. read more

Just left there on New Year's Day, absolutely horrible experience at the bar! I ordered a simple Makers Mark Manhattan from the manager, who told the bartender to make a Makers Manhattan, after waiting for a bit for him to make the drink, which was SHAKEN, he hands me a "Manhattan" which was actually an Old Fashion. I told the bartender if I could get a Manhattan instead of an Old Fashion. He apologized and said he would make it. He then proceeds to make my new drink, which again was SHAKEN. He asked if I wanted bitters in the drink, I said of course. He hands me the new drink and I try it which tasted absolutely horrible. Way to much bitters, NO SWEET VERMOUTH, and bubbly from being shaken. I did not realize one of the most basic and common cocktails could not be made after two attempts. Maybe it was a lack of training on the company's fault but I will certainly not be back! All I wanted was a basic cocktail and steak. Dropped some cash on the bar to cover the drink and tip, walked out and ended up going to Jack n the Box across the street and making my own drink at home. We are casual visitors to Applebee's (meaning we don't go all that often) but after last night that may change. The server, a very enthusiastic young man name "Tom", was super-attentive to our needs and very helpful. We used his suggestion to get the two for $20 and were glad we did. The chips for the appetizer (spinach and artichoke dip) were awesome. Thin, hot out of the fryer, crispy, and done just right. And it was huge. The wife ordered a salad with chicken and I got the riblets basket. When the food arrived, the plate in front of me contained the better, but more expensive, half rack of ribs plate. I pointed this out to Tom and he said "if you want it, you can have it for the same price or I'll get you the correct order." Naturally, I kept it! The wife also ordered a specialty item that was no longer on the menu but they willingly made it for her anyway. When I got ready to leave, I asked Tom for a to-go cup for my soft drink which was almost a full glass. He brought me a to-go cup with a fresh soft drink already in it. We stopped in for dinner last night and sat at the bar area because it was pretty empty. We got the appetizer and two entree deal for $20. The bartender was nice and attentive during the meal. Just for fun, I ordered a $1 Jello Shot and it was really more Jello than alcohol. We had the spinach and artichoke dip to start and it was pretty yummy. Took 5+ minutes to be greeted at my table. I ordered our meal and a mixed drink at that time. My drink had yet to be delivered when my food arrived. At that point I told the waitress I still did not receive my drink and to cancel the order. Both managers were visible at or near the kitchen entrance but never attending to guests. I had to leave abruptly during my meal. When I made the waitress aware of my rush she quickly did bring my check but disappeared for 5+ minutes. There was a "table game" charge on my bill which she was able to quickly remove once she came back. But again no manager came by to apologize for the chargers drink issue. Also being a father I find it very hard to change my 2 year old sons diaper in the car since there is not a place to change in the men's restroom. I always love coming to Applebee's. For the most part, service is great and the food is tasty. However, on my last visit to this location, my boyfriend and I both got burgers. When the waitress brought us our burgers, she failed to remember which one was which and asked "which one of us had the one with white cheese". I understand most people forget things sometimes, so it wasn't a big deal. I just wish that the servers would be trained a little more about what was on the menu. read more
