My husband came home so excited about the OM Cheese Burger, and we planned our night around it. Unfortunately, the excitement died a very quick, cheesy death. Our waiter was clearly triple-sat, which isn't his fault--but it resulted in a very long wait just to get drinks and an appetizer. After 30 minutes, our cheese sticks finally arrived... stone cold. Not "warm-ish." Cold. The cheese didn't stretch--it snapped. That should've been our warning sign. Then came the OM Cheese Burger. I ordered it medium. What I received tasted like it had been cooked directly on a charcoal briquette. Burnt. Bitter. Coal-adjacent. The cheese was gooey but somehow not hot, and the cheese sauce--served on a skillet, mind you--was cold. Cold cheese sauce on a skillet is honestly impressive in the worst way. The burger lacked flavor and was just... bad, you guys. I'm genuinely sorry to say it. The riblets were burnt beyond recognition. Imagine tough little pieces of coal desperately trying to pass as meat, smothered in BBQ sauce that also tasted burnt. The four-cheese mac and cheese was awful, which feels like a crime. There was even bacon in it--HOW do you mess up mac and cheese with bacon? My daughter ordered the grilled cheeseburger with waffle fries, and while it was edible, it definitely didn't save the meal or justify the experience. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing Applebee's visits we've had. Long waits, cold food, burnt food, and flavors that just missed the mark entirely. Went a few weeks ago to the Douglasville location for a dinner pick up at 6PM on a Friday night. I had heard advertisements about new offerings on the menu and we decided to give it a try again. Not going to write a lengthy review so here's the gist: The restaurant smelled of old mop water and stale air when I walked in and the hostess was not very welcoming. My Order was ready within 10 minutes so with me arriving on time that was within reason. Arrived home and the portions were small and the food did not look anything like the photos with the ingredients being sparse. I really wanted to give them a chance despite the low score. Came in on Father's Day. Got seated very quickly. The hostess "Anna from Atlanta" was funny and sweet. Our waiter Bobby, very soft spoken and sweet. My daughter received her food first. Kids chicken Alfredo and a strawberry and yogurt. She enjoyed it. My fiancée and I both had the all you can eat. I grabbed the riblets and fries and he had the shrimp and fries. I mean how can you mess up shrimp and fries right? So they were ok. Now as far as the riblets, they had a weird burnt taste. The riblets you can tell weren't burnt themselves but tasted more as if the grill they were cooking on was burnt. The cocktail sauce taste as if it was spoiled or definitely been left sitting out for at least a day or two. Lastly the ambiance was nice, typical Applebee's. Now I will say even though we got seated quickly, they must of only had one person cooking because it took almost an hour just to get our food. I don't know who is in charge of this location, or who the management staff is. Whoever is in charge needs to hire a lot more staff who are willing to work their designated shift. We arrived on a Sunday evening. I was excited to see a few cars in the parking lot because I took that to mean that there would be no wait. I was sorely mistaken. Upon entering the restaurant, there were very few customers, and a restaurant full of empty tables. However, the host informed us that there would be a 20 minute wait. We quickly assessed that there had to be a lack of staff because there were plenty of empty tables. As we waited, the host informed us that there was only ONE server for the entire restaurant! We saw customers come in, wait a few minutes, and leave when they saw the lack of staff. Yes, this Applebee's lost a lot of potential business from what I could see because of a severe lack of staff. Just as we made a decision to go to another restaurant, the host told us that our table was ready. Our table was not ready because the host cleaned the table as we stood and watched him put the condiments back in the container on the table, and watched him wipe the table with his shirt sleeve. By the time we were seated, a second server was added to the shift, and he was our server. Our server provided great service. We placed our order, and received our food in about 30 minutes. Our food and drinks were good. Despite the lack of staff, our experience was ok. However, if management doesn't pull it together to fix their staffing issue, I don't see this location lasting for too much longer. read more

Went for dinner last night. The food isn't as good as I expected but wasn't completely terrible. I'm my opinion, Applebee's is now just a go to spot for appetizers and maybe drinks if you like kool-aid . I didn't eat most of my salad and the manager was more than accommodating and understanding. Our server was new, but still gave us good service. She was new but I would love if she wrote things down to avoid forgetting. Service was not the problem. It was the food. The baby back ribs were dry and mostly bones. Also ordered The four cheese Mac with the honey pepper chicken tenders. The chicken tenders were great, the pasta was incredibly terrible and unseasoned. The strawberry balsamic chicken salad was too tart for me. I also ordered the new Tipsy Shark margaritas. It was sweet and wasn't strong at all. It reminded me of good Kool-Aid. Wouldn't get it again but can't complain because it was only $7. However, we really enjoyed the appetizer platter that came with spinach dip, boneless wings, cheese sticks and quesadillas. This Applebee's is horrible. My husband, my son and I went to this location only because the Thornton Rd location is typically packed. This one was very slow. 3 tables (only 1 in our servers section when we showed up), about 3 bar guests, 2 servers and a bartender. Other careless employees wondering around. We stood waiting to be greeted for about 2 minutes, finally the bartender came to greet us and led us to our table which we then stood there while I'll table was being wiped by the bartender. The whole time, our server was sitting a booth and a table away on a tablet, chilling with her friends. We sat... While watching her sit there, we waited 10 minutes for her to actually stand up and acknowledge us. At this point we knew what we wanted. Her name was Kendra. Kendra took our orders, and left the table. We finally got some waters then waited for our food. After about 20 min, another server walks by and says, "Kendra, your food is in the window". Kendra then sits there for another minute goes to the back for about 2, then comes out with our food. Our fries were cold but everything else came out Luke warm. Aside from my son's quesadilla, that was the only hot item. We usually don't send things back so we just asked for the check upon the arrival of our food then we ate. Food was good. Service was lacking, she clearly didn't care about her job. Management was hardly ever on the floor and when she did come out, she clearly didn't care that her employee was sitting down on a tablet with her friends while she had guests.. I'm a FOH manager at a restaurant in Colony Square with years of experience serving and bartending... my husband is a bartender at a restaurant in Buckhead with years serving and bartending in this industry. She easily could have received a higher ticket plus a 25%-35% tip from us. If the service was above and beyond we would have tipped her the bill. (Tip the same amount as the total) but instead she received $5 from us. I wanted to leave her $10 because I'm too nice but my husband reminded me that we're paying for service and that of which we really didn't receive. We work for nice restaurants but like to eat at Applebee's and show love to the people in these type of restaurants because most people don't tip well in these environments so we try to be the blessing for people. But today, we couldn't. This Applebees needs to close, it's a waste of space and management needs to do a better job at training the service staff to put their guests first. read more

His reward was to go to Applebees we entered there were easily 40 tables open we were told we could sit by the bar after waiting 30 minutes then told he couldn't serve us. So we went back to waiting till a manager sat us. We waited another 20 minutes . There were three servers a manager a bartender and other staff there. We were ignored. After 20 minutes we talked to the server serving the next table she asked who sat us, she was pulsed the manager did that . We left and are enjoying a. SLOW!!! Came in on a Sunday and the hostess should've given me the indication to go ahead and leave. He awkwardly greeted us and had a blank state for most of the interaction. He asked where we wanted to be seated and then sat us in the opposite of that. We were initially served by Heidi who is also the bartender she was pleasant and friendly but obviously in a rush for an impatiently waiting filled bar (NO ONE had drinks). Then another server came to our table and took our food order. The drinks we ordered with Heidi didn't arrive until 25 minutes after being seated. I ordered the shark bowl which was sweet but yummy. So if you want a strong drink avoid this one hut if you're a sweet cocktail person give it a go! After another 10 minute wait and still no food we closed out our tab and left. I called the manager over to make her aware of my complaints and she graciously apologized while stating how understaffed they were. We won't be returning. We got a gift card for Apple bees and were excited to come back as we hadn't been in a long time. Man we're we wrong! My husband got the "Breakfast burger" missing bacon.... loaded potatoes for his side were also missing bacon- both of which the server said neither cane with bacon (wrong)! My sons kids meal (Chicken taco) was missing lettuce and tomato and again when we asked the server where it was he said it didn't come with it- wrong again. My baked potato was cold, steak was good for a sirloin but to top it off (sirloin comes with 2 sides) I ordered soup as a side and was up charged $4.49 for soup without warning!!! Oh and they just substituted fires with it without asking (so naked potato and fries made sense to them??). The server was nice but downright sucked. I haven't been to Applebee's in over a year, I will give them a try again, even though my last several experiences have all been terrible. Ugh! Why do I even try with this place any more. I am currently sitting in the car side to go parking space waiting for my order that was supposed to be ready 15 minutes ago. I called inside the store a little over five minutes ago. I bet I have enough time to write this review and I will still have to walk inside the restaurant and check on my food. The sad thing is, this exact same scenario happened to me over a year ago. I called the manager and spent plenty of time complaining about it to which they were extremely kind. It looks like they still have not found a solution to their terrible service. Why exactly is there an app to order car side if they never ever deliver it car side without a person having to call or walk in the restaurant? Last time I placed an order to go, the food was terrible and overcooked and was over 30 minutes late. I actually had to call the store multiple times and finally walk in to get my order. When I walked in the restaurant I had to wait over 20 minutes to get my food after already waiting in my car more than 30 minutes. I placed my order through the app this time and was told it would be ready at 5:45. It is currently 605 and after calling 10 minutes ago it looks like I'm going to have to walk in the store again. I apologize for writing a review that seems to be the same rambling over and over, but it seems like that's the way it goes with this Applebee's. Terrible service, rinse. Repeat. We have tried to eat here 3 times in the past 2 months. Each time the wait time was well over 45 minutes; it ain't that good. However, tonight looked promising; not many cars in the parking lot, and only 2 parties waiting ahead of us. We were told at 8:53pm that it would be 10 to 15 minutes. At 9:35pm we decided to walk out after the manager told us his servers were capable of working more than 1 table at a time. That was clearly not the case in the almost 45 minutes that we sat and observed the activity. There were more people ordering take out than eating in. Guess this is the new normal along with higher hourly wages that give servers no incentive to hustle at all. T.I.P.S. (To Insure Prompt Service). This was by far the worst Applebees experience I have ever had . I took over 10 mins to be greeted by the Host . Wasn't even greeted no hello or anything . Was sat at a dirty booth and ran off before I could ask for a booster seat . It then took another 10 minutes to be greeted by server . I ordered a sweet tea and it was HOT . Like to the touch as in you knew it was hot before you gave it to me . I ordered two appetizers the first one was the new chicken fries the fries was old and cold , no ranch on them or on the side , I had to ask multiple times . For my daughter I ordered chicken tenders and applesauce they brought fries instead which was fine . But my entree was the four cheese pasta with chicken tenders . I couldn't even finish this the pasta was cold as well as the breadstick and sauce was watery . Didn't receive my order of mozzarella sticks until after the meal was complete. I hated the whole experience. I don't even write reviews but I had to because this was absolutely HORRIBLE. The waiter Darnell was cool . They had him working in multiple sections and in the kitchen. We waited to be seated while 3 employees were sitting around the bar looking at a phone laughing, they made eye contact with us at least 3 times while we stood there. The food came and my chicken was burnt, my kids chicken tenders had no chicken in them. We sent the food back, 2nd order was slightly better (looked like nuggets rather than fingers). Server disappeared for well over 30 minutes while we waited for barbecue sauce, he finally comes out of the bathroom laughing, there were no employees on the floor they were all hanging out in the kitchen.
