Service sucked. It took forever to get water food a box for left overs and pay the bill. Each of those listed took anywhere from 5 to 15 mins to get done. Also one meal was completely the wrong item. They also make you pay with a stupid computer devise on the table. The server who was the main problem told me we had to use the thing. So she ran my card and added a tip bigger than 20%. Being a seasoned Road Warrior Applebee's is one of my goto's when traveling since the food is always consistent and always good. This visit I was in the mood for something quick and healthy since I had been traveling all day. On this visit I went simple, I had a steak and some grilled veggies. The service was quick, my server was great and I was in and out in less than 45 minutes. My steak was cooked perfectly, and the veggies were fresh, grilled well as they weren't burnt or overcooked and my meal was less than 600 calories. Just what I needed. Some of the worst service in Crawfordsville. Unfortunately who you get as a server makes a big difference. On our recent visit we waited over 15 minutes for our server to come to the table and then another 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We ordered the two meals for $25 deal. I got the sirloin. I asked what their medium was like and she shrugged her shoulders and said "I don't know". Another server told me it was slightly pink in the middle. When steak arrived it was bloody. The $1 Margarita was offered to us also. I asked the flavors. Again our server had no idea even though this is a company special. Her answer was " it comes in a mug. Does that help?" The Happy Hour appetizer menu is nice and I have enjoyed it on other visits. However since service is key to my dining experience I do not appreciate this particular store. The Food is nice because it does take a while for the food to get but other than that it is a good place to get food at.

First of all the waitress name Ashley is very rude. Never smiles very short and hasty. She is so rude to customers. I have heard it from a lot of others not just me. She bellows at other workers and just plain rude. If she doesn't like working with others and customers maybe she should find a job where she doesn't have to do customer service she straight up lacks the skill for it. We eat at the Crawfordsville location at least twice a week and she is never nice. They seriously need to find someone to take her spot. Her being rude to customers isn't right. We come in there and spend our money and that's not how I want to be treated when I take my family out and spend almost 125.00 on a meal ticket. We always leave a 30 percent tip. I come here once in a while with my girlfriends to escape family, but one of the bartenders makes it impossible to have conversations with my friends. She has a couple piercings, she talks about her kids a lot, and gets into uncomfortable detail about how her manager trusts her so she gets away with everything. Both my friend and I found it very awkward. I wish she'd just get drinks instead of engaging on conversations we don't want to include her in, especially since other people are obviously annoyed with us when she takes a long time to serve them. Obviously it's not an upscale place but my teenage daughter who is also a server said that that server gave her an attitude when she asked for her card back. I find it very immature when someone is easily provoked but they're not socially aware enough to know when they're annoying someone else. I usually see the manager around so hopefully he's on to her, and she's not getting away with everything she decided to brag about. Chicken wings have long been mysterious to me. At Applebee's, they're a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. First of all, "wings" have always included legs along with wings (insofar as I can tell). Then, there's the ever-present question of what happens to the rest of the chicken. But strangest of all, there's the question of how they make them boneless. What a marvel of genetic engineering -- to make chickens with plump wings (and legs?) that don't have any bones! It's amazing really, but also somewhat disconcerting. I mean, do these chickens have any bones? Or is it just the wings and legs that are boneless? Oh, and the fact that they somehow make wings and legs with all white meat, even though these are the quintessential dark meat parts of the bird! Someone once told me that dark meat comes from the muscles that get a lot of active use; white meat muscles are largely sedentary. Well, I guess it makes sense that muscles in the boneless parts of the body wouldn't get a lot of use. Mystery solved. Still, I prefer dark meat. And bones in my meat remind me that it's the real thing. And so wings that are legs, that are boneless and white ... well, they're called "wings", but there's really nothing winglike about them. Why not call them "Mini-Chicken Tenders" and be done with it? (But really, what would we do with miniature chickens anyway?!) Oh, but this Applebee's has decent beer, at least for C-ville. For a college town, albeit a small college, there are very few places to sit down and eat. In Crawfordsville, this is one of them. My second son wanted a non-fast food hamburger. He is too young to go in and get a bar burger (or so I thought), so we ended up at Applebee's. We walk in, they ask if he is 18 years old. He is, so they seat us right away in the bar area. Later another couple came in, and they had to be at least 21 to sit right next to us. I have lived my whole life in Indiana, I still do not understand the alcohol "blue" laws. Something tells me I never will. Anyway, it is an Applebee's. I thought the service was prompt. They kept the iced tea glasses full and the table cleared. The bathroom was clean. I was pretty underwhelmed with Applebee's. When we were seated it took probably 10 minutes for us to order something to drink, which was water, and another 5 minutes after that to get us our water. As far as the food, they offer very few options that are gluten or dairy free. It was hard to find something for my brother to eat. I ordered the macaroni and cheese with chicken and expected, for 12.49, more than a somewhat bland sauce and 3 tiny breaded chicken strips no larger than my pinky. If you have the option to dine somewhere, do not come here. Their entrees may be advertised as "low calorie," but that has less to do with the fact that the food is healthy and more to do with the fact that the portions are atrociously small. read more

Yes it's a chain but Applebee's seems to do it better now. I wasn't always a fan but something happened in the last few years. The customer, menu, quality of food, and quality of drinks have greatly improved. I travel 48 weeks a year around the country and they are always a safe consistent choice. I am not big on these types of chain restaurants. That said, the food tastes pretty good. Historically I would say the service is average. I generally tip 15-20% but only because my daughter worked as a waitress before and I recognize their wages are low. The green bean app is good and the Thai salad is also. Peppercorn steak is pretty good too. Their oriental chicken salad is my fav but is also like a million calories so I have shied off it lately. read more
