Stopped in for dinner. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with Broccoli and hubs had the salmon with Broccoli green beans and salad . Food was Meh . Noodles weren't great . Chicken had a nice char . It was actually good. My Salad had nothing but tiny dices of what must have been tomatoes and cheese with croutons. Hubs asked for salmon with butter and lemon .., it came with Cajun seasoning anyway after specifically asking for it to not have Cajun seasonings. We had to ask 3 times for water. Don't ask about the drink I ordered . Don't ask. I eventually gave up . Ordered coffee that tasted like it was made in April . Not a good day at Applebee's. Uhhhgg. Ordered some hot wings and they came out with some powder shit all over them. Waited nearly 20 minutes for the food that we never received after sending back the wings we wanted for an appetizer. Absolutely dissatisfied with my visit last night, 5/15/2026. Service was terrible and my food was cold. Waited at bar for a table and was never acknowledged by the bartender. Food plates with leftover food left on bar. When being seated at our tables, piles of trash left on the floor after sweeping. I should've left then and not ordered anything. Waitress brought our drinks holding them to her chest. Fried pickles were fried in scorched grease. Had to ask for dressing twice, never got refills on drinks. Let me mention again that my ribs and broccoli were cold. I am a manager in food service. I have my serve safe and what I experienced last night was terrible. There is no excuse. I knew it was a bad sign when my buddy and I waited for ten minutes to be acknowledged by a server and asked what we wanted to drink. Then, we ordered and thought our server, a bartender apparently, put in the order. Wrong. Then, our server, an EMT, had to help a customer who passed out. Understandable and good for him. The problem was all the other servers failed to inform us of this, while letting other tables know, knocking dollar amounts of their bill, and generally ignoring us. The other servers wouldn't even make eye contact, giving my buddy a complex. Did we have the plague? Why couldn't anyone tell us about our food? We should have gotten up and left because all we had were our drinks, but after 30-40 minutes a lady came by and said our food would be out soon. The trouble was, it had just gotten started. We waited over an hour for our food with little communication as to what was wrong and no apologies or offers to offset the long wait. Other people received this. In other words, I would not eat here again if you paid me. There is nothing worse than seeing everyone around you receive what they ordered while you're sitting there wondering where it all went wrong. read more

I want to give a better rating because the service was terrific. Ashley was our server and she was very attentive and accommodating. The ambiance is typical Applebee's... nothing special. The problem began when a friend and I walked in the door for a simple meal as we are out and about running errands during a Holiday season. The host (I heard him addressed as Eric) thought it appropriate to mumble snide statements thinking we didn't hear. We heard loud and clear. He wanted to sit us at the loud bar. We requested a booth away from the bar as we did not wish to have the blaring TV and my friend stated that we don't drink so perhaps somewhere else. Eric mumbled "Well whatever. We won't FORCE you to drink." as he waved to a table dismissively then tossed menus on the table as he sauntered away. Clearly, he missed the point and developed an assumption. Neither my friend nor I oppose a bar. We simply wanted a quieter environment in which to have conversations without distraction. And his stink face with dismissive attitude didn't set a welcoming tone. The good is that we had a terrific server and the food was decent (simple burgers so can't go wrong with that) Will most likely think twice before doing this again. In general I hate Applebees but this one is an exception. The people are nicer here. I don't feel like I'm dirt because I come in in work clothes. The servers are normally really cool and if they get busy they can be found without calling for a manager and complaining. read more

The lower half was from a while ago and this was tonight some places don't diserve another chance.. so tried to go back here and it was a mistake hair in my food service totaly horrible waitress didn't care if she served us or the people around us either. drinks was wrong and no refills and the woman would not come back to the table and when she did she wanted to know if we were ready to leave, so guess what we did yup we left and will not return. I am sorry to say it but if the doors close it wouldn't surprise me at all . Just terrible . so i guess people never learn the bartender was great but thats to be expected he is an older fellow so my hats off to him as he was working the door sitting people an he was great. the waitress was unintrested in waiting at all as she was rushing us to order and then wouldn't come back to our table to see if we needed anything. and then rushed us to pay for our food we also had to ask for refills so with all that said she was tipped accordingly , $1 and we always tip well as Waitresses usualy work hard but not this one initials (KB). my advice to her and anyone else if you're uninterested in doing this type of work then don't leave it to those that are because your doing them and yourslef a diservice, so tried to go back here and it was a mistake. read more

We stood at the door waiting to be seated, several employees came in and out of the back and looked at us, and just walked the other direction. Finally after 15 minutes, we were seated at our booth. A server told us he'd be with us in just a moment. He came back and we asked what the drink specials were and he told my husband "I don't know. I don't drink", then he realizes we were never given menus. So he walked away to get us some, after 20 minutes of still sitting with NO menus or drinks, we see him standing in the back on his phone. So we decided to leave and go else where. When he looked up from his phone and saw us leaving, he quickly approached us to apologize. That he was busy and forgot to get our menus. I understand being busy, but to have people sit and wait that long, while you are in clear view standing on your phone, is unacceptable. We are patient people, and this was supposed to be us celebrating my birthday dinner. But being that we were knowingly ignored and looked over from the moment we entered the door was very disappointing and not very good customer service. read more

Besides the waiting list for a table they have very fast and friendly service. Food was delicious and the pot o gold seasonal drink was tropical heaven and I also ordered the shark bowl every time I go to an applebees who has it available I order it almost like a personal tradition but the last couple times ive been they didnt add my gummy shark.. I am more familiar with Applebee's on Bridgeport Avenue in Tacoma Washington, but having moved to Virginia, it was nice to go and eat at a franchise I'm familiar with. However, that said, there were some concerns, though this was Mother's Day and they were really busy, and I get that. A good part of our food was either lukewarm or borderline cold. The chips were either borderline or full on stale. However, our server was mostly attentive to our needs, though she also had to attend to other chores, such as cleaning tables (shorthanded?). Food quality wasn't bad, though the menu wasn't necessarily familiar, but I am always up for trying something new, and I wasn't disappointed in that respect, nor was my meal particularly bad. In terms of cold food, it was primarily the food for my wife and son, as my food came last and was piping hot. Perhaps if they delivered food as soon as it was ready that would cure the cold food issue. The stale chips might be an inventory issue, and it might be time to just clear inventory, take the loss, and buy fresh chips. All in all, it wasn't my worst experience with an Applebee's restaurant, nor was it the best. It was about average. Would I come again? Why not? The food is decent and my server was friendly enough. Could they improve things? Of course, but it isn't like it is the end of the world. Maybe in a few weeks I might go back on a day that is less busy and see if there is a difference. read more

This place is by far one of the worst restaurants in the Bluefield area. After sitting down and ordering appetizers and drinks, each take around 30 minutes to come out. I place my order for a medium cooked bacon cheeseburger which comes out burnt. I then ask for another burger and explain why. After ordering the second burger I wait 20 minutes for it to arrive at the table. By this time my girlfriend has already finished her meal. It came out burnt for a second time. The burger was only slightly discounted. Avoid this business!!! read more

Understanding that this is in Bluefield, Va. and that there aren't many places to eat around 9+pm at night, I still feel that the food and service should be a little better. The tips on this place suggest a history of issues with cooks and service, im here to let you know the tips are accurate. We stopped in around 9:45pm, I asked if they were still serving food and the hostess said "yes". Walking to our table I noticed about 15-20 people in the place. some had already eaten, some just ordered and others were only drinking. A few minutes past and our server takes our drink order. He asks if we need a few minutes with the menu, and we state we do. He later returns with our drinks and we are ready to order. My girlfriend orders a steak, medium, and a side of steamed broccoli. I ordered the quesadilla burger (medium well) with onion rings. We waited about an hour for our food. let me remind you, there were about 15-20 people in the place and some had already eaten. our server was no where to be found at times, other times he was making single trips to and from the back. Example: one trip he would come out, bring one thing to a table, then go back for another single item. Multi-tasking is not in his vocabulary. When the food arrived, first looks were disappointing. My girlfriend's steak was tiny, the size of her palm and this was NOT a filet mignon, so it should have been larger. It was cooked all the way through as well. My burger was also overcooked and just bland. But how could something with so much ingredients be so bland??? ugh! Not wanting to wait til christmas to have our orders corrected, or possibly spit in, we just ate what we wanted. Now that we were finished, we tried to pay and here is where we had a hard time finding our server. he apparently disappeared and when he did come out, we couldnt get his attention. My girlfriend actually got up and had to get his attention. Needless to say, we left very little tip and even though its one of only a few spots to eat in that area, I won't return. read more

This place is absolutely terrible. We came in from out of town to visit family who lives here and we got treated bad. The service sucked. The waitress would put us last to all her tables. She made it obvious that we were unimportant. Even the manager visited other tables besides ours. The food was bad, came out cold after we waited for an hour for it. I've given this Applebee's far more chances to make things right than I should have . This Applebee's use to be the best around but in the last year it has really gone down hill the service has slacked at times and the food ... well it has been awful I love Applebee's four cheese Mac and cheese but the last few times I've ordered it the noodles have been very over cooked and no cheese sauce but even enough to cover half the noodles they served me a salad on a hot wet plate so my salad tasted like dish soap and my croutons was soggy I've ordered my steak witch was the smallest 8 ounce steak I've ever seen well done and it was so rare blood was on the plate . This place is horrible!!! Second time in a row my wife and I went to eat here, got seated, and never had a server come to the table. After 30 minutes without knowing where or who our server was we left. Just like the last time. The Princeton Applebee's is awesome but when you have a two year old you'd like a little more room, that's why we go to bluefield. There were about 15 people in the entire restaurant and about 6 servers walking around on their cell phones, drinking water, doing anything except work. We ended up going to McDonald's because of the time wasted and we had to get our child from the babysitter. In short, we will never ever ever ever never ever go back to this place. read more

Within a week the regional manager reached out and insisted he will speak with the restaurant about their procedure so this doesn't happen to others and is mailing me coupons.
