Was refused a drink with a valid id in hand. Was told I need to bring a paper one in that I 'should've received' (according to the waitress) from the dmv over a year prior. When I told her 'no this is my id. How I buy alcohol cigarettes and weed' Was told because it was vertical I am not allowed to be served. I have been drinking legally since I was 21 and have never had an issue with my id before, including other Illinois bars and other applebees locations. read more

Had a late lunch at the bar. Our bartender Carolyn was absolutely wonderful! Friendly and attentive! Food was hot and delicious! I had the Classic Bacon Cheeseburger and my husband had the Rib Eye Steak. We were both happy. And satisfied with the meals. The atmosphere in the bar was nice. Happy workers! This location is terrible every time we try it, we're done going to the Belvidere Applebees It's not clean, the staff is lazy and the cook staff is obviously lacking training and skill Combo App took forever which isn't really a problem for us cause we're just having a good time talking with each other. The spinach dip is terrible, mozzarella sticks & wings were fine. the sandwiches came out 1st and the 2 pasta dishes were 10 mins later and still undercooked. I never leave food on my plate & I couldn't stomach the fish n chips. I bit into the fish and couldn't bite through so I tried to cut it and couldn't. The fish was soooo greasy & the fries were mushy & not cooked. No I didn't say a word I just left 1/2 my dinner The pasta dishes 2 of my sons had were 1/2 eaten, they had undercooked chicken on them & breadsticks that were rock hard and overcooked. Another son had a chicken sandwich that he ate 1/2 of Wife had the the clubhouse grill and said it was fine & her fries were cooked Bill B4 tip with no alcohol was over $120 Never again read more

Ok. I left this review about a week ago, but now it's gone... hmmmm. So here is my story. During the pandemic, we started to get carry outs from here. They did a great job with that. We have never been impressed with the inside service, so we avoided it. My wife received a coupon on our birthday for a free meal, and it specified it had to be for inside service- Our visit- About a month ago- Arrived around 6 pm on a Friday night. Nobody in bar area to seat us. I went to find someone, and the bar tender and a couple waitresses were taking selfies with some friends. I got one of them to seat us. For the rest of the night, I had to ask another waitress to tell our server we needed drink refills, etc. As many others have said in their reviews, she was messing around in the kitchen, laughing and having a good ole' time. There was one waitress there with a single pony tail, on the side, that was handling 75% of the tables. She was the only professional working, on the service end. This brings me back to pre- pandemic days. I would actually see the owner distracting and messing around with the service staff, actually being a barrier to doing their jobs. There is actually no service culture there. This place runs more like a man cave, than a business. The parent company is always running promotions to bring in business. The idea is, this gives you the opportunity to wow your customer's, and get repeat business. Epic fail! read more

I'm home visiting from Florida and I came here with a friend to get drinks. I turned 21 a few months ago and still have a vertical ID which says under 21 until _____ (a date which passed months ago) and the ID is valid until 2031. I was served in the airport and used that ID to get through TSA but the manager was an absolute d*** making up all types of scenarios as to how my ID isn't valid. He said if I wanted to get served i needed to go get a "grown up ID" even though my ID is valid until 2031. Applebees can smd. read more

Deplorable service. It's so unfortunate. Not many places in Belvidere and this is my first time- I'm visiting - and my anxiety level is high. Even after approaching the manager she only provided excuses. There are 3 other people in the bar area and no reason to be treated as if invisible. At one time 6 workers in their blue shirts were in here and not until one saw me going to find the manager - after I had asked for our server with no results - did someone come over. Less than 1 would be more appropriate! Came to Applebee's Sunday, Jan 22, 2022, for my son in laws' birthday. The Restaurant was maybe half full, we were seated, given menus and waiter left, came back later to take drink order, our party had only 4, we ordered a pop, a water, a beer and a cocktail, 25 minutes later "Cole" brought the water, pop, napkins and knives...NO FORKS...Still no beer or cocktail. Waited a long time for him to return, we asked about the other drinks, he replied, "the bartender is starting, " ....meaning..."What" ??? My son in law went to the bar to ask about the drinks, the bartender said, " I have no idea"....ooookay....(but she was doing dishes). Again, probably 10-15 minutes later, the bartender brought the drinks. He finally came to take our orders, waited probably 30 minutes for him to bring out TWO of our plates, still no forks, my husband had to go hunt down and get forks himself...the other two NEVER did get their food. I told the waiter the fries were barely warm when he set the two plates down and that I would appreciate a new order. ( Which were NEVER brought out. Another 15 minutes, the other two still had no food, drinks were long empty by now, and "Cole" was nowhere to be seen. When he did finally come back, he brought our bill, but still no food for the other two, no refill, and didn't even remotely apologize for the delay. Finally, I had had it! I took the ticket to him at the cash register and told him I would happily pay for the drinks and the "partial" meal since the fries were unfit to eat, he got shitty with me. I reiterated I was NOT paying $53.00 for 6 shrimp, 6 wings and 2 drinks, that I would be happy to pay for the meats as a side or appetizer. He basically laughed in my face. I then talked to who I'm assuming was a manager. She offered no solution. He then said he would be right back... then never returned, so I once again (3rd trip to the register) go to talk to him. Before I could say anything, he mumbled something to me, I asked him to repeat it, he said, "It's taken care of" I'm assuming he meant the bill, the problem, the experience...I have NO IDEA". We left and went to Texas Roadhouse, where they were pretty much packed, but we had EXCEPTIONAL Service. EXCEPTIONAL food, and left very happy! The food was alright the service was mediocre at best. When we arrived it was before the rush of people. It took several minutes for our server to arrive and even longer to take our order. This is petty but the glasses of our drinks were all sticky to make eating a sticky experience. One of us had a hamburger and it fell apart before half way eating it. The rest of our meals were ok. What I really didn't like was the smart attitude when I said I asked for a printed receipt but that's ok. As I did not want to wait any longer because it already took so long to get our bill and to have it totaled out. I was told "that is why it tells you to hand it back to your server." My server was not there when I finished signing on the card reader. I could read that I am to hand back to her. I just didn't want to wait any longer to leave as it was really very busy by now. However, it did print right on that card reader just seemed rude how I was talked to. This is not the same Applebee's it once was. read more

We went for a late lunch and sat in the bar area so we could watch sports on the TV's. We ordered Bacon Cheeseburgers and fries. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The Bacon Cheeseburger was total deliciousness! It took four napkins to finish and still had to wash up. The burger was cooked just how I like it. Pink. And with every bite you could taste meat, cheese, bacon, lettuce, onions, pickle on a toasted bun. This will be my go-to place for a CB. Good job Applebee's! read more

Car side to go means Applebee's staff is supposed to come to your car and bring you your to-go food. What happened was I sat in my car in the specified spot for 10 min and no one came out. I went inside and the bartender said she was busy. With 3 people sitting at her bar. She then said she didn't make our milkshake because she was going to wait until we arrived. I told her I'd been outside for 10 min and again she didn't say sorry she just said she was busy. The pretzel appetizer was over fried or boiled or something. It was just gross. The amount of food was less than when we sit in the restaurant and eat. This place seems to be ran by idiots and teenagers. read more

Good food. Great price. Good service. As a chain, they change up their menu every so often. Can be good or bad. There are times I love their menu, or hate it, just depends. But there is always a variety. It is clean and usually not very busy at this location. Very fun casual atmosphere. Sit down, have a beer, wings or nachos and enjoy a game. read more

The only reason out earned a 2 star vs 1 was was for their decor supporting local police and fire. The waitress was horrible... unattentive, very slow, confused (gave wrong drinks, handed our credit card to table that paid cash at end) coffee was tap warm and after 5 minutes I was able to catch her for a replacement coffee. 38 minutes to get order of bbq brisket tacos and caprese chicken. Attached is tacos with maybe 1-2 Tbsp bbq but tons of sauce (was gross dripping) and the caprese chicken was bland, hub didn't eat but maybe half. By the time the waitress checked on us hub was so irritated (there now over an hour) he didn't want me to say anything as it was, "beyond ridiculous to waste anymore time". Waitress made a comment that she, "doesn't know what's going on in my life " while correcting handing our card to us vs neighboring table. Hmm... perhaps figure it out and have a better day tomorrow for the sake of your customers. read more

My boyfriend and I went in around 10pm and no one greeted us when we entered and it took a while for the bartender ,who looked annoyed by us being there, to finally look up and tell us to have a seat and when we went to sit in the dinning area instead of the bar she grumbled about "I said in here", the bar area. As we were sitting there 2 groups of people came in and she told them that the restaurant was about to close, even though it was only 10 and the place closes at 1am according to the hours posted on the Applebee's website. Also, when my boyfriend ordered a beer and asked if it was on draft she said that it was. But when she brought his drink it was a bottle. You could just tell she didn't want to be there and was unhappy about being the only server there. We decided that after all this that we would pay for the drinks and take our business else where, where we would be treated much better. read more

We came in and waited close to 5 minutes before we were acknowledged at the door. When we were finally seated, the booths and table were sticky. When the drinks came the cups were visibly crusted with food on them. The cutlery had the same issue when we unrolled them from napkins. When our food came the flies followed and we spent the entire meal swatting. Our appetites were lost. We left without eating. The waitress was as accommodating as she could be and responded sweetly however the experience was awful. read more

Stopped in for the all-you-can-eat riblets and chicken tenders. Was seated right away and our server Amanda asked what we wanted to drink and then immediately asked if we want to place an order. She saw we were already looking at the menu. The staff was really attentive to our needs we ordered the all-you-can-eat riblets. We started with Texas barbecue and the Asian Spice. First serving came out right away and both of them had a great taste riblets were tender, came with seasoned fries and a side of coleslaw. Second serving took a little bit longer but when that one that was brought out she immediately asked if we wanted to have another round brought out. We finished with an order of the chicken tenders and the honey barbecue riblets the tenders crispy juicy on the inside and quite enjoyable. Been to this Applebees plenty of times. Usually the food is well cooked and tasty, but tonight disaster. We ordered garlic shrimp and steak, steak with onion rings and french fries, and some kind of chicken. The chicken was fine but both steaks were messed up.. The 1 was not a 9 ounce the other was rare not well done and they gave us no onion rings or french fries with that steak. After calling and talking to the manager Josh he agreed to replace both steaks. We drove all the way back to pick up the steaks, onion rings and french fries. The garlic steak was fine and they gave us the onion rings and french fries but they didn't give us the other steak. My son ended up eating a bologna sandwich with onion rings and french fries tonight . Very disappointed, won't ever go back. read more

Was there Monday night. I had a shrimp with pasta meal with basil. Not very good the manager decided to send it back and it came back worse. They put Alfredo on it mixed it up became oily they never offered me something else. I paid for it and threw it in the garbage. Will not go back there again. Absolutely horrible! The service and food quality were sub par. The carpets were dirty and needed a severe vacuuming. The table was sticky as if it hadn't been cleaned in a week. The wait staff didn't know what they were doing and wandered around aimlessly. The manager wandered around without interacting with guests. We ordered the pretzels and beer cheese dip as an appetizer and the pretzels were extremely greasy. We ordered the Triple Bacon Burger. Which is supposed to have bacon seared into the burger - we got plain cheeseburgers topped with bacon. My daughter ordered Pizza Bread which was so burnt she couldn't eat it. Awful!! Avoid this location at all costs. If you're traveling, McDonald's would be a better option. read more

A wonderful oasis on an otherwise dreadful voyage though 50 miles of stall interstate construction. Thank God the navigation system saw it because there is no sign of it from the highway. The best part is Kids Eat Free EVERYDAY ALL DAY with the purchase of an adult entree! What an awesome deal especially in this economy!
