I called Apple Valley insulation to schedule an estimate for my project. The "scheduling" receptionist proceeded to tell me that she would take down my information to give it to a sales rep to schedule me for an estimate in about a week. Excuse me? I asked what exactly do you do? She then tells me she's scheduling. I had to chuckle. So she's in scheduling but CANNOT schedule me. The only thing she does is take down information to GIVE to another person to then schedule me a week out. Am I missing something? Maybe the actual job is done great but I couldn't even get to that point because it's silly that the "scheduling" receptionist can't schedule me to have someone come out. My Aunt got a quote from them and they cancelled her contract. When they were taken over from a FAMILY business to BDI they refused to honor the quote they gave her so they took the easy way out. She paid up front and still has not got her refund. That was 40+ days ago. I would NOT recommend them to anyone!!! read more

WARNING! Unethical contractor who takes advantage of consumers. Got a quote to install 13.25 inches of insulation in my attic. They based the quote on just an arial view of my home. I have a large room that has a vaulted ceiling that was also included in the quote. Not realizing this they did the install and after I asked Justin how could they have installed 13.25 inches of insulation in the room with vaulted ceilings. He stated his workers said they did. The tip off re: the vault ceilings was I saw his worker came outside and was looking up at the vaulted ceiling. Justin said he would come take a look. I asked him to take a picture of the insulation in the vaulted ceiling. He finally sent me a picture of the attic but not the vaulted ceiling. He is now ignoring me. I have started a complaint with the CSLB to get resolution. I've had to file a complaint on another licensed contractor before and was very successful. Just really sad how unethical these contractors have become. Karma hopefully will get them. It usually does. read more

Apple Valley Insulation insulated the attic in my home that's in the High Desert, and I couldn't be more pleased! I am diligent with price comparisons and quality of the product/work, and this company met all my (high) expectations. The pricing was great compared to the companies that are located down the hill. Everyone I dealt with was extremely helpful, from the ladies in the office, the salesman, and the crew they sent to my home to do the work. I had a ton of questions throughout the process and I was very impressed with the knowledge and the time they took to explain everything. Wish I could put negative 10. This company is now owned by BDI. Carrying the name and reputation of Apple Valley Insulation. They raised the price and then canceled, when I would not agree to the increase. Paid in full and it's been almost a month and no refund. Everyday they state "the check is in the mail." They say they will check with corporation and get back to me. But no call from them. I call them everyday. read more

I would not recommend them to anyone. I was told one price in an estimate. Then when they called and told me my options they did not clarify the add-ons were different. I was led to believe I was getting insulation at one price and when I went to pay it the price doubled. The office rep did not clarify the options were in addition to. She made it seem there was a new price. Please use any other company, you will be much happier. Wish I could leave negative stars. read more

Love this company, and have given their name out to several friends. Justin was so great about explaining all my options, and fit me into his schedule very quickly as soon as I was ready for them. He sent two guys who were super fast, super polite and cleaned up after themselves. This has not been a good experience for us. The first time we used these guys to install R13 fiberglass batts in our lower build-up of our cabin, everything went fine. We had a pipe bust from the hot water heater and the whole front 1/3 of the build-up, got soaked and the insulation there was dripping in condensation. Luckily the paper was there to protect the insulation and floor above from moisture and mold. Having such a good first experience with these guys, I called them again, to replace that now removed insulation on the front 1/3 of that build-up area. That's when things went south, and fast. We had scheduled a day for them to do the work, so I took a day off work, and drove up there to wait. They were supposed to be there around 9:30 am (so I went up the night before). At 8:30 I got a call saying there were a few people who called in sick, and they won't be able to send anyone up. After complaining that I had to take a day off work to do this, they said sorry, there was nothing they could do. A few weeks later, I called and scheduled another day. I asked if they could come after 1:00 as it would be after then, that I could arrive up there. The night before, I knew my schedule was going to be tight, so called to confirm a more specific window of time, and I was told it would be after 1:00, but that if I called in the morning, they'd have a much better idea on the time window. I called late the following morning, around 11:15 to ask if they had a better idea now as to the window, and was told it would be at 1:00. I asked if they could move it to 1:30 as I wasn't sure if I could make it by 1:00. I was told yes, they could do that. I also asked the girl, if she could call the crew to see where they were at with their morning schedule, to see how close to that 1:30 time frame they might be. She refused to do that, again, saying they'll be there at 1:30. I arrived at exactly 1:30 and after waiting for around 45 minutes, called again, asking where they were at. I was told they were at a job close to the cabin, and would be there shortly. At 3:30 they showed up, 2 hours after I was told they would, and the crew told me they only got to the previous job at 1:00 and there was no way they could have made it to my place by 1:30. That schedule for the day hadn't changed for them, so they were NEVER going to be there at 1:00 or 1:30. A simple phone call from the customer service rep, would have solved that issue, and wouldn't have had to rush to get up there by 1:30. She couldn't be bothered to do that. read more

I'm a DIY person. I've done just about every job there is on a house, car, and computer. So I set out to insulate under my house (it's up on pillars...freezing cold last winter) using rigid EPS foam, and called Apple Valley for a quote on other insulation jobs. Justin asked me what I was paying for materials for the job under the house. He then gave me a quote that was slightly less than HALF what I was spending on MATERIALS AND DELIVERY ALONE for the under-the-floor insulation job. The nice people at Whitecap in Riverside refunded my money on the EPS foam, and Apple Valley did the job with fiberglass insulation in about three hours. What a shame -- I missed the golden opportunity to spend two or three days cutting up EPS with a hot knife and crawling in the dirt under the house to install it! read more
