I give plenty to local charities so when someone asks if I want to donate to a cause and I politely say no thank you I'm in a hurry and then they proceed to try and stand in front of the door and get their message across to you it's very bad for business. I had to move the woman out of my way so I could enter the store. Second reason was I only needed to get two balloons and was already running behind schedule. No one at the flower/balloon counter. So off I go to customer service where 4 people are chatting and one cashier helping customers. 3 people in line. The chatters didn't want to break up the little idle chit chat session and help out. Finally my time. I asked if they could fill balloons for me the response was. Oh isn't he over there? Well if he were at his station do you think I would have waited in line for you to help? Get the balloons filled after the cashier figured out how to work the helium bottle and checked out. Surprise. Another gauntlet run to get out of the store and push past the annoying fund raisers. If you want to allow fundraising on your sidewalk that's your business. If they block the door and harass your customers then that's bad for your business.

I was so impressed with Kennie's the first visit, I got a loyalty card, which I've been using almost every day this visit as well. The selection is great, the prices are good-- but the service is just fantastic! It's such a welcoming and cheerful grocery. If I lived here, this would be my primary store. They sell beer and wine, but it must be a separate purchase altogether from your groceries and you have to check that out at the alcohol check out counter. They have seating g areas inside and out. You can accumulate points if you get a Giant card and save on gas. Once I had 70 cents off per gallon of gas.

The meat, deli, seafood and produce departments offer as much (and sometimes more) variety than the big box retailers. I love that I can get freshly steamed shrimp, fresh hot soups and hot bar selections for the times I don't feel like cooking. When I was my Mom's caretaker, I could not have made it through without the deli, salad and hot bar. As to the employees? Unfailingly polite and helpful. Need a specialized cut of meat? They will cut it for you. Need that wonderful Sahlen's ham sliced a certain way? The deli will slice it custom. Looking for something special in produce? They will do their best to get it for you - and frequently offer produce from local farms. I love the convenience of being able to run to Kennie's as I need. Can't do that with the larger, more distant stores. In short, I am very happy that Kennie's is here in Spring Grove!

A few staff members were friendly and helpful in locating a few of those items. Trader Joe's is quick, convenient, and a great casual place to try out what's new; the fresh blooms and houseplants are all affordably priced. The parking lot can get busy, but people come and go pretty quickly.
