Read Clarke retired after a lifetime of commitment and service to the community and this store was sold to Rocky's Hardware, a New England chain based in Springfield MA, with 48 stores including in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida. Rocky's is family owned. Although most of the original employees are no longer working there, it still remains a super community place in small-town New England. The employees are super friendly and eager to assist. The Ace Hardware affiliation means they can take advantage of a worldwide supply chain. Since the turnover, stock variety has visibly increased. Another addition to their offerings include online ordering. It was sad to see the old family move away. But if it had to, Rocky's is a welcome presence in the community.

The VNA's coverage in the Kearsarge/Lake Sunapee area is nearly 500 square miles and they provide an amazing job to elderly, hospice, and post-surgical patients who need their services. The Renaissance Shoppe is not a consignment store but made possible through the generous donations of people. The shop has two different sections across the parking lot, one warehouse-type building, the other in the walkout basement of the VNA facility. The warehouse building has primarily furniture, kitchenware and some appliances. The other locale has fine glass and crystal, porcelain, and limited, but fine furniture. With our entertainment schedule, we go through wine glasses like paper plates at a barbecue. So we're oftentimes at Renaissance looking for matching stemware and invariably we find it. At very, very reasonable prices, which is one of the reasons why this is such a great value. Sometime ago, we found a small glass computer table that we had been looking for at commercial outlets for hundreds of dollars, we paid a fraction at Renaissance. And they take all plastic for payments. Affable, nice personnel who are there as volunteers for a great cause.

And invariably, I end up at Flash Photo to turn them from computer design into beautiful trifolds. There are two gentlemen and a lady who know a lot about design and printing for best results. Their work is efficient, fast and reasonably priced. The store is also a UPS center, allowing for a one-stop shopping experience for all packages. As well, they accept and ship returns for both UPS and FedEx, wrap packages and take great care of the contents. On top of that, they do the old fashioned film development and have a huge array of frames. It's good to have a store in our small town that can handle all these different tasks.
