I used to be an Apple girl. I have been the proud owner of various iPods, iPhones, Mac minis, a MacBook Air, and likely more accessories over the years. Since I switched from an iPhone 6 to a couple of Google Pixel phones, I haven't had a need to go into the Apple Store. I am still using my old Mac mini and MacBook Air, which are getting close to being a decade old. They cause the occasional hiccup now and again, but they still work. I don't think that I will get another one soon, but they have been good investments. While at Rideau Centre on Canada Day, I saw this Apple Store and walked in. I looked at a pair of Mickey Mouse wireless headphones by Beats. They were going for $300. Wow! I was looking at the new iPhone models. They looked slick, but I am so enamoured of my Google Pixel phone that iPhones are dead to me. However, I do like the new iPod touch. I love music. I like the idea of housing all your music on a device and playing it without streaming. As an example, on this drive to Montreal, my rental car only has AM and FM radio settings. It would have been nice to have an iPod with all my music on it and not think about steaming it. An Apple staff member came over and we talked about the new iPod touch. He was nice, helpful, and great. I like coming to the Apple Store to browse. It was nice to fiddle with gadgets. (252)

Apple Rideau staff is very rude and tried their best to discourage me from buying what I wanted and needed because I had on a Star of David.

I was offered the cost of the repair as a credit for a new phone, which I had to decide on without being able to research it (with no working phone) I accepted, tho it was out of power, so I couldn't verify it would work. It didn't come with the stuff required to charge it so I had to get that too, go home, charge it.... Only to find out this phone was locked, when it was sold and labelled as unlocked. I had to go back again, and they exchanged it right away, and it didn't cost more, but all in all it was a mixed experience. The repair effectively bricked my phone - so getting credit for the repair, rather than for the phone itself felt like I was worse off for having come here. Then I had to fork over more money to get a new phone, which I obviously would have been better off doing in the first place instead of trying to get this repaired. I had to buy a phone without researching it, and even then it didn't work right away. The second error with the unlocked phone was a minor one, but compounded with the whole repair-wrecking-my-phone, it felt like a lot of hassle, low value, and not a great arrangement. I'm sure other people will have better experiences, but its hard for me to say it all went super well.

There were clear options to keep my service at the current plan, or upgrade or downgrade. Since my needs have changed, I decided to downgrade, saving about $25/month. Clicking on "Next", I get a message "Oops! Something went wrong! Try again or call us at [toll free number])". I tried again, with the same result. I tried again. Same result. I tried again, but kept my current plan. No error, and I was able to proceed. I went back. Tried again to downgrade, and again "Oops! Something went wrong!". Tried again, but chose the upgrade option. It worked. I went back. Tried again to downgrade, and again "Oops! Something went wrong! Try again or call us". I tried again, keeping the current plan, and it worked. Now, I may be a little slow sometimes, but clearly, the system is set to deliver the "Oops" message when one tries to downgrade, and if they were upfront about it...as in, "hey, call us so we can discuss your needs and see if downgrading is the right choice for you"...then, I'd still be miffed, but at least I wouldn't call them out for their dishonestly. In the end, I kept the current plan. As soon as the move takes place, I will likely go to Oxio, who are offering a regular, non-promo plan for faster speeds at a lower price. Ciao, TekSavvy.

I signed up with Teksavvy and between 8 June and 18 July I had 13 drop outs of internet and phone service. I would have to power cycle the cable modem and service would be restored. During this time I contacted support service and they would find nothing wrong. After cancelling the service and returning the equipment I got an email saying I had failed to return the equipment. I did have an email from them after i had returned the equipment saying I had a credit balance, but they still said I failed to return the phone adapter after I sent them notice of my equipment return tracking data with Canada Post. I have no way of proving that I returned the phone adapter so I am going to pay them $56.44 so they don't turn me over to a collection agency. If you do return equipment to Teksavvy after canceling their service, make sure you take a picture of the equipment in the return box.
