This establishment has been here for years, but it was my first time in. Immediately, I was greeted very politely. The cashier was patient and knowledgeable about the menu. The staff were focused and friendly. Management is obviously Good !!! I had the Tuna Salad. The size of the sandwich was huge. The bread was soft and good tasting, now the Star (Tuna Salad) was very BLAND. It was an excellent brand or even fresh, but flavor was missing. My taste buds were disappointed. I added salt and pepper that helped some. The box was so cute. Included with the tuna salad sandwich, was a bag of chips, wrapped dill pickle slice , that was crunchy and good and OMG a delicious chocolate chip cookie. I had Apple Spice Junction catering for a work lunch. I got the Southwest Salad ($14) which has "grilled chicken, corn, black beans, tortilla strips, cheddar cheese, and avocado on top of fresh salad greens" and BBQ Ranch dressing. It was not good. The salad came in a large clamshell container, but only half of it was salad; the other half was a dressing container and some extras like bread, butter, a peppermint patty, and some sort of weird sweet spread. It also came with a cookie. I got a salad because I wanted something healthy, but this didn't fit the bill. I wanted it to have more greens, but it was mostly toppings, especially chicken, such that the salad was out of balance. I liked the crunchy tortilla strips. I skipped the dressing; it was a huge portion and would have completely overwhelmed the salad. I tasted a bit of it and I'm glad I skipped it -- gross. I don't know what the deal was with the sides. The bread was two basic slices of white bread; unappealing, I skipped it. I have no idea what the sweet spread was for. The peppermint patty was a peppermint patty, idk what it was doing there. The cookie looked pretty good; I thought it was chocolate chip. But, it turned out to be some sort of apple spice chocolate chip which is a terrible combination I've never seen before. My update is simply for more applause! We just faxed ASJ our menu choices and they take care of the rest! We ordered deluxe boxed lunches for a training day we had at the office and they totally delivered in more ways than one! Physically, they brought the meals to our office and figuratively because they had everything perfect! Their awesomeness is beyond comprehension! Read below for my previous raving review! And you may want to ask them what drinks they have - no ginger ale! Lol!! The boxed lunches are fabulous!! In our office we are always thrilled when it's Apple Spice Junction day! We pass around the menu, check our choices, and let the delivery begin! From sandwiches to soups/salads, and sides to desserts, ASJ is superb! I've had the Caesar salad, the Cobb and the Southwestern but there are over a dozen more to choose from. The Granny Apple Turkey sandwich, the Turkey Avocado and the Egg Salad are all delish! Lots of sides, but I like the Frog Eye Salad, (it's a type of fruit salad with marshmallows, and an acquired taste). The lunches are meticulously packed, with condiments, utensils and napkins. They add a peppermint patty as an extra treat. All for about $10! That's an incredible price for the service, the presentation and the meal! Wow, their boxed lunch catering services are fantastic. Seriously: the preparation of the sandwich was so meticulous -- it might've been my favorite meeting lunch to date -- and each condiment was separated from the sandwich. I loved that (and slathered on both the mayo and pesto mayo). My herb chicken sandwich was simple but tasty, and I loved the additions of the pickle in a bag and a York peppermint patty. It also came with a side of potato salad and a chocolate chip cookie, both of which were delicious. I feel like the size of the meal was perfect; nothing was left uneaten and I didn't feel overly full. I saw their salads too, and they also looked fresh and tantalizing. Whenever I'm asked to get catering for my office, I always choose Apple Spice's boxed lunches. They offer delivery for orders of three or more lunches, which is very convenient, and the customer service is excellent. They always call ahead of time to confirm your order, arrive on time, and call as a follow up to make everything went to plan. For under $10 per person the Deluxe boxed lunch buys you a generous sandwich on house made bread, condiments, a pickle, a soft chocolate chip cookie, a choice of a side (chips, pasta salad, fruit, etc.), and a York peppermint patty. You can also get a boxed salad with two thick cut slices of their amazing bread. Everything I've tried is delicious, from the turkey, apple, and havarti sandwich, the deluxe BLT with avocado, the roasted chicken sandwich, and the classic club with the special sauce. Lunch here was awesome! My job used to order catering from here a lot, but I had never actually gotten anything for myself. Luckily, I live close to here so yesterday I made a game time decision to order online and pick up. I got their new turkey sandwich with apple slices and havarti cheese. This is the best lunch I've had in a long time! Seriously! The menu at Apple Spice Junction is not complicated. Soups, salads and sandwiches. Today's visit was my first. I had the Cashew Chicken Salad and O.M.G. was it delicious. And filling! Assorted greens mixed with fresh vegetables, topped with their famous homemade cashew chicken salad. They recommended poppyseed dressing with it, and it indeed was the perfect complement! You can taste the freshness of the ingredients. They give you bread and different spreads to go with your salad, and even that was scrumptious! They also give you a peppermint patty. Nice touch. And service? Outstanding. Prompt and friendly. You can tell they appreciate your business. Being, strangely tucked away in a business complex across from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, it's easy to miss. We use Apple Spice Junction (ASJ) for catering frequently for work when we have large meetings or trainings. Occasionally I have also placed smaller orders for meetings as well and have always been impressed with ASJ. When placing orders over the phone the staff are always helpful to make suggestions based on the number of people they are providing food for. I really appreciate this as it can be daunting placing an order for 40+ people but I never agonize over having enough for everyone when I use ASJ. My most recent order was for 5 people which I actually completed online. Their online ordering system is very easy and through; allowing you to tailor each sandwich, salad or lunch time you order exactly the way you want it. I had people that wanted extra dressing, no cheese, etc and was able to note all of those things as I selected them. They called me after the order was placed to confirm and give me an estimate on the delivery time. With the larger orders they deliver and set up everything for you which is awesome. Their sandwiches are hearty and if you order the box lunches they come with plenty of sides. I really like their BLT and Turkey Avocado sandwiches. If there was something I could never get enough of though it's the honey cinnamon butter and bread. I always wish I had more of that butter any time I have it. Wow. People of Richmond, I implore you to get out more. With all the fabulous reviews and with my own co-worker's recommendation, I ventured to have some lunch at Apple Spice Junction. First of all, its hard to find because its in a industrial park-like area, hidden away, with virtually no signage. The menu does have some promising items and their kitchen seems well equipped to handle their large catering business. Service at the register was good (pleasant, answered questions, accurate), but then it all went downhill. The chicken salad sandwich was extremely over-curried (and I love curried chicken salad so this was disappointing), my order of potato salad was brought out as macaroni salad, and their woman's bathroom was disgusting. It had some sort of white liquid on the floor of the one stall oozing out of god-knows-where. Not going to be venturing there again anytime soon. read more

They catered an event that I recently attended for work and everyone in my group was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the ingredients and portions. I can't vouch for price, but as a guest of an event that they catered for, I can say the sandwiches are bangin'. It's kind of funny that I first tried their food for a catered event. My mom lives very close to the store and we have had it on our radar for a while to check out. Because the store is only open during the week for lunch, it just hasn't been practical for us to make it out. Anyways, the food. They had at least a half dozen sandwich options at the event, and I went with turkey and avocado. The bread was really fresh, and I liked that it also came with a cranberry sauce spread on the side. They offered lots of healthy side options including fruits and veggies, but I settled on chips. All boxes were served with a chocolate chip cookie, a pickle and peppermint patty. Today's lunch was so delish, I had to write a review asap! For an office lunch I ordered 2 Caesar salads and one Southwestern Chicken salad. All were delicious, but since I had the Southwestern, I will give you the scoop. Fresh greens and veggies topped with grilled chicken, corn, black beans, tortilla strips, and cilantro. The best part, and therefore probably the most unhealthy part, the special BBQ ranch dressing! OMG, I could drink the stuff. The salads are a nice size and come with two slices of bread (one herb and one plain) with honey cinnamon butter and plain butter. The honey cinnamon butter is enough to feel like a dessert, but I also ordered a rice krispy treat and it was awesome! In case you don't want to order dessert, they come with a mini York peppermint patty. Highly recommend Apple Spice Junction if you need lunch delivered for your next meeting or event!! I saw this company advertised on the side of one of their vans driving downtown Richmond. I took a chance on them and hired them to cater for my job serving 55 people. They are awesome, they deliver piping hot food, set up, use chafing dishes and utensils as well as a beautiful display on the table. The food is always good.. Ive ordered ziti, chicken parmesan, and chicken alfredo pasta. The packages all come with salad and bread and the best part of catering with them is they come back to collect their gear and clean up too! AMAZING. Less than 2 miles from my work, I've always wanted to try this place out. I got a BLT which came with a pickle, a cookie, a side of choice (i.e. chips, veggies, pasta salad, etc) and a piece of chocolate. All for just $10!! I initially stopped in for a quick sandwich to pair with the soup I had brought to work but this meal was more than enough for lunch without the soup! Everything is all boxed up super cute and neatly individually wrapped. Really nice. The sandwich was HUGE!!! Large pieces of thick cut crispy bacon, big tomato slices, lots of lettuce, and all the condiments included in the box. The bread was hands down the best part. Very apparently freshly baked sourdough was so soft and moist. Just delicious with the crunch of the bacon and veggies. I cannot wait to return! It's somewhat tucked away in an office park off Parham Rd. Definitely off the beaten path (my gps didn't take me directly too it) so keep your eyes peeled but oh man, worth every penny! So yummy! It's tucked away in a business park across from J Sarg, so I can see how it may be overlooked except for it's catering. There are plenty of tables for dine-in. Not only does everything taste great but my order is always very accurate (sometimes I request to substitute/add ingredients). The sandwiches taste super fresh, homemade, and way more delicious than any chain restaurant like Panera. They also add a cute personal touch by adding a York Peppermint Patty to every box lunch. I absolutely love eating lunch here. Everything is so fresh. I have eaten their salads and sandwiches. It has been 11 yeas and counting since I was introduced to them and they have not wavered from offering the best and freshest lunches in the area. They are pricey for lunch, but it is worth it. I ordered the herb roasted chicken deluxe box lunch with frog-eye salad (sounds weird but it reminds me of a cold rice pudding with mandarin oranges and pineapple in it instead - it, too, is delicious) and it didn't disappoint. The herb roasted chicken is my fave and it isn't full of salt for it to have good taste. You get plenty of it on your sandwich. Mine was falling out of it. The bread was fresh as expected and the lettuce was green without any wilted pieces. The box has all sorts of additional goodies (pickle, cookie and peppermint patty) with condiments and eating utensils. You can eat it on the go since it is packed with everything you need. The location is not the best because it is hidden in an office park. My mother has yet to find it . Really wished they stayed open later for those of us who want a quick take out dinner. I mention these things because I know there are those who will reduce their rating because of it. However, those things don't keep me from giving props where due. The food is fabulous here. My friend had the curried chicken salad sandwich deluxe box and she said it was delicious. That's next on my list to try! Always look forward to ordering lunch from here, but today I am not happy with my food. I order the club sandwhich and normally I can barely finish it. Today it looks like a ham sandwich. 2 slices of ham,1 slice of bacon and Turkey with lettace and 2 slices of cheese. Left tomato off. Ordered potato salad and got pasta instead. For $11.00 this was awful. Co-worker order their salad. It was a side salad for $11.00. She had 1 tomato, 1 mushroom a little celery and 1 egg slices with 3 slices of chicken. I love , love, LOVE me some Apple Spice. This is my go-to place when I want to treat myself to a big, fantastic, decently priced lunch. I have gotten a few different items, but hands down the best thing on the menu is their club sandwich. It's got perfectly crispy cooked bacon strips, ham, turkey, cheddar, and lettuce on this amazingly soft honey-wheat bread, and comes with a side of their awesome homemade "signature sauce" to dip it in. Arguably as delicious as the sandwiches are the sides. I have tried the potato and the pasta salads and regularly crave them. SO FREAKING GOOD. The box lunches also come with a soft, delicous cookie and a yummy pickle and peppermint patty, and it all comes in an adorable cardboard box lunch with plasticware and a napkin. I like to order online on days when I know I'll have a busy lunch break so that I can just stop by and pick it up in between errands. Lucky for me, one of the 2 Apple Spice locations in all of VA is located 3 minutes from my workplace, but I think that I'd make the trek out for lunch even if it was a little further away. The food and fresh bread was amazing. My co-workers and I ordered box lunches and it was delicious. I had the chicken chipotle sandwich with the fresh veggies. The presentation of my meal is great along with the labeled ziplock bags made for an eye-ppetizing meal. I like that all the sauces were on the side in a well labeled container. I am a true convert. Let me say that the sandwich buffet which included bread, cheese, meats, pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes, a salad featuring their apple/ranch dressing, potato salad and cookies for dessert, was DELICIOUS!! Love the food, but hate their process and delivery on coporate lunches. It is nearly impossible to actually get a delivery slot you want for a specific lunch meeting since they send ALL their delivery orders out at the same time with the same driver. Definitely room for improvement here as I don't have this same problem when I order from other similar types of specialty sandwich/lunch places. read more
