As good as my old dentist who retired and started this whole search. Very glad that I chose this office when I needed a new dentist. When I called, Gloria answered the phone. She is the reason I initially chose this office. She continues to be a warm, efficient presence in the front office. Dr. Safa herself is thorough, takes her time and explains issues clearly. Angela, the Finance Manager, is a wonder. She works with you and knows her stuff. The chairside technicians have all been friendly and they work to make you comfortable. And a shout-out to Jesus especially, a pleasure to work with. They also have specialists that come in weekly - a root canal doctor and an implant doctor. I had a really excellent experience at Apple Dental. I went in for my first cleaning since before COVID-19. The cleaning was great, and all staff were friendly and professional. They found one cavity on the x-ray. I came back a week later to get the filling. I was anxious, because it was my first filling in over 20 years, and I am pretty scared of needles. Went to APPLE dental for a cleaning xray exam ..well right after exam without even looking in my my they said oh your gonna need a deep cleaning well thats why I'm here.. then she went on to explain that the deep cleaning was going to be $1100.. I started laughing.. Honestly, I struggle with my teeth but this dental office makes visiting the dentist a smooth and luxurious experience! Dr. Safa is calming, extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain everything before it happens. Angela, the office manager is also very organized, timely, and kind. I truly have had the best dental experience in my entire life. Not only that, I got two wisdom teeth pulled, one of which had a bad cavity which was causing me pain. This is the worst dental office I have ever been! I wish I read these reviews before I went! I changed insurance so I called them for a regular cleaning appointment. Like the other review says the minute I sat down there the lady started to recommend deep cleaning etc and started to brain wash me that people should spend money on teeth even the treatments are not covered by insurance. Apparently she knows my insurance doesn't cover much. I told her we can clean first today , later when we have the previous dentist fax over the x ray we can talk about the future treatments. She says oh my next patient comes at ten, I was like I scheduled a 9am appointment for cleaning , you were here just brain washing me so now you won't even do the cleaning? She said I have 15 minutes I can polish your teeth if you want! I said are you that's responsible fif your patient? 15 minutes polishing? Are you kidding me? Writing this from my son's account. I am a 70 year old retiree who came to Apple Dental after many years of neglecting my dental health. I am so glad I chose this office to seek the desparately needed care. Dr. Safa has put together a top-notch team across the board!! This is your one-stop shop for everything from general dentistry, to orthodontics and endodontics. I can personally attest to the high level of skills that all of the clinicians possess. I absolutely love my hygenist - she has "encouraged" & supported me back to a truly healthy/stable dental status. The dental assistants are incredible too. And last, I would be remiss if I didn't share that the entire staff from the moment you walk in, (from the Front Desk staff to my very special Back Office gal,) is professional and friendly. As mentioned in several other reviews their business practices are incompetent at best and intentionally deceptive at worst. Immediately after an appointment, they try to upsell you with an unnecessary procedure that you have to prepay for. Also, they will straight up overcharge you for procedures that insurance covers. Go somewhere else. Zero stars if possible. Came here for the first (and last) time. 1. Horrible/Incompetent dental skills. I have never had a painful routine check-up/cleaning procedure until I came here. She kept stabbing my gums to "measure" my gumline and caused bleeding. As for the cleaning, it felt like she was grinding as hard as possible to intentionally damage my teeth. It felt worse than a root canal, and this was supposed to be a regular cleaning. I have doubts of their certifications since it felt like I was getting serviced by someone who never went to dental school. 2. Scamming and fraud. My co-pay for an office visit is $5 but they billed me $53. When I found this out and called them, they claim that fluoride treatment is $48. However, my insurance does cover this and they still refuse to give me a refund! After trying to contact them, they refuse to cooperate by hanging up on me or not answering. So not only do they scam customers, but they commit insurance fraud too! My mistake was not reading the reviews before I went in. Now I'm worried my teeth are damaged and I have to get another exam. My husband and I just started going here and in the last month plus or minus a few days, I have had a cleaning, some amalgams removed, a cavity fixed and two old cavities replaced from whatever the ugly black plugs are. From start to finish on each visit I have been pleasantly greeted, treated and advised of what my visit will entail as well as future visits and what insurance will cover. This team is so cohesive and works so well with each other and the patient that I felt completely at ease. They are incredibly prompt, you barely sit down and you are called for your appointment on time. This has happened each time I have gone so far. They are incredibly diligent on reminders for your visits as well. One of the days that I went in the doctor was training a new employee and I was really impressed at how gentle she was guiding this new person. You could tell the doctor was really vested in her growth and the tech was following directions very well. I would highly recommend this office, they really have it together here and have made my husband and I feel very welcome. I truly appreciate that. The office manager is so knowledgeable about what our insurance will cover and the assistance we received from all other members was top notch too. The dentist is also extremely gentle and informs you of her moves while in your mouth. The techs seem to follow her lead and her mannerisms as well. I moved from Manhattan to Santa Clara. I had oral surgery and the surgeon works out of this Apple Dental office but this is not my regular dentist until now. Surgery was great but I had problems that needed to be addressed and the surgeon is only in this office on Wednesdays. But Jesus Martinez came to the rescue and helped me so much. He gave me great advice. He is very knowledable about procedures and so comforting and patient. He connected me with Dr. Safa Khaleel, the resident dentist at this practice, to help me. And then called me the next day to see how I was doing and because I was having some problems he set me up with an appointment with Dr. Khaleel who as I wrote is not my regular dentist. I came in and met with both Dr. Khaleel and Jesus Martinez and I couldn't have been in better hands. They are so kind and comforting and Dr. Khaleel checked everything out and alleviated my anxiety. She also offered to see me again in a few days to check everything out. Jesus then helped me further with all sorts of things I needed. If you want a great dental experience you could not do better than this practice. Dr. Khaleel and Jesus Martinez are the best team to give you the best dental experience. Stay away - this place is a scam! They will do a quick assessment on you, then tell you you need some major dental work done, then charge you for the full cost BEFORE you even get the procedure scheduled! This is very unorthodox and good dental practices do not do this. They also will tell you you need procedures that aren't covered by your insurance or that aren't standard care - they tried to charge me for sealants before I found out that my insurance company only covers sealants for children because it's not usually used on adults! This place will swindle you out of thousands of dollars before you've gotten any dental work done - stay away. read more

Wow, Stay away from this place!!! They do a quick assessment and find all kinds of things that you need like placing cadaver bone and doing extensive bone grafts. After being bullied and intimidated extensively they agreed I didn't really need it and went on to beef up my bill in other ways. Angela wouldn't tell me how much insurance would pay. She told me my 3,300.00 bill would have been over $5,000.00 if I didn't have insurance but refused to document it for me. They charge $380.00 for nitrous. The range for that service in santa clara county is $25-$100. Nitrous therapy is dirt cheap!!!! On my treatment plan to clean my teeth and fix 4 teeth cosmetically was over $10,000. Angela told me no insurance would pay to put antibiotic medicine on my teeth. Well the truth is they wouldn't pay because it was not medically indicated. They wanted to do work for advanced periodontal disease when I've never ever had gingivitis or any gumc disease. Look up the dental diagnostic codes on the internet. Don't trust these scam artists. Get a second opinion!! Also on one visit they put that I needed 2 nitrous treatments for a total of $736.00 for nitrous for one visit!!! It probably cost them $2.00 or less. BEWARE! (ZERO stars) They are dishonest. Make sure you know your insurance and confirm with them before you pay for anything here. It's borderline fraudulent billing practices. They will try to deceive you. I have never had a copay in my 10 years with my current insurance. This was my first time at Apple Dental and they told me I had a 40$ copay. When I questioned this I was just told it was for part of the treatment (??????huh, mind you I'm getting a regular cleaning). I pushed further and she said it's for fluoride. And I said I've never been offered or told about fluoride treatment before, why is this coming up now? The other receptionist turned around and said "ask the hygienist and she can explain it."(in not so nice tone) My response was "oh so it's optional" meaning I don't actually need this. And she replied to me saying "well everything is optional, like you being here is optional." (excuse me?) How can you call yourselves a respectable dental practice when you speak to patients this way. And instead of explaining any cost or copays you try and deceive them? Absolute 0 stars if possible. Went here about 2 years ago and would not go back again (writing this now as I was previously only able to go to this practice). They tried to tell me I had like 8 cavities that needed filling and the beginnings of gum disease (never heard this before from any other dentist). As I only had insurance for this place I decided to go with 2 of the "worst" teeth and have them filled. It cost about 400 for each tooth after insurance and they didn't even do the filling right! The filling was so jagged and rough that it cut my tongue, they didn't sand it down correctly and filled past the tooth to the gap between the teeth. Asked for my X-ray scans a year and a half later and sent in a signed consent form for them to send the scans by mail and they never did. Do not recommend: they'll try and upsell you on problems you don't have and won't do a good job. read more

I wrote a review after my first few experiences at Apple Dental (I am a patient there) about a year and a half ago. I gave a strongly positive review then, and my experience over the intervening time has not changed. I am extremely happy with my experience as a patient at Apple Dental. Everyone is incredibly friendly and my cleanings have been the least painful of any dental office I have gone to. I could not imagine a better experience. Many of the negative reviews seem to be centered around a lack of clarify of the importance of treatments or their costs. I do not want to diminish any of those experiences, but I feel it is important to mention that in the two cases of my non-standard appointments, one for considering Invisalign and one for deep cleaning, they were very clear about the purpose of each treatment, whether or not it was necessary, and the cost of the procedure. There was such clear intent about clarity of purpose and cost that I was surprised, until seeing some of these reviews, in response to which I expect they are even more careful. I recommended this office to my girlfriend, and she has been a patient there for over a year and she is equally extremely happy with her experience. I would strongly recommend Apple Dental to anyone. I moved to Santa Cruz last year, and have kept using Apple Dental, despite the drive, because of their all around quality. read more

I moved to the area and went to Apple Dental for my first appointment and was told I needed ~$5,000 worth of work! Because Yelp doesn't allow bold italicized underlines, I'll say it again: FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS OF DENTAL WORK. They spent a lot of time looking at photos with me, explaining the work that needed to be done (i.e. justifying the crazy amount of work - warning sign #1). Then they tried to get me to buy the whole package of work for 10% off IF I paid upfront right then and there (warning sign #2). Thankfully I went to another trusted dentist who was SHOCKED at the treatment plan this place outlined. I need to replace a couple old fillings but none of the root canal + work Apple Dental tried to sell me on. They're one of the few places that takes my DMO insurance, but it is much cheaper to pay $400 out of pocket than the copay on $5,000. If I could leave less stars, I would! This place is fraudulent and an abuse on patients. Their business license should be revoked! I have a regular qualified dentist I go to for many years and my teeth have always been in great condition. However, my new job only offered a HMO dental plan and so I went for a cleaning at Apple Dental in 2019 as it was near my home. I just needed a cleaning so how bad can the experience be (I thought)? From the moment I walked through the door, it was a horrible experience. They had trouble processing my insurance so I ended up paying out of pocket. They took x-rays. Then the cleaning was very brief, lacked effort and my teeth still felt dirty. If that was not enough, they went on and on about a laundry list of work my teeth needed which I found shocking because I never needed dental work prior. They insisted that I book a follow-up appointment to have all this work done. I told them that I am not impressed with the quality of the cleaning and I have doubts about the work my teeth 'need.' So I'll call you if needed, don't call me. I asked Apple Dental to email me the x-rays they took and give me a list of all the work I needed. I took all this info to my trusted life-long dentist and he said the x-rays are blurry and you cannot see anything conclusive from the x-rays Apple Dental took. I also gave him the list of work that Apple dental said I needed and he said I do NOT have those issues and that my teeth are still some of the best he's seen. I was shocked and appalled that Apple Dental would lie so blatantly about patient care and more so, damage people's good teeth in order to turn a buck! This is patient abuse! I feel sorry for people who have great teeth or the elderly who may fall for their lies! I never had a patient experience like this before and I hope I never do again. I've been coming here for about a year, mostly for routine cleaning. The ladies at the front desk are cheery and pleasant. The hygienists and dentist who have worked on me are all friendly and easy to talk to. Pretty straightforward and no extra fuss, so that I could be in and out of there in a flash. I went for a first visit, called well in advance to find out what would be my out of pocket expenses. When I got the bill, it turned out to be nearly double of what I was told earlier. When I called and asked about it, they started giving excuses saying your insurance didn't pay. Wasn't that the reason to call them and ask my out of pocket expense in the first place? If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I left the dental office feeling humiliated and embarrassed. I'm not even sure who I had as my dental hygienist but she continuously made me feel like my dental hygiene was the worst she had ever seen and that I needed an $800 deep clean plus a $1000 gum repair kit. However, when the main doctor came to check out my teeth, she mentioned nothing and said my teeth looked great... how does that work?! I was mortified that it was my FIRST VISIT and that's the treatment I got. I went to my childhood dentist and he was shocked with what was told to me. I can't begin to explain how awful the entire experience was and I was there for less than an hour. Save yourself the trauma because you can tell they work off commission there. read more

STAY AWAY! unless you want them to replace healthy teeth with unnecessary crowns, "onlays" etc. First, she found a very small chip in one of my teeth I didn't even realize was there and was told I needed an onlay. Unfortunately, I took her word for it and expected her to cover it with something (i.e. put something "on" the tooth). Instead, she completely obliterated my tooth with her drill and replaced it with a composite resin. $500 w/ insurance. I would have been fine without the onlay, but I guess I can blame myself for researching it only after she robbed me of a perfectly good tooth. However, when she subsequently told me that I needed a filling and a crown I was wary. She pointed to my X-rays and said "you see that? that's the decay". Lying straight to my face. I asked if my insurance would cover it and the dentist disappeared and some lady from the back office that I've never met before appeared and said "we'll have to file a claim and it will take ~3 weeks, you should just have the work done and worry about the insurance later". Yeah right. I had my X-rays sent to another dentist and went in for an exam and they were simply incredulous. They said "what filling? what crown?" DON'T TRUST the 5 star Yelp reviews. Notice who is posting them and when they are posted. It's usually someone's 1st post right after a 1star review like my own (I don't post anything on Yelp, but felt I had an obligation to help steer people away from these crooks). They are clearly trying to manipulate their ratings. I have been visiting apple dental for more than a year now. This covers 2 regular cleaning visits and one oral surgery to remove my wisdom teeth. Yeah, I am too old for this but whatever. (The teeth didn't bother me at all.) Much of this review is based on my most recent visit to get my wisdom teeth extracted. My dentist recommended I get that done and I setup an appointment to meet with a dental surgeon. He basically listed three different options for sedation and I opted for complete sedation. He then asked me to fast for 12 hours before the surgery and I was given a quote. My out of pocket expenses turned out be around 350$. I agreed for everything and setup an appointment for a month later. I paid 50$ out of pocket for this appointment. One week before the surgery appointment, I confirmed that I am going to be there and a day before called front desk and asked whether I am allowed to drink water during my fast etc. Got some reasonable answers. Followed instructions. Fast forward to the surgery date, I went in (15 minutes before appointment) and after 45 minutes, the office manager tells me that I was given the wrong quote and complete sedation would cost 600$. I was a little shocked. This was all very confusing. I told them I fasted for 12 hours as per instructions for full sedation. I even confirmed the appointment a week back and also called the office. They had plenty of chances to fix this if there had been a mistake. Funny thing is they didn't even have the sedation machine in the office. So why would they even list that as an option for patients? I was pretty pissed and explained everything to the surgeon who basically shoulder shrugged and told me "I just work here and I don't deal with office stuff". In all fairness, the surgeon was right. I had taken a day off and fasted 12 hours and arranged for someone to pick me up. I just didn't want to pay the 600$. I protested about them sticking to the price and another 15 mins later, they said they'd do it for 500$ but I have to go out and come back in another couple of hours. I still don't understand why I went with nitrous oxide but I did. I wanted to cross off this thing badly. The surgery went fine and the doctor checked back to enquire how I am doing and everything. The doctor who runs the facility (Dr. Khaleel) also apologized for the confusion and gave me a `make it up to` gift (A 100$ worth electric toothbrush with bluetooth and real time view of my brushing. Yeah, I need that in my life.). I don't know what to make of this facility. The front office is a complete mess. Appointments don't happen on time. This is a sharp contrast to the previous dental office I was seeing. Everything was timely and they had better online system. I picked apple dental because I moved to South Bay and they are closer to where I live. Suggestions to improve: 1. A proper online system for appointments, estimated costs etc. 2. A reminder system for appointments that doesn't involve phone calls. 3. Timely appointments. I do understand this depends on other patients too. 4. Advertise only what you can do. Have equipments ready. 5. Private space when I am getting my cleaning done. Seems 101. The space is wide open. 6. For love of God, 23 inch tvs cost like 100$ these days. Mount some and screen some movies when I am getting my teeth cleaned :P. Dr. Khaleel promised me that things are going to get better. I really hope they do. I do like my dentist (Dr. Agarwal) and my surgeon (Dr. Phan). I am sure visiting dentists probably goes to the bottom of "list of fun things I want to do in my life". At least make sure we don't hate you more than we need to :P. All that said, I am still going to give them a chance and update the review when suggestions are taken care of. I was a patient at Apple dental between 2012 and 2013. During those years, I saw a total of 3 very competent dentists and received all sorts of dental care, cleanings, cavity repair, crown, onlay and an implant. There was only one hiccup with the implant crown being too small and eventually broke. Dr Khaleel replaced it with a completely new crown at no cost which is great because it is not always easy to deal with insurances. Dr. Khaleel at Apple rocks. I went there a week ago to get my regular checkup and cleanup. The location is in the strip mall at the intersection of Grant/El Camino. It took me a minute to find it since there is another dental place right by it as well. Once I got in, I did the usual forms. I was then moved to the dental throne and had my x-rays taken. I was able to see my x-ray results as they were taken which was super cool (not that they meant anything to me). Dr. Khaleel then came in and after the customary chit chat she got straight to work. She went through a full cleaning of my teeth and then also checked em out for gum disease. Process went very smoothly. On my way out, I was gifted an oral-b toothbrush (my fav brand). All in all, as smooth a process as one can ask for. And best of all, the traffic back to the city was a doozy. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Khaleel for about 4 years now. She is amazing! Always greets you with a smile and makes you feel comfortable during the visit. She is very accommodating for appointments specially short notice if your in pain. The staff at Apple Dental have been very patient, courteous and professional during all my visits. They have some very sophisticated equipment like Panasonic X-ray and and some 3D imaging machine that prints a ceramic tooth after my root canal. It was very cool to watch them print out a tooth for me. In conclusion I would highly recommend Apple Dental! read more

Please stay away from this one. I was referred to this place by my dentist. Before I make the reservation, they were saying my out-of-pocket expense is $50, and I called one day before to double confirmed it.
