Apple cake, not worth seven dollars and didn't even taste like Apple, it taste like nut spice cake
Terri M.

I saw this place on tiktok and had it bookmarked for awhile. I bought the tea room medley and the apple cake. I was disappointed with the apple cake. It didn't even taste like apple and no apple chunks. It tasted more of a nut spice cake, and waste worth $7 for the slice. But the tea room trio.... OMG yummy. I don't normally eat chicken salad but it was bomb...... I want more of that for sure! I don't like celery but it had it in it and it was fine. The banana bread w cream cheese in the middle was nice and moist, very very good1

Such a treat! Warm, cozy atmosphere, friendly service and wonderful food! I had the Tea Room Medley on their Specials menu. Delicious coffee, too!! So good!

If you are missing your granny, Apple Cake Tea Room would be a great place to go and enjoy a yummy lunch while you mull over sweet memories. You're likely to find many patrons of your granny's age there, and it's such a friendly atmosphere that they might even let you join their table if you're feeling especially lonely. The apple kitsch and cutesy decorations are not for everybody (much like the glazed fruit--you either love it or hate it), but the chicken salad, friendship tea, and banana bread sandwiches are worth a visit, and the service is always welcoming and quick. Bran muffins aren't usually a big draw for me, but the mini muffins and sweet cream butter here are a highlight. We always purchase an extra half dozen to go for the next morning's breakfast. The medley is a safe place to start if you aren't sure what's good, but really all the options are pretty much guaranteed to be good. Like everywhere else, prices here have risen sharply, so a lunch for two will cost $45-50 with tip for 2 people. If you come during lunch time, expect to wait, and the waiting area can quickly become crowded. They bus and clean tables quickly, though, so waits are never terribly long.

Second time here and even though the atmosphere is quaint and it has a feel women love.. their window in from 11:00 -2:00 and no reservations under 5 people! Honestly I think and from what I see it's more ladies like 2! It's where you go with a girlfriend for lunch... and shopping! 25 minute wait... little room to sit and wait, the Knoxville growth has taken the charm away as far as a quaint lunch with little time for conversation if your not the first group seated...we arrived 12:30... seated 1:15 or so, getting to know each other and sharing photos and such over lunch and it was clean up time! Ok maybe we need to go else where if we want to dine and chat for awhile. I had BLT ... plain wheat thin bread a slice of orange, pickle and chips .. she had chicken salad on a croissant a tomatoes slice and lettuce leaf and chips ... coffee... no speciality flavors or cream... ice tea the same basic!!! ITS A TEA HOUSE! And too cute not to add some extra strokes to the coffee and tea selection. Menu says a special I believe muffin of some sort with your lunch... didn't see it. Basically $ 15.00 apiece! I'm sorry but I paid for the name and cute decor... not the food. Service was good once you got in but again, the place drips of charm but.....the package isn't there.

Cutest restaurant in the area! The service is outstanding, the food is DELICIOUS, and the atmosphere has allllll the southern charm! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! And try their spice tea! Mmm mmm

Bravo! Beef Gravy! It certainly is. Bravo !

I tell you what. This place is a charmer. I was treated to one of their delicious specialties. It was truly delicious and special. Spiced sweet tea, it was. Glazed fruit, it is. Chicken salad with a side of banana bread. That was heavenly. Bravo Beef Gravy with a stuffed potato is what it claims to be. I was going to get the apple cake but now I'm stuffed. Just go and do it. This place makes me feel like a lady. UPDATE!!!!! I changed this from a 4 star to a 5 star because I had a beautiful dream about Apple Cake Tea Room last night. If a place makes you dream about it, they deserve 5 stars!

Complimentary bran muffins with honey butter while you wait for meal.

Wasn't impressed. The food was average, the service was as well. I'm not sure how they rank a 90% rating--I'd give it a 75.

Cocktails were well done and the wine pairings recommended astute. Nothing to complain about except some of the items were cold - there was one person serving the entire bar and restaurant and obviously had some timing issues. Also some attitude: after delivering cocktails to my wife and me he forgot her mom's - after I reminded him he said "oh I know" and then proceeded to serve four other patrons' order at the bar and then another two top's before even starting hers. It finally arrived after the cold mushrooms were delivered. I'm chalking this up to a short staffed situation and a specific individual, so if you live nearby or are traveling through looking for a nice spot for dinner or lunch I would definitely recommend. The environment is also very pleasant with a nice bar and dining room of high top tables.

It's a great place to go to get a lot of southern comfort foods, some with nice twists as well, and it has a full bar, and open for all meals I believe. We went years ago to the first location in Knoxville, maybe a few times, but felt "been there done that" as more and more good restaurants came downtown. Happy to see this new location, closer to a lot of things we do in west Knox. I had a GREAT lunch. Bloody Mary, then one of their low-cost specials ($11 for a half sandwich and side, basically). The sandwich was hot chicken with ranch and pickles and it was scrumptious. I had a problem choosing sides- so many great options including brussel sprouts, fried okra, Mac&cheese and salads.....I finally chose the green beans with bacon. Oh, they were soooo good. I could have made my meal just that and some cornbread. Next time I may get a veggie platter or just get extra sides, gotta try the others to see if they are cooked as well. So how can I not give that 5 stars?

The sauce in their $16 fettuccine alfredo tasted like cream, flour, and giving up. The chicken in it (that cost $4 extra) tasted like it was made in a kitchen that outlawed all seasonings. For $20, I expect a dish that can't be replicated with water and a bottle of Elmers glue. I've had more flavorful alfredo sauce from an MRE. The $15 burger was slightly overcooked and a little dry. But the BBQ sauce helped cover the dryness and lack of seasoning. I've had better burgers for less, but I've also paid more for worse. Same goes for the $15 chicken sandwich we ordered except it's sauce didn't help much. Overall, the burger and sandwich were OK but overpriced (especially the chicken) for what we got. On a positive note, the service and atmosphere were good. However, I would highly recommend just about anywhere else in Loudon to eat. This place doesn't even serve the best burger on 72 between hwy 11 and I-75 (their only competition is Wendy's and McDonald's).

My spouse could only say "disappointing" about his. He ordered Thunder Road Chicken Nachos and a Caesar Salad. The Thunder sauce only penetrated the first layer of chips, so he requested another mini-ramekin (an extra 50 cents). A layer of raw (not pickled) jalapeño slices, some with seeds, dotted the top of the dish and was too hot for his taste, even with a ramekin of sour cream to soften the heat. And the Caesar salad: Unfortunately the greens became rather limp (lacked crunchiness) when coated with an oil-and-vinegar-tasting dressing. Thankfully a generous sprinkling of fresh Parmesan cheese and ample croutons completed the salad and made it acceptable. Not yet no least was our attentive server, whose name sounds like rain, treated us well.

Right when we walked in, we were asked if we had a reservation. It was our first time, so we didn't realize one was needed. When I said no and asked if we should have had one, the host responded, "Oh, that would have helped." That alone felt a little off-putting. We even offered to come back another time, but she said they had a table available--just that it was reserved for 1:00 PM (it was 11:55). We asked if that meant we'd need to leave by then, and while they tried to reassure us, it definitely set the tone for a rushed experience. We had barely sat down when the waitress immediately asked if we were ready to order. Caught off guard, we asked for water and coffee first. As soon as those arrived, we quickly ordered beignets, chicken and waffles, and biscuits and gravy--trying to be mindful of their time constraint. Unfortunately, our food took over 35 minutes to come out... which didn't align at all with the expectation that we'd be out before 1:00. When it finally arrived, the food was underwhelming at best. The chicken was okay, but the waffles and biscuits and gravy were cold. And the service? Just as cold. Overall, the experience felt rushed, unwelcoming, and disappointing from start to finish. Needless to say, we won't be returning. I truly hope they reconsider how they treat guests--especially first-time visitors who come in excited to try their restaurant.
