Great service, great food. Amazing bread! That I asked for some to go and made French toast the next day! Highly recommend!

I've been to Lakeside a few times now, and I have to say -- I've yet to have anything less than an enjoyable experience. There's plenty of seating throughout the restaurant, and no matter where you sit, the views are lovely. But if the weather's nice, definitely grab a spot on the patio -- it's hands-down the best. As the sun sets, the atmosphere becomes absolutely picturesque. The waitstaff here has been consistently on point every time I've visited -- knowledgeable, attentive, and proactive without hovering. They've always made sure our drinks stayed full, our food came out just right, and that everything was satisfying. The bar deserves its own shoutout. Whether you order something from the menu or ask for a classic, they execute cocktails beautifully. I always feel confident ordering here, knowing I won't be let down. As for the food, I have to admit -- I've only had the trout for dinner because it's that good. It's become my go-to, and honestly, it's hard to find anything comparable elsewhere. We've sampled a few starters too -- the calamari was perfectly done, though I wasn't quite as enthusiastic about the shrimp. Still enjoyable overall! I wouldn't hesitate to come back anytime, and it's definitely a spot I'd bring friends or family to. Just a heads-up: this place gets busy! There's usually a wait, and I'm not sure if they take reservations (something I'll check next time). My advice? Put your name on the list and enjoy a cocktail at the bar while you wait -- it's worth it!

Came to the Lakeside Tavern with my spouse and father during the Christmas holiday. The food was good and I regret not taking pictures. The server brought us bread and butter that was delicious. I had the citrus shrimp over rice with a side salad. My father and spouse had the veal parmigiana with different sides such as rice, mashed potatoes with gravy, carrots, green beans. We opted out of dessert as we were full. I would definitely reserve a patio table when we return during warmer weather. The outside space has some beautiful views.

Caribbean Jerk Chicken with broccoli and sweet potato casserole.

Oh man! I told my husband this is now my new favorite place to eat in Knoxville! Everything about it was wonderful- the atmosphere (we ate outside on the covered patio), the service, and the FOOD! Oh man, so very good!! We were there for lunch. We split the Caribbean Jerk Chicken. It comes with sweet potato casserole and broccoli. The chicken came split from the kitchen. One plate had the sweet potatoes and the other had the broccoli. We split those on our own. I almost forgot one of the best parts-the freshly baked bread! It was so soft and came with some whipped butter. Curse you Lakeside Tavern-we would have had a healthy meal without it. But thanks for indulging us! We also both ordered the side salads sans the feta! The dressing--mine was lite raspberry vinaigrette and my hubs ordered the honey mustard --tasted homemade and were delicious. Our server was Chris and he was a great server!! Note: As you're driving through the beautiful area to get here don't assume that the prices are too expensive. The lunch menu is very expansive and very reasonably priced. No idea about dinner however.

Snapper

With stellar views high above Fort London Lake, this is a sprawling restaurant features excellent service and a tremendous variety on the menu. It's a little secret only locals tend to know about. The snapper was the special of the night, and I love fish! Unfortunately, the snapper I ordered came out overcooked, dry, and partially burned. Even prepared correctly, the quality of the fish was not great. The fries are stellar and highly recommended as are the onion rings, some of the best I've ever had! The key lime pie was unique and not exactly like the authentic versions in Florida. But it was different in a good way, full of flavor with multiple textures. It was very tasty and recommended for fans of key lime pie. They don't take reservations and get very full by 6:30 p.m. on any night. So I'd get there early!

Spinach dip

The food was good.. just wish the pasta had a little more seasoning especially the grilled chicken. The Hawaiian sirloin was chef kiss i love ribeyes. But this sirloin was probably the best. The spinach dip was delicious. Love how the restaurant is near the water. There was such beautiful views:

Interior was very nice and the hostesses/hosts were very friendly. Server seemed distracted when dealing with us. We never even got a bread basket even though other tables around us received them. Food was good. The pasta portions were giantic, ribs were fall of the bone and the burger was delicious.

Pretzels and beer cheese and chips appetizer

My husband and I came for Valentine's Day this year. As usual, the crab cakes are delicious. The bread is good and the crème brûlée was yummy. We got the strawberry cake and brought it home for the kids, it was good. The servers were nice and the ambiance and outside the lake is beautiful.

Lake view

An oldie but goodie! It has been years since we ate here still as wonderful as my memory!! The best wedge salad in Knox county for sure ! The burger is not too bad either make sure you say yes to the bread ... great views of the lake from any seat in the house.

Cilantro Lime Grilled Shrimp
Kaitlyn S.

Came for dinner with friends. I think maybe I ordered wrong because they sang the praises. Unfortunately, my cilantro shrimp was less than desirable as it tasted far too salty and not enough cilantro or lime. Even as request for extra sauce yielded indeed the sauce was quite salty. The bread that comes complimentary however was PHENOMENAL! Our server Connor was very kind and we did enjoy the views from the patio!

Specials for the day!

It was about 3:00 and the restaurant was on a 45 minute wait. We decided to sit at the bar and have an appetizer while we waited for our table. They were unusually busy because of college graduations. We had a shrimp appetizer which was recommended by the bartender. It was delicious! It had the right amount of spice for us. Our table was ready right as we finished our appetizer. The hostess was very polite and asked us if we were celebrating anything special.. We were promptly greeted by our server Elisabeth who was wonderful. She told us the specials and inquired if it was our first visit. We ordered the espresso rubbed ribeye w/ a baked potato & Caesar salad. We decided to share a steak and ordered an extra wedge salad. Everything was delicious. The steak was a perfect medium. The butter that is served with the bread is heavenly. I was thrilled with my Caesar salad that had anchovies on top. My wedge salad was amazing. This was one of the best steaks we have ever had. OMG, the food was phenomenal. The steak was cooked to perfection with homemade Boursin cheese. The Sea Bass was probably the best fish dish I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, crab and grilled asparagus was just delicious. The Asiago creamed spinach and the rice pilaf were both excellent as well. The rice was different than any I've ever had. It had dried blueberries, red peppers, onions and pepitas in it. Absolutely delicious. Glad we saved room for dessert. German Chocolate cake was just as good as everything else. Not Watson's? More Like... Not Worth It…read more Sometimes in life you have to listen to that inner voice. The one that quietly nudges you in another direction. The one I ignored today when I chose Not Watson's instead of following my true spirit to the Old City for a vegan tamale that had been pressing on my psyche all morning. But I ignored it. So here we are. This happened Wednesday, March 4, 2026. I was downtown on Market Square for a business meeting. The weather was nice, I had already paid to park, and the craving for fish and chips got the best of me. Not Watson's was close, so it seemed like the logical choice. But when the vibe is off... the vibe is off. Around 1:05 PM there was a line at the door. One party of four, two additional parties of two, and then me -- the solo diner. While we were standing there waiting, two women from one of the parties asked if I was waiting on someone. When I told them no, they kindly invited me to sit with them. A thoughtful gesture. But I declined. Maybe if I had accepted, I might have received better service. Ah yes... the small pitfalls of solo dining. What made things odd was that the place didn't even appear busy. Several different servers came to the front to seat people, but there was no hostess and tables still needed to be cleaned before anyone could sit. I almost left. My instincts were already whispering, go get that tamale instead. But the pull for fish and chips was strong, so I thought, forget it -- I'll wait. When my turn finally came I was asked, "Outside? High-top? Or a table in the back?" Well damn. It felt a little like I was being strategically placed out of sight, so I chose the table in the back. Walking through the restaurant I again noticed it really wasn't busy. Then I sat. And sat. Ten minutes went by with no greeting, no water, no acknowledgment. So I did what anyone would do -- I watched the TV in front of me. At that point the urge to leave was getting stronger, but me being me thought, let me give this another second. That's when a gentleman from the kitchen came over. He introduced himself and said he noticed no one had waited on me yet and didn't want me sitting there hungry, so he took my order. He mentioned my server would come by shortly. Spoiler alert: my server never actually showed up. I later learned my server was also bartending. Eventually my food arrived -- three pieces of fish, fries, and coleslaw (which unfortunately had absolutely no flavor). By this point I was hungry, so I dug in. First problem: the fish was fried way too hard, almost burnt. Second problem: the fries were so salty they could probably raise your blood pressure on sight. But the real issue? The fish had zero taste. None. If the fish had actually tasted good, crispy or otherwise, I probably would have eaten it anyway. But this was like chewing overcooked cardboard. When the gentleman came back, I showed him the fish and he immediately saw the problem. He said he would alert the kitchen. He kindly offered a complimentary dessert (declined) and offered to have the fish and chips remade (also declined). At that point I had lost my appetite. When the check arrived, it was half-price. Now here's where the math didn't quite math. You were willing to remake the entire meal, yet I paid half price for a plate where I ate one piece of fish and a few fries, after spending most of my visit waiting to be acknowledged. So I paid my $9, left a tip, and got the heck out of there. As I was leaving he said, "Hopefully we'll get it right next time." Next time? I left just as hungry as I arrived. The only silver lining of the entire experience was remembering I had half a Butterfinger sitting in my desk drawer back at work. Now that lit me up. Unfortunately, between the awkward service, the overcooked fish, and leaving just as hungry as I came, this is one fish-and-chips stop I won't be revisiting.

Flip your coaster to green and the onslaught begins; flip it to red only if you're weak or lying to yourself. The picanha is absolute perfection: juicy, rosy, with that salty-charred fat cap that makes grown adults moan out loud. The filet mignon (both plain and bacon-wrapped) melts like Wagyu butter. The garlic beef is aggressively delicious, the lamb chops are minted and smoky, and the house-special Alcatra top sirloin keeps coming until you beg for mercy. We had heard of this place for a while and wanted to check it out and we're so glad we did. The food and service were amazing. I had a question between two drinks and the server was very good at describing the drinks and ultimately decided to try the Darryl Strawberry, while my husband got the Nor'easter. The drinks came out and they were really good. They weren't overly strong, you could taste the bourbon in each of them, but it wasn't overpowering. For food we got the OPA! to start and then the Billy for me and the Mother Clucker for him. The OPA was awesome. It's pan seared feta with honey and served with fresh bread. The honey added a little extra sweetness to the feta which went really nicely with the crusty bread. The Billy had goat cheese, bacon, onions and, a tomato jam on it. It was delicious. The creamy goat cheese with the bacon and smokey tomato jam all went amazingly together. I got onion rings as my side, which were crunchy hot and so so good. The Mother Clucker was also really good. I only had a bite of it to try, but was definitely impressed. My husband upgraded to the duck fat fries which were out of this world. Super crunchy, great flavor. Our server kept checking back on us the whole time making sure we were satisfied with our drinks and food, but we had absolutely no complaints. I have to state my bias upfront - my favorite French chef in the world is chef Ludo and I have gone to several of his restaurants. I rate every French onion soup to his. The way the restaurant prepares the soup is they put the soup and cheese in the bowl and then drown it in some type of liquor like a cognac or brandy. Then they light the top of the soup on fire, which is supposed to present the melted cheese while at the same time burning off the alcohol. The soup I got tasted so much of alcohol. I could not eat it. And it was a little bit skimpy on the cheese.
