The last trip however, we were duped! We purchased items from an upstairs "antique" case from a bottle guy that were from the museum of modern art! We didn't see the very small marking in the very bad lighting until retuning home. We paid $54 total and called and asked to speak with the manager. We explained the way that the items were displayed were "very dubious and misleading!" The manager understood and said it was "unfortunate " to have a problem with this vendor, he was "hard to deal with!" This was a bad time also as they close out the monies to the vendors at the end of the month. This purchase was the end of February. I explained I could not return until mid March for a refund, which she agreed I should receive! She said she would have him, Mr. "Hard to deal with" give her cash for my reimbursement! We returned and to our horror I was given my refund and then told we weren't allowed to shop anywhere in the entire establishment again!!! Are you serious!! I wouldn't of wasted 60$ in gas round trip! I would of went through my credit card company for a fraudulent sale! We had purchased from at least 6 other vendors during our visits. How is it fair to them to not receive our future business!? How is it fair to our friends that introduced us to the business to be tossed out?! What is wrong with the management in this business? How do you not protect your entire umbrella of vendors? This is the first time being a customer I have Ever Been Escorted out of a Business and treated so unprofessionally! I'm not done with this business! I'm going to the BBB, the local newspaper and their local government officials! It's set up so a large number of different vendors rent space and set up their area themselves and set their own prices. The system means that you can find a huge variety of stuff... it's the sort of place I love browsing through most. It's also a large space, with multiple rooms. I ended up dropping $100 that I hadn't meant to spend - but I also feel that it was half the price I'd have paid elsewhere for a similar item, so I'm quite delighted. (Note, however, that they don't take AmEx, and they're apparently not willing to cut you a break on the prices (or even the tax) if you pay cash. There's a similar place just two doors down called the Millbrook Antiques Mall. I didn't have time to browse there... but if you're not on a schedule, you definitely want to check out both!

We restored a large, old house, originally a weekend house. At first, we needed inexpensive items to fill gaps and Bowen Barn was there for us. Later, when our finished house became a primary residence, we upgraded in quality and again, Bowen was there. We make a point to stop by occasionally because they might very well have taken in an antique curiosity that fills a need.
