Great store. Beyond just a simple Apple store. It's a landmark and in the most beautiful spot or Amsterdam. Super open and well laid out. Nice views everywhere. Tram stop out front. Bike parking underneath the plein. Free. Staff is friendly, intelligent, relaxed and there to help us, not over sell or upsell. I haven't been in this store in two years since before COVID but in an hour I caught up with all the latest technologies. I'm so excited about Apple again and can't wait to return here to buy more. Less than 2 weeks old iPhone 14 screen just died. Apple support replace the display and not the device. You sold a broken device (as it appears, you do it more and more, a lot more) BUT I didn't even get an apology. It is fine, it is normal. The customer can get stuck without a cell, waste time, money etc. and it is fine. You replaced the screen due to selling a broken iPhone but you never bothered to put a new protective glass, the customer will buy a new one, this is OK. You should have said that you are sorry and replace the device with another with your head down, disgrace. shame on you. I have 5 MacBooks, 4 iPads, 7 active iPhones at home. But I had it. No more apple for me. And being on Twitter I can tell that many loyal customers are leaving you. I was loyal since the first iPhone but it is over. Shame on you! read more

I don't know why but from their start, yes, I have been and am an Apple fan. I like the customer friendliness, the fact that you can call for help ad nauseam, that they are becoming greener, and the interface and seamless cross device i tegration and updates of, well, anything. This mega store in downtown Amsterdam has a dynamite location, next to the Hotel Americain (luxuruous) and the Stadschouwburg (concert hall for weekly classical music, every Sunday morning). There is a parking garage nearby, but at Amsterdam rates, something like €8 ($10) an hour, we always take the train in. I don't know if they comp that, but we weren't asked so I would think not. Staff are great, beautiful presentation, and my issues are always fixed. The bathrooms were clean and locked. What more do you want as a consumer? Well, having said that, I do wish Pages had more of the Word dox features and handiness in posting screen shots (you have to return through the space to create it). read more

First time deeply disappointing experience: lack of quality and service For 22 years I have been an Apple adept and promotor pur sang praising the far better quality of the products and the even better service at the apple store to all my family and friends and whomever wanted to hear it converting hardcore windowers and androidees to become Apple freaks. Alas our 2016 and 2017 macbook pro's have had problems with the keyboard from the start as they all had because of an inferior design. And now one has the screen black out problem these models also all have, a design flaw as well, widely discussed on the net. Today, instead of Apple being the Apple I used to know, recognize the issue being a design flaw and deal with it as they used to (giving the best service by fixing it without hesitation and with that having the best consumer relation ever), today Apple did not live up to the quality I think I pay for when choosing premium products with price tags alike. When I brought it in for service since it is a design flaw the costs were all politely played back to me anyway. Approximately 500 euro without a blink. My first deeply disappointing experience with what once was an ultra premium quality brand with even better service. This store is set to change the retail business in Amsterdam. Every evening is 'koopavond' now that there is an official Apple Store in Amsterdam. No more waiting until Thursday to get that new iPad or iPhone. I have been to more than a dozen Apple Stores in the last few years, but have never seen one with such exuberance and elegance. Of course, there is also the staple Genius bar, the friendly staff, the mobile points of sale, the awesome demo gadgets, and the secret desire to have unlimited cash to buy everything inside. But, this latest Apple Store is made to scale with the awesomeness known as life in Amsterdam. The glass staircase is wonderful and easily visible from even the outside of the store. What better way to spend an hour than going up and down on that marvel of a staircase, taking pictures. The Genius Bar is probably the biggest I have ever seen. Hello same day troubleshooting! An Apple Store in Amsterdam wouldn't do justice unless it catered to almost every country in Europe. Amsterdam, after-all, is one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world. No surprise then that the 300+ staff at the store is able to help out loyal Apple fans in 14 different languages. Yes, you read that right. This is great. There's also the free wifi, ample sitting space, and numerous tables for you to try out things you just learned at the regular workshops. Kids getting cranky from all the walking around the city? Just have them play a game or two on the iMacs in the kids section. They wouldn't want to go anywhere else! The Leidseplein area is no longer limited to being an 'entertainment area'. I was in Amsterdam for 7 days for work and getting all sorts of other errands done before I headed back to No Man's land. I have the amazing ability to destroy any Apple product that comes through my hands. I cracked my ipad screen and shortly after, it just decided to power off and was no longer functional. In 7 days, I found myself in this store 3 times. Wow, I am a serious loser. The first experience I had, it was a five star experience. The guy who helped me was able to power on my ipad immediately and also showed me all sorts of things on my ipad. He was patient and helpful, and not to mention, a very handsome blonde Dutch man. He scheduled for me to come into the Genius Bar so that I could figure out what to do with the cracked ipad. OK, second visit wasn't bad. Probably a 4 star experience. No hotties to be found, but helpful staff. I was told I could either give them my cracked ipad and they will give me a new one as a replacement (289 Euros) or keep it (as it stilled worked) and buy another ipad (350 Euros for ipad mini). I had to think about this as I wasn't sure what to do. Also, I have an ipod that I destroyed while running, so the backlight doesn't work and basically ,on its death bed. I asked if I could get it fixed and I also got the same answer. I went home and mulled over my options. Third visit. Super fail. Absolutely did not like the guy who helped me. He was in such a rush (now granted they were busy), but he also said he could only help me with one device. I told him I was on a time constraint and would be flying back to Africa soon, but he didn't care. He wasn't interested in helping me at all. Needless to say, he was nothing to look at and he wasn't helpful. I decided to give them my cracked ipad and got a new one, but was pretty unhappy about the last experience. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Can't always have a hot Dutch man to help you with everything in life. Not everyday can be paradise! read more

Good news one of the largest Apple stores is now in Amsterdam. I am a real big fan of the Apple Store at the Grove in LA, but I was very impress with the new location in Amsterdam. It's superior to the one in LA, it's clearly a work of art. The architecture was well designed, also inside of the building has a classical and stunning layout.So therefore it's definitely worth checking out. I am so happy that they placed the real thing in Amsterdam. I was really fed up with the reseller shops. I definitely see this Apple Store putting plenty of Apple Reseller Shops out of business. read more

Just great... I would say as usual... but this is really a GREAT shop!!! All the widgets and gadget you usually get in a REAL Apple Store PLUS... the style and atmosphere of an old great building.. fixed and renewed perfectly !!! You get a very ample lofty atmosphere... with the CLASSIC glass stair... circle one in the center... and lot lot lot of light!!! Opening hours are extended... and 7 day a week.. like most of the businesses in Amsterdam. Well done!!! read more

I don't know what to say about this Apple Store because it is not something you can uniquely elaborate on. It is like describing something generic of almost all Apple Stores. They have each section for their iPods, iPads, iPhones, MacBooks and big displays. That's the first floor is a huge open space if not for these Ikea looking tables with the gadgets on them, the large displays on the wall, bright lights, super clean and smooth decor. But a beautiful interior nicely laid out. But isn't that the same of all Apple Stores? Maybe I am just not wowed because to me I have seen the Apple style here in New York City. I am accustomed to it already, to me nice and unique but I am not an Apple groupie even though I own several of their products. In a little bit, the way it's design is like a library, maybe a library of the future? I saw toward the back, customers were sitting down and using their MacBooks and iPads. The seating is limited, but this day I went it wasn't busy. I used one of their MacBooks and was able to go online and check my email, the words were in Dutch, btw. I didn't go up the rotating upstairs but I assume, again, like most larger Apple Stores that is where the Genius Bar, software, media and presentation center is. read more

The Amsterdam Apple Store. Probably the biggest one in The Netherlands? Compared to ours in Haarlem its huge. I noticed that my colleague was allowed to hold the Apple handheld from the Apple-boy to insert his own email address. In Haarlem they would never allow that. Upon asking the answer was very logical: in Amsterdam there are so many nationalities purchasing goods and how do you write down an email address of somebody who tells you that in Russian English. Got it :) This store is immense. The display of Apple goodies btw is - like in every store - modestly simple, though numerous. I keep seeing the poor third world hands that manufacture all that. The clerks were really nice but what a freaking waste of my time my visit was - and after my visit my MBP is acting funny! I set up an appt. online for the Genius Bar. In the appt. form I entered the reason why I was going: 2007 MBP's keyboard+trackpad not working + battery problems. When my Genius Bar guy came to get me I told him what the problem was: 2007 MBP's keyboard+trackpad not working + battery problems. The guy connected some cables to my laptop, clicked around and finally gave me the genius that was his diagnosis: keyboard+trackpad not working + battery problems. But he added that there was nothing the store could do because they don't work with items older than 2 years. Genius indeed. But apparently they CAN do something to a machine that's older than 2 years because my MBP has been acting up since my visit. I hate Apple. read more

This is the worst Apple store. One of the managers had the worst attitude. First you wait forever for a salesperson, as most of the Apple sales people are chatting with each other. Then if you don't speak Dutch or immediately understand their awkward process for credit cards, and have more questions or requests, they refuse to help you. Easily the most beautiful Apple Store I've ever been in! The glass staircase, the large columns, the incredible European style... it's worth a visit just to check it out, even if you don't like Apple! I guess it's fitting, given that it's in the Museumkwartier (or close to it), and I think it's awesome branding on Apple's part to make it fit in so well with the surrounding area. Seriously, I thought I was in a museum when I walked in here, and had to double check to make sure I was in an Apple Store. Everything else is like your typical Apple Store, so it's all pretty sweet. You may find yourself hanging out here for quite a while, just to chill in the vibe and beauty, as I did. If you do, no one's going to bother you about it, as it seems like they're used to customers spending more time than would be usual in a retail store. I would come here all the time to charge my phone while out all day exploring Amsterdam. I recommend you do the same! read more

This event was my dutch practice for the night! Thank you Flip for the invitation, I was happy to have the chance to learn more about video content. The dutch part was the unexpected bonus, even though I was a bit stressed that I couldn't get everything. The workshop consisted in a few tricks about how to use the Iphone camera (there's always more to learn) and a tutorial how to use the semi professional video app: iMovie. Even though I was lost on this part (too much into detail for my dutch comprehension) it got me enthusiastic about learning how to proper use this app. Glad to have the chance to learn something interesting through an Yelp event, sign me for the next Ps: apple store offers a couple of free workshops if you are interested, just check their website :) read more

AT first I had an IPhone 4S. IT dis not Work anymore. I was here ABOUT 10 times. I told them I am a digital ignorant man. IT is like a car. I can use iT but I have No!!! Idea hoe iT Works. . After All these visits I was told THE guarantty time was over and THE Phone was broke. I gave iT to a student. Hè told me THE Phone was working Good again and iT was probably a bug in THE software. THANKS Apple. NOW I got a 5S which does not Work anymore. I am very disappointed. read more

The reason why I love Apple stuff is not just because their hardware is beautiful, though that's one of the reasons, but because I have never had an unfixable problem with any of their hardware. Ever. Sure I've had some issues, that's normal. But each and every time the guys and girls at the Amsterdam Apple Store have been more than helpful. Every issue has always been fixed to my satisfaction (and trust me I'm not easy to please!). Even when my fist iMac had display issues that I thought I had caused myself and never went to get them fixed because it was already out of warranty when I discovered it was actually a manufacturing issues, I got the entire machine replaced. Replaced by a newer model as my model wasn't available anymore. And this was outside of the warranty period! Had a small issue with my iPhone 6 and in less than 10 minutes it was replaced by a brand new one (no it didn't bend). Sure it was still within even the first year of warranty, but no questions asked, no implying I did something wrong. Nope, fixed! Just like that. I'm sure some people have more serious cases and perhaps a less easy going experience, but I leave those reviews up to them. read more

Great Building (Hirsch) with a Historic background used to be THE luxury warehouse of Amsterdam/Netherlands in the early 1900's after half a century of bad usage now connecting with the current times again. Great Glass staircase, wide architectural interior, exceptionally relevant for the Dutch trendsetters who from an early stage embraced Apple's qualities! I've visited this store quite a while back before i was using yelp. I have to say i was impressed from the moment i saw the store from the street. Once i entered the store i was overwhelmed by its beauty. The big glass staircase in the middle wich is just a beauty. And ofcourse all the apple products. It's nice. It's just an Apple store. Pretty big and vacuous. Not a lot of third party stuff here - just mostly the standard Apple stuff and a few extra stuff on the top floor in the back. Unlike other Apple stores, nobody greets you when you enter. Nobody asks you if you need help. Nobody approaches you to ring you up when you stand there holding the adaptor you need. Such a beautiful building! Apple chose it right. The store is super big, and it's always packed. If you have an appointment at Genius Bar, they will do their best but it might take quite a while. Not because of the staff actually, but a lot of people use Genius Bar to set up their devices or small problems so that's why there is a big waiting time. They do make up for it with a pretty big staff. They are always willing to help, and they will help you through the whole purchasing process and choosing (they know all the product info really well of course, and will give you a lot of insight and opinion to help you choose properly. I've bought one iPhone here and been to Genius Bar three times and always got great service! They help you set up everything until your device is up and running (I'm guessing that's protocol in all apple stores?) Anyways, super cool staff and hey, it's apple! read more

I remember when this place first opened and I saw it at 5am on a cold dark morning when coming back home from the airport after a trip overseas. It beckoned to me on the deserted streets like a heavenly lit church, a place to drown your sorrows and find solace in technology. It has been a haven ever since, serving the needs of local Mac believers for years. Somehow Apple managed to take an iconic Dutch building and use its beautiful unique features while also making them their own. There is the typical Dutch spiral staircase, but instead of being claustrophobic and dangerous, it's open and airy and safe to walk down, even for kids. There are the original columns of the building, but with giant clean window panes put in between them, the better to see the newest iGadget with. They have lovely skylight lighting inside, but instead of hot and glaring sunlight, it evenly distributes soft bright daylight everywhere. Other than that, it's your typical Apple store. The Genius minions are forced to be a little more polite than your typical Dutch service person, but they are still more gruff and unpleasant than a happy smiley American Apple Genius. But I'll take what I can get. I am a true believer in the Cult of Mac, so I'm just happy to have someplace I can go worship in real life while living over here. read more

The staff at this store really saved me in a time of need. I was on a layover between the UK and Dubai, and staying with friends for a small vacation. I had a Macbook Air that I wanted to give to a friend but that needed a repair. An authorised repair place in Dubai had told met that I would have to pay 500+ Euros to get it fixed and so I waited to go to Amsterdam, and come to this store. Long story short, the repair diagnostic took 45 seconds and the gentleman at the genius bar was very patient with me and explained everything. The repair took less than two hours and cost a total of 106 Euros and my friend loves his computer and it has no problems at all in the last six months. Also; I've done some shopping here before and the staff is always very helpful and very friendly. The store is drop dead gorgeous and in one of the nicest city squares in Amsterdam, which is a total bonus, because while waiting for the repair to take place I took a walk of about 50 meters and had a wonderful lunch with a beer! On the evening of July 3rd, with just 30 minutes before the store closed, I visited while on vacation from the US to Europe. My iPhone X had completely died two days earlier in Belgium . . . I didn't have an appointment, but the staff were friendly and accommodating -- especially a blonde woman (employee # ending in 3361) who was able to get me a new phone under the warranty, and enable me to enjoy my vacation again! LOL strike one. I entered the building from the side of Leidsesquare. No one was at the door to greet me. No worries...I looked around at the myriad staff and customers all entranced in the screens before them. This by the way was my first experience in this store so I was expecting to be wowed. I fussed around and fidgeted with a few mac books on one of the tables and didn't manage to get anyone's attention. So I went looking for someone to help me. I was here to buy a mere accessory but dagnabit where were they? Strike two. I spied a security guy eyeballing the lay of the room and asked him where yonder accessories might be. He said they were upstairs. Okay. Just me and this WAS my first time in this store so I was wondering if there was a store directory somewhere. Nowhere to be seen but maybe somewhere just not anywhere I looked. I got up the beautiful staircase and still couldn't see where the accessories might be. Just more stuff on tables with everyone's eyes glued to the screens. So I spied another guy and waited for him to get free so I could ask him where the accessories were. When I finally asked him he responded in a "I'm sorry but I'm busy and that's not my job to show you where that stuff is." "In addition if you look over there in that corner that's where the accessories are and any of those people in blue shirts can help you out" tone and then promptly disappeared. He did manage to sneak in, "you enjoy the rest your shopping experience!" Strike three. Now don't get me wrong. I'm easy to please and very forgiving and I get told I'm too nice. Well.....Finally, I find the accessories and the area they're in. Problem one. The people in front of me have no desire to share space and let us all look for what we need. Problem two. The man in front of me is so focused he almost stepped on me several times. I've no idea if he sees me. Problem three. I overheard the girl in front of me ask where she could pay for her item. Who would take her money? Yep that was a good question. There is nothing posted identifying where you pay for items neither are there price tags. So, I spied another security guy and asked him where the cashiers are. He told me all of the blue shirts are cashiers. "There is one now. Why don't you ask her?" So I did. She wasn't friendly when I asked her if I could pay for my item. She didn't ask if I'd found everything I needed or if I had any questions. All she said was, "chip card or cash?" I was on the verge of ending this experience and was hoping to end it soon. I replied, "cash." She lead me to the far counter, rung me up, took my money, gave me my change, bagged my item and gave me my receipt. No "thank you" or "Have a nice evening." Regardless, I told her "thank you." When I descended the glass staircase I noticed that each entry door now had a person standing at either one, greeting or saying good bye to customers coming or going.. I'm sure all of the previous reviewers had great experiences. I expected one myself. So now I know where most of the stuff is and where the cashiers are. However, I'll shop online. Please excuse me while the steam billows out of my ears...the Genii at this location are just not so. A recent laptop issue (exploded pixels on a retina display coupled with a defective battery) required us to come here 4 times...beginning with them being out of the necessary part to them accidentally putting a Scandinavian-language keyboard on the computer...all of the issues required us to keep returning. When they finally got it right, the Genius was getting exasperated while my husband just checked to make sure they actually put the right keyboard on...all the guy cared about was getting his signature and moving on about his merry way without ever making sure that they made a correct fix! I'm going to Haarlem next time...there is no plausible way that it/the Genii could be any worse than this location. read more
