He fixed the ozonator injector, told me why my pipes looked the way that they do, explained what chemicals were in the products I was using and what products would work better because fewer chemicals would be involved and they would be easier to dispense, and that I could get those at Ace. He never was vague, talked down to me or tried to sell me anything, which, unfortunately, is what many businesspeople do to elderly women. In addition, he drained my spa. He let me go over the notes I had made from his explanations about treatments I should use going forward and found some errors about ounces versus capsful, etc., for which I am very grateful. All of this for a diagnostic visit, and all that he wanted in payment was the reasonable fee that he had quoted to me on the phone for a diagnosis. I chose to give him a tip, but he was reluctant at first even to consider accepting it. He was recommended to me by someone I trust and who explained everything that Mark did for him, so, in a way, this review represents 2 people who have had wonderful experiences with Mark's generosity, extensive knowledge and experience, ability to clearly communicate complex information, and overall personal integrity. Mark Landig is a kind, articulate, and intelligent man who knows what he's doing with chemistry and the hardware of tubs, and he has the good health of the customer in mind.

Capitola Pump has been around for many years and I have been in my home for 43 years…read more I worked with Keith, but apparently he is no longer there and according to the new owners, he didn't keep very good records. Keith was always personable easy to talk to and it is sad that he is not there. So now when I want to get my well shocked, because my husband who passed away used to take care of it, I need help . I did not remember the exact depth of my well, but I said when asked that I thought it was around 140 ft. I was encouraged to find out for sure so I did. In the meantime, they had come up with a bid quoting the deepest possible and the highest price.. My husband who passed away, knew the depth and so I had to do my research and it was confirmed that the well is around 140 feet deep. I immediately called Capitola Pump and confirmed that I was right it was around 140 feet but they had already come up with a very expensive $4000 price to shock treat my well. I asked if they would please change that now that I knew the depth. A month and a half went by I never heard from them so I called and Was told they'd get back to me, but they didn't. I called back once and was told that the person was out on lunch break . I said please have them call me back and No one did. Two days later. I called a second time and then I was told that because they didn't have any record of me, because Keith didn't keep good records, who is no longer with Capitola Pump they couldn't lower the price. I have been from the very start disappointed with the service over the phone. It felt like going to a store and working with someone that never said hello or even looked at your face and the monotone voice was it put off from the start, but I tried to be kind and respectful . I won't mention her name, but she clearly conveys through her tone hate for her job. There was another young woman that answered the phone whose name I did not get and she was very sweet and conveyed a a very kind attitude. So because they don't have records and I know and knew the depth of my well was as exactly as I thought and conveyed on my first phone call. They don't feel comfortable lowering the price to a reasonable rate for a well that is only 140 ft. Because their policy was to create a bid for the deepest scenario of $4000 for a 600 foot deep well to a reasonable rate for 140 foot well. I would highly recommend finding somewhere else to go and not support supporting this business.

I have been dealing with San Juan Pools of Monterey for several years. My pool was dated,…read morein-ground build in the 1950's. The work over these years included having the pool totally resurfaced, new waterline tiles, new plumbing and a new cartridge filter, variable speed pump, chlorine generator, heater, LED lights, deck jets and deck coping, new central drain, skimmer and I also had them install a 10' diameter in ground SPA. You can say I transformed my old pool into a modern day beautiful oasis on my property. All the work was done over the years in various stages and I will say that dealing with this long time family run business has been flawless and without any complaint. From the Father, Pierre, to his son Domenico and their professional crew, I tell you they are the very best to deal with. They are friendly, very capable, very responsive anytime I call or need them and very considerate of my yard landscaping as if it were their own. Their prices for any sales or service are fair and reasonable. I real value, in my opinion as compared to the other original estimates I received when I initially planned this project. We've developed a good relationship where if I need anything, I don't even ask for an estimate, because they are consistent, honest and really value their customers and the relationship with them. Thank you very much for all the days of pleasure and enjoyment my family, friends and I get from your beautiful contribution to my home. Fred J, Monterey, CA

Not knowing much about the 'ins and outs' of hot tubs, I needed someone with practical knowledge…read moreand patience with my sense of urgency. That person was Allyson at Paradise Valley Spas in Palo Alto. I was attracted to Sundance models which has good quality reviews and a national reputation. I was looking for a hot tub that seated 5-7 people. My main interest was maintainability while my wife wanted comfort, elegance, and style. Allyson pulled it all together. While I evaluated specifications and cost of operation, Allyson and her contacts answered more direct questions about service and operation. She emphasized the importance of reliable local service that provides things like water treatment, monthly service and/or occasional repair. This was probably the #1 concern of experienced users on review websites. Once I was sold on reliability, we personally viewed and did a "touch & feel" of various Sundance models. This demonstrated to us that size is important, especially if anticipating sharing with 4 or more people and avoid feeling cramped. Allyson helped review the trade-offs between models. We decided on a larger model with a lounge seat, with the usual 'feel good' jet action and unexpected plus of extra therapeutic jets for leg and lower back relief. Thanks again Allyson for guiding our choice of hot tub and confidence in the final selection.

DO NOT BUY A BULLFROG SPA!…read more I am extremely unhappy. My Bullfrog Spa has been leaking now for 8+ months. Repair people have been out 11 times, fixed various things, and it is still leaking. It is still under warranty and I am completely fed up. I asked for a replacement or refund, as per Calif law re: "reasonable number of attempts to repair." Bullfrog "declined" my request and wants to keep repairing. My previous spa was a Sundance, and it was terrific--lasted 20 years. My Bullfrog purchase was a complete mistake!
