FOSSIL FARMS STUFFED QUAIL wild boar sausage, lentil ragout, roasted root vegetables, port wine reduction

Highly recommend Appalachia Kitchen. Everything we ordered was outstanding and the staff could not have been sweeter. Definitely a great meal after hitting the slopes. Ambiance was warm and cozy.

Me and MAD squatch!

So mad! 14 anniversary I got online made a reservation got approved. Got text messages regarding reservation called someone up at THE RESTAURANT !!!!because their website said very limited parking so I called the restaurant... restaurant LADY told me yes to use the shuttle blah blah blah. I said OK I'm coming here tonight at 5:30 for my reservation. I show up at 5 o'clock. Doors are locked. I walked all the way around the restaurant with my wife trying to get in ...went into the bar above they said oh there's a wedding tonight. The place is booked and closed so after making a reservation, confirming the reservation getting text about the reservation and getting to the restaurant closed For my 14th anniversary dinner.. to make matters worse. I ran into the executive chef. He said they are not taking reservations tonight. There is a wedding party. I said I already have a reservation from two days ago. Why was I allowed to make a reservation when the place is booked up for a wedding, he said oh sorry. Yeah, great thanks for nothing. This is apparently the nicest restaurant around a 50 mile radius. Everything else is a bar or a pub or mom and pop joint. Drove all the way back to Marlington to the Greenbrier Grill, which had 30 Amish people in ahead of us for dinner so thanks for nothing.! You suck.! And don't even mention 10 Prime restaurant. thought I might go down there for that extremely overpriced restaurant they showed being open, but of course they're closed too for the season! Snowshoe sucks all the way around!

We had amazing service here! Reuben was our server and he was awesome. The food was super tasty as well, and the vibe of the restaurant overall was great. Water never once went empty and we were taken care of.

Farm to table at its best! Local ingredients and incredible tastes. All sauces and dressings made in house. Fine dining with a view of the slopes. The best food on the mountain!

Very nice place to check out after being on the slopes. I'd recommend changing out of your ski clothes before entering, since this is a nicer establishment. However, we did ask staff about dress code and were told they are very welcoming and understanding! The staff were all friendly and helpful. We didn't order any drinks, but they seem to have a nice array of options. Complimentary bread is provided, which is delicious. We started with the short rib appetizer, and I'd definitely recommend getting it! This was our favorite bite of food we had here. I got the crab cakes for my entree and my husband got the filet. We liked both but wouldn't say they were the best we have had. Overall, nice ambiance with kind people and good food. We'd recommend.

Filet mignon with asparagus and fingerling potatoes

Excellent food and great ambiance. We came here during a winter weekend! The service was top notch and servers on point. We started with the charcuterie board. The tastes of each food blended well. I believe the portions needed to be a bit bigger or cut in more pieces to allow for easier sharing. I ordered the filet mignon (surprise surprise) with a glass of their Tilia malbec. It went together perfectly. The asparagus was cooked well and crisp. I am not a fan of limp and soggy asparagus. Steak always goes well with fingerling potatoes which were tasty. Everything cooked as I ordered it. Friend of mine ordered the venison meatloaf which seemed like a good idea at the time, but lacked some flavor and was slightly dry. Venison is not easy to make so I can't count it against them too much. Either way a great experience with good food. I highly recommend making reservations weeks in advance to get the time and day you want to eat. It is one of the few sit-down restaurants at Snowshoe that has good reviews. We will be back again!

Enjoying the carrot cake

Had reservations and was quickly seated. Host explained the specials of the day but were out of the "main" appetizer and elk. Short rib croquettes were delicious. We ordered Steak to medium temperature, but arrived medium well, almost done. Did not complain because the crust and reduction had an amazing flavor. We requested bread and we're told that they were also out of bread. We had the carrot cake for dessert which is a very generous portion. I haven't had one this good in a long time, was told it's made from scratch and a family recipe.

Maple glazed pork chops, charred broccolini and squash risotto.

Wow!!! Had dinner for Valentine's Day. It was delicious. I had the osso bucco. Husband had the maple glazed pork chops. Lobster bisque was amazing. Our server was so sweet and kind. It was packed!! Expected that. Restaurant is very nice. You could see the snowmakers grooming.

Really nice ambiance and a nice dinner option on the mountain. We were able to make a reservation a day before going. The staff was very friendly, but when we went there was only one waiter serving the entirety of the restaurant while there were multiple hosts waiting at check-in. The pork chops were lovely, and the rest of the table agreed all of their meals were pretty good as well. The carrot cake is HUGE (the menu even says to share it) and it was fairly decent but not out of this world. I'd recommend going here one evening if looking for a nicer option one night if here for a good chunk of time- a good option for larger groups. Note you'll be able to hear the bar music above, but we didn't mind.

Crabcake Crostini

I love going to Snowshoe all year. I was just at the resort this past weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday and we didn't want to go to the same steakhouse again. So we got recommended to try App Kitchen on one of the Facebook pages. The menu looked pretty appetizing. When we walked in, the ambiance was really nice and felt really underdressed (I was in sweats and a hoodie). But the servers were still so nice and made really nice recommendations for food. We had the Crabcake Crostini and 48-hr Short Rib for appetizers and the Berkshire Heritage Pork Osso Bucco for the main entree. All the food was really yummy and we definitely want to come back to try the other menu items. I'm from the DMV area, so the Crabcake Crostini was okay. The caviar topping really elevated it. The short ribs was really good with the cheddar grits. The star of the night was the pork with the pumpkin risotto. It was tender and the pairing with the pumpkin risotto was really nice. Definitely will be coming back!

Located on the second floor there's a great view in a casual setting with standard low tables and high top tables, and bar seating. There are TVs playing sports. This is what we ordered: -Brussels Sprouts (11/10 a MUST ORDER! DELICIOUS! They have bacon, cashews, blue cheese, balsamic! They are amazing!) -Chicken Caprese melt on ciabatta 9/10 -Trout melt 9/10 -Burger 10/10 -hand cut French fries 10/10 delicious!! The only thing we disliked was the cranberry spritzer mocktail. It just tasted like soda water with a hint of cranberry. Bleh 1/10 stars Service is outstanding! Karlee was a one woman show and she did a great job waiting on everyone and being attentive. We were heading to Lewisburg to spend the night so Snowshoe looked to be our best option to find a restaurant. Tuque's was the spot we found. Finding parking was a little difficult. Being that we were extremely hungry we both ordered the Wilfong burger and fries. It hit the spot. This is a hearty burger loaded up with all fixings including bacon. This was on a Friday night and they only had one server and she was doing the work of 3 or 4. She was covering the entire area and very efficient covering the restaurant making sure everyone had their food. This is a casual bar/restaurant in a ski town. The food was good - The service was great!

There are so many options in this lovely town but I made a reservation at Zynodoa because I have been on a farm-to-table kick lately. The servers and hosts were all lovely, interacting with both the guests and each other professionally and amicably. My server Sarah gave me as much attention as anyone else, even though I was the only person dining alone. I ordered the tomato and burrata appetizer. I am not a big raw tomato eater but I knew if these were truly farm-to-table, they would taste good, and they did. The flavor felt like a combination of sunshine and a warm hug! The cheese tasted like a sweet kiss. The portion was substantial, and there was balsamic reduction and a generous amount of coarse pesto. I ate the whole thing! For the main course I ordered the flat iron steak. Because I was traveling and didn't want leftovers, I asked the server for a smaller portion than listed, but either I wasn't clear or it wasn't an option--It's okay, though. I ordered the steak medium rare but it was a shade above rare; again, okay. Sides were good but I added salt. The meal was a bit pricey but probably fair given that it was sourced locally. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the chef is heavy handed on the sauces, which may not be everyone's cup of tea. Oh, I ordered the pinot noir and it was good, smooth, balanced. Overall impression of Zynodoa was it felt like visiting the home of a friend with a garden who loves to cook and share with her friends. The portions were generous and the seasoning was substantial. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Staunton.
